      • But the $200 is an online deal only. How is that "do-able in store"?

        • I've processed a handful so far. It's doable.

  • +1

Whats the m8 and m9 pricing? Telstra's website is doing it's best not to tell me!

  • So if I were getting a 4GB plan for the tablet, this is no better than the MRO, right? Plus then I get 24 months interest free as well…

  • Are you able to order (due to no stock) the iPhone 6S and take advantage of the deal?

    • No, but you can probably find some 6s here and there if you try hard enough! Then you just need to find someone who knows how to process both offers!

  • If I signed up to the Large plan last week can I still take up this offer ?

    • damn, i did too ! if only i waited a week…

    • No, sorry.

  • I think this deal is confusing. What exactly does "your additional outright device purchase" mean? I would have thought it would mean on any outright purchase you do at the same time as the plan which should include a Nexus 9. Are Telstra saying it has to be a device that can be used on the new plan (i.e. cellular tablets only?)

    • Postpaid devices only. I'm not sure whether the list I got internally differs from what is actually available but I assume I had the full list (only cellular tablets)

      • Doesn't purchasing a Nexus 9 not on a plan (which I assume is impossible anyway) mean it is postpaid?

        • Postpaid devices. The ones meant for a plan.

Sorry if it's a bit confusing.

        • @NejiXSan: It's confusing because it's not spelled out in the link. I would suggest it's almost baiting.

  • Hey NejiXSan,

I found the link to this deal through this:

    http://ausdroid.net/2015/11/10/get-a-good-deal-from-telstra-…

The first comment seems to be from a telstra employee that says they can't do it in store.

    • No where does it say you can't do this deal in store in those comments, it does say they've made the $200 credit deal online only as of yesterday

    • Hi,

I believe the confusion is with a different offer which did finish on Monday. The BYO offer is different and should still be active.

      • How much are the HTC one m8 and m9?

        • +1

          Hi,

          Sorry about the delay.

          M8: 360 (probably can't find this anymore)
          M9: 696

  • +1

Website now says "any outright device". A telstra rep on the 24x7 chat says the nexus 9 is included too.

    • Anyone was able to get nexus 9 successfully?

      • I was in a Telstra store today and it said any phone or tablet (excluding pre paid). Only problem was they didn't have any Nexus 9 in store.

  • Hi NejiXsan - I want to PM you regarding store location but I'm currently overseas so I can't initiate a conversation over OzB. Could you PM me so I can reply? Cheers.

    • Hi,

You're set to private so I'm unable to initiate a conversation with you either.

      • Fixed :)

  • Hi just spoke to Telstra store that has iPhone 6s in stock but they told me they were not allowed to sell it outright only available on a plan. Does your store have stock.

    • Any specific one you were after? I'd have to get my managers approval for the iPhone.

      • Hi I am after the iphone6s 64gb or the 6 64gb. Can you give me the price for iPhone 6?
Also where is your store located?

        • Castle Hill.

Doubt i'd be able to. Getting both online will probably be the easiest/best bet to get the iPhones … Will update/PM if I manage to get approval.

        • @NejiXSan: what about the 6 plus? I can drive to Castle Hill on Saturday

  • @NejiXSan

I signed up to the BYO offer on Sunday but haven't yet received/activated my SIM. Would I be able to cancel that order and walk into a Telstra store to get this one with the $200 cash and $240 towards a device?

    • i did that.. just called, spend about an hour on the phone with Telstra, and finally he said i can get the phone with $240 credit even i signed up the BYO Plan on 7/11…i asked him to add the notes on my account that i will buy an outright device by 25th December to get the $240 credit… will go to Telstra store tomorrow and choose a phone… I wanted a dual sim, LG G4 or Huawei better ??

      • Nice!! That's awesome! :)

      • Thanks annielee! I'll give it a whirl tomorrow. Hopefully I land upon a friendly agent :-)

        • patient is the key here when chatting with them, initially he said he wasnt aware of the promotion, so he went and searched and found it and he took some time to understand the promo and whether i can add that to my existing order.. finally he said yes, as the BYO is a new plan and are eligible for the offer, just remember to ask them to make a note on your account once they said you can get $240 credit on an outright device.

        • @annielee: Thanks again Annielee for your advice :-) I'll be as patient and polite as possible as it takes for a deal like this :-) I'll make sure they add a note.

        • @annielee: I managed it in the end. I had to go in to show my ID and then the store wouldn't combine the order as they said they couldn't due to the product codes. So I then got on Live Chat and they sorted it out with 7GB, $200 credit, $240 towards a handset. Unbelievable deal :-)

        • so you get a newphone thru the online store or you need to go to the store again with the notes attached to your account ?
          @thriftylashes:

        • @annielee:
          Online store through chat.

        • @thriftylashes: mind to share which phone and price you get ??

        • @annielee:
I got a Lumia 640 for $0. They had a whole list in the store of phones' prices post-discount.

  • went into 2 stores in WA and they both refused to combine both deals. they offered me one or the other… so it seems that some stores choose not to do it?

    • most likely they don't know how to do it or can't be bothered to do it.

    • +1

UPDATE: telstra live chat is now able to process the promotions in conjunction with each other. rep said they had a update today, i have jumped onto the telstra bandwagon with a nexus 5x in the mail

      • BAM. We did it everybody! On the same page! Here's the solution for people who couldn't do it instore! :)

        • Unless you're a current Telstra customer - then you're screwed. :(

        • @churchado:

port out to a $2 simcard and come back in the same day.

        • @churchado: Why is that, I thought the offer is for ' existing customers upgrading and new customers'?

        • +1

@bozbargain: The $240 off a device applies to existing, the good deal for the mobile plan and welcome credit is only for new Telstra customers (and in my case they told me that means 6 months off Telstra - no porting out and in again)

        • @Sharp: I have been told that is not allowed.

      • +1

None of the agents online we've chatted to have been able to do the triple whammy of the two deals and Port a number from a parent's name on optus to an mature child. The last step is obviously a bit hard for them. And when we find a person who can do it, then they don't know how to work both deals together. I'll visit a shop tomorrow….

  • So if I have two services out of contract with Telstra, do I have to port out and back in again to take up both offers, or can I possibly just transfer to prepaid and do a pre to post?

    • Hi,

Will not be able to advise on the first but the second would definitely not qualify for the $200 credit.

  • Does this deal apply if recontracting using new phone feeling?
Also price on HTC one m8 please?

    • Hi,

I'm afraid New phone feeling is the main exception to this $240 special.

  • OP is the price of the G4 Aus wide ?

They told me it would come down to $650 after the $240 credit.

    • That's confusing, it should be $504.
Should be aus-wide. (Just checked with Manager)

      • All good got it for that price !

Kind thinking I should have gone of the z5

        • just wondering did you get a receipt/invoice for the phone ?? thinking to claim TRS..

        • @annielee:

Yes for sure they gave me a receipt !

        • @sshazam: thanks.. im also considering the G4..

        • @annielee:

I'm pretty happy with the phone for the price but I wish I looked at the z5. But nowhere had one on display for me to try.

  • Went to Telstra store sydney on pitt street and joined the 12 months $50 plan with 200 bux credit then bought the Huawei p8 lite with free huawei band for 96 bux after 240 bux credit. Awesome deal!

    • Also dropped into the Sydney city store on Pitt St and as a Telstra prepaid customer, they said I was not able to receive the $200 welcome credit.
The rep advised the only way around this was to port out to another carrier and back in. :(

      • +1

Ummm. What did you expect. The $200 Credit is for new customers

      • Why dont you port out to virgin or Vodafone then port back? It should be relatively quick to do so.

        • +1

Good luck with that - I ported to Vodafone a week before this offer even became available, and now the online sales reps are telling me I'm ineligible for the $200 bonus because it's been less than 6 months since I ported.

        • In the end, ported out to Optus (online) and back into Telstra (via the Sydney Pitt St store) all within a 24 hour period.
Slight discomfort of changing sims 3 times within that period for what seems like a much more economical plan.
Like everyone else, still awaiting for bonus data to be applied and was advised by the rep the $200 welcome credit will not appear until the 3rd or 4th billing cycle.

  • Is the $240 credit valid for all phones or only certain ones ?

    • Technically valid for all postpaid devices.

      • Do you know how much a 128gb S6 would be ?

        • $1008 after discount.

  • What does the Note 5 work out as, NejiXSan?

  • Hi, I am very interested in getting the HTC 626 for myself. I can't find the outright price on the website, but I read from NejiXSan's earlier post that it will cost an extra $72 or so dollars? Can you please reconfirm that. Also, I live in Adelaide, will I be able to get stock from the CBD stores? Thank you very much.

    • Yes to all

  • When using the $240 to buy the handset outright will that handset remains locked to Telstra or it will be sold as unlocked?

How long is the promotion for the BYO plan with $200 credit going for? My contract will has another 5 weeks to go

Also how is the stock level for the p8 lite, planning to give that phone to my niece to use with Aldi sim if it is unlocked from this deal

  • Ok, after reading the website carefully and confirmed in store (yesterday) , the handset is unlocked but then they cannot do the byo plan as its online only so they cannot combine both deals. This is the Southland store :(

  • I wish I could get a telstra online person to make this happen for me. Spoken to half a dozen people online and on the phone. Our trouble… Phone number is registered in father's name, not the name of the new account. I wish it was easier. One of the online people managed to do the porting, but couldn't do the two deals to get both bargains. The plan/deal/account was then cancelled a 3rd time.

    • You can't port and use different names.

Either do a change of ownership with optus THEN port
      or
Port in your fathers name to Telstra THEN do a change of ownership

      Simples…

  • Has anyone been successful to get both $240 off outright phone and $200 credit instore in Melbourne?

  • Could not bundle the deal instore at Chirnside park. But I only spoke to a employee, not a manager.

  • Is this deal still stackable with the $200 welcome credit? Seems like nobody is having any luck.

    • I just did it on the phone. Easiest way. Time consuming, but I did it.

  • I've had one Telstra person on live chat (before my service was activated, some reason took 48 hours to port number) tell me I can use the $240 towards the Nexus 9.

Went online to buy it just now and now another live chat person has said I can't use it towards the Nexus 9 because it doesn't have cellular? What type of logic is that? Smh

    • I have not had to deal with Telstra in the past 8 years and I have had enough with their outsourcing customer service/sales team whatever they call it.

Sales on the live chat always tells you it's possible because they want you to place an order. They are not afraid that you may cancel the order later.

Different CS people have different logic and judgement on what you are qualified for and you got to kicked around and wasting your time for hours on the phone with people don't really know the exact policy.

I hope I never had to deal with Telstra again. Our company is a business account to Telstra and has a dedicated team, real people taking care of our company accounts, but personal accounts will never got served by Local team. Even the complaint got routed to Manlia Philippines and their supervisor lied to me.

Worst experience ever. I am done with their massive abroad customer service team.

I may log a t TIO complaint later on.

  • For those who have processed a mobile purchase via online - do you get a tax invoice? And does the invoice amount include the $240 device discount/credit? Or does it show the full retail price?

I would like to claim a tax refund via TRS, but not sure if I will get a proper tax invoice if I do it via Live Chat.

    • +1

Keen to find this out also.

    • +1

      i'm just another consumer, but:

      1. this is a contract based purchase which you'll require to keep for 12 months anyway, and if i'm the TRS guy i wouldn't let you claim this
      2. if they happen to follow what optus is doing anyway you won't be able to because its just one lump sum of the plan and phone together on the tax invoice

of course i would like to be proven wrong but….

      • this is a contract based purchase

I don't believe this is the case. The purchase of the device is separate to the contract, and Telstra calls it an "outright" purchase as well. So I don't see how it's tied to the contract. Once I've bought it, I can do anything I like with the device.

if they happen to follow what optus is doing

I'm not familiar with what Optus is doing. Can you elaborate please?

        • well first of all they won't let you buy the phone on its own. it'll be with a contract as a "bundle". this means that on ONE ORDER there are TWO ITEMS. the phone and the contract.

following that as i said in point 2. optus lumps both items into ONE ENTRY. ergo: if buying nexus 5x and say $50 BYO -> $530 is the only entry on the tax invoice.

so IF they do follow optus (and i don't see why not anyway because you'd have to buy two things from them to be eligible as my first point in this post) then there's no way you can claim TRS.

p.s. i'm just using caps to make sure you can see my point

        • @shuckeru: I bought it just now and it has got 2 separate entries, one for phone another for the BYO SIM which is 0.
Hope this does not raise any eyebrows while claiming TRS, I will be on flight coming Friday so will update how I go. If anyone has experience before that- please update.

  • @NejiXSan

So i signed up for the $50 Byo mobile deal about a month ago with the $200 welcome credit.

Just jumped on the chat and asked to take up the 240 credit on a new phone (galaxy s5)as per this separate offer.

Initially they said no- you must apply the $240 credit on the day you connect.

I politely asked them where it says that- the conditions just say a new customer on a byo go mobile plan….
I haven't even got my first bill yet- Am I not a new c

Lots of waiting, and they agreed to apply the 240 as a credit on my next bill.
    Great.

Except then they tell me the price for the s5 is 840!!!!

Not the 600 (before 240 discount) the OP states in this deal.

Wtf? Where is the OP getting his prices from?

He has said the S5 is 360 after discount??

  • +1

I asked 2 Telstra chat reps today for the price of the LG G4 - they said $864, or $624 after the -$240. Looks like price has gone up!

    • Yep this deal looks dead- s5 price has magically gone up by $240 while this promo is on.

      :/

Surely thats false advertising by telstra?
Jacking prices up by 240 then running a big promotion about a 240 off "sale"

      • +1

Hi damoo, I ordered the GS5 for $600-$240 via Online Sales. The rep initially said that GS5 is $840. I stated that I was in a Telstra store earlier and the handset is tagged at $600 outright. He checked and confirmed it is same price as store at $600.
The 1st bill will have $600 charge on it, $240 credit will be applied on next bill. I've saved the chat transcript and will see how that goes. :)

        • well done! i tried a few online chats but they wouldn't budge from the 840 price.

FYI I saw in another thread someone was saying instore they don't even really check you have a plan with telstra.

So for anyone looking for a cheap phone, but not on telstra- it's worth a try.

When I bought instore, they just asked for my phone number, I don't think they used it to check anything

  • +1

Beware anyone who wants to recontract a BYO mobile plan with Telstra.

I went into the store and they did say the price for an LG G4 was $744 before any discounts such as the -$240 offer.

However I'm on a BYO mobile plan with 5gb from the specials a few months ago - they wouldn't let me recontract to the same deal - it would be only 2.5gb of data for the $50/month. If I wanted the extra 2.5gb that'd be for only new customers - so I would have to get a new number.

Considering new customers can signup for $40/month for 7gb of data, existing customers get screwed!

As soon as my contract is up I'll be switching away from Telstra.

  • +1

hey FYI, I was able to get the $360 price instore today for the s5.
So it's still doable- just not online, only instore

    • +1

Tried online but they called back with the $840 price.
      I'll try in store.
