This is for Velocity points, not QFF

    • +7

even better. I value velocity points more than QFF these days.

      • Why so?

        • +2

A colleague recently bought a $140 flight for 10,000 velocity points, making them almost twice the value of QFF points in my book (I was surprised)

But the article says Virgin Australia, not Qantas.

  • +1

i think u meant Velocity points mate

    edit: beaten to it

    Saw it in SMH

You may need to get your eyes checked.

    • +6

Sure will do so, have you got a deal for eye check? Pay for one and get second free..

      • -7

clicked the Deal link, was slapped with a picture with size 48 font .. do you normally read this close to your eyes rofl

        • +7

I am seeing a normal picture when I open it. Sounds like a problem you!!!
Do you normally blame others for your issue?

      • -1

eye checks are free with any green government credit card, oh i mean medicare card

  • +1

OP has clear infatuation with QFF

      AJ80…. Alan Joyce….

  • Would you value 250k qff points the same as 250k velocity points?

    • I haven't figured out what to do with bulk velocity points yet, with qantas points I can take multisector world flights (and at that amount, business class)

      • +1

Transfer them to Krisflyer points and do the same on Star Alliance!

    Here is the article online:

Can't seem to find it on NAB's site

  • Any idea what is the interest rate?

  • Anyone know how much is a VFF point worth in $ ?? I read somewhere it all depends what you exchange it for. Does 2c/point sound right or too much/little?

    • +2

Definitely depends what you do with them. I recently used 250k plus $150 for return Etihad business to Brazil. Economy flights to South America are rarely less than $1400, often over $2000.

The flights I got would have been $6800+ retail, so on one hand you could say a point was worth 2.6c. On the other hand, I never would have paid that much for flights and just flown economy.

    • I'd always assumed they were worth about same as QFF point, at just under 1c. I based my calcs on my most usual trip: Brisbane to LA.
But a colleague just earned 10,000 velocity points and it paid for a flight between Hawaiian islands that cost his travel companion over $140.

  • How do we even look into this further?
    Call and ask???

  • +4

when do you have to pay it back by…can it be next day?

    • +5

They'll NAB you at the airport.

This was covered in the news. People should always shop around for the best home loan and not get caught up in gimmicks.

What is the point of receiving X amount of points if you could have got a better deal by choosing another bank or loan structure (in the long term).

    • +4

+1 if it isn't the best interest rate, go with the better loan and pay for a holiday every year with the interest saved.

      • -1

        cough negative gearing cough

        • +1

Even if you negative gear, you still want the best interest rate. If you pay an extra $1000 in interest, you only get $1000 * (your marginal tax rate) in tax reduction.

What might be a good deal however is to sign up for a NAB home loan, take the Velocity points and then refinance straight away to a Ubank/ING Direct with a cheaper rate.

Approximately how many $ is 250K points worth to a professional ozbargainer?

  • What interest rate are they offering ?

  • It's a great offering from NAB until the end of the year, where if you refinance your home loan or take a new loan, you could be eligible for 250,000 Velocity Frequent Flyer points, that's enough for two return tickets to Europe or America!!

Direct link to more info and conditions: http://www.nab.com.au/sites/personal/home-loans/nab-velocity…?

If you have any questions about this offer or anything finance related then feel free to ask here, PM me or email [email protected] and I would be happy to help. We are a Perth based mortgage broking company, our service is FREE as we get paid by the bank.

Rates will vary depending on the application however you can work off a variable rate of 4.15% (comparison rate 4.15%).

I did just post this separately to be quickly notified the deal has already been uncovered :) We are not tied up with NAB and we use a panel of over 30 lenders to find our clients a suitable loan. You can go direct to NAB for this or use our mortgage broking service.

    • I'm interested in refinancing from my cba package >600K amount. I have premier banking through Commbank due to my occupation and have investment loans through them too that i wouldn't mind reviewing for refinancing if the setup suits my needs. Will i be eligible for the 250k velocity miles even though i already have a NAB CC? no other NAB accounts though. I also have some other questions about the product. Can you pls pm me? Thanks!

  • Sure thing, i've sent you a PM now.

  • anyone applied for and got the points?

    thanks!
