Sony KD65X8500C 65" 4K ULTRA HD $2499 (Save $1300) @ JB Hi-Fi

600

Just bought a new TV in time for Xmas! Walked into JB Hi-Fi Macquarie Centre and the sales assistant was putting out the offers for tomorrow's sale. Got the Sony X8500C 4K 65" TV for $2499, with a massive $1300 price drop. Was close to purchasing the Sony FHD 65" TV last week having haggled it down to $2450 with $130 eftpos card at Harvey Norman, but this deal beats it!

  • nvm, better deal at BingLee below

    https://www.binglee.com.au/sony-kd65x8500c-65-3d-uhd-led-tv

    use ebay10 for 10% discount.

    • For Me Binglee is more cause they charge me $294 to deliver cause I have no binglee

      • Sucks to be you 😝

$40 delivery here. No nearby store with stock though.

        • Think it sucks for anyone not in NSW :)

Almost $500 more expensive than similar specs of Panasonic and Samsung. Does this TV really that better than Samsung 7 series? I doubt it…

Doesn't look like it rates very well. i.e. Samsungs and LG's rated a fair bit higher.

    • It's good to see these ratings by brand and model. However, a lot of the models does not apply for the Australian market. By any chance there is a website similar to rtings.com but more au specific?

Same TV's they just use slightly different model numbers in the US. Its generally pretty easy to work out whats what and the ratings very much apply to the Australian models.

        • Annoying that they don't have Panasonic on there.

    So tempting

  • 20% off eBay tomorrow might have this also… I'd say Bing Lee will de-list large items

  • I just bought Sony 65 FHD for 2248 from thegoodguys two weeks back :(

  • So close to the Boxing Day sales, probably better to wait - the best tv deals of the year are just around the corner

  • what is the:

    1. lag input
    2. DP 1.2/hdmi 2.0 ?
    3. does chroma 4:4:4 ?

would be cool to use as a monitor ;-)

my 40" 4k is a little small to sit so far away.

    • dont know about this model but the Samsung 75inch https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/221776 in this deal is amazing as a monitor, i have had it installed in 2 of our offices and connected a pc to it … as good as a monitor and great from far away :)

    • About 35-40 milliseconds input lag, has HDMI 2.0 and can do 4:4:4 chroma after a software update.

      • That seams like excessively high input lag!

        • Not really unless you're doing fast paced competitive gaming. Some of the Samsung TVs do better though.

  • i can hold off till the 70"+ are under 2k next xmas! hopefully by then the 4k blurays come out and its actually usefull to get!

    • Last Boxing Day. 70 inch Sony FHD was $2000 and 70 inch 4K was $3000.

How strong was our currency then? ;)

        • They hedged their currency already. The exchange rate was AU$1.00: USD0.80 cents.
My point was it is hard to get 70+ lower than $2k.
Your point is to reinforce my point?

  • I'm holding out for oled

    Deleted

  • Im not surprised the price has dropped so much. I have one of these (in the 55inch variant) and I find the Android O/S very buggy. The TV becomes unresponsive and needs to be rebooted often. Sometime it just reboots on it own.

If considering this TV it is 2558 direct from Sony, which may be a better option for some, as it comes with a BONUS Xperia™ M4 Aqua smartphone (while stocks last) and free shipping, as well as 2.4% cash back from cashrewards: http://www.sony.com.au/product/kd-65x8500c

    http://www.sony.com.au/microsite/summerwithsony/#bravia-smar…

Next model up (65x9000c) also on sale for $3358: http://www.sony.com.au/product/kd-65x9000c

  • $2498 at Harvey Norman with bonus 6 months Netflix - http://www.harveynorman.com.au/tv-blu-ray-home-theatre/tvs/t…

  • TVs keep getting cheaper even with the falling AUD. :)

  • Asked jb to price match bing lee. They came down to $2350. Decided to quickly check if The sony centre in home hq nunawading could beat jbs price. The staff member at sony was so impressed with that price one of the staff came over to jb with me to ask for one as well (sony wouldnt price match / beat jbs price saying it was too cheap!) I thought that was interesting. So i got it from jb. Upgraded from a 40 inch Toshiba fhd, this thing is a monster!

  • Just went to Harvey Norman @ Castle Hill got it for $2325 if anybody is interested, they had to call through to the supplier to double check. They also have stock

  • I have an order with Bing Lee for this Sony KD65X8500C for $2248.20 which I'm trying to get rid of. Currently scheduled to be picked up at Burwood (Sydney) next week. Anyone interested to take this off my hands please message me!

    • Why you getting rid of it?

      • Sudden change of financial circumstances after my order. I've managed to cancel my order with Bing Lee so it's sorted now.
