  • Seems like a very good phone for the price. I would however wait for a g4 to go on sale again and grab that for the better screen and camera

    • +2

I think this will be a much nicer phone in hand than the g4. smaller, lighter, and dare I say the g4 whole being very impressive spec wise, including the screen and camera, just feels a bit cheap.

I guess what I am saying is that people buying this might want something quite different from what a g4 offers

  • Great phone for this price point. Not convinced that the site will be able to get their hands on stock though - a rep on the chat function said they should have stock on 20th Nov. I'd rather take my chances with the open sales in December.

    • Geekbuying actually have stock for this model and have provided an album here

  • hey clear any deals you can do on xiaomi redmi note 2 prime? thanks

    • -1

      Why? The G4 SOC > Snapdragon 801

      • +1

But G4 has to run 1440P screen instead of 1080P screen and the SoC used on G4 isn't exactly a flagship one seeing how it's more of a successor to Snapdragon 800/801 (i.e. Snapdragon 805 and 808 are comparable, CPU wise 808 wins, but GPU wise, 805 is better).

        http://www.xda-developers.com/would-the-lg-g4-fare-well-with…

      • Oh, didn't realise I was breaking rules!

The G4 is a great phone, no doubt about it, but one the OneX is my ideal phone. 5 inches, decent specs, large battery, good camera, cheap, and STOCK ANDROID :D :D.
G4 is all of these, just larger and rolls around on the table.

  • No NFC and other stuff…$250AU yep get it…..$396AU not so much thanks!

    • Huawei P8 $600 Australian stock at JB shrimp no NFC either

      • The Huawei has nfc, at least according to gsmarena.com

        • Only the Vodafone on plan model, outright model with 2 sims have no NFC at all even for $600

        • @paloverde88: even more glad that I decided to buy a z5 today instead of the p8. I have to say though that the p8 has a lot going for it, but I am amazed at how Huawei can spend so much money on marketing and still get some basic stuff wrong eg. 16gb in a flagship, and then if u want to use dual sim it takes up the uSD, and then not offer the 64gb variant in the country with the highest rate of mobile saturation in the 1st world?

        • @Jackson:

The Z5 is almost double the price of the P8 there you see the glaring difference.

Anyways Huawei just released G8 at Vodafone which may have addressed some of your concerns. Really who would pay for the Z5 what Sony is asking?

        • @paloverde88: of course, but to include the feature that is missing in this country costs $5 per unit, and they are selling it overseas! Not a big price to pay to have a successful flagship that would satisfy a lot more people, anyone would think they didn't want to sell phones

To compare the p8 to the one plus X here, it's offering a similar value proposition and this is 150 less than a similar p8 grey import

  • +2

Thanks guys this is replacing my old iPhone 4s :0

  • Phone delivered in how many days?

    • -3

60 days all Chinese no Google play but they open up the box and just install Google play with all Chinese program un removable permanently and pass it off as Google play included.

      • +2

Not entirely correct there. Shipping isn't 60 days and the OnePlus X comes with GApps including Google Play officially.

      • In all honesty who cares if they install gapps after.
Who even wants a stock rom, custom all the way and get days instead of hours of battery life.

    • After processing you're looking at ~30 business days with free shipping or 3-5 days with the heavily discounted TNT shipping.

      • 30 days.. they using a dolphin?

        • +2

For free airmail I wouldn't be complaining especially when TNT is only 75c for me.

        • @Clear: I'm more interested in knowing what's taking so long.

        • @lostn: First of all it's a postal company and not a courier. After its shipped from the warehouse in Shenzhen it's sent to a sorting facility with thousands of others and it usually takes about a week for them to process through them all. Then it has to be taken to the airport, processed through customs and put on a plane. Once it reaches Australia it has to be processed and cleared through customs. After that Auspost gets hold of it and sends it to the closest Auspost facility to your door and gives it to the postman to deliver.

….so on average it takes about 3 weeks for me to receive a package from China going to Tassie and that's why it's free. While a courier like TNT can get it to me within 3 days.

tl;dr processing through many facilities takes time.

        • @Clear: why don't they build the TNT pricing in the cost of the phone. I don't think anyone would complain if phone was $2 more. Infact people would be very happy with the fast courier service as a default.

        • @expertreader: Because the final price is based on your location.

        • @Clear: All of those things should apply to any air mail, not just China post (except maybe the processing), but these guys are the ones that take notoriously long.

        • @lostn: Free shipping will typically be sent via China Post, Singapore Post or PostNL. Shipping times are about the same as other China sites on Ozbargain. I hope you're not confusing us with the banned store, Gearbest that doesn't ship well over 4 months.

        • +2

@lostn: In my experience any air mail from China takes 3-5 weeks.

  • +3

I couldn't recommend strongly enough to stay away from one plus. Their support is the worst and the products have quality issues, ie massive touch screen issues one the Oneplus one and could never fix it

    • I've had my OnePlus One for about a year now. Literally zero problems, and I've heard nothing but decent reviews of the support staff. Care to elaborate on the touch screen issue?

      • +1

Really? They are known for their terrible support.

Spent 4 months making videos showing them my touch screen wasn't working and would make random gestures.

They kept saying wait for the next firmware and sending me betas. Updated about 4 times. Sent the phone back, sent me a new one which has the same issue and they want more proof of this.

Have a second one where I cracked the screen, taken over 3 weeks to get a price for repair from them. Price seems totally made up and depends who replies since I've requested a price from them numerous times.

        • Yeah I think it is better to buy from a good shop that will handle the warranty for you then deal with them directly.

        • Oh, that's bloody horrible. I deal directly with the store in Beijing, perhaps when there is a face to the business it's a lot better O.o.

  • I thought about this phone, but couldn't justify the extra $$ over the Asus Zenfone 2 where I can run dual sim AND Micro SD up to 128Gb, and all Australian 4G bands covered. Those were the important points for me, someone who isn't fussed about shooting 4k video on my phone

    • Where did you get the ZenFone from that had all bands? I've been tossing up whether to get one or not and lot of comments say to make sure you get a certain model.

      • Sorry, I am mistaken. Of the bands we use in Australia:
        Taiwan (TW) version supports bands: 1, 3, 5, 28
        Worldwide (WW) version supports: 1, 3, 5, 7
        US (US) version supports: 1, 3, 5, 7
        China/India (CN/IN) version supports: 1, 3, 40

So really, TW is the version you want.

  • what a shit currency conversion, the days of parity are gone :(

    • +1

Long gone, I think we need to get over it….

      • no, will not get over it.

  • A$350 in China
    It's new and selling fast.

  • Good phone, but how is this a good deal? It is 250USD which is just under 360AUD. This is about $40 more expensive than that.

    • Stuff in China sold locally is cheaper than international and this is the Europe/Indian version. The Chinese version would have even less frequencies.

    • I actually double checked even further. The $250 model is actually the standard version with lower specs and uses different materials.

  • Is Xiomi Mi 4i a better buy than this? eglobal sells it for AUD$269.

  • Better than One M8?

    • I've had an m8 until recently. Best phone ever.

      • +1

The m8 with a great camera would be the perfect phone. The m8 also has support for band 28, even the Asian model.

  • Hey guys we have an unboxing and hands on video of the new Oneplus X right here if you want to check it out.

  • -1

    one plus X

Is this read as one plus 10?
    Quite a jump from 2 to 10

  • OnePlus X or ZUK Z1?

    • Both have same chipsets
    • Z1 has much bigger battery
    • Z1 has 5.5" screen to 5" X
    • Z1 has more storage 64GB but no SD slot
    • Z1 has fingerprint reader
    • Both have 5.1 Oxygen OS vs Cyanogen OS
  • Do you work for them? I want to change my order from white to black.

    • Not directly. The black version isn't in stock until the 20th though, I can still go and ask them if you want?

      • I sent them an email and am yet to hear, Would be awesome if you could ask as well. Also do you know what version these are? https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/oneplus-x-regional-versio…

I believe the Asia/EU (E1003) will be better for Australia due to having an extra band that is used here but these are probably NA right?.

        Order # is #3486967

        • I'll send them a message.

The one in this deal is the Asia/EU (E1003) and best suited for Australia.

        • @Clear:

Awesome news :) thanks very much!!

        • @Clear:

You mean the white colour one is Asia/Eu version?

I heard white is only avilable in China. ( Model no: E1001)

        • @lazydesi: Yes the white is Asia/EU.

There are regional and international versions of each phone. So E1001 is China and running HydrogenOS, while the international version is E1003 and running OxygenOS.

        • @Clear:

Phone came and it's E1001 it also came with a tonne of bloatware and apps that hijack data, BOOTLOADER was unlocked assuming due to flashing their version of oxygenos full of crap.

        • @SubNoize: Not what I expected. OxygenOS would have been flashed ontop of the HydrogenOS that is made for China. Has the bloatware been easy to remove?

        • @Clear: It didn't look like it was flashed on top, it looked like a modified rom. It didn't have any system update options either.

I just wiped it in recovery and installed a clean flash of Oxygen OS 2.1.2 but I'm afraid some people who aren't as technical might not know how to do it.

        • @SubNoize: That is a worry. Hopefully I'll get a PM from people so I can help out.

I'll pass it on to Geekbuying. They were very lucky to get hold of the first batch, but I guess the supplier was a bit dodgy.

        • @Clear:

I added a simple guide to the bottom of this thread if you want to direct people to it. It also contains a copy of OxygenOS straight from oneplus which was a bit of a pain to find. Feel free to share those instructions if anyone reaches out to you.

          Thanks for everything mate!!

        • @Clear:

edit: it comes with and what model it is.

        • @SubNoize: Thank you. I've just linked your post to GB's staff.

        • @Clear: Doesn't this mean that it will be missing a lot of the Aust LTE bands?

  • Hi Rep,

Is Australian adapter included. For warranty claims do we have to send the phone overseas or is local warranty support available ?

    • The power adapter included is US style, but an AU adapter is included. A travel adapter will probably provide a better fit and any other power adapter with USB will work too.

As Geekbuying is based in China, there is no local warranty available and the phone would have to be sent back.

  • I think the ceramic version looks much more premium, is it the same price is it available?

  • So has anyone bought with Geekbuying before? I've read some really horrible reviews and generally a bit weary of grey-importing…

    • I've bought a few deals from Clear's posts and received everything fine. Can take a couple of weeks or more for standard shipping.

  • Hey Clear… I ordered the day you posted… any idea when it will ship?

    • Processing can usually take up to a week. If you give me your order number I can find out.

      • it's #3486473 cheers
I opted for free shipping, though wondering if I should have paid extra for courier.

        • I'll follow it up for you. The shipping method doesn't impact the processing time.

        • @Clear: Thanks

        • +1

          @Clear:Just got shipping notification, cheers!

  • OP Any new voucher code?? :) This one says it's expired now, I've already ordered a white with the promo code, but I want to also now buy a black, but the promo code has expired now :(

    • Black one isn't instock until 10/12 at this stage, so it might be a bit too early for a coupon?

      • Okay what about white? then :)

  • YAY! Mine got shipped today, now the wait begins :)

  • My tracking information just says "The item is pre-advised". Does that mean it has actually shipped yet? Or they've just lodged the shipping information into the system?

  • +1

I suggest to everyone who receives theirs to do a fresh wipe and install oxygenOS themselves. It seems my phone came packaged with a bunch of bloatware and hijacking/redirecting widgets. Possibly the fault of whomever Geekbuying sourced them from.

I was also unable to update OxygenOS/Android until I did this.

Even though the links say OTA they're not Over The Air updates, it's the full clean firmware.

Instructions to install Oxygen OS on your OnePlus X

    1) Download the OnePlusOxygen_14 update from the Baidu link here. (https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24269982086992164) Use this link instead or MEGA link below.
    2) Connect your OnePlus X to your PC.
    3) Do not unzip the ROM, and move it over to the OnePlus X’s internal storage.
    4) Turn off the OnePlus X
    5) Press Volume Down and the Power button together to get the OnePlus X in to recovery mode.
    6) Choose “English” > “Wipe data and cache” > “Install from local” > navigate to the Oxygen OS ROM.
    7) Choose “OK” and wait for the update process to end.
    8) Once installed your OnePlus X should reboot and now be running a fresh installation of Oxygen OS.
    9) Enjoy!

    • The Geekbuying page says it supplies Oxygen OS 2.1.2, so it doesn't sound like you got what you paid for. I guess we'll find out once more people receive their phones.

      • It came with oxygenos but it had been modified. There was a bunch of bloatware apps installed as system apps (no uninstalling) and an old google looking widget that redirects your searches through another website. You couldn't remove it from the launcher home page.

        • Were there any OTA updates available?

        • +1

@marquise: Not when I received it but if I remember correctly the update section was missing in about phone. As soon as I flashed the above stock oxygen OS I received an OTA

    • I'm having trouble copying the ROM to the internal storage. On my PC I can see a "CD Drive: OnePlus Drivers" where the OnePlus X USB drivers are stored. I can't seem to write to this or delete files from this 'partition'.
      Any ideas?

EDIT: figured it out, the internal storage was hidden amongst my other icons!$( so I didn't notice it. I also turned on USB debugging, not sure if that made a difference

    • can I flash Xiaomi Mi4I with this OS

  • I received my OnePlus X today, free shipping took 21 total days, which is quite acceptable.

The model I received was E1001, just as SubNoize commented. It is running OxygenOS 2.1.2 and Google Play Store is there along with other apps.
I wonder if I need to reflash this as there doesn't appear to be that many preinstalled bloatware apps? I can see:
    DCShare
    Browser
    Clean Master
    DU Battery Saver
    Files
    KKBrowser
    Messenger (SMS?)
    OnePlus Radio
    Swiftkey
    UC Mail

I suppose it's annoying that I can't uninstall them, but even my current Sony Z3 Compact has a bunch of apps I can't uninstall. As long as these preinstalled apps aren't malicious in any way.

I guess I'll need to reflash if I want those OTA updates, just hope I don't brick it!

    • +1

The thing is those apps don't come with OxygenOS so someone has installed them or added them to the installation of Oxygen OS. If they've done that there's also a chance they've touched other files. I think for your own safety you're better off flashing the clean Oxygen OS. Plus you can't brick it as you won't be touching the recovery partition. You'll continue to have access to the stock recovery so the worst you can do is wipe the OS and leave no OS on the phone but you'll still have access to recovery and can easily reflash as I documented above.

edit: Looks like you already did it. Ignore this post :)

      • Thanks heaps for all your help mate! I've successfully flashed the phone and now setting up.
Did you install the OTA update and has it caused any problems with microSD card access? (as has been reported)

        • It's my brothers phone but I'm sure he would have complained to me if there was an issue.

        • @SubNoize: ok thanks, I'll give it a go

  • +1

Bit sad to see that the Geekbuying price for this phone has dropped even lower than with the coupon that was offered. It is now US$269.85 for the 3Gb version in White.

    • +1

Yeah I emailed them about it, its like $11 difference asked if they refund the difference :) haven't heard back yet.
