        • LOL, I was just guessing, but another educated guess: I wouldn't want to be the guy working Sunday night/Monday morning removing stock. Or, removing stock on Friday and missing out on weekend sales from those people that Just Had To Have It.

    • I wouldn't be surprised if much of it is stock related. Target had the Lego X-Wing for real cheap once this sale started, when I last saw it before it was removed (this deal was about 45 mins old) it had '52 sold in the last hour'. So they were selling like hot cakes … EBAY has a massive audience after all, OzBargainers make up a tiny portion.

  • +1

    Any Chromecasts on sale?

  • Excellent. Just grabbed a Babylove Ezy Combo $131.96 incl. delivery from oo.

  • +1

Got me some Zelda triforce heroes, was thinking about this the other day. Perfect!

    • hmmm I think I might get it too, got a link friend?

  • +3

OMG not again, at this rate I will be either really poor or in debt. I need therapy… Does Ozbargain host Shopaholics anonymous?

    • +2

Ozbargain hosting Shopaholics anonymous would be like BWS hosting alcoholics anonymous

  • Usual story it seems, prices are more expensive and then they get discounted.

Looking at stove package at Masters and here it is advertised right now for $599
    https://www.masters.com.au/product/101749951/esatto-60cm-cer…

on the ebay site it is $699
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Esatto-60cm-Ceramic-Cooktop-Fan-F…

    • Is it still $599 for you as its $699 for me.
Masters and Supercheap Auto are 2 stores that I've never seen cheat the eBay deals.

  • -1

Seems it only works on selected items. Wont work on a Fitbit HR on either Officeworks or good guys

    • selected stores.

      • ah yes.. they came up in the search from the CGIFt20 link on ebay but I see now they arent participating.

  • +1

    I think this is a good price - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-SHEFFIELD-Vertical-Rotisserie…
    I got it for $65 odd, now its $52.74 - 20% off = $42.19 delivered
Good for an experiment to see if it performs as expected to make gyros/kebabs :)
    (Haven't tried mine yet)

    • Cool deal. See another good ones like this?

      • As far as kitchen appliances we don't really need go…

        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Sheffield-3-in-1-Meat-Grinder…

Don't think it's cheaper than normal, but got one in previous 20% sale and has been quite useful.

Juicer works quite well (though could go slower), grater is better than the $5 one I got from Big W as it doesn't flick cheese all over the kitchen, and the grinder, haven't used for meat yet, just to make bread crumbs so far. Not the quietest machine but happy enough with it for the price after discount and cashback.

If you've got enough for Coke Rewards points though, probably cheaper to get some of these things from OO site with a gift voucher.

  • Btw… does any clever person have a link to search all stores? I know with these sorts of deal someone comes up with a pre-defined link to make it easier for all to search rather than going store by store. I think it would help everyone out :)

    • Is it really that hard to just click on the link? There is a search box with a button called 'Search the sale' on the page.

      • Not sure that its working right… i.e. looking for a Dyson AM05 hot/cool fan.

Searching for Dyson brings up these results:
        http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_sadis=…

It doesn't show the AM05 listing from Target which is this:
        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Dyson-AM05-Hot-Cool-Fan-Heate…

        thus why i asked

        • agree. i type something on the box hit search the sale blue button but the first result is "ship from united kingdom" ie not entitled to the 20% discount

        • Check the first page of comments. Somebody there tried searching using a typo to bring up correct results using the automatic suggestion feature.

        • @eisniwre: Why is shipping from UK not entitled to use the sale? Plenty of Simplybestprices things ship from US and UK and the coupon works fine.

        • @clse945111: the one i tried, not eligible.

At Supercheap Auto these two recent 20% discounted power tools have not been increased yet on Ebay. CGIFT20 gives a further 20%:

    Rockwell ShopSeries Mitre Saw - 210mm, 1200 Watt - $44.79
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Rockwell-ShopSeries-Mitre-Saw-210…

    Rockwell ShopSeries Bench Grinder - 150mm, 250 Watt - Super Cheap Auto - $31.99
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Rockwell-ShopSeries-Bench-Grinder…

Click & collect available. I think they are both good buying at these prices.

  • Any of these stores stock computer parts?

  • so I cant put in two codes, CGIFT20 and my 100 voucher code?

    • +1

nope. one code or the other

    • Nope. Only 1 code.

  • any computer retailers?!

  • I'll vote for this deal but not buying anything this time - no camera / computer stores.

  • ive read the opinions on grays online refurbs - whats the opinion on new laptops ?

  • I want to buy a knife block set from kitchen direct. But when I press buy it now, there is no area to enter the code. Anyone have an idea?

    • You have to proceed to check out to add the code.

      • Well it makes me want to commit first.

        • No commitment required - do add to cart, checkout, don't enter any payment details.

  • Would be nice if it worked with the $100 Woolworths Voucher from previous eBay deal.

  • +17

I am really beginning to loathe these now frequent eBay artificial sales from selected retailers. Items get removed left, right and centre, prices are jacked up to ridiculously inflated prices compared to normal and furthermore there are large price discrepancies compared to the retail stores website or bricks and mortar stores. It seems most comments are related to wish items, removal of items and people ranting (like me), rather than any actual deals being posted.

    • +4

People are too entitled. At every single eBay sale such as this, I've found bargains. Not every item of course, but that's not the point. These eBay sales over the last year or so have generated some of the best bargains I've seen, even though it has not always been on items I've been in the market for at that time.

The only bad thing about them it that it feels so wasteful making a semi big purchase when an eBay sale is NOT on. It will be very sad when they stop.

      • +1

You sir havn't seen Dick Smith's eBay sale…… ahaha

        • +2

The last Dick sale I bothered with was when it lined up with the ebay one and note 4's were flying off the shelf for about $500… I think they've learnt their lesson then.

        • +1

          @krisspy:

The last dicksmith sale from what I remember was the 30% off one. They took of all the good items and bumped up the price. Customers noticed it, I think I remember seeing that the Ps4 was out of stock before the sale went up lol

      • +2

Hey fruxo, I'm not sure if you are referring to me or making a generalisation. I certainly don't feel entitled to anything and I have made some excellent savings with the couple of purchases I have made through these eBay "sales." I feel though that it is a fair assumption to say that a lot of OZB are tired of the price manipulation and tactics used by the companies.

        • I'm making a sweeping statement about people ranting about this and that everytime these sales are on. As with any sale, prices change. Some retailers are more manipulative than other. It's no different from any other same. With that in mind, these eBay sales are still the best thing since sliced bread. With such a massive amount of items being on sale, and including items which are otherwise often excluded by this being truly store wide, it's by far the best sales ever.

Edit: although not common, some retailers even add items sold out during sale, such as target and Xbox. That 1 item alone from the 1 retailer, makes this bargain worthy. And it's far from the only bargain amongst all the items of these retailers

        • @fruxo: I acknowledge what you are saying, perhaps you should read the last sentence of my original post. I too am making a sweeping statement. However, perhaps you should read the comments from the last ebay sales and make a tally of the number of complaints people directed at the ACCC. There would've been more negs if people hadn't jumped the gun and up voted. How does it feel when an item is suddenly sold out and reappears moments later at a high price? (Yes it goes both ways too) Would you tolerate this in a store? I think not.

Parents oven blew up tonight.. just ordered a replacement, click n collect from local Masters. Westinghouse brand, silver, 2yr warranty.
$560 down from $699 (its around the $700 mark at JB, Harveys, Appliances-Online etc) plus an extra $30 back via CashRewards and credit card points cashback ($24 + $6).

    • +12

Next time you can just tell them you want a new one instead of rigging it with explosives.

      • I've told my parents I want a new oven but they don't care… Explosives are the only option…

        • +1

maybe you didnt mention the 20% ebay discount.

Reposting here in case no-one sees it:

Mamma Mia, here we go again.
My my, how can I resist 20% off?
Mamma mia, did they jack up the prices again?
My my, just how much I've missed it (by a few minutes)
    Yes, I've been brokenhearted
Blue since the item got out of stock
Why, why did I ever let you go?
Mamma mia, now I really know,
My my, that bargain didn't exist in the first place.

I also wrote an "Aqua / Barbie Doll" song parody some time ago if you're interested.

Also, these 20% deals are becoming frighteningly common. Guessing they want to impress eBay shareholders with bigger numbers before the end of the year?

    • I think they're trying to dominate the market (vs Aliexpress, Amazon) and retrain consumer habits, in the lead up to Christmas.
(Still hoping for a 50% off bbq or something sale)

      • +1

Well, I do know they're trying to get rid off the pesky small-time sellers and to just become another big brand department store style website.

Personally I think it's a plan doomed to fail since Amazon perfectly services that role and eBay is better to differentiate themselves (the "thrill" of bidding, "one man's junk is another man's treasure" like the good old days) but hey what do I know. I'm not some overpaid CEO.

        • Yep the cost for small sellers is getting too high, whereas the bigger stores can absorb it.
It doesn't help when you get ppl returning stuff for non legitimate reasons.

I guess that's where Gumtree comes into play which Ebay owns.
Definitely remember the days of counting down to the last few seconds then placing a winning bid. Do sniper programs/apps still exist these days?

        • @mmd:

Gumetree is more of a supplement than a replacement of eBay and has its own share of problems (deadbeat bidders, scammers, not for international sales).

Sniper apps still exist but probably not used as much anymore since I wouldn't be surprised if eBay, an auction site, has more Buy It Nows than auctions.

    • song parodies eh? well…..

Oh yes he is the great DeafMutePretender
      (ooh ooh ooh)
      Pretending he is bargaining well.
      (ooh ooh ooh)
His need is such, he pretends 20% is not much…
But he spent all his money we can tell …..

      lol I give up….too hard :P

      • You only forfeit success if you give up.

        So keep tryin', champ.

        • I'll try sensei!!!

  • Do items usually get added to these ebay deals over the next few days or is this pretty much it? (Mainly regarding the big retailers like Target, BigW & Toys'R'US)

  • Bought a few stuffs from SCA, Kitchens, and Masters. They are long overdue purchase anyway. Nice one ebay.

  • +1

no magic the gathering cards, which seems to be a shame.

    Masters Home Improvement

Interesting how delivery just went up from $9.95 to $19.95 when the sale started for the item I was going to get at Masters…

    Item is $49, so 20% off is $39.20… So it's a 20cents price increase and not a 20% saving…

    NO DEAL…

Decided to pay 95 cents extra and just get it from the Good Guys… Stuff Masters… Hope they go bankrupt soon…

    • +2

Ebay is paying the 20% discount.so do not understand why they have to jack the prices as they will get the full amount anyway

      • +3

        1 word - Greed

        • +1

I don't think its a greed thing. Im sure there is some sort of profit/margin sharing going on

      • +2

How do you know eBay pays for the fees? Its very unlikely that eBay out of all companies are paying for it out of their own pockets and giving free advertising.

        • +2

Agreed, there is some sort of 'arrangement' between eBay and the companies for these promotions. It makes no sense that eBay would be picking up the tab for the complete 20%…

  • +3

This sale is worse than last 20% off.

  • Really want a Dyson Handstick.

Should I wait for a better deal or nab the V6 for $560?

Or is the DC45 just as good for $343?

  • cant pick store from Masters Online … anyone know how to fix that

    • I picked store, but in cart it was delivered again. I could change it in cart and pick store again. Delivery fee did not go away. I clicked through checkout and the delivery fee was removed before committing.

  • Perfect timing, got my Worm Farm. Saved $17.

  • Any deals for mobile phones? Specifically Samsung Galaxy S6.

just picked up an engel fridge with the 20% off which is great as these are never on sale. interestingly the receipt shows the full price so the less scrupulous could possible return said discounted item for a full refund and make money! (not that im suggesting to do that…)

    • Bro… we don't take kindly to engels around here.

      • engels are cool…

        • Just picked up the Engel Eclipse for $702 on Click and Collect :) Sooooooo cheap! The waecos regularly have sales at anaconda or BCF, but Engels are usually excluded. Couldn't justify the price premium for the 40L steel one though, as our sits in the back of an SUV. Dad will be happy to have his CFX40 back after our Evakool got stolen.

  • Another case of price gouging - BCF this time around.
The Weber Q Half Hot plate was $69.99 yesterday, now its $79.99

  • shame no sellers listed sell phone…after Xperia Z5

  • Someone was looking at a Samsung fridge advertised at JB hi fi - I cant find the post any more but its relivent to this thread.

    Masters Ebay
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Samsung-680L-French-Door-Fridge-S…

    20% off $2,398.40
    3.5 cashback $104.93

Not delivered so :/ but thats only $2293.47 for it.

  • Are there any campers out there? I would love to take the kids camping but it's just me and two little ones so any suggestions on cheap tents that are easy to put up would be great? I did some research but also thought I'd see if anyone has experience in this field considering there are 3 camping stores available under this deal! We also need mattresses/sleeping bags…everything :o

    • +1

Just bought this click and collect, set it up in the backyard tonight, very impressed with the 2 minute set up and the quality of the materials. Comes to $263.20. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Coleman-Instant-Up-Touring-Tent-6…

      • Thanks that was the one I was looking at too :) do you think the 4 person tent would be big enough for 3 people or would it be worth just getting the 6?

        • +1

Try and borrow gear the first time you go. Even better if you can go with some friends who know what they're doing, it'll be a better experience and there's a whole heap of gear you won't need.

4 person tent should fit an adult and 2 kids fine but it's always good to have some extra space. You don't want anything touching the fabric of the tent or it will get wet from condensation overnight so allow room for bags etc when you're deciding on size.

A pop up tent like the Coleman above can be big when packed (L24 x W24 x H136cm weighing 14.45kg). Check to see it'll fit in your car.

Stay away from 4wd mats, they're like sleeping on a balloon and take up a ridiculous amount of space when deflated. Stretchers are okay to sleep on but no good for the floor of your tent. Try some out before you buy.

If you're going in summer then you could probably get away with blankets rather than spending money on sleeping bags.

          Don't forget about
          chairs
lighting (a headtorch each is fine)
cooking - a grill and old pots & pans over the fire. Gas cooker is easier (but not as much fun) and essential if there's a fire ban.

Don't be put off…the kids will love it.

        • The 4 would be "just" big enough, 6 is "comfortably" big enough. My 6 is for 2 adults and one child.

        • @OzBragain:

Thank you so much for all the info! Very helpful :)
