      • all 4 cards with different card numbers?

        • Yes, look for the discussion elsewhere in this deal about supp cards from Amex, ANZ, Westpac, NAB, etc.

    • +1

Yep. Bought 4 x $100 Coles Myer gift cards today at Vintage Cellars. They had a rack at the counter of all different gift cards. I even got to choose the style I wanted so I opted for "Congratulations" as I felt it was appropriate.

      • +1

May I ask which Vintage Cellars did you go to?

        • +1

          Roseville 2069 (on Pacific Highway)

        • +1

@PBG: thanks a lot for sharing the info.

        • Wife went to VC in Chatswood Chase today. She asked if she could buy a $200 gift card and pay $100 each on two different Amex cards but the sales assistant said she needed to buy 2 * $100 cards. So she did - no shortage of Coles gift cards at this store.

        • @SydneySwan: thanks for your update! If I didn't go to Stanmore VC I would try Chatswood Chase VC. I bought 4x$100 at Stanmore.

  • +1

So new subscribers can't get access to this deal anymore (yesterday onwards), don't see how Netflix can charge you a second time before 7 Oct given the first month is free?

  • I will be a new Netflix member. How should I take advantage of this? I have 1 Optus voucher too. If I understand it correctly I will have to make two seperate accounts as the optus one gives 3 months free which would probably cut it too close for the amex to get charged enough to be eligible for the cashback. Oh well, can't win everywhere.

  • Once again Vintage Cellars in Bourke street Melbourne have hidden their cards. Don't bother going there.

    • Again!! I didn't even bother trying them after the last debacle…

    • +1

The guy at Macquarie centre tell me the gift card sold out.
And give me a look on his face.
      I known his is BSing.
      F**k
Definitely hidden all the Coles Myer card before I went there

      • Can I grab a Coles Myer Giftcard at Coles and buy it at Vintage Cellars?

        • +3

That's what I do. Last time during Dick Smith $15 for $100 cash back offer, I took some wish cards from Woolworths and loaded at dick smith. You can always get the card from Coles next door.

        • @Shikha966: It would be funny if the store intentionally hides these giftcards and ask you where you get it from.

        • +1

just tell them that the other day you grabbed the gift card from the store, but did not load as the queue was too long. The card was in your pocket.

      • +2

Went into Macquarie too and i asked for Coles Myer gift card and he asked me "why?" with a look in his face.

        • +1

i can imagine this guy working at a pharmacy and asking "why?" every time someone went in to buy a pack of condoms

        • Yes, went to Macquarie Centre last night, they said they didn't have Coles Myer giftcard and only have Vintage Cellars giftcard. Went to Vintage Cellars at Stanmore this afternoon, they had lots of Coles Myer gift cards on the shelf and I bought 4 and got emails from AMEX. :-)

        • @fkwong: You should only buy 1 and load it up with $400, using 4 different $100 transactions. You can actually load a maximum of $500 on each card. That's why Vintage Cellars run out of cards so quickly, because everyone is doing multiple $100 cards.

        • @forumninja: Ok I see. Thanks for your update.

        • @fkwong: Isn't it limited to one transaction of $100 per AMEX card? Or did I miss an earlier post on this. Scanning posts now!!

        • @peck: yes you are correct but I have 4 Amex cards.

        • +4

Vintage Cellars @ MQ centre are jerks. Hide cards, asking why with suspicious look.

His looking like he has racism all over his face

Would like to say to him Why do you ask why? How about ask your MUM WHY!?

  • Did you guys get email saying you got $15 credit after buying the gift card for vintage cellars?

    • Yes, got it straight away.

      • :(
Wonder why mine didn't. Should I email amex?

        • Not to worry because sometime people don't get email but still get credit after a few days. Check your transactions later ok. If after a week still don't get it then contact Amex.

        • @fkwong: yeah… i guess. thanks :)

  • +3

Wonder what Vintage Cellars has to lose from this Amex deal that makes them hide the gift cards?

    • +2

I'm wondering the same, they sell it for $100, they see $100, what's the big deal?

    • +1

a speculation: they lose when you don't buy one of their overpriced bottles of booze and buy a gift card instead. then they also have to pay higher transaction fees when you use your amex.

edit: also, looking at the store locations in Perth, 11 out of their 12 stores are located in more affluent suburbs so they know they can get away with reaming their customers

      • +2

That's not really a loss so much as not profiting as much. But then it's not like I was going to buy anything from them otherwise, so it's a net gain for them.

        • +1

that's right. you'd think a transaction made is still money coming in. but to people like them, if they're not making record profits, they'll be crying poor.

      • Why the hell would a sales assistant care about profit margin? It's not like the own the company! (and even if they do via Wesfarmers, Vintage Cellars would add a pittance to their bottom line.

In fact, Wesfarmers were looking to sell off Vintage Cellars but haven't even found a buyer yet…

  • +1

For anyone in Brisbane, the Vintage Cellar on Turbot St has about 9 giftcards (they're right at the door, look to your left).

Just bought one, no issues - got an email from AMEX pretty much straight away saying that the statement credit should be in my account within 5 days.

    • Damn. Wonder why I didn't get email immediately.

      Did get one with liquorland..

  • As a new user I missed to create NetFlix account on the 07/07…
Not sure how to go about to get the benefit now

    • My understanding is sign up today, get first month free.
Billed 8.99 on 12/8 for second month
Billed 8.99 on 12/9 for third month

Thereby fulfilling the terms of the offer. In fact, you could sign up any day until 7/8 and still fulfill the terms of the offer.

      Do I have this incorrect?

      • I have no idea can someone clarify? Because you have to spend $17.98 before 07/10.

        So is it still ok?

      • This sounds right - I think! Would also like some concrete clarification, although I guess you won't know until you pay for your 2 months of Netflix and get the credit in your account. In any case I will sign up, I've been experiencing severe FOMO with everyone talking about House of Cards and Orange is the New Black!

  • Cannot see Netflix offer anymore? Is it still around for some card holders?

    • The deals usually have some sort of quota, after which they stop accepting registrations.

  • Tried Netflix on Minix neo looks terrible, however LG website TV and chromecast works well.

I don't think other than Roku/PS3 or HTC, anything else can't work on HD

  • +1

Just got a coles myers gift card from vintage cellars next to wynyard station.

  • Has anyone purchase a flight or giftcard from Expedia and get the credit ?

    • Register an eligible Card, spend $500 or more on hotels, in one or more transactions, online at Expedia, between 7 July 2015 and 3 August 2015 and receive one $50 statement credit. So the answer is no.

      • Ok, has anyone tried that before ? As you notice even though Amex prohibit buying giftcard from LL, VC and WW, they still give credit. Who knows for sure with Expedia flight purchase ? Will the statement says Flight booking or Expedia.com.au ?

        • +1

The rule of thumb in ozbargain is if it's online offer, they can track what you bought. While if it's in store, they can't. So unless you can find a physical store at expedia, you are pretty much out of luck.

Maybe you can try to book a flight and let us know?

        • Ok, can you explain DJ's online giftcard purchase that people said they got the credit too ?

        • @yht: The last DJs offer was online only and definitely worked for gift cards even though T&Cs said it wouldn't. Some retailers direct you to a different website when you just want to buy a gift card but DJs did not.

I would expect that Expedia's software being an online business is better then most physical stores that have an online presence so I doubt that buying a flight would work but would be very happy to be proved wrong.

        • +3

@yht: If you don't try, you don't know. Rather than asking for opinion and not accepting it, it will be more constructive if you just try it out yourself and solve it once for all for us.

        • Yes, you need to book from expedia.com.au

          you can use cashrewards.com.au

Can OP please make the Harris Farm and Vintage Cellar offers expired? I have just tried to register both offers and it says that the offers have reached maximum number of registered cards.

    • Can anyone else confirm?

      • Confirmed and set those 2 offers as expired.

        Thanks

  • +3

When I went to buy my gift cards @ Vintage Cellars (together with some wine), the first thing the checkout attendant asked is if I was purchasing these as part of the Amex offer. It wasn't clear at this point that I was doing anything even remotely tied to it. I said "yes" to see what she said. She promptly told me that gift cards are not included. I smiled, and said "I know". 2 minutes after the transaction - thank you email for taking up the Amex offer. BAM!

    • -4

gotta love the blatant lies they tell customers

      • To be fair she was just reiterating T&Cs. She wasn't to know it really does go through. Interesting that she raised it though.

      • This was not a blatant lie. The t&cs exclude gift cards. It is not the checkout attendant's fault if the software lets gift cards count.

      • -5

it is a lie, because pretty much everyone who has taken up this amex offer has had it go through. has anyone not received their credit from a vintage cellar's offer?

and, according to experiences of other ozbargainers, they also lie about the availability of gift cards.

  • For Harris Farm, can this purchase be done multi transactions? So more than once?

  • +2

Is it just me, or are the prices online for fruit & veggies pretty expensive, even after you factor in the 50% discount?

I was originally going to buy as many $100 gift cards as I could and spend later, but after browsing through the site, I can't see how those prices would be justified…

  • Anyone can confirm you received $50 statement credit after HF $100 giftcard purchase as I did not see it being confirmed in the comments above? Thanks in advance.

    • +1

Confirmed X 4 different AMEX cards. I confirm statement credits have all hit my statement also.

    • +1

      Confirmed received $50 statement credit.

  • Lots of Coles Gift Cards at Vintage Cellars Neutral Bay.

  • Vintage Cellars Broadbeach QLD refused to sell me any gift cards. Ridiculous!

  • +1

No problem at Vintage Cellars, Burnside Adelaide.

  • Has anyone had success booking via the Expedia mobile app and getting their $50 statement credit? I want to take advantage of this 12% off coupon

    Really? That's great.
