    • It will be fine, you are better off to put in something like a 1GB graphics card anyway.

Gigabyte 5450 is a popular swap, in terms of storage thats personal how much data do you have? Most people would just go a single 3TB if you want to use raid go twin etc etc..

  • Hi Rep, the price now $469??!! 3PM - Midnight: Intel 5th Gen NUC i5 $429

    • sorry - must be my typo, price on the page is $469

      • Thanks… I am sure when checking out this morning, it was $429 on the page - must have been changed in the last minute… Is the deal started now?

        • yes it has started.

        • +1

@ShoppingExpress: thanks - placed the order with 8G DDR3 RAM and WD Blue 2.5'' SATA 1T…:)

        • +1

It was $429 when I checked this morning as well

        • +1

@opcode: yes disappointing and annoying that the price was changed in the late minute after I had spent time making the purchase plan.

  • damm, just wasted $8.00
    ordered
    1x MB-MC32DAEU Samsung EVO+ 32GB MicroSDHC Card+Adapter $25.00 $25.00
    1x KVR16LS118 Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600MHz SODIMM $54.00 $54.00
    Delivery Method: Aus Post, Couriers $10.87( Discount - -$10.87 ) $0.00
    Order Subtotal $79.00

without looking at the 32gb microSDHC is still $25 and not $17 (too early)

Any chance of a GTX970 showing up tomorrow rep?

  • trying to buy the i3 nuc, how do i add the 4gb ram for $30?

  • Hi OzB, first comment/post, go easy on me!

    N54L / Gen8 G1610T / Other??

A bit out of the loop technology wise but would love something I can put by my TV (60" Samsung Plasma smart) to act as a storage with backup (raid???), HTPC (access over network to laptop, tablets?), NAS and potentially a little gaming box for some emulators.

Would either of these do the job well?

    I was looking at:
    G1610T
2x WD Red 4TB SATA 3.5" Internal Hard Drive WD40EFRX, maybe more at a later date
    2x Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz ECC
    low profile GPU? (Any reccomendations?
Installing the OS on a USB?

    Thanks so much!

    • The unit can hold 4 disks so putting OS on a USB is rather pointless..
For the low profile GPU a 5450 is a popular choice and sells for $50~ on ShoppingExpress i added that to my deal also it does HDMI so that covers video/sound in a simple card.

    • Hi newmanmi,

      Welcome to OzBargain :-)

See my post lower down on this page regarding setting up our own group deal on the N54L…

      You interested?

  • Sooo ShoppingExpress, will we be seeing a TP-Link Archer D9 tomorrow? :)

  • Would HP hurry the heck up and make the Gen9 or Gen10 Microserver already? It's getting ridiculous at this point.
We get it, the N54L was good and cheap, I don't even care i f it's nearly double the price just give us something with more horsepower, HDMI, USB3 and NOT less disk space like the crappy Gen8 replacement.

  • Managed to get an OfficeWorks price beat on the R7000, and they didn't include the postage. I assume the same could be done for the other products to come.

  • Great, looks like the Gen8 Microserver is out of stock.

  • What's Friday's schedule?

      • Ok so what would most people go for between the 2 cheap laptops, HP for $269 or the Asus for $199?

The HP represents 64% off their RRP as opposed to the ASUS being 60% off

        • I just got the HP as a spare xmas gift, only for the larger screen…and newer chip, I know it is slower, but more efficient (using less power).

Real discount is only $80-$90 from the discounted price… don't let $799 price fool you, don't buy based on that crazy price…

      • thanks ideasman,

        post has been updated.

    Hi Rep,

Just wondering if I missed the G8 Sale? Is there any chance I could pick one up for the $269 sale price?

    • +1

Will try to arrange more at this price.

      • +1

Awesome! Thank you. Very fast response.

      • Thanks Rep, I will be happy for late delivery(back order also)
Can you please advise - Adding 2 NAS HDD and HP Microserver will have 1 Shipping cost or 2 even if G8 is late delivery?

        • Can you please advise - Adding 2 NAS HDD and HP Microserver <=== it may increase the freight by ~$1 depending on your location. The best way to verify is to add them into your shopping cart now and then enter the post code to check out.

        • @ShoppingExpress: Thanks rep. If I add HP Microserver and 2 NAS drives, it gives Buy3Get1Free Free Shipping. Will it be applicable after 8 PM(to 12 AM)

        • @akd:

Shipping will apply anytime your order combine a free shipping product with another item that has no free shipping offer.

          Cheers

  • Hi Rep,

Just wondering if there is any special price on the HP N54L 4GB model or only the 2GB as listed?

    Cheers

  • Any computer Tech out here, is this HP N3050 for $269 good for basic use & worth the price? Thanks in advance

  • Site crashed.

  • getting www.shoppingexpress.com.au - Connection failed, also wondering if a 1TB HDD will be on sale? im building a custom PC so I hope one goes on sale

    • they are fixing the issue. As for 1TB HDD, the only 1 TB featuring will be Seagate Thin Laptop 1TB 2.5" SSHD $99, will not have 3.5" hard drive for your PC. But if you want to PM me your interested model, i can see if we can have it in upcoming promotions.

  • I missed the UX305 with the M-5Y10 chip, which was an excellent price.

But I was too wary of the performance of the chip to take the plunge and vacillated for so long that the deal expired.

If that comes back, I'll be grabbing it.

    • chance is there, please keep eye sharp

  • Looks like there website is down … Keep getting this error ….

  • Hi Rep, just confirming..

    8PM - Midnight: Microserver $199,

This is for the HP N54L Microserver $199 right ??

    Thanks

    • +2

missed out too? i very much doubt they had 30 and was just using it as an advertising ploy

  • Where are the mice deals?

I'd love the Razer Mamba Tournament below $100.

  • was waiting for the 970 to go on sale but not sure if i should grab the one on sale now.. or wait a little longer for the price to drop somewhere else. :/

  • Well the N54L sold out in seconds. Damn shame

    • +4

dirty (profanity) tactic if you ask me. i was on the site 8pm on the dot.. product remained at 299 the whole time. went through checkout regardless which had the price at 199. put my paypal details in and was then thrown back to a page saying there was none left.

i would've assumed that if i had one in my cart - it would reserve it at least for a min so i could complete checkout. very disappointed

      • Same Here Had registered and had the thing in my cart, Sold out,
        Bloody BS

        Attention grabbing that's all/.

      • +1

        What a load of sh*t!

        I knew this would happen…

I knew that they would put the N54L Microserver at the very end of the sale in order to keep everyone's eye's glued to the sale for the whole 3 days…

I knew that they would have a very low quantity on sale…

This, if you ask me, is a b*llshit kind of marketing scam…

        30 units?

        Pffft…

And, yes, the price stayed at $299 for the whole time, up until. 8.10pm, then it changed to $199 with "Out of stock"…

This sale wasn't worth my time and energy.

It was more like a "competition" than a sale.

        Waste of time.

Won't be wasting my time with Shopping Express ever again.

Better off paying full price than to waste time mucking around like this.

        • +2

There were some good deals, but the whole set-up (wait and wait and wait and then lunge for the mouse while the server half-crashes) is almost guaranteed to piss off so many people that they'll lose more future customers than they get.

Door-busters cause more problems than they solve.

        • @GordonR: I agree.

        • @GordonR:

yep. ill be sure to avoid these guys in the future

        • @ideasman:

          YEP PATHETIC SHIOPPING EXPRESS !!!

        • @ideasman: Sent you a PM :-)

        • @dealman: Sent you a PM :-)

        • +1

I dont get it, how did SE keep everyone's eye's glued to the sale for the whole 3 days?
You just go on their website every morning, look for the deal that you like and then be online when it starts. FFS they published the entire day's deals and timings in the morning, it is your loss if you spent 3 days glued to their website waiting for prices to drop.
I am amused it is a waste of your time and energy, this whole exercise would have taken 10 minutes of you sitting on your arse in front of a computer. And now the slamming just provides disincentives for retailers to provide deals like this.

Nice to see the boisterous, self-entitled, hyperbolic OzBargainer is still alive.

        • @qazwsx:

Yes, for most of the deals, you could do as you suggested, though some people can't really arrange to be online at a given time if they have to do things like work, picking up kids etc.

But these guys (not me) were pissed off because for this item, they arranged to be online, but it vanished before they could even click Submit.

First world problems, sure., nobody's really hurt and life goes on.

But if I were a business using sales to drum up goodwill, then I wouldn't spruik a massive discount for two days, sell 5 at that pricce in 30 seconds, and leave 45 people irritated.

It just seems to me that a business model that leaves a whole bunch of potential customers pissed off might not be optimal.

  • What a waste of time waiting, couldn't even see the change of price of the HP N54L and it's sold out already.

    • +6

Maybe we should all try to set up a "group deal" with one of Shopping Express's competitors…

It appears that a lot of people are interested in the N54L…

Perhaps if we can get, say, 50 of us who are interested in buying the N54L…

And then, we can approach one of their competitors and try to set up a group deal…

What price would each of you be willing to pay for the N54L in a group deal?

If we could get it down to, say, $230 how many of you would be interested in that?

      There is strength in numbers…

Let's skew the balance of power in our favour, I say!

      • I'm interested. I've been waiting for a good deal.. and then this.

        • Excellent.

          Me too!

How much would you be willing to pay?

Shopping Express' price of $199 may very well have been lower than their cost price, since they were really using this deal as a kind of "marketing bait", rather than as a genuine deal in it's own right…

They probably made up for the losses on these 30 units with all the other items on sale, with all our eyes glued to their website for the past 3 days…

        • @jm03:

I wasn't planning on spending more than 220.

        • @tren: Would you be willing to pay $250-$260 for the 4GB model if we can get it down to that?

…bearing in mind that the Shopping Express sale was on the 2GB model, not the 4GB model.

        • @jm03:
We have between 6 and 10 of the 4gb model in stock. Cost is 294+GST but they are dead stock, would sell them for $265 inc GST and postage for anyone interested.
Note, these are not listed online anywhere to sell.

        • @asusnotebooks: We are interested.

I tried to send you a PM but it appears that you do not have private messages enabled in settings…

Can you pls contact me via PM so we can discuss further?

        • @jm03: Sorry my PM Setting was off, Just turned it on should be good to go.

      • I'm interested. Been looking for a nice cheap NAS and the Gen 8 has slightly more power but with more limitations. Would rather the N54L

        • Excellent.

I tried to send you a private message, but it appears that you may have your private messaging setting switched off…

          Is that correct?

        • @jm03: Not sure, May need to check my settings. Yup Was off, it's on now.

        • @Chirpy: Great. Sent you a PM - see inbox :-)

      • I'm In

        • +1

          Great!

We have a number of people that have expressed interest in this potential group deal up till this point in time.

          We still need more.

Anyone else interested get in contact.

If any of you know of anyone else interested, send me a PM.

I'm collating a list of all those interested.

        • +1

@jm03: THanks for taking the initiative :-)

        • @dealman: No probs. Thanks for expressing your interest :-)

      • Thanks for the PM guys, I'm good with $230 for the 2GB or $250 for the 4GB inc shipping. Bring it on.

        • +1

          Excellent…

I've added you to my list, lang_tu_syd :-)

        • +1

I'd be interested at this price as well. Really disappointed in shopping express with this.

        • @hohohoa: Excellent, hohohoa!

I've added you to my list :-)

We are doing well at this point as more and more people are contacting me expressing interest in this potential group deal the list is growing…

          We still need more people.

If any of you out there are interested in this potential HP N54L group deal do get in contact with me via PM, so I can add you to the list…

The more people we have, the greater our bargaining power.

We would like to have a decent amount of people on our list as soon as possible so we can go forward with this "Black Friday" sale momentum and approach a retailer within the next few days/weeks…

Get in contact if you're interested :-)

        • +1
