Bose QC25 Noise Canceling Headphone $309 @ Sydney International Airport

1370

If you have international flight, don't miss this deal. It's located after immigration security checked. I know it's not available for everyone, but if you are traveling then it's a good deal OR try to price match.

          @enslaved07:

I just ordered a pair from jbhifi. They were able to price match Sydney hi fi ($338) and I'm in Melbourne. Leaving for Canada tomorrow to claim the gst+ the go pro + sigma art lens from digidirect. All impulse buys thanks to oz bargain. Lol

    • I remember seeing QC15's at Costco for about that price. Are you sure it was QC25's?

      • were you wearing your glasses?

  • Never seen these at $309. Good price. Got a pair and are amazing at noise cancelling. At medium volume, I wont hear my nexus 4 ringing (at full volume).
It doesn't really cancel out everything.

  • Great price. But I only like in-ear ones. Sux i can't get this……..

    • See my post above about the QC20s

  • Just got these as a gift last week. Outstanding headphones.

    • And an outstanding gift-giver!

  • Used my set for 30 hours of flying recently and it's great for blocking out all engine and ventilation noises. For general use, if you use it without the NC feature it sounds pretty ordinary, but with the NC on (which is what you buy it for), it's awesome. Comfort wise I was quite happy to wear them for extended periods, but you do feel a bit of pressure over your ears after a while. Have seen these cheaper, but I think it's a worthwhile expense if you're traveling a lot (plane or even train for that matter).

I got these with the recent Myer deal for $319. They are really good on trains and aeroplanes! Great price. Get the black as the white gets really dirty.

    • Yes but what about the headphones?

      • What?

  • Anyone tried to do a price match ?

Are we sure that the 21-day policy applies to other sellers besides the official Bose stores?

Please note that the BOSE 21 Day Excitement Guarantee applies only to products that are available to be purchased online from bose.com.au. The guarantee applies to purchase of this range of products made online or directly from Bose over the phone or from one of the official Bose Stores in Australia and NZ.

Lifestyle® Systems are not included under the BOSE 21 Day Excitement Guarantee.

    EDIT:

Looks like resellers don't apply -"Also, please note that the Excitement Guarantee does not apply to Bose products purchased from Bose resellers."

  • As these are sold at the airport after immigration they are excluded from charging GST so should be normally $362, so not a big discount as people think. Better off buying for $330 with GST and getting refund at the TRS counter.

    • Try $340.
      309 + 30.9

    • +7

Lining up in the TRS line is the last thing I want to be doing.

    • plus 30-60 minutes of waiting outside the TRS office.(Sydney airport for me)

      • +2

I do it online now…..then you rock up and just had them the Q code, they scan it and off you go. Also an express line for Q code users. Never line up again….

        • not if you claim more than $1k goods. god, have to line up this weekend:(

  • Pre-qualify by saying that I am not much of an audiophile and normally cant spot much difference between different speakers etc.

I have been using and wearing out noise cancelling headphones for years, I used to have a FIFO job so flew weekly. I always had the noise cancelling headphones. Difference is that I normally picked up a set of Pioneers or something on COTD for $80 or so, would last me 2 - 3 years and then i would rinse and repeat. Not sure that $300 is a bargain for a noise cancelling headset. Maybe if you are able to pick out the subtle nuances of a violin concerto but for me to listen to an audiobook or plug into the plane's A/V system and watch a film my $80 beauties have been perfect! I am sure these are top quality for the discerning listener but I reckon there would be noise cancelling headsets of an OK quality from a reputable brand for much less than $300.

I don't like Bose equipment but there is no denying they are the kings on NC (no choice, they own most of the patents) but you don't buy this unit for sound quality (they are no better than beats) you buy them for the NC, if you want good sound though, your options are pretty limited unfortunately.
I used to run with Audio Technica's but they've discontinued they ANC9's and now just sit in the more budget space.

I have the in ear QC20's and they do a solid job, but I really wish there were some more options (sennheisers momentum wireless 2.0's look amazing but no way in hell can I justify $700)se

      • The two sets of Bose headphones i had were creaky and flimsy feeling, i have a habit of breaking stuff so i returned them and bought Audio Technica's ANC9's in my opinion far better sound quality than Bose, much stronger feeling headsets and i got them for $239.

You can still buy ANC7 or ANC9 headphones and they were recommended to me by a couple of Audio Engineers that i know (and oddly several flight crew have started conversations with me when they saw them saying - oh do you work in audio?).

I am sure the Bose do a good job but i have always found their equipment to be vastly overpriced.

The V-Moda Crossfade M-100s are equally superb headphones (with better sound quality, at least in the low end) and a little bit cheaper. The BOSE might be a little more comfortable though, I'm not too sure.

    • +2

I think you'll find the Crossfade's are noise ISOLATING. More about the fit on your ear (See: head-squeezing tightness) rather than any active technology to block out noise.
Source: I have a pair, and the sound is good, but they definitely don't do active noise cancelling.

    • apple vs orange

  • I have a white pair, like new. If anyone wants to swap their black qc-25's for white. Send me an message. I live in Perth

  • is this good for audio or ps4 gaming?

  • no price match at Sydney Hi Fi unfortunately.

Anyone tried to price match at JB?

  • Keep checking its price in DWI, they sold this QC 25 for 309 AUD a few months ago, the actual price is 309 + 309X0.02 surcharge + free delivery=315 AUD.

  • Any recommendations for decent budget in-ear noise cancelling ear phones?

    • nothing to see … move along

  • Anyone know if these would be available at the Melbourne airport for this price?

  • I haven't tried noise cancelling headphones before but I had great success on a recent international flight using these:

    http://www.hibermate.com/

I paired them with ear buds if I wanted to listen to something on my iPhone or through the plane's entertainment system.

I paired them with these ear plugs when I wanted to sleep:

    http://earplugsonline.com/

    Worked an absolute treat.

They are also great because the ear pads are super comy and you can lean your head against things in relative comfort.

The eye mask is a great bonus and is also super comfy.

They can then double for getting to sleep in noisy hotels etc on your holidays.

Oh and the hibermate is actually manufactured in Melbourne which means fast delivery.

    • How comfy is the fit of the hibermate? I'm flying to US soon and need something like this!

      • It fits very comfortably and is totally adjustable.

  • -4

over 100 + votes and it's only 40 dollars cheaper than in shops? Hardly a bargain.

    • +1

If you wanted these headphones, and it's $40 cheaper then anywhere else, then a bargain is exactly what it is.

      • -4

12% discount with the prerequisite that you're flying out from Sydney international? Yeah, not a bargain.

        • -1

Yeah not for you. But believe it or not, other people will fly out of Sydney International and want to buy these headphones.

  • +3

Perfect! I'm flying out tomorrow and had been waiting for a good price for this exact model. Thanks OP, you've made my day!

  • How much is UE Boom and UE Megaboom there?
(looks like they are a bit behind on the photo)

    • From my little memory, UE Boom is $174 and Megaboom is $300+. No deal on that. Bose soundlink mini 1 is $199 and mini 2 is $229.

  • made my long haul flight a lot easier to handle

  • MELBOURNE international duty free refused to price match. They said they had recently dropped their price and don't "do the price match thing"

They are $359 at Melbourne Aurport Duty Free

  • -2

I am guessing the price is of $309 is a "Duty Free" (really GST Free) price.

Anyone can buy these from a number of retailers (some currently advertise at$339) and easily claim back the GST at the airport.

It's easy to get the GST claim back app for your android or IOS device and all you have to do is product a hard copy of your GST paid receipt and you'll get back the GST component.

    • Only if you are happy to pay an extra $19 for shipping(Sydney Metro if you buy from eGlobal), wait for delivery and do the easy* TRS claim of course

  • just bought one from Sydney hifi at $388…

  • -3

I love babies and have a lot of sympathy for flying parents. I think they have a right to fly just as much as anyone else.

  • Anyone know if these are still on sale? I'm flying this weekend and deciding if I should wait until I've cleared customs

    • Just had a look at airport and it's back to $359 today.
