  • Anyone get a handle on the price list?? Don't be shy now.
    Thx in advance.

  • Heard from a staff member that this sale is going on for a month, doubt there would be anything left really.

  • -2

Hmm the store phones in Canberra ring out… perhaps they sold them yesterday? :)

  • Anyone tried the unbranded smartphones for price scan?
Be interesting if anyone else can get the $59 for a Sony Xperia Z that one other OZB member seemed to get.

    • +1

      Got 2 yesterday, all gone.

      • I wonder how any of the other brands go, i saw heaps of Samsung S4 and S5 handsets in the unbranded cabinet.
Along with heaps more other brands.

  • +1

Thank you for visiting, please come again

  • Any early morning bargainers see if there was any good savings on security like the SwannOne stuff?

  • +2

    Jbl charge bluetooth speaker $59

    Lg bluetooth speaker NP7550 $51

  • No TV's at Hurstville

  • Nothing worth. Samsung tablets 60% off and the are still expensive

    • +1

Saw someone buy 2x display model Note 10.1 for 150 each…………

Can't believe it, its a rip off at that price.

  • Don't bother with Merrylands… absolutley nothing.

    • Probably all got stolen.

      • Hey! I live here :P

        • I'm thinking of trying Fairfield and wetherill park stores.

        • @wolfenator87:
Best of luck. I think those stores would of been cleaned out, but you never know.

  • +3

Should have just organised a Ozbargainers meet-up. I have exchanged so many awkward glaces with people while waiting for DS to open

  • Parrot drones and vehicles?

  • +1

Any intel on Sydney shops esp in the city or along the northern line?

    • i7s are on sale, not sure about the i5s.

      • How much? And is it the george street shop or the Westfield plaza shop?

        • Not sure, I don't live in Sydney. I was just going off this.

    • lol Intel or intelligence?

  • Nowra store (small regional) had next to nothing left at 5pm yesterday. No point going back to a store that had no stock yesterday. Seems to be the same story for others too. perhaps the CBD stores might be a little different.

  • -6

Can someone from the Eastern States please ask a store member (or get it scanned to check) If the Sony MDR10RNC & MDRZX770BNB Noise Cancelling Headphone Bundle is on special?
Also is the Sony Bdps5500 or 6500 blu ray player on sale?
    Thanks. :)

    • Hehe.. WA. and SA is up early. I think all eastern people should post invoices here so that rest of the country gets dse puk and price

      • -1

Why am I getting negged? I said 'please'? :p

        • +2

I'm guessing because you have the audacity to ask someone to go out of their way to find three different items just for you and get them scanned to check their prices, because you can't be bothered to go out yourself and check?

        • @Rupture:
Go out of their way? I never asked that. I was meaning that if someone tried to buy a set themselves they could let me know.
As for not being bothered, it's a bit hard when they don't open for another 2 hours.

        • @fatpizza:

I went in and had a look anyway and as expected neither of the items I mentioned was on special. Nothing gained(except a few negs), nothing lost. :p

  • Chadstone apparently had five Logitech Ultimate remotes yesterday morning (reduced to $100), yet when asked about them a little later I was told that if they had any they'd be "out the back". Of course there were none upon checking - they'd all somehow sold while not even on display in the store…

So if staff didn't nab them I guess somebody just took all five to flip them.

    • +1

I managed to snag a 'returned not suitable' one last on the shelf in a BNE store - and I saved a few OZB'ers - it should have read 'faulty not for sale' grrrr Ahhh well - more excuse to go back today!

    • They weren't on display when I bought one yesterday. They only had the el-cheapo ones out of the floor.

  • I got a fitness tracker for 9.98 (Amazon is 50usd+) lifetrak c200 core. Unfortunately they took the label away as it was a price error.

  • Grabbed a PS TV for $29.99. Thanks OP!

  • +7

Not much to do pretty in point cook, 6 people outside the store,
No slrs, no deals on TV's,
    Samsung s5's at $489,
    S4's at $404,
    Xperia z $199,
    Z2 $374
    Philips bdp2180 at $50,
    Ps3 500gb $150
Xbox 360 console 250gb with halo reach, fable 3 and 3 months Xbox live $99
    ps3 gta v $10, battlefield 4 for 10bucks,
    fitbit flex $53

About of people asking at the counter for the discounts listed in this thread but the staff are just saying prices are as marked or there's no stock.

  • +1

The line outside of Parramatta is huge!

    • Lol i Knew it! Good thing i didn't wake up and actually bother going. Lose 10 dollars for train fare lol

    • -4

looks similar to the line of migrants trying to get into Europe for freebies on welfare.

  • Macquarie Dicksmith not opening doors… Large group outside and they are taking their sweet time. But seems like they are trying to put up all their tags unlike the previous day

From the looks of it from outside a lot of things on clearance, can't say for sure exactly what but better than top Ryde dicksmith

    • Could you let us know if there is anything decent, mainly looking at Bluetooth speakers. Got work.. and won't be able to get there till at least 7pm, so mostly everything will be gone I'm sure.

      • They had some bluetooth ones. One was from JABRA - Soulmate. RRP is 99 on their tickets but cut to 40 bux? Harvey Norman has em for 170 i think. Got some decent reviews but looks like a shoe.

Someone nabbed the last JBL flip 1 which was at half price as well.

All others were at full price

        • Cool, thanks for letting me know. Nothing to get to excited about.

Will still go after work though, to check if there's anything remotely interesting.

    • what was wrong with Top Ryde?

      • A lot of the sales weren't ticketed. you had to keep asking if this was on sale or that was on sale and it just took forever. Some for the sales also didn't make sense.
For example at top ryde a lot of the action camera mounts were at half price - 50% off all accessories
but at Mac they were cut down to 1 dollar.
It just seemed like a lot more effort than driving 10 minutes down the road and checking out mac

  • Anyone know if Logitech pc speakers sre discounted? Save me the trip. Theyre not answering phones at my local

  • Any Logitech Ultimate Harmony remotes. The $400 ones for $100??

    • Eastgardens had 3 left yesterday at 4pm

      • Is the Ultimate One model at $100?

        • No, the Ultimate is $100 - which is effectively the One and the Smart Control together. The One is probably cheaper.

  • Few people waiting at the Adelaide store

    • Anything at the Adelaide CBD store? Worth making a trip to?

    • Anything good in the Adelaide store?

    • Updates?

  • +8

And on the 3rd day Dick Smith rested.

  • Don't bother with Narellan, nothing here today. Asked and they said just go with what's marked and try your luck

  • This morning Wollongong store had a few extra things on the bargain table. A Bluetooth boombox some more blu ray players and some phone docks with speakers. Also they were putting out some of the electronic toys.

    • So all the discounted tv are already gone, right? Haven't got time to go since yesterday. Please let me know, so I can save a trip, cheers.

  • +3

    nothing at DSE bourke St

  • Is this all stores? Just went to Melton, they are acting like business as usual, I asked them what was on clearance and they had nothing and the manager doesn't even know what sale everyone is on about, quote "what just because you saw it on some forum somewhere?"

    • +1

Gawd. That cocky behaviour annoys me about DSE employees. Have encountered a few in the popular stores like Broadway. Also, please tell me you had a good comeback.

      • +1

To be fair they might be sick and tired of us already lol. I work in retail and I understand where they are coming from - I would blame how management went about of this sale as they didn't give the stores and staff enough time to prep for the sale. Arguably due to shares dropping drastically management took out emergency procedures to steady the boat so yeah… hard to point the finger at anyone here.

        • +1

I get that they're frustrated now. But even on non-sale days, some of them just have the wrong attitude, especially the guys in Broadway. Im not the most techy person but being polite to them doesn't help, they like to talk down to you. I avoid that damn store and rather buy from online retailers.

Also there's a big difference between "Sorry, cant help you, we don't know of this offer" versus "what just because you saw it on some forum somewhere?"

        • +1

If you were store manager you'd think after 2 days of the biggest sale in the company's history you would have a clue. He even said "there's not even an official advertisement" and one of his staff had to correct him.

Is it just me or does this feel like Brash's all over again, for those who can remember?

        • @Cronut: Yeah I get what you mean, I'm glad the guys at my store are pretty awesome. One of them was teaching a newer employee on customer service and how to greet them etc.

If your store continues to act (keeping in mind I'm not saying everyone is) like that chances are they won't get a lot of the everyday sales.

        • @Dontreadthis: wow, that's a bit of a throwback but yes, it's vey similar.

        • @Dontreadthis: Haha yeah I remember Brash's, they were top.

        • That's the job at the end of the day, if they don't like retail change fields

      • @cronut, was this the Broadway NSW store?

        • +1

          Yeah. Start of this year.

    • It is sad when people come on here and quote a price for an item, then don't back it up with evidence.
Im sure there has been more than one tall tail, which then leads members into store with false hopes and ideas.

I got caught out yesterday, returning to the store to ask about prices i heard here, only to be laughed at and proved incorrect.

      • +2

Yeah i agree but they had NOTHING. Worst of all the manager had no idea what was going on at all. Your company is pretty much nuking itself mate and you're still sitting by the pool having a beer. I mean no one was being rude, they were just asking and he was carrying on like a dick. No surprise though, Melton is one of the worst DSE stores in the country, and it's pretty new too.. It'll be the first to go.

        • +2

          Are the stores going?
I get the idea they are just cleaning out the dead stock.
Staff at my DS said there would be sales again after Christmas and nothing about the store closing.
Staff were also very helpful and polite.
I can appreciate any store in a Western Suburb would be subjected to some pretty unpleasant customers though.

      • +1

The point is, they didn't have to laugh at you. Thats the attitude of the DSE staff. Even if you got it wrong, which I doubt you did, there's no need to be a dick and laugh at a customer.

        • Exactly what happened to me at Burwood Westfield, dude just laugh at me and congratulate me on finding galaxy tab s2 for $100, when I just casually asked him what tablet is on special, he said what you after, and I replied how about tab s2. I got pissed off and snapped back, who saying anything about $100 for galaxy tab s2, dude just bowed his head and went quiet.

      • "back it up with evidence" why would anyone bother to do that?

        • When something seems suspiciously cheap and other people cant manage to get the same price.
Then, it is only polite to back up your posts with some kind of proof, otherwise people will start posting anything, just because they get kick out of it.
Isn't the idea here to share and help others?
I guess some people are just cocky by nature, or full of S#$t :)

But thats of little help to people whom are genuinely trying to find a bargian and support a claim.

    • +2

Tell him to piss off, it's on their website. Even if that particular store has no clearance stock and he really doesn't know, it's rude to say that to a customer.

  • AN employee told me that the main purpose of this is to generate foot traffic with them for Christmas. Get a good deal now and you might buy something else from them that you otherwise wouldn't have.

    • Heh heh. That's what he's been told from head office ;)

    • +1

I fail to see how that logic would work, me buying something that's a bargain now doesnt encourage me to buy from the same store again unless they have a better bargain then other stores.

      • Not everyone is bargain hungry haha. Human nature - Had a good experience, will shop again. Have a bad experience, avoid in future.

        • I'm not "bargain hungry". I just don't see how foot traffic generated from a clearance sale would increase the chance of me buying something I "otherwise wouldn't have" unless the price is competitive.

Price and customer service are important, price just weighs more heavily on my end decision to purchase.

      • If You got to a shopping center - you might just pop in to dicks when walking past incase you miss out on another bargain

    • Fat chance.

      • Again, not everyone is bargain hungry.

  • +5

Nothing on George st store Sydney CBD and Sydney Central Plaza

    • Did you ask for some price checks? I remember yesterday 9-12 everything was selling

  • Just went to Chadstone Victoria. I was only after a cheap tv. The guy said all the crazily discounted stuff went yesterday. Why did my day off have to be today??

    • +6

If you can find some new stock, go for it.

Be careful about the display models, most of these have been running way past the 5,000 hours mark. Check for screen video-retention. Some of our Samsung tablets have been on display for so long, they have a yellow "ghost picture" behind what is displayed.

  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5" 4G for $379 at DSE Sydney CBD!!!

Props to the staff at the store who got everyone to line up in an orderly fashion for a first come first serve basis.

Jabra audio definitely on price reduction too, selling like hotcakes.

    • Omg that's heaps good! Is it busy there?? I'm still on the train on my way to city >.< hope there's good stuff left !

      • It was pretty busy once they brought out the Samsung goods. Renovation people were taking apart the Samsung display area whilst they were selling the Samsung stock on hand.

If you're in now, you might have missed the boat on the tablets :(

Wouldn't hurt to ask the staff though for what's in stock though, they're really nice there!

        • Haha thanks! I checked in but even the display was gone. Ah wells. Thanks!

        • @mintygirl: :( Sorry to hear! Hope you manage to score a bargain (or several) in the next few days yourself!

    • Managed to grab one but didn't buy. My 'unreliable" source told me it wasn't cheap enough :/ left the store empty handed after waiting for an hour for the store to open.
