Repeat of a previous deal back in January.

As per earlier post they now have kb pricing on their plans.
Of course there is the $20 security deposit that most would be aware of.

    I'd avoid Vaya.

Everything is find and dandy until you have a problem. Then the nightmare begins. While they are a low cost service provider, their customer service is awful and below my low expectations.

For me I was with them for 2 years and decided to change from the old $17 plan to the 4G $18 plan. This resulted in them setting up two services on the same phone number and double billing me. 3 months later and multiple phone calls (if you can get through) and emails later this hadn't been fixed (although they always did retroactively refund the money to me eventually).

I was forced to go to the TIO to get it sorted. Seems they were capable of fixing up my account within a couple of days when I went to the TIO.

Then when they disconnected one of the services, they tried to bill me for $200 in excess usage because the service they disconnected was the service that they had been counting my usage on and so they prorated the usage.

Again multiple emails and phone calls did nothing. Went to the TIO again and it was mysteriously gone. Then they charged me a $10 dishonour fee because I didn't pay the faux charges on time (I always paid my $18 like I should have but refused to pay anymore and had the account set to a prepaid debit card so they couldn't take out any more) and a $10 fee for using an old plan I was no longer on.

After 6 months I left for greener pastures. They continued to send me bills for the next couple of months. Eventually with the TIO's help these were resolved.

Think the TIO must have Vaya number one on their speed dial.
They are total fwits if you have any errors or billing problems.
I mean its like they actually work against you. No idea of customer service or brand protection. I just got through arguing my case with them on Facebook (quickest way to get through) and wanted to see if I could get them to fix up their glaring billing errors without actually threatening the TIO. Took over a month and countless exchanges back and forth. Their attitude got snarkier and snarkier. I was that close to going TIO on the bastards when they relented as a "one time courtesy" Lol.
Totally horrible to deal with. Utter F-wits. :)

    AVOID
The one month free will never eventuate either

    • +1

Not only will you never get it but you will get a double charge when you leave as well … so 1 free months becomes pay for 1 extra month.

Before anybody buys do read Whirlpool where there are thousands and thousands of negative posts:

    and Product Review

So you can make a more informed choice.

Money Magazine, whoever they are, should be ashamed of themselves.

    ? + 1 Month Free
Title might include the required $20 security deposit

  • +3

But when you leave they will try to charge you an extra month and will not refund your pro-rata plan charges or security deposit unless you threaten them with the TIO.

Would avoid at all costs. Was using LiveConnected and they were great until they were bought out by Vaya. Never dealt with such bad customer service in my life. And their business operations are downright shaddy: asking existing customers for a $20 security deposit (that is never refunded) and increasing legacy plans by almost double their original price. Save yourself the hassle.

With LiveConnected already, so may as well go Vaya and save $5/mth?

Terrible terrible company to deal with.

I don't see this as a deal as there is a strong risk of paying more than in the long run - time or money or usually both.

See negs and comments from the other Vaya deals: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/vaya.net.au

And, according to the OzBargain blog, it was the most neg'd deal from last year http://blog.ozbargain.com.au

Avoid, shocking service and have to pay a serutiry deposit. Also charging $20 for a Sim card to start with? Defiantly pass on this!

    • +3

      Defiantly (sic) pass on this!

      I agree, defiantly and definitely.

  • No 3G plan anymore?

  • +2

I tried to grab the one month free with free postage back in january, but it took over a month to send the sim itself. Never ended up getting the free month in the end :(

  • Prob going to be negged but I've been Vaya and live connected for myself and a few friends and family and no one has ever had a problem. Saved ourselves a heaps of money too.

Bottom line (literally) seems to be as long as you don't need customer support they're good.

And nice to see them go back to Kb billing as of today.

    • +1

Making money off your $20/service steal! Sorry fee…

    • +2

Yeah until you need customer service which is the problem.. eventually you always need customer service

  • +2

The company is a running joke. Run away

  • +2

Better not to touch Vaya Virus

Still the cheapest provider in Australia. It works for me.

    • +1

It will work, until you need the smallest thing done by them.

      • -1

Over the phone I got the to waive the ridiculous $10 fee for a failed payment attempt

        • +2

Good luck. You'll leave them one day. You think I didn't want to stay with them?

        • +1

You got someone on the phone. I once called up within a minute of them opening. Waited 10 minutes then they dumped my call.
