Dick Smith: "Almost Everything on Sale" - MEGA LIST - 3181 Items

8170

I didn't know any other way to present this data as there are 3181 items on sale.
I just whipped it up into a crude table & hosted it here http://myci.ga/r/dse/

I took a snapshot of their prices on 23rd May, and compared it to today & calculated % saving.

Click on the Product IDs, if you find anything useful post it.
Seems to be a lot of ipad / iphone covers.

edit: product names added

edit #2: "Tricky Dicky" - I've updated product prices for 27th (today) and filtered items that have gone UP in price since Saturday.

Top 500 or so discounted items (thanks stratbargain) here

Mods: another great example of how the downvote system is broken.

Since downvoting is so heavily frowned on, both officially and, therefore, by the community, there's still no way to "casually" downvote massively overrated deals like this one.

A lot of people's time is being wasted.

      • +3

        True.. no bargains detected

      • there are tons of bargains. It's like a garage sale, but with links instead

      • The lionfish counts crabs, shrimp, and small fish among its prey. It is a skillful predator that uses special swim bladder muscles to move very precisely and has natural camouflage that helps it stalk prey. It hides in rock crevices to wait for its prey and then ambushes it as it passes. It can spread its large fins, open its jaws, and swallow its prey in one single motion. When approaching prey, the lionfish is capable of blowing jets of water to disorient its target. A lionfish always swallows its food whole.

    • They're not fooling anyone, at least not anyone regular here.

hey guys, did a search for all products and sorted by price.close enough to the list. enjoy!

Thinking of getting new headphones. Any to recommend?

    • +3

Love Dick's autocorrect error: "superb right 5mm LEDs" instead of "super bright".

  • +1

I picked today the Kindle Paperwhite NextGen that I bought last Friday and it was cheaper then. Now it went back up in this "almost everything on sale" deal.

  • +2

    wow so much effort.
there will be another sale tomorrow

So much useless junk, how about tablets, phones, TV and consoles, or maybe even camera and GPS?

    • +3

Dick Smith is pretty much a junk store since they got out of real electronics. They have a few big name phones and tablets but the rest is low end cheapo model TVs etc.

      • +1

Completely agree. The killed their core business and reason to exist.
        They are a junkshop.

        • I think Gen Y has a lot to answer for this.. "Why would you learn to solder up your own crystal set when you can just stream music online using a plastic Meep!"

        • +1

          @snoo:
Bet you if actual Mr Richard "Dick" Smith was CEO again, he would have the store firing on all cylinders in no time. It lost itself with all the ownership changes, and misguided marketing directional changes.

  • The Kaiser Baas Photo Scanner looks like a bargain if you need such a thing http://www.dicksmith.com.au/apple-ipad/kaiser-baas-ipad-phot… - selling for $149 at JB but only $33.52 here. They have a different model for $55.87 http://www.dicksmith.com.au/printers-scanners-faxes/kaiser-b… .

The Laser Presenter Pen for $12.73 also seems OK http://www.dicksmith.com.au/computer-accessories/dick-smith-…

There's also the Nerf Terradrone for $56.07 http://www.dicksmith.com.au/babies-kids/nerf-terradrone-dsau…

Some of these things you might find a bit cheaper elsewhere if you can be bothered looking, although for me dealing with a bigger company like this is usually worth a couple of bucks when it comes to warranty etc.

  • good job

  • Can't seem to find it anywhere, but does this 'One day sale' end tonight or tomorrow?

    • +4

      It ends weekly.

      • The one day sale lasts for a week? I'm confused.
Or do you mean it's on every tuesday?

        • They have a "one day sale" every other day.

Just a few quick nice sound solutions :)

  • eneloop considered cheap?

    • +1

      nope, normal sale price

  • -1

I need the under $400 GoPro 4 Silver they had last year on their ebay store

  • +6

So far everything I've looked at has been cheaper on their eBay store and that's before even applying the 15% off code (CPICKUP15) for click & collect.

    • yeah most things are cheaper on their ebay store.. i've only come across one and that was the Logitech M950t

    • Trick is find cheap item here. Search on their ebay store. If there, then likely same price. Apply coupon and save at least another 15%

    • D'oh!

I could have saved $17 on those 2 packs Canon ink.

      Oh well…

  • any good securiy camera on sale?

  • buy it off ebay dicksmith and receive a further %15 off

  • So many mobile and tablet cases…
Pity the Logitech trip was not available for delivery…
Not really much else that stood out…

  • +3

this one gets the award for biggest deal that isn't a deal.
won't be long before this is moved to the forum.

Though of course I agree that this has been a nice gesture from snoo.

just got home and I find this with 525 Votes
what great work op and others, well done
bad luck for me as its after 12 one day sale is finished

    • +2

Well you didn't miss much, TBH there aren't any bargains.

    • Prices haven't changed yet.

  • Original prices are mostly bulls@#t. Bought the NERF Terradrone three months ago for $28.95. Memory card prices are from 2000 not today, was in DS today and bought SanDisk 8GB SDHC class 10 for $9.95 over the counter

  • Why does the OP chart say 26/05/2015?

    • +2

that would be a thing called the date. mate.

      • No kidding Einstein, but why is it wrong? Deal expiry appears to be after that date.

    • It's the date the two price lists were captured. 23rd and 26th May.

  • Can anyone recommend a good charger for eneloops?

  • Is the Belkin Laptop Cooling fan worth it/any good?: http://www.dicksmith.com.au/computer-accessories/belkin-lapt…

  • Which would be the best USB Hub to purchase as well as a micro usb charger that doesn't have 2 separate cables?

  • Thanks. Managed to find a few useful items

  • -7

Did anyone really paid for full price for these? I mean in 3000 old fashioned and demode products you will find something interesting But how smart they used product code so no one knows what is happening! Good on dicksmith!

    • Dick Smith didn't use just product code, I think that was just how the OP processed it.

It was much easier to pick a category of interest & search DS, with name & images. That was pointed out a few times in deal.

And DS eBay was much cheaper for everything I looked for.

I picked quite a few products that were over 80% off price in store a few days ago - the listed full price :-)

So can confirm on most items I bought, I had checked price in store & was full price listed here.

Wouldn't have known if OP hadn't posted deal.

  • The ethernet cables seem pretty cheap, ~ $4 for 10m.

  • +1

Love OzBargain Life. Late night raids on the DSE Ebay store. Lovin it!

  • Well planned, well made, well done mate! Clothes off to you!

  • There's nothing I really need..

  • +1

    Mega list, mega effort!

  • +2

Almost everything….. except anything you want.

  • +3

Please halp. Have the prices gone back up? Can anyone else confirm?

    • +2

Looks that way to me :(

    • Not everything has yet, but it looks like they are in the process of restoring the prices back to normal, so if u still find anything interesting, better be quick.

  • -6

Looks like the sales been pulled on the high end indoor antennas.

  • Got a TV on credit card points a few months back, but needed a new antenna/tv cable. This deal hit the spot! Thanks OP :)

  • +3

seriously, apart from batteries and chargers, anything worth noting? I can't find any real catches

    • The Sennheiser HD449 price was good. Still available cheap in their eBay store, plus 15% less if you use the click&collect coupon.
      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/261720003453

  • Looks like the sale has ended (the sale ends 26/05/2015). They are now having a Midweek Sale. I missed out! :(

    • +1

No doubt it will be followed by their end of week sale.

    • Check their eBay listings, most prices are comparable to the sale price (some a little cheaper, some a little bit more) and you can get an additional 15% off using the click&collect coupon.

  • Offer's expired?

    • looks to be

      • :(

    • Damn, missed it.

  • Looking at UNIDEN DECT1015 Cordless Phone, $17.51 on your list, original price $24 smth. When you click, it is $32.95. Is it correct? When the sale price will be applied?

    • The sale has ended. But for some reason their search results are still showing the discounted price.

      • Their search pages are cached - not sure how often they purge this, but looks like they changed their front end item prices about 30mins ago.
Unfortunately this can't be exploited legally. You can't legally add the items to your cart from the search with yesterdays cached price, and then apply the new discount for today.

    • $19.31 in DSE's eBay store, using the 15% click&collect code takes the price down to $16.41

So which website is your next target? And how do we subscribe to your service?

    • +1

      suggestions anyone?

      • I can only suggest the commonly known websites.

Harvey Norman (they have good sales so that could be a good one); Coles and Woolworths perhaps; BigW and K-mart - but their websites are limited.

        Perhaps Myers.

Or we could get a little adventurous…

        Victorias Basement, Masters, Bunnings, OFFICEWORKS

        :)

Anyhow keep up the good work. If this is something you're able to turn into a service let me know, would love to get this kind of info on a regular basis, and I suspect that scripting is beyond my capabilities.

        • I'll see what i can do.

  • That was a looooong day
