Closed outside office hours and no, you absolutely cannot sleep there. That's explicitly mentioned in the terms and conditions.

      • Hi Kyanar, welcome to OzBargain.

It's a strange land where reading is an under utilised skill, & t&c of course do not apply ;-)

Almost no one posting is even entitled to this DinersClub promotion! But watch what happens if Regus state that & revoke membership.

Don't believe all that is posted either.

And those helpful souls who provide useful fact, rather than entertainment or put downs, will be challenged as the enemy. Negs and sometimes abuse follow.

Rule 1. Never get between an OzBargainer & a deal.

I'd say enjoy OzBargain, but it may be difficult.

So here's my advice to a question about coffee at Regus Business Lounges.

  • Still working? Too lazy to signup yesterdeh

  • Do they check ID's.. guess I shouldn't have signed up as 'Count Homer'

    • Haven't actually been to a Regus business centre yet, but according to the T&Cs you May need to produce ID for security purposes.

      • yeah, guess it would be to easy to swipe someones card and start living the dream

        • But Count Homer, you are living the dream* now your a member for 2 years;-)

*OzBargain dreams may not conform to any normal person's dream or reality.
          Regus Businessworld t&c apply

        • @brucefromaustralia:

          haha, good one ;)

      • It's usually that way with paid memberships like these. They have the right to request ID.

I've never been asked & my usual office knows me too well to even ask for the membership card.

Most people using this international office rental business run up big bills based on that membership card. They don't want someone using another person's card to run up bills fraudulently. Don't worry, they need to set up an account to bill you.

        • good to know, thanks

    • +1

Not in my experience, Count Homer.
      But they can.

    • ID would be fine, so long as they don't want a diners club card.

      • That goes for about 14,000 here!

    • Dear Count Homer,
I've had a think about false names on membership cards
It may be a legal issue :-(

But I covered myself^ before by adding subject to Regus BusinessWorld t&c.

      ^not a lawyer

      • Coz we all come to Ozbargain for legal advice

        • ;-)

  • +1

Will this be the first $10,000,000 freebie on OzBargain?

    (13716 clicks/memberships so far x $700 = $9,601,200)
How do I make 10M flash in OzBargain gold?

Yes, I know $700 may be an inflated value, but Gold Membership usually lists as $59/mth.

    • Is that a click counter for this tread or to the website to enter the deal

Cause I haven't joined but click into this thread regularly to read the posts lol

      • Of course OzBargain clicks don't equate to buys.

When you click the deal link icon up the top to go to the deal site, the counter increments by 1.

Some will click once, but sign up many times. It probably evens out those who click through to the site & don't sign up ;-)

Only Regus should know how many applied to be members.

Still, 17247 clicks is an impressive number of views of the Regus promotion page.

…click into this thread regularly to read the posts lol
Nothing to see here, move along if your not buying ;-)

  • I think DinnersClub & Regus may be a bit surprised by their generosity ;-)

The cards are supposed to be sent out within 21 days… I think that will cause some problems issuing that many cards!

    We will wait & see.
But we may need to be prepared for disappointment as t&c allow membership to be revoked.

The previous free Regus deal only had 5857 clicks & Regus later required DinersClub membership numbers.

    from last deal…
UPDATE: GOT AN EMAIL TODAY FROM REGUS REQUESTING DINERS CLUB NO. FOR ONE THE ACCOUNTS I SIGNED UP FOR.
I'VE TEMPORARILY PLACING THE DEAL AS EXPIRED UNTIL WE SEE IF THE CURRENT GROUP OF PEOPLE RECEIVE ANY TEMP CARDS.

I don't know what happened to the memberships not supported by DC membership. The deal was expired & there were no further comments.

(I applied early for that deal & received no email requesting further details. Still enjoying my 3 year free membership. Others received the email.)

  • If you've received your membership number in the email, it's ready to use. Just show the email (on phone is ok in my experience).

  • Thanks so much OP. I've just signed up the other half and I.

We're in Sydney for hospital visits atm, and a quiet place (aka no kids) for a coffee is worth its weight in gold. Free coffee is an added perk.

    • +1

Enjoy! It's a pleasure to have a quiet space to relax in a big city.
      Plenty in Sydney.
Hopefully one with a great view is handy ;-)

      • +1

Thanks. Just got an email confirming membership of the 2nd signup I did - took about 60 seconds. Still waiting for the 1st one from 5 mins ago.

Several near the hospital, but circular quay looks very inviting.

Glad a brought one respectable outfit.:-)

  • I reckon about 1% of OzBargainer's who have signed up will actually use one of the Business Lounges. I got the previous deal and was loving the thought of using their lounges during a two week trip to the USA and a two week trip to the UK. In reality, I used it twice in the USA, and have used it one other time in Brisbane. Unless you're really a "working from home" type person, and need a quiet dedicated place to work for a few hours, you'll just go into a nice cafe and use their wi-fi or hotspot your phone. And Regus probably know this too - that only a few are going to use the service, and it's those few who are possibly going to use the other paid services supplied by Regus.

    • Hope you are right about the 1% use. I don't want to be crowded out of my favourite cubicle ;-)

I always intend to use the office on overseas holidays, but Regus are mainly located in business districts - an area I am rarely in. That means planning how to get there - usually too much hassle.

In a place like Tokyo, where free WiFi is still hard to find & limited, Regus are above major train stations. But the weather was cold before Chistmas, and my $150/wk apartment room came with almost everything Regus offered - included unlimited high speed WiFi and very good hot aircon in my room, plus English language newspapers, travel advice, & free coffee at reception. There was no need to visit Regus, I stayed nice & warm in bed & watched local tv & video on my tablet;-)

The advantage over most other free WiFi is the lack of download limit. Try downloading a 500-700MB offline map of the country at a coffee shop or MacDonalds.

Believe me, Regus has been very helpful before or during overseas holidays in my experience. (Watching YouTube introductions to the culture, docos, downloading travel guides, etc - usually faster & saving my data costs.) The free coffee is just a bonus.

And my usual office is a quiet place to escape when in Brisbane CBD. Much better after the renovations before Christmas. Now the pods have a wonderful window wall view, overlooking the river.

      • Dude, not relevant but $150/pw apartment is a really good deal. Where and how did you get it? You might want to post it as a deal separately

        • Got called a liar last time I commented about it in more detail :-(
People don't believe the price - a few stations out of ToKyo station.

It's through a hotel manager I know, of limited availability, suited to people staying in Tokyo for a while. So not so suited for posting details.

        • @brucefromaustralia: do you mind sharing more in details? You can PM me if you don't want it to be in public. I am looking to go to Japan soon, probably for 2 weeks to 1 month so it is extremely relevant to me.

        • +1

          @shinichiduy:

PM another day & we'll see.
I'm more likely to remember that way.
My 'helping gland' is depleted after over 100 posts in this deal, and my finger has worn out typing on my phone's screen. I don't mind discussing Japan :-)

        • +1

@brucefromaustralia: Sure, thanks a lot mate. I appreciate your effort in this post. I can see lots of lazy people who did not follow the comments and just blindly asked unreasonable questions that already have the answers for.

  • +2

    Interesting numbers.

I signed up twice, half an hour apart, and the membership numbers are 478 apart. At ~1000 new members an hour, I wonder how many of those are ozbargainers.

  • What happens if I bring a guest, are they allowed in or do I get kicked out?

    • Read my answer above.

Boagify, just think of it as a business club & who may be let in or be thrown out, and for what reason…

But your OzBargain username might indicate a concern:-(

Like a club, it's always the person on the door who decides ;-)

      • +1

Sorry, but what is wrong with my username?

        • +1

          Nothing, here.
But you were asking about reasons to be 'kicked out'.

It suggests a dress style inappropriate for a professional business club ;-)

Basing anything on a username is often incorrect. I'm sure you'll have no problem.

My dress style or rather lack of it never has been a problem at Regus.

And I've been 'kicked out' of a country fish & chip shop for being too cheeky to the cook.

  • +1

Surely people aren't signing up to this using internet usernames are they?

It's a professional business club. I've used my real name and can produce id as required. Imagine the embarrassment of being greeted as Ms runningdog or some other weird name. Particularly if any of your work colleagues are there. No thanks.

    • +1

Dear Ms runningdog, tell that to Count Homer ;-)

I'm sure Boagify isn't the name on Boagify's membership card. I hope not. But what's in a name?

My own business ran play workshops for adults. My corporate clients instantly had a smile on their face entering my office. It was everything you wouldn't expect in a business environment. So formal work concepts can be flexible & not break.

Respect should be shown to the Regus staff, and that includes not having a totally ridiculous or offensive name on the card.

But the big issues are ID & the card is part of the accounting system used to charge for services. Billing is not an issue for us thrifty types, but Regus may reject memberships on legal grounds if the name is not correct.

Count Homer may not live his dream if the name on the membership is rejected :-(

      • Count Homer already has access to million dollar views (numerous cities worldwide).. free wifi, drinks, bed, etcetc.. don't need to show a phony card, either ;)

Guess you didn't spot the sarcasm .. 'living the dream'.. this morning ;)

        • Sarcasm you say… I don't even know the meaning of the word.

You mean you're not the real Count Homer!

Sorry, I've come down with a bad case of dilemma of shopping excess at the moment. A terrible condition.

  • Hmm mine says unable to process?

  • re the free coffee, is it coffee machines and you make it yourself or ?

    • +7

Honest, the best baristas serve you coffee made from the world's rarest beans roasted between the legs of chaste virgins, while the gorgeous receptionist fluffs the down pillow under your head, and angels descend from the ceiling with harps… what do you expect for free.

It differs with offices. Minor ones may have pod machines (according to a receptionist who once worked there), others expensive frothy grindy ones that I use. Self serve in offices I've visited.

And kitchens vary - I like the ones with views & away from most offices. Some are dungeons away from natural light between offices & service ducts. I don't like to be hemmed in by corporate culture. Now back to the angels…

      • +2

world's rarest beans roasted between the legs of chaste virgins, while the gorgeous receptionist fluffs the down pillow under your head, and angels descend from the ceiling with harps

        SOLD! Definitely signing up now!

      • haha after that awesome reply, the truth is I was hoping it was self serve - much easier & less mucking around!!!

        • There is an initial tour to introduce you to the facilities. Next office, just ask where things are.

Just ask the reception staff for help - especially with the cryptic messages the fancy machines spit out.

Put your cups in the dish washer & back to 'work'. They'll throw out the coffee grinds & restock supplies.

Service is good, but maybe not angelic ;-)

        • @brucefromaustralia:

Thanks bruce, you should work for them! ;)

        • +1
  • Thank you tonester, this is a great marketing offer!!!!

  • +2
    • Yea thanks bruce for all your insight!

    • Tried to go to 120 Collins St on Sunday but closed :(

      • Did it say reception was closed? Then we don't get in :-(
Added for others sake, clarky - you already know.

  • -1

is parking included in the CBD (Sydney) offices?

    • +3

As I have posted so many times in this deal, anything Regus lists as "available" at a location just means it is available in the building at a price - not FREE!

Just like a meal or a bottle of rare wine is available at a fancy restaurant - no one expects it free! But OzBargainers apparently do.

Regus, like a good hotel, lists the services it's clients may enjoy while paying to be there. (Yes, people pay a lot of money for Regus services. It's a normal business expense. Best not to piss off the staff or paying clients! Otherwise, No membership for you!)

Considering the most expensive way to buy Gold Membership is monthly at around $59, & most offices are only open weekdays, the most anyone pays is an average of $3/weekday.

Just think the most a paid Gold membership costs is $3/weekday. What does that buy in CBD Sydney etc.
      Would it buy any Parking??
      And we're getting it FREE!!

And you are already getting a premium office address, free coffee, WiFi, papers & tv access, a cubicle to work at, staff to answer your questions + clean up & empty the dishwasher after you + keep supplies up in the kitchen…

Now why would you think very expensive central CBD parking would be thrown in, even if you were a paying Regus client??

      'free' parking discussion

Parking rates at Regus Riverside, Brisbane - it's listed as "available" on Regus site!

How much CBD parking could I get for $700 - the price of this 2 year Gold membership

      'free' gyms discussion

My attempt at a list of inclusions for Gold members (in bold so people will notice!)

And all this is academic if Regus pulls the plug (as seemed to have happened in the less popular DinersClub deal last time).

This has becone a $10,000,000+ freebie!!! (Have those hankies ready in case the deal fails.)

And please - read the deal, all those same questions & answers, & think first.

I'm nearing 100 comments of just on this deal - mainly dealing with a few similar questions. My poor screen finger is wearing out on the phone :-(

You can always ring an office or ask nicely at reception.

      • So you are saying it isn't free?…….

        • ;-)

        • @brucefromaustralia: you are an answering machine too my man, as in you answer tons of questions, not a plastic box with a recorded message

        • +4

          @clarky:
Thank you for your message. Unfortunately our support centre is receiving a very high volume of requests from a number of deals at the moment.
Please leave your message after the tone. Beeeep. ;-)

  • +1 Thanks OP. Added another one for the wife.

Out of interest, is there a way to check the expiry date as I see others have mentioned theirs is still valid from a previous deal.

    • +2

You would have read then that Regus staff don't even know. And fortunately they don't know how much we paid for membership (unless Regus spits the dummy over this enormous number of new members).

    • enjoy!

  • +5

Hey guys, so i'm currently at the QV building - walked straight in with the email of my membership! New facilities and beautiful view from where im sitting: http://imgur.com/lq8h2p7

    • I'd rather my office's view:-)
      But views are usually spectacular.

I decided not to post the view from my usual office, otherwise I won't be able to move for OzBargainers ;-)

      • as a uni student this is freakin awesome for me :D

      • @brucefromaustralia Yeah it's a great view. Currently posting from there now. It said secure wifi though - it's open wifi. I guess corporate types would have VPNs.

        • Get out of my new cubicle this instant;-)

There goes (the exclusivity of) the neighbourhood :-(

My tip - wait for a sunny day. The view is glorious. Very relaxing watching the boats on the water.

On a day like today (drizzle & cool), I won't be coming into the office. The view is not really worth it.

      • Ok I posted it below :-)

    • So, as you are there - whats the deal with coffee / food / other facilities?

What is free and what needs to be paid?

    • +3

Here's Riverside Regus in Brisbane (18th floor) late afternoon, earlier this year.

Riverside ferry terminal is at the base of the building - my favourite way to the 'office'.

Better in the morning, but I'm on the beach & then to lunch, often by ferry :-)

Ever ones opinion on views differs. I'm not much of a city person, so I love looking out to the horizon, seeing water, sky, & trees. There's a few good bush walks in those southern mountains.

  • Regus adds 3500sq m of office space in Melbourne and Sydney:

The leases, which were negotiated in-house, take the Regus network to 19 locations in Melbourne and 26 in Sydney.

Regus Australia and New Zealand CEO Paul Migliorini said Regus would grow its presence in Australia from 70 office locations to more than 400 by 2020 as part of a global expansion drive.

"By 2020 we will be in all suburban markets, all regional centres and select transport nodes, including airports," Mr Migliorini said.

In Sydney and Melbourne, Mr Migliorini said the end-of-year goal was to have serviced office centres within a 20-minute drive of all residents.

    • +3

Expanding! They must have known about the increased demand just from this deal ;-)
      (15547 clicks)

  • +1

So is there an app for OzBargain (like Tinder or Grindr) - so I know how many OzBargainers are in each Regus office & how far I am away?

Is the guy in the Bintang t-shirt really a millionaire?

Maybe with a menu of people's interests, posts, badges… (I'm hoping there's a badge for weirdest post - I could win that!)

Seems we may be getting a bit close together in these offices in the future, given our usual online anonymity.

Another's photos of me have appeared on OzBargain, of me after a few too many wines… not pretty.
I'll have to wear a digital disguise.

    • +2

Meths a hell of a drug

  • +1

Ha! I think I saw another Ozbargainer today!

I visited the QV one and saw two other school/uni students. One of them asked "where are the cups?" in the kitchen - to which only an Ozbargainer would ask (…myself included)!

    Thanks OP!

    • +3

Lol.. yep that was me! Enjoying the free drinks

    • And that may be what undoes this deal. (Not directed at 1 or 2 new clients like those above, but the apparent hoards of new members to come.)

As paying business customers access to facilities falls, WiFi speed slows, there's no clean cups for a coffee, & they realise others are getting that use for nothing…
there may be a 'revolt' against Regus & the obvious non-business new comers, by paying clients.

That's exactly the type of paying customer Regus can't afford to lose in its business.

The exclusivity of the offices to members was a major advantage to their business. This deal will likely wreck that perception.

Would we pay for a service so many others get free? (Yes, I know we would not pay in the first place.)

And Gold is the lowest & cheapest category of membership. Dearer categories include paid services like office rental. Those premium levels still access the facilities enjoyed by Gold members. So any issue of access to facilities may piss them off more.

Then there are the long term corporate clients & valued international clients… Regus doesn't want to piss them off!

The original idea was to bring in business people who are paying DinersClub members. Those are a good fit for Regus. They will likely rent facilities, and bring in similar business people. Regus profits benefits.

That rosy business model fails with most OzBargainers, who grab the code, the membership, the freebies. (Some here are DC members & already entitled to this deal.)

And some here want free parking, gym membership, & 24 access on top of their membership privileges.

Just the cost of answering thousands of new members questions, sending out personalised membership cards, or provide 1 cup of coffee each will cost a fortune.

Then there is the ongoing cost for 2 years to members who buy nothing. They gave out membership to make profits, not losses.

Regus report the value of these memberships as '$700' each, or around $11,036,200 so far in this deal. (If each of the 15,766 clicks resulted in a membership.) It won't cost them that in real dollars, but it will be too expensive to afford.

In a premium business like Regus, you don't want to devalue your product. That's what has happened.

      We will see.

      • +1

Give it a month, the novelty of being a member will wear off for 90% of the people that signed up.

        • +1

Unfortunately, it only takes 1 important client to think they lost a sale due to 'kids in the kichen', for things to get nasty. I've mediated disputes in businesses & a university.

They sent out emails requesting DinersClub membership number to many last deal.

This time there are 3 times the clicks, so far…
So the novelty may wear off sooner than that.

(I've only visited twice this year. I've been doing more interesting things.)

        • @brucefromaustralia: if we're unable to provide the DC membership number, I assume our Regus membership number also deactivated?

        • @legelas:
Too early to worry! They didn't ask me in the last deal.

I got in early last time, and am used to interacting with business people (even though my dress is not at all business) - it was the basis of my consultancy.

If they ask what I do, I am honest - no work, just travel the world. They just wish they could do that. Better than no work, I just grab every freebie I can. And, by the way, I got this free loser, now get out of my way - must have more free coffee… is that food free? You get the picture… I think others may have spoilt it last time.

        • @brucefromaustralia: your membership expired and staff at the office can't check it anyway LOL

        • @legelas:
Gold Membership may expire, but the cards last until 2072! Staff have told me I'm welcomed until then.

Moved onto last year's 3 year card deal with German DinersClub (cough), just in case. I mean, I don't want to claim something I'm not entitled to ;-)

        • @brucefromaustralia:
Note - staff at my office know me so don't check my card. So despite membership expiring, they're happy to let me in. May not be the case at other offices or for other people.

      • A deal like this would actually be useful for me as I do work from home and used to rent an office, so somewhere quiet, inspiring, and without distractions would be ideal. Plus locations are very convenient.. would much prefer a decent discount and/or trial period as opposed to "free".

        • +2

It was free to business types through DinersClub membership. Has been free with some frequent flyer programs.

The promo was to entice people like you Count Homer Frantic, who will occasionally buy their premium services or want to impress clients by the professional surroundings, prime location, & great views. And hopefully for Regus, your business would grow so you would want to rent the conference room - with catering & bubblie of course, and fly around the world in your private jet using their facilities. (Sorry, forgot you're not Count Homer, living the dream™.)

Free office space at a fashionable address is nothing new to me. I used to have an office in Queen St Brisbane overlooking the shopping mall. Prime address, but was a basic small office up 2 flights of stairs in a heritage listed arcade, and no after hours access for me to sleep off a night out. So I usually met clients at their business as a consultant.

I spent a maximum of 2 days a week for a maximum of 6 months a year there. (I also lectured at Uni & designed research, which took me on long paid trips to the Barrier Reef etc with scientists.) It was sublet for interviews to a recruitment firm, covering my rent. The electricity was connected through to a fashion designers store room next door, so I never even paid for electricity.

So why did I give up my free office? I became too lazy to go in to work, as I didn't need the office to meet clients. So transferred calls to my mobile, sat on the beach, and came into the office only 1 day, then none. I had free use of a shack on a small mango farm overlooking the sea, so the city office wasn't so appealing for a nature lover.

Regus office use is also dwindling for me. If my office gets overrun with too many OzBargainers, I'll have to find a new place to relax with unlimited free WiFi :-(

This deal was never meant for the likes of a freeloader like me ;-)

Damn you OzBargain! You've tempted me again.

I am not able to register for the deal at https://www.regus.com.au/business-lounge/payment/sydney-chat….

When I clicked on the 'Apply code' button, the error message is displayed:
"Invalid promotion entered / promotion cannot be applied to this product / promotion expired."

I am unemployed and I live in Sydney - would you share your membership with me?

It may not be likely that we both may show up at the same lounge at the same time. (My preference is the Chatswood or the Darling Park one in Sydney.)

    Thank you,

    SP

Received your PM, but will answer here.

There are a number of problems with your request…

You have not followed the deal instructions to gain membership.

Memberships are to all Regus lounges world wide, not specific ones.

So you used the wrong link. (Try the deal link. Otherwise it will cost you.)

Members may not be able to being in visitors. If allowed, they may be charged for doing that , especially if consuming resources (drinks, internet, etc)

As outlined in this deal, comments, & t&c.

And no need to plead your case, some would help anyway, if not for Regus t&c.

      So try again ;-)

  • Thanks OP… Don't know if i'll ever use it… lol.

So is the expiry for 2 years? i think i saw somewhere that bruce posted it expires in 2027(???)

Also made the likes to 666… THIS POST IS EVIL!!!! XD

    • Card expires 2072. At least that's what I found out last deal, last year.

What that means, no staff knew. I wasn't going to ask head office, in case they asked how I got it or what's my DinersClub number ;-)

My partner attends an inner city university, which has a tiny library that is always full of "multicultural" people who seem to think the library is a place to dance and sing to tribal music between classes.

This deal should come in handy.

  • Just checked (for the first time) in at their location in Auckland. Wow, the view alone is worth the effort. Not to mention, the pantry facilities. Kicking myself for forgetting to use such a wonderful facility after signing up last year.

    • It's the view at many Regus offices that really gets me too :-)

Premium office blocks usually have premium views. Harbours are always good locations. So enjoy.
