I wonder how many you can buy with individual transactions at the self check out???

Could mean 20% off macbook at Myer :-)

    • +4

I think gift cards have to go through normal checkout since you can't activate them at self checkouts usually. Will be interesting if the "next shop" allows you to get $10 off the next $50 gift card and also gives you another $10 off.

      • +4

Unless things have changed you can put gift cards with a pre-dertmined value through at self check-outs.
You get two receipts from the machine one for the purchase and one for the activation of the gift card.
Have done this several times at my local WW.

Wish gifts cards etc can not be put through self checkout as they need the value to be entered.

      • the self checkout assistant can do it too

    • +4

You need to scan your EDR card so probably one per registered EDR card, like with previous offers.

        Double Dang!!

Thanks OP. Hopefully Myer $50 gift cards will not sell out very fast, as has been previous case. I had to visit 4 Woolworths to find stock in a previous deal.

Pay with a wish egift card bought through Cash Rewards for another 5% discount.

    • +1

      Make multiple accounts.

  • Can we mix & match gift cards to $50 amount?

  • Thanks for this .Been waiting ages for this to come back again to buy Myer gift cards.

    • +3

What are you guys planning to buy at Myer that isn't already as cheap (gift card discount included) or cheaper elsewhere?

      • -2

        I think they flip them

They get the Myer card, then go to Myer and use that card on buying another gift card available from Myer to another store

        • Interesting. Does anyone know if Westfield gift cards are available at Myer?

        • I do not flip them its almost impossibile to do.I use them throughout the year to buy stuff from Myer such as RM Williams clothing and i get $10 worth of groceries for free at Woolies .

        • @Triple J:

The concern is that you will pay more for RM Williams stuff at Myer than you might elsewhere (RM Williams stores, or RM Williams stockists such as Ray's Outdoors or whatever), thereby effectively negating the savings at Woolies.

If you're sure that this isn't the case then that's fine. But it's the ever-present danger with a store like Myer that tries to cultivate a slightly upper-class image by keeping prices relatively high.

        • [@cainn]RM Williams is usually the same price no matter where you buy it from & Myer always have 50% off at the end of each season which is when I buy it .Rays outdoors sadly no longer sell it .

Anyone tried Woolworths connect yet? Does it have separate premium credit like the old Woolworths mobile plan did?
Still on Woolworths mobile personally, I get $30 premium credit with each recharge, along side all the other BS credit.. It was never advertised this way though.

    • What can you do with the 'premium credit'?

Is it to buy data/sms/call packs, or can you spend it in the Google Play Store like Telstra prepaid credits?

      • Sadly optus resellers are not able to use their credit for the Google play store, though it is that kind of premium credit. You can use it on places which accept mobile payments, usually via services like Boku. It was quite good as the $30 credit quite easily equates to $10-15AUD. With each recharge costing only $26, that's a decent amount.

        • That's still pretty cool though.

        • FAQ from Woolworths Connect:
Which network does Woolworths Connect use?
          Woolworths Limited ABN 88 000 014 675 uses part of Telstra's 3G mobile network.

Woolworths has brorken up with Optus 3G when they removed their partnership from the old Woolworths Mobile.
I don't think they will get back together anytime soon. Being a Telstra 3G reseller now, I am not sure you can use the Credit on Google Play or not.

        • @coprocessor8087:
If there is premium credit, usually either Telstra resellers you can. With Telstra they're usually pretty good at ensuring resellers don't provide premium credit unless required though, despite the fact they do so with their own data plan…

      • I enter competitions with it that normally charge a fee.

        • That's also an option, personally I'd still always try to find a way to sell it off though.

    • I'm finding the recently upgrade prepaid plans with Telstra are pretty competitive now

      Officially launching from tomorrow

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/208322

  • Thanks OP.

  • When does the offer start?

    • +1

Op has put up when it starts - in 3 days.

  • What's in the rest of the catalogue?

  • +1

I'm guessing the Myer cards aren't the ones that work in Coles group stores? I have a local shopping center that has both Coles and Woolies, could mean a standing 20% off groceries :p

    • +1

      Myer Exclusive

      • +3

You also can't use them online which sucks.

        • +1

          Yes,Myer instore exclusive!

      • Can you then use myer giftcard to purchase coles myer giftcard in store? (If they have them)

        • +1

No,someone tried before and POS machine would not put this transaction through.

        • @Neoika:

          By POS, did you mean:

          *Piece Of Sh**

          Or

          *Point Of Sale

          ??

        • +2

          @nismo:

          BOTH!

        • +1

          @nismo: Either is correct.

        • +1

@Neoika: I had tried purchase $300 coles giftcard with myer giftcard in store… and I'm sure the system can go through but it's just against their policy and the staff not allowed to do that (suppose).

I actually did that by going almost every counter on every floor, after the previous nine counters refused to do it and finally the tenth one do it for me

        • @ccwwayne: I know some people want to keep this kind of loophole for their own use so that they misreported it.Thank you for sharing your story!

        • @Neoika: most stores got policy for not letting people buying giftcard with giftcard. But Im sure most of the Ozbargainers had done that before, especially those stores with self-serve machine.

probably 90% of people here used a Everyday Giftcard bought 5% OFF and buy this $50 Myer Giftcard deal

  • +1

Wonder if you can stack the Woolworths Connect vouchers so u can use throughout the year!!
    Would be great!

  • -3

When does this deal start and end?

  • Didn't scroll down far enough to read the start date. I went and bought the myer gift card and later found out it hasn't started yet. Now I'm stuck with a full priced gift card, because the teller wont be able to give me a refund.

    • Haha oh damn.. burn. But yea correct. I hope you at least paid with ING/MEBank 5% cashback promotion or at the very least got a handful of credit card points + Everyday Rewards points for it.

  • Yes scorching hot with a third degree burn….just everyday rewards points

  • does anyone know if the actual spend has to be $50 to activate the offer, or is it the act of buying the $50 gift card? i.e. if i buy a $50 card using my mates 5% discount card so my spend is $47.50, does it still give me the $10? I'm inclined to think no, but sometimes these things don't work the way they're meant to

    • I don't think that will work, because the total amount you pay at the counter would be $47.50 instead of $50. If they have $20 or $30 gift cards, then 3x$20 or 2x$30 might work as it would be $54 in total.

however, i thought staff discount doesn't include gift cards?

    • I think your mate's 5% discount also has an Everyday Rewards number attached to it, so even if it did work, you would need to scan it AGAIN when attempting to use the $10 credit. As to whether it would even work in the first place.. not sure.

  • Guys dont be a dick and buy a macbookpro at myers with 48 $50 myer gift cards.

    • Lets find someone with 48 different EDR cards first!

  • +2

I can confirm it works fine this time, Just bought a $50 myer card this afternoon and receipt said "you are eligible to obtain $10 off your next grocerry shop/ you must redeem by 10.09.2015". I then did a $20 opal top and got $10 off as soon as I scanned my EDR card. Paid by e-gift card for both transactions of course

    • +1

And I can confirm your confirmation that it works for Myer $50 Gift Card.

      • All good. Got $50 Myer gcs at WW Macquarie Centre.

  • Is westfield cards eligible?

  • -2

OP please update. Woolworth's ended this Gift Card deal already. I was told by Woolworth Town Hall staff this is for Father's day special only. It ended yesterday. I wasn"t able to refund the Myer $50 gift card. Well at least i paid by eGift Card for 5% off.

    • +1

I paid for a $50 ticketmaster using a wish gift card, I also did not receive the $10 off next shop, I went to help desk to ask for the terms and conditions to see if it mentions anything but they didn't have any terms and condition for the promotion.
I called up everyday rewards on the number on the back of the card and they are issuing me a $10 egift card.
The rep I talked to said the promo should have worked when purchasing with gift card but it seems it's not working when using gift card to purchase, at least for some people.

      • +1

Thanks. I will call them tomorrow to get $10 back. Cheers.

      • Called Everyday Rewards and they forwarded me to all the different departments.
Finally forwarded back to Everyday Rewards and the operator was so..dam..rude.
His name is Adrian. He keep saying it is not an offer from Everyday Rewards, and ask me to go back to the store.

They have no intention to help or understand the problem.

        • +1

That sucks the rep didn't want to help fix the issue :(

        • +1

@Blackrose: Their IT team made a bug for the Father's day gift card promotion. If you buy TicketMaster gift card, the system will not detect it and you won't have '$10 off next purchase". This bug was confirmed by their useless EverydayRewards team.

        • @coprocessor8087: Thanks for the info :)

  • I bought a $50 Myer gc from WW at midday today & it worked fine!

    Check your receipt. Mine says:

' You are now eligible to obtain $10 off your next grocery shop. You must redeem by 10.09.2015'.
