SanDisk 8GB Extreme PRO MicroSD $8.95 Delivered @ PC Byte (Save $16)

tightarse-1500

Record Equalling Deal Number 1500!

Totally humbled by the fact I've joined the great one (theearth) as equal leading deal poster. As you all know, I put my heart and soul into this caper, and always try to find the best possible deals for the community. Hopefully tonight's is no exception.

A few weeks ago, I started PM'ing store reps in the hope they would provide me with a great offer to celebrate this milestone. Suffice to say I was inundated, but I promised myself I'd go with whoever wrote back first. Well, it was basically a dead heat between two great stores… PC Byte & one other. It was a tough choice to make, but with both reps' approval, we decided to post both deals. One tonight, and the other on Monday at 9am (the reason for this will become apparent next week).

So tonight's deal is the bees-knees of MicroSD cards… the lightning quick 8GB Sandisk Extreme PRO at a crazy $8.95 delivered straight from PC Byte's Sydney warehouse (not overseas). That's a massive $16 saving over MSY & others. You'll have it at your front door within 5 business days, and has full Australian warranty. There are 800 in stock, but purchase is limited to 1 per customer for fairness.

Store rep Francesca is an absolute pleasure to deal with. We spent over an hour on the phone today putting the logistics of this deal together. I'd recommend this store to anyone without hesitation. She will be around for part of the evening to field any questions you may have, so feel free to ask in the comments.

Have a great night everyone, and thanks again for your support over the past 18 months. I love what I do more than you can possibly imagine. Peace out - TA.

And this from someone who has made the valuable contribution of 1 deal that managed 1 positive vote and 3 negs.

      • +1

Sorry for disappointing you, but I'm not losing my soul and making Scotty a very rich man in the process.

        • yet you're still using the site.

      • -3

At least he made a valuable post, an 8gb stick is junk. Are your feelings hurt?

  • +4

    Congrats TA.
    Live long and tighter.

  • Well done mr tightarse.

Come up with an unlock code for the truckload of lumias around at present and you WILL be god.

  • Their sandisk extreme 64gb appears to be a good price. Good for Gopro Hero4
    What's the difference between U1 and U3? U3 being a newer version??

    http://pcbyte.com.au/sandisk-64gb-extreme-micro-sd-sdxc-45mb…

    • Hi wjb,

The difference between U1 and U3 is -
U1 has a minimum write speed of 10MB/s
U3 has a minimum write speed of 30MB/s

      Cheers,
      Francesca

      • So would the Sandisk Extreme U3 version be better than the Sandisk Extreme U1 version? How come the U1 version is more expensive?

        • Hi YellowKnight,

Yeap, the U3 version is better.
The U1 version is currently a few dollars cheaper than the U3 Version.
I might also add that the U1 version (45MB/s) is not in production anymore and we have a limited supply of those ones.

          Cheers,
          Francesca

      • any discounts for 64gb extreme or extreme pro? :D

        • Hi wjb,

          Please PM me =)

          Cheers

  • wheres JV's 2 cents on this?

    • JV would demand 3 cents technically. 3 cents needs to be rounded up in cash!

    • ah vj vj

He's got to wait for the kids to be sleeping before he gets to work.

      • +1

He's probally fallen asleep, it's a long post.

  • Well done mate. You have saved me quite a bit over the years. Keep it up

  • Excellent work TA!

  • Thx 4 heads up TA. I brought Micro SDs cards off pcbyte before & I've got to say their service is perfect. Got the card the next day after they shipped my order.
Definitely buying into this deal since I need fast & cheap Micro SD for my win tablet ;)

  • Really appreciate the deals you've posted over the years thanks again.

  • Many congratulations TA…. never let it be said that you don't have short arms and deep pockets :)

  • What good is it for someone to gain the whole world (earth), yet forfeit their soul?

    • He can use his money to buy more souls? May be even at OB discount? :P

    • Depends on if it was a good deal…

    • I'm sorry if that seems trite (it is a quote, in case you don't recognise it, so it is not just my opinion). I was struck by the juxtaposition of theearth's achievement, and the op's similar efforts in his work here.

  • Perfect for the syma x5c drone. Thanks

  • +2

Top effort, keep up the good work! You are a real asset to this community and your quality deals are what keeps me refreshing the Ozbargain feed on a very regular basis haha

  • Any chance of the deal applying to a 64gb card?

  • Congrats mate!! Keep up the great work.

  • Upvote just for your 1500 posts.

  • Thanks TA. Keep up the good work.

  • Bought one as a tribute to your commitment to the tightest of arses.

  • +1 for heart and soul into this caper.

    Great work TA!

For those of you who prefer size to speed, you can check this deal here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/198936

16 gigs micro sd for $8.89

    • +3

For those of you who prefer size to speed

      thats what she said!

  • Congrats TA. It isn't just the deals but the colour and movement of the post and subsequent comments. Been a longtime lurker and appreciated many a TA deal.

  • +1

Congrats etc., I think TA got the point.

Back to the deal, 8gb for $8… Doesn't sound that amazing. Am I missing anything?

    • -2

No not at all it is the standard quality TA deal.

      • … and yeah I'm sure it is, but I just don't get it.

Like it's a dollar per gb… I'm sure there are better deals. How fast do we need them to be? Also, only 8gb… for what?

    • This card is for people who want the fastest card, but don't need the bigger size.

      • +1

        I'm sure it is.

But please educate me cuz I never needed something as fast as this, to warrant this price - gb ratio price.

What do you need this speed for?

        • +3

Small fast cards are useful for DSLR cameras to take hight speed burst of high-res photos. Normally shooting photos won't be needing as much storage space as shooting video.

        • @edfoo:

Thank you for an objective answer, rather than some circle-jerk-worthy comment.

So in a nutshell, this deal mainly catered to a specific niche, namely DSLR owners.

        • @inose: May be also useful for people who don't like the idea of "having all your eggs in one basket", so they prefer to carry multiple smaller cards instead of one big card, so if your card fail you won't lose all your content.

Personally this card doesn't suit my use too, as I am also looking for a fast 64Gb card for my new Hero 4 Silver :)

Edit: Years before all these current craze of Full HD and 4K video shooting with cams and action cams, 4Gb-16Gb Extreme Pro cards are mainly catered for professional DSLR shooters who want the fastest, most durable and most reliable memory cards.

      • and then what are you going to do with your fastest card?

  • Ozbargained? Stick at checkout
    Congrats TA

    • Hi edgar28,

Can you please PM me your error message?
I will have my colleague look into this for you.

      Cheers
      Francesca

  • Would this http://pcbyte.com.au/kingston-64gb-microsdxc-class-10-uhs-i?… 64GB card be fine for a ZTE Blade S6 mobile to play music, videos and take photos?

    • Hi ryangus,

Yes that memory card will work without any problems in the ZTE Blade S6.
The speeds on the microSD is more than adequate. And your phone is compatible with the microSD too.

      Cheers,
      Francesca

      • Thanks got it

  • Congratulations mate. Ozbargain site wouldn't be the same without you. And to support you and Francesca, even though I don't need an 8G MicroSD card as I think its too small, I bought one anyway - purely on that ozbargain spirit. Living by the motto of go broke saving money :-)
