  • Seems like a great deal. Simply use Guvera once each billing cycle while on mobile data and you get a free GB and this goes on until midway next year.

    Looking at Guvera, it is free but you have to listen to ads. As long as it doesn't ask me to put a credit card number when I register, it is a very good deal.

        You will see or hear approximately three and a half minutes each hour on the Guvera service.

        • seems to be more visual ads. whereas spotify is more audio ads.

    Seems like a good deal. Within 48 hours of using Guvera, you'll receive the bonus 1GB data for that billing cycle. If you are a customer with the new Data Rollover plans, this data also rolls over.

        I tried to listen to 1 song to qualify and 3 or 4 ads popped up!!

      • I just played it for 4-5 sec (on mobile data) and exited from the app, I cannot see the +1gb yet.
        Can you confirm, how much time it takes to get that 1gb back into our account?
        Also, did you have to listen full song for get the 1gb or 4sec of play is enough?

        • Took about 6 hours. The 4 secs were enough.

          Make sure you have connected it by adding your mobile number.

          Got an email and txt I think. Also shows in my account.

      2 weeks of Guvera Platinum (no ads), after that you'll be in for ads ridden music listening service.
      Still pretty good for 1GB/mth extra, given my mobile plan only give me 300MB/mth (+2GB promo)

        Yeh, the virgin $20 sim only plan, but I joined when they had the extra 1gb data, thus 200mb —> 1.2gb —> 2.2gb

          Hey I've got a tip for you, call the customer care and enquire about The new plans. They'll say that since your current plan is no longer offered, they'll offer you a 1 gig loyalty bonus.

          Both my numbers have one gig extra each. One of them is on the plan you mentioned you are on… So currently I have 3.2 gb on the 20 sim only plan :)

        • @hashtagbargain: you say you have 1G loyalty bonus but the $20 plan only comes with 250MB, which doesn't add up. What am I missing?

        • @luis: it used to come with 200 meg as plan inclusion. Then there was a 1 gig free on this plan. This is when I bought it. Then loyalty bonus of one gig. Now this, makes it 3.2 gigs.

          It's the $29 BIG BYO sim only plan from ~4yrs ago that came with 250mb of data + 2gb promo and now the extra 1gb guvera bonus

      • Never got a sms or email confirmation but did mine yesterday and checked this morning and they have increased my data by 1GB

        Just got the sms sent through today, took about 24 hours even thought I had already been given the 1GB

    1. $15 cost
    2. $15 call credit
    3. 180 days expiry
    4. No data

    And I renew it online - not by post. I guess that means I can't utilise this. Has anyone that ISN'T postpaid got this to work?

      The offer is only for postpaid plans, looks like you are on prepaid.

  • My Apple Music trial ends today. this just came at the right time. it looks like you can play any song on the phone instead of just shuffling (albeit ad supported)? edit: it says "LISTEN TO SHUFFLED PLAYLISTS" but I seem to be able to play any song I want on the phone for now?

    I'm on the $30 plan that has 300 MB with 2 GB bonus (no rollover), now plus 1 GB = 3.3 GB pm :D

      it's being counted as "data value-add" on top of the "included data".

    • you start off with a few weeks of platinum which lets you play individual songs etc, you prob aren't on the basic version yet.

      • nope, I used up the platinum trial earlier this year and I'm now on the free account. I hear ads every now and then (which is few and less annoying compared to spotify).

    There’s no minimum number of tracks you’ll need to listen to in order to get the bonus data, however you will need to open the app and listen to a track at least once per billing period to keep your bonus data.

    Guys, just confirming you don't have to confirm your email in order to get the 1gb bonus.

    All I did was download the app, go to connect and put my details in, and 24hours later I had the 1gig extra. I'm still nagged by the app to confirm my email, but it's not related to getting the 1gig.

  • I have also yet to recieve my 1GB.

    I've disconnected from the partner Virgin in the app and have reconnected making sure I wasn't on WiFi to see if that makes the difference.

    I may come off as paranoid, however beware of what this app is doing sitting on your phone (at least the Android Version). I'm sure it's all fine but I'm a bit concerned that the app has grabbed location 32 times in 3 hours before I put Privacy Guard on it.

      • It's built in to the ROM I use, which is based on CyannogenMod

    • it is needed so the can localise adverts plus I guess also find where users are so they can target adverts where the majority of users are.
      it may also be part of the music licence so they know you are in Australia. blocking it may eventually stop the service.

      do you block all the google services too? I find it all useful to me (maybe not ad serving though).

      Um..it's just a free 1GB extra? Obviously it will "kick in" once you use up all your existing data since you have an extra GB to use…

  • I signed up weeks ago - no sms or increase yet.

    When I open Guvera it asks me to verify my email and I press a button to do so, but the email never arrives in my inbox (Spam folder checked too).

    Anyone else having problems?

    • The email is not the problem, you don't even have to verify to get the extra gig.

      Just go on the app, make sure you are not on wifi before you load it (have to be using virgin data for it to work) play a couple of tracks and then wait a few days and you'll get the gig added to your account (you'll get a msg from virgin saying this has happened).

    • Are you using a different email to your Virgin contact email? I used a different one and it didn't seem to work. Then I changed it, and now I've got my bonus data.
      Try changing it and see what happens?

  • I'm using guvera seems OK the 1gb bonus deal has been going for abit now just another push from virgin again to get more signups.
    From the web it says data can take a few days to show up but for me it was only a about 12 hours.
    Make sure you are not on WiFi when you sign up and register as its needs to see the virgin network to do its thing

    • Did you listen to one song this new billing period? Every new billing period you need to listen to one song using your phones data.

  • Yesterday was the start of my billing cycle and played the song for 5 sec via 3g or 4g and now got another 1gn . So it's still working for me

  • Got the 1 gb the first 2 months, didn't get it last cycle but it's back this month, no idea what went wrong last month.

    I tried this month and after a few days i havent receive the 1GB after streaming.
    Not sure if this will help for others. On the app i selected to disconnect from partner and then connect to virginmobile again and now i got the 1GB.
