    Foxtel is a dying company…. there I said it.

    Streaming services will kill foxtel, sure it might take a few years but foxtel will go the same way as blockbuster video.

    It already starting to happen in America.

    5 years from now foxtel will be a shadow of what it is today.

      live sport, till AFL/NRL/Cricket manage to do it to the same standard as NBA.tv or similar it'll stick around.

      If you look at what's happening in America you'll see paid TV is doing very well so I'm not sure why you think that.

    • Unfortunately the coalition are buying the 2 old hfc networks, and their going to be filling in the blackspots, effectively giving a big boost to good ol Rupert's foxtel… Sure rupert has to pay a connection fee if someone connects foxtel via the new 'hfc nbn', but i'm sure it's a pittance compared to how much it would have cost him to fix his own network.

      No point, Netflix will dominate easily.

      • way too expensive to compete with the cheaper steaming market. Most people nowadays know the tv shows they want to watch and Netflix is a perfect fit for that. Most of the good Tv shows on Foxtel are gone or are rarely on, I used to love tuning into TLC to watch that man smother himself with ridiculous amounts of food.

        Errr - Are you sure, a couple of years ago this worked for me, but the last few years after the promo has expired the movies have stayed on the IQ2 box but have been unavailable for viewing without an upgrade.

      I subscribed to Foxtel (minimum HD package $60) just for the sports. Nothing else. What finally pushed me over the edge is Foxtel grabbing half the Formula 1 coverage for the next five years. I don't care about the documentaries, movies, kids channels, etc. Just having a reliable stream of select live sport I want to watch is enough for me.

      Once I got Foxtel I discovered just how much 'filler' content there is. Dozens of junk channels that I doubt many people watch. A dedicated home shopping channel? Oh yeah, hot viewing right there.

    12:07am here in melbourne and it's not working for me yet aha. not really that I care as long as I have my sports channels… and Fox8 for the good ol' cartoons

  • I got foxtel via telstra and its still greyed out via my lemon IQ3.. no email of the offer either.

    edit: Actually looks like its slowly being activated some movies channels work some dont…

  • Actually after unplugging my IQ2 from the power, it has now gained access to the movie channels!

  • Mine's busy recording stuff now (just have the basic package)

    But after being on Netflix for a while, I was amused to see quite a number of the movies are on Netflix anyway… If anything, it's showing why NOT to pay $25pm more for Foxtel movies…

    I got Foxtel from Optus and works for me and in HD* too.

    *Probably because I already have the HD pack

    • Movie channels are from 401 to 415 on your remote just select Chanel on remote
