  • both I think

  • working from home today might hit up northland to see if I can beat the trakky dack brigade.

  • Anyone know if buying into dsh will be worth it in the short-term ?

    • Yes, we need more ds investor's money to funds more sale.

  • Hoping to find a cheap tv but I am not getting my hopes up as I missed out yesterday, are the lavazza coffee machines any good?

    • Lavazza machines take their own pods that are rarely discounted, so can be a bit expensive to run. Usually cheaper or free when cash back is offered.
I've got 3 different models with RRP up to $175, but never paid more than $9 (delivered) with Ozbargain deals. Happy with them, but I've got free coffee Lavazza sent out.

  • trying to remember which model they had think it was the a modo mio range.

I'm just going to throw it out there that there's probably no new prices today.

I think they updated the prices yesterday and today they're just advertising them/ticketing them today. I was able to buy a couple of 500gb PVRs + DVD recorders for my family yesterday with some for as cheap at $19.70. I doubt they are going to reduce those prices even further today. There's also the 60% off iPhones they're advertising when we already know that yesterday they had iPhones (5c 16gb) for $99 just it wasn't advertised.

I'm betting there will be a lot of disappointed ozbargainers today when they realise there is nothing new on sale.

  • Will head in today and take a look. If security systems are a good price Ill pick one up. If they happen to have Nespresso machines Ill grab one as well.

  • Hmmm anyone expect any deals on the Nokia/Microsoft Lumia's today? I imagine as they would be newish stock that the answer might be no.

  • Was there any pc monitor on clearance? Thanks

    • They had a 28" 4K Samsung Monitor down from $699 to $399

      • Thanks, I'm looking for a 24" fhd.

  • If in doubt ask them to scan.

Where are the iphones usually kept - behind the counter or in a cabinet?

    • iPhones at all stores in Melbourne sold out effective yesterday

      • +2

to the store staff and their families

  • +2

k guys, out hunting dick now

  • What's everyone's plans, just walk in the store and ask the staff to scan everything? Fingers crossed someone gets a price list early today :)

  • Just doing my civic duty, waiting out front DSE Warrawong with the wife. Hello to the other ozbargainers here. I'll report back what I find.

  • +5

I dreamt that I scored some Dick deals last night

  • +2

    Alrighty good luck everyone
    Stress kicks in now
    Mums spaghetti

  • +9

Nedski reporting in from Canberra Civic. Will report whats on offer.

Back to you in the studio.

    • I'll probably come down during lunch. Not expecting much though :P

    • +5

      Reporting from belconnen.

    • Just left Woden. They had a stack of freshly printed red clearance price tags behind the counter advertising the huge mark downs. I asked if a few sound bars were discounted, he says no. I ask when the LG sound bar price on the tag on the counter would come into effect, he grabs tags and puts them under the counter and says he's not sure.
Might go back at lunch after he has figured out what's going on.

    • Just got back from Canberra civic DSE, got:
1x Philip soundbar and sub (no remote) $30
1x kaiser baas smart media plus (no remote) $44.70

      • Ha! I think I saw you at the counter buying that stuff.

        • Haha were you the one asking about Samsung phones?

I ended up returning the media player, same price as website and no remote. They wouldn't discount it so I took it back

        • @CodeXD:

I asked once if they had the phones and they said they had to wait for the Samsung guy.

          I have enough loot though.

  • Is it worth heading to DS/DJs at 9am? Will there be anything new or will it just be all of yesterday's stuff sold out?

    • Read any comment above mate and you'll see no one knows

      • I guess I'll just have to see for myself and report back

  • Just arrived first person at door… 3 cars in carpark

    • Which one? I am omw to emporium MELB

      • +4

I'm the only one waiting out front… Very awkward lol

        • +14

          Lol I see you…

        • @Banana: any clearance or stock there guys?

        • @Lukian:
Sorry a bit late, but they had some Samsung s tablets wifi+4g for $379. Grabbed one but boyfriend said it wasn't cheap enough so I put it down. Left with one an iPhone charging cable. My morning wasted.
A couple of ozbargainer (dj027?) grabbed a couple each and a camera I think. But overall it was ''meh"

        • @Banana: From what I read in yesterday's comments it looks like the large/well located stores like this one don't have a lot of clearance (old) stock. They're likely pretty safe stores (if DSE ends up closing others).

    • +10

      Park of Shame :)
You feel dirty and cheap waiting outside stores, i hate it.

      • But you know what a deal is deal, your saving money.

        • +3

Yeah, only most people are spending money they otherwise wouldn't even be spending.
So i'm sure how good that deal is :)

Everyone seems to love DIck's Big Carrot

  • +4

You eastern OzBargainers have the responsibility of weaving out the good deals before the rest of the country ;)

    • +5

Exactly what I'm thinking - will decide based on that whether it's worth lining up outside DSE west lakes or not, also carn the pear :)

  • +6

No love for DSE bankstown. I'm the only one waiting. I feel awkward

    • Thats good for you! First crack.

  • +7

Seagulls are gathering at ashfield =)

  • Good prices on Samsung tab s

  • Ugh, it feels to early to be up.

  • +1

Eight people at DSE South Yarra.

    • +2

How ironic being one of the most expensive suburbs of Melbourne

      • Everyone loves a bargain! And there are commission flats 500m from the store, so I'm not sure how important everyone is.

    • They are probably staff waiting to be paid or vendors waiting for payment on stock ;-)

  • +1

    and… here… we… go…!

  • Any cheap Go pros?

  • +7

Time to bust out the old Eneloop necklace; unlimited power, maximal intimidation. Round 3: Fight!!!

    • Your eneloop necklace will be ineffective against my ssd box armour

  • Just enquired at highpoint. Dyson tower fan was an active model, so not on clearance. No MacBooks left. Left empty handed. :-(

    • Did u ask about demo Dyson fan then?

      • +3

Didn't want it, so didn't ask. The only demo they had was a desk fan, not a tower fan. I'm not gonna buy it, even if it's cheap, if it doesn't suit my needs.

        • Nice level headed bargainer!!!

  • +1

anyone going to highpoint ds and dj? if you are is there anything good there?

    • +1

Was there yesterday and the day before. The best deal I came close to was a IPad Air Demo for $98. Staff went to the back to check and it was apparently "sold".

  • +1

Bring on the updates, NSW, VIC and TAS!

  • Any Sonos bargains?

  • +3

Reporting from Fairfield, not much going on. Better luck tomorrow or the promised saturday.

    • Don't lose hope, scan everything!

      • Not much left to scan i'm afraid! Went in yesterday and most of the clearance stock was gone (on top of no tv's or cams - small store). All new lines aren't and will not be reduced.

        • Really, I was the first at Melbourne's Bourke St store yesterday and walking in feeling the same. Walked around with one of the staff members and even he way saying the deals were crap. Then 30 minutes later he came and found me and showed me a $3,000 TV for $899! (pay's to be friendly and hang around, I don't think staff even know the deals).

        • @C0123: Oh I totally understand that, I ended up talking to the staff at my store for 30 minutes and they were sharing stories with me about their own great buys at other stores (workmates getting them stock). We started talking about random things like their jobs and I got to know them which was cool. Just if there's no stock, there's no stock! Nonetheless I upvoted this post based on their customer service.

        • @C0123: which model was it? might try my local.
just walked through and staff have no idea what's going on.
none were aware of the trickled online offers today.

        • @attfiecz2: UA65HU7200, good luck!

        • @C0123: thanks. i'd checked the prices online - please don't let it be the curved one…
          curved it is!
good to know though, i'll check the other Samsungs.

        • @attfiecz2: Whats wrong with the curved?

        • @C0123: i've tried but i just can't get my head around them.
but then it's only been in a shop, probably better in a home setting.
In positive news I have today embraced Dick and lost my Eneloop virginity.

        • @attfiecz2: haha same here, I'm not sure how batteries can be $50, but for $5 I'm willing to find out!

    • +7

Chris Fleming (director of retail stores) stated yesterday that there will be nothing new on Saturday. All the clearance is launching little by little from Tuesday until Friday, and by this weekend, everything will be on clearance already.

The goal is to start the weekend with no old stock left on hand.

      • Oh I see, that's fair enough. Thanks for the heads up!

    • Did you see any logteich g430s?

      • Yup but they weren't reduced. From memory they were over $100.

    • +1

Thnx mate. Saved me a trip.

  • +1

not going to bother going today, i didnt see any good floor stock yesterday that i would be intersted in, mostly cheap crap that no one wants.

  • +1

Where the H is the sale ??????? Nothing !!!!!

  • Is there going to be a deal on Saturday? according to sydney morning herald?

  • +22

Looks like Dick already blew his load

    • Saturday looks to be the money shot

    • LOL.

  • +4

Absolutely nothing at Greensborough. Staff member was agitated before Ozbargainers even entered the store and said he will struggle to scan prices. Said they aren't set up for a sale. Disappointing unfortunately, but it's hard to expect something with such limited stock.

He also said Dick isn't closing down.

    • In my experience whenever an executive tells staff "everything is fine/we are not closing" it means "I'm selling my shares as fast as possible and hitting up mates for a golden parachute"

    • +1

They said the same thing to me yesterday.

  • Any fitbit bargains?

    • fitbit flex only

      red or tangerine $50

  • +2

Not sure if anyone agrees, but I feel like the sale is a few good items, maybe 1 per store ex display for crazy prices, attempting to create word of mouth across the sale days. While increasing traffic and loss leading on some products they are bringing out new stock on "sale" so that people, lost in the sale spirit buy things that are just regular price.

  • +9

DSE Emporium isn't opening their door. Maybe they got scared yesterday?

    • Lol, I might try in 20 or so, any luck?
