USD I presume. Nice specs though. I think my old Xperia Z has more 4G bands, but you should be able to get 1800Mhz 4G on Vodafone, Telstra and Optus in many areas (plus the 2600Mhz should help for Telstra and Optus).

  • +1

Been out for a month or two now. Good specs for the price. Only downside is lack of backlit buttons at the bottom (but has led notification apparently).

  • +9

Use code LK3NOTE to bring the price down to $US157.98

Very tempted, have been eyeing for a cheap but great spec Chinese android for a while…. Wonder if it's worth pulling the trigger….

  • Bought it ! Superior to Zenfone2 but at lower cost

    • Why is this superior? apart from not having an intel processor

      • +1

Better battery life is one reason in favour of K3 note. I'm tempted for this reason. A minus is it comes with a lot of bloatware I've heard. Not sure how easy or not this stuff is to remove.

        • I'm pretty interested as my Zenfone won't run some apps i need. I'm also unsure if the dual sim will work the same way.

Anyone know if the bands will work well in AUS?

        • @tds:
There's a thread on the whirlpool forums on this one. You might want to check it out and maybe ask there.
          http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2393953
Edit: Didn't realize this link's already been posted.

        • @tds:

What apps won't run on your Zenfone?

        • @superforever:
          Ones only compiled for ARM.

    • Not necessarily superior, the Zenfone definitely has more 4G bands that are needed in Australia.

      • +1

I wish they would quote the bands and not just the frequencies. Just because it is the same frequency, that doesn't mean it is the same band.

This phone is missing the really important 4G (for the near future) band 28 700MHz as it will provide the bulk of good indoor reception and long distance 4G.

  • +5

Just bought it with TOLL shipping and the promo code via Paypal. Conversion from: -$221.32 AUD, Conversion to: $163.97 USD, Exchange rate: 1 Australian Dollar = 0.7408 US Dollars. RBA rate today is A$/US$ 0.7705 so that is a terrible exchange rate from PayPal.

    • +5

NEVER let paypal convert. Either pay in usd with your cc (visa / Mastercard conversation rate) and you might be charged 3% transaction fee from bank (unless your with citibank) .. Or convert on website if possible. That always works out cheaper than paypal.

      • +1

255 shipped from AU on ebay, dunno if thats worth the extra 30$ tho.
Was there a time frame for the shipping?

        • +1

+1 I contacted this seller and he flashes the international rom into them within 2 days and typically gets the phone to you within 5 working days. Much quicker than Gearbest most likely and you know you're getting a phone that's setup to work here.

        • +1

@Monojoker: Bought from here. No bloatware, firmware is vibeui.2.5.1512,CWM recovery via adb, rooted OK.

        • @Monojoker: is the ebay seller gadgetz6

        • @Monojoker:

Are they all flashed international ROM or you have to request.

        • @superforever: I messaged the seller and the reply was they take 2 days handling to flash the international rom in so I think they do it regardless without having to ask.

      • Last time when I bought the dashcam I selected AUD on the site but up to paypal it still in USD and convert for me.

    • +1

bought some stuff from Germany on ebay last night. Noticed that the discrepancy between the ebay 'estimated' conversion rate and the actual paypal conversion rate keeps getting worse and worse (for both Euro and USD).

Ebay estimated AU $108.64 + AU $22.15 , while it ended up being $139.52 AUD (= €93.90 EUR 1 AUD = 0.67 EUR) on paypal. Almost nine bucks more.

This is beyond a joke. Especially considering that Paybal is owned by Ebay (or not any more?!). I am pretty sure they do this on purpose to 'trick' people into buying stuff as it looks like a great deal. Than when you come the check out the deal gets a whole lot worse. False Advertising!!!!

      • +1

        28degrees or citibank CCs

    • True re the terrible exchange rate, but it's similar to what you'd get from your bank if you went in asking to buy some USD.

  • +3

Looks good. But our exchange is so crap at the moment makes it average. Good Specs and probably better than zenfone 2

  • Wow that looks like a decent phone. Lenovo any good at making them tho? My S3 has been killed (by kogan's warranty team grrr).

    • Can't speak for their phones but their first 3G Thinkpad tablets were terrible. I had one which was sent back for repairs three or four times. One it only lasted a couple of days. My MIL repaired hers twice before the warranty ran out. Utter junk. It was a known manufacturing problem.

      • +2

Mine just died after 3 years of service, it no longer boots and I cannot repair it because the bootloader is locked… It was the Thinkpad Tablet 3g (Android) with the N-trig stylus. It's actually a pretty decent tablet.

        • OK you had a pretty good run - if you go on to the forums, EVERYONE had problems with that tablet, often multiple times. It was a very well designed tablet though, I'd certainly agree with that.

        • +1

Mine also worked up until I bought a zenfone 6 and didn't have a need for a 10" tablet. It's been in a drawer for the last year or so.

  • There is a small WP thread on this phone.
    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2393953
    Looks like goods value.

  • Wow didn't know that lenovo made mobiles. But at this price have a suspicion that these won't be as good as their excellent laptops

    • I have 2 lenovo phones. I'm happy with them. Though 1 is a year old and only has 1 GB ram and the camera is ho-hum but it only cost $80 and does all I need.

    • +1

Lenovo has been making phones for quite a while now even before their acquisition of Motorola from Google.

  • Thanks op, got one! Was looking at UMI Hammer for a while but this is a much better phone.

  • good phone at a great price but i thought this was a little weird
SIM Card Type: One is Standard SIM Card, the other is Micro SIM Card

  • +1

This is a throwaway if it breaks down. No hopes of getting any service from Gearbest.

Lenovo K3 Note TABLET 4G LTE 5.5" Android 5.0 Lollipop US $157.98 Delivered Gearbest.

Tiny bit small for a tablet dont ya think?

  • Good price, good specs. However no NFC, no LTE 700MHz (for Telstra & Optus)

  • +1

Strange that Tinydeal does not sell these K3 Note's (as far as I can see).

Closest is the K3 "Lemon" (I sh*t you not) that has the 5" screen, 1g Ram, 1.2Ghz and Android 4.4 for AUS$181.50 delivered, which is still not a bad price for those specs.

    • And you missed the best feature (according to the link you gave)

"Lenovo K3 has charming specifications for its Qualcomm MSM8916 1.2GHz processor with 1GB RAM and 16GB ROM."

      • +3

What about "Google Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS reveals tons of new adventures to your Lenovo K3?"
Also "…enjoy more multi-media yourself" which is what I always say to people (who I don't like) that say to me "enjoy multi-media."
But the best bit has to be "upload yours", which is what I always say to people who…

    • Hang on- Tiny deal also has the Lenovo A916 for the same price as the K3 Lemon, but screen is 5.5 instead of 5.0(K3 Lemon), cpu is 1.4 instead of 1.2(K3 Lemon), camera mp is 13 instead of 8mp (K3 Lemon)…damn now I'm confused again.

Ahh bugger it. Got the K3 Note for me, got the A916 for the daughter. Had been sitting on the K3 Note for a while but the price hasn't dropped as far as I can tell.

  • If anybody is wondering, yes the battery is removable and can handle an SD card up to 32GB. Had to Google because it wasn't listed on GearBest.

Looks like a good phone for the price, changed to AUD + code LK3NOTE shows up at $207.29 in the checkout. Though PayPal says $207.29 and then $157.98 USD.. Any idea what it shows both and which one it's trying to charge?

I'm not keen to log into PayPal because I'm not sure if I want to buy it yet. Good post OP.

  • a good review of the phone

    and dont forget 5.6% cashback

  • Anyone knows if we can use 3g/4g data on both sims or 3g/4g on sim 1 and 2g on sim 2? Thanks

  • +1

The deal still has an hour and a bit, guessing the timeframe was made to end at midnight to coincide with the end of the day. But it is still available.
A good deal, would take it if I had the money.

  • Got one. Let's see.

  • +1

Bought the white one! Thanks Op :D
Was wondering if the yellow back cover can be bought separately.
Looked at Ebay and AliExpress, but to no avail :(

  • +1

This is still working, the timer extended another 7 days and the promo code still works for now.

  • Can anyone post there experiences on GearBest? Mate is saying I'm silly for buying from 'overseas' site.

    Cheers

    • +1

See below you're not silly for buying online it's perfectly legitimate and I'm sure many here have successfully purchased from Gearbest (especially LED torches LOL). But be aware stock levels are questionable as per my post below. Your only real risk is how long you will wait, not if you'll receive the item or not. Pay with Paypal so you have buyer protection and you're quite safe IMO.

    • Yeah I bought 2 phones from gearbest and they are pretty good. about 15 days to deliver on the slow option. They send you a photo of the package when they ship. I bought a mlais m52 which has been quite good, and an mlais m4 which is a great phone but the GPS is weak and the compass is spastic. Which is pretty disappointing. Google maps navigation is just passable if the phone is clear to the sky to the car in a cradle. Don't know whether to complain to gearbest but i think this might be a general problem with that model. Really looking it it now I would have bought this lenovo k3 over the m4 note.

      • my samsung galaxy III needed the phone clear to the sky to the car in a cradle

        • Thanks for the replies fellas.

          altamoic - Say what?

        • +1

@2stroksmokr: sorry, english is my third language. what I meant was - my G3 needed clean line of sight with satellite(s) from its position on the dash board cradle.

  • +2

Be aware Gearbest may not ship for an extended period and will not let you know. I ordered one 2 weeks ago with the website showing "ships in 3-6 days". After a week of the order still "processing" I contacted them to ask when it would ship. Was told they were not expecting stock for 2 weeks so I asked for a refund. Refund was processed OK but still took another 5 days to get my money back. Beware of drop shippers they are at the mercy of their suppliers who may or may not be able to supply on time.

Also if you're not desperate for a new phone now, check out the Elephone P7000 and soon to be released P8000. Once some full reviews start coming in this might be a superior choice for not a lot more $.

    • Those Elephones look the good. Thanks for mentioning them. Might wait.

      • +1

my workmate bought an elephone p6i a year ago. I played with it and was impressed by its responsiveness and quality.

  • Pulled the trigger. I'll be in big trouble if it doesn't support Optus 4G bands in Melbourne. Though it says it support 2100 MHz frequency. I am not sure about the bands.

    • lol Maybe should have checked first?
Anyway, if this is the same part then it will work at 1800 and 2300 (and 2100 but that's not available in Melbourne.)

Edit: Oh, just noticed deal spec's say 2600 (and not 2300), so it's probably an FDD-only, sans-2300 version like the one here.

  • +1

if my thl w8 died right now this phone would be on the top of my list… i think i just jinxed myself, it's gonna live forever!

    • +4

apparently you can charge a thl w8 in the microwave ;)

      • Yeah I quick charge my tablet and phone with my morning boiled eggs in mlthe microwave before work.

        (Works 50% of the time)

  • +2

I ordered 2 of these phones from gearbest on 12th on May but they did not have any in stock. They don't mention of stock on their website, took order kept money for few weeks and when I contacted them after 15 days got answer wait for two more weeks. If they don't have stock why they take orders. Look very dodgy people. Phone appears to be good price is good if they can send you one for that price. I will say bay this phone but not from these gear shit people.

    • yeah, they seem a bit hit and miss at times. but that said, every order I've ever made has come through within usually hk/china postage time.

Whilst they can be slow and pre-sell (as your experience indicates) they do usually get their orders out (aside from some of those super elcheapo deals -according to some members here, how ever I have received all the orders I have ever made).

      I guess YMMV

      • +2

You may be right you can buy $2 to $20 items from them. I bought few flashlights cable testers from them but I think it is not a good idea to leave $400 with them to play arround for a month and let them try luck. They had this phone in deals not in pre-sale items and they don't even mention any stock level when you order. In other way they refunded my money after 15 day when I pushed them to send item or refund.

    • Yep very slow, but you get that from Chinese online shops 80% of the time…

  • i was one of gearbest loyal customers but for elephone p7000 i used coupon and was able to get thr $159.99 price, i checked out with the price but when gearbest went to paypal page price changed to full without any error or notification. These guys looks doggy to me because after using a coupon price should not change even after selecting postage method and all the stuff

    • You are right.

    • sounds like an technical error between their website and paypal.

      • +1

nop, i talked to their customer support and they said i needed to complete the order lol what a childish reply it was, When site went to paypal and showed me full price i did not pay and closed the site. gearbest sent me an email confirming my order has been placed on full price but in order status it shows waiting for payment.

        • +3

          morons

    • Don't think you could use a coupon to get $159.99. The price was solely for people who reserved on the Elephone website. (and you need an ELE code)

see promotion here, another coupon code EP7000 is still valid and will give $32 discount ($197.99 after discount for elephone p7000)

        • +1

Then that makes sense. It was a flash sale with 50 units, once it's gone - the price goes back up to $229.
That's simply how flash sale works, before you actually paid… it has the potential to be bought by someone else… yes shitty but just how it works. Same with the Pandawill daily flash sale, too.

  • +1

I ordered few stuff from them but yet I didn't receive any. I raised a paypay dispute and waiting for the out come. Be careful buying from these guys specially anything more than $10-$20.

  • Let time when I bought the Dashcam I selected AUD on Gearbest but went to Paypal checkout it showed USD again.

    Is it normal?

  • No dispatch still.

    • +1

Don't expect anything this soon mate. I still didn't receive the stuff I bought 2 months ago.

      • Pandawill on the other hand seem to be quite prompt in shipping of these phone according to the customer feedback provided.

        • +1

They're prompt to ship out after the order is placed but unless you want to wait 30-45 days you have to pay ~30USD for the "express" methods which Gearbest offer for free (eg Toll/DHL). So it works out almost equal given Gearbest are so slow to dispatch (probably waiting on dropship stock) vs Pandawill prompt dispatch but slow (free) shipping methods…

The problem is not the fact Gearbest don't dispatch straight away it's that they quote items as "instock" when they aren't and don't advise of any shipping delays. When you then contact them they joyfully announce stock is "two or more weeks away" - terrible customer service.

      • +1

2 months are you sure hasn't lost it?

Did you select register post which also $0.00.

        • I chose:
          Expedited Shipping
          Estimated Shipping Time
          4 - 7 business days
          Shipping Cost (weight: 0.55 kg)

        • No, they don't say they posted it, so can't be lost. I raised a Paypal dispute and waiting for the outcome. Paypal process is also a real pain and takes ages. Better avoid those kind of guys.

        • @Ozdeals:

Did put a support ticket what did they say?

        • -1

          @superforever:
Obviously he didn't, he just complaint and keeps posting negative comments
From my understanding, if you are with normal mind, you need to contact the customer service to get some solution.
I see nothing from him but complaining only.

        • @helnandez: You should be working for Gearbest of course, good that you appear here. I tried to contact customer service so many times, but there wan no resolution for my case, by the time I escalated the issue to Paypal and then paypal refunded my money full. After that I never bothered contacting them and never will!

        • -3

          @Ozdeals:

See you saying I am working in them, does Gearbest have a Perth Office?
          Is that the truth?
Can I say you are working in Harvey Norman of course then?

So you get your refund and you should buy locally from Harvey Norman
never watch ozbargain, it is full of kogan ,dwi and grey import info.

Don't call yourself Ozdeals, call yourself Mr Bad luck or Never deal with Gearbest is more vivid.
