    • Available online as well, if you have a store nearby with click and collect. Just got a 10.5" wifi model for $299 for collect from Kotara NSW.

  • +3

I got a feeling a lot of this was a marketing stunt by Dick

    • Pretty much, get traffic in the door.

  • +1

    Nothing in Burwood NSW

  • +2

They are not prepared. They still have a stack of sale tags on the counter.
Grab what u want and scan it.

Sent my girlfriend off to fight a war she didn't sign up for while I'm at work. No picks so far.

Anyone have any info on clearence shavers, blenders, or fans?

    • I love it!

      • update:

gf got her heart set on finding a 60" TV and came home with nothing but a horrible case of PTSDeal

        0/10 would not recommend

    • At least she'll get the Sales guys attention over anyone else. :)

  • +1

Got a White Note 4 (may be VF-branded) for $509.40 at Westfield Woden + TRS next week, wooh! Also picked up a digital photo frame for $10 and Just Dance 2014 for $5. Pretty happy with my early morning shopping.

    • I got the same note 4 for my Mrs yesterday. It's a great price for aus stock… That I could see anyway.

      • Yeah definitely! I'd almost given up on getting a white aus stock Note 4.

    • Don't think you had any competition on Just Dance - I saw it in the clearance bin yesterday morning :) Nice to see someone who actually wanted it buy it. I did briefly consider buying it for trade at EB.

      • +1

Well, I didn't really want it.. It was just staring at me at the counter hahaha.

  • Any news from Warringah Mall DS and DJ DS? :)

    • +1

Didn't go to djs but went into the ds store this morn.. They had nothing really…a couple of ds tvs still but nothing worth the trip

      • Thank you sir!

  • Anywhere in Melbourne still have PS vitas?

    • Highpoint had it yesterday for 100$

  • +3

    Reporting from duty SIR

    Eastgarden:
don't worry bout it. Nothing good left

    No camera
    Couple floor laptops 399-900ish
Couple of oppo mobiles, spot find 7, mirror5
2 galaxy note edge 64, presumably both black 700 ish
    Ps3 xbox360 games
    No headphones

    9.05am stock item

    • Price for the Mirror5?

  • Anything in Altona North?

  • Well, I don't know why I was expecting to find anything good…
Seems the prices were inflated prior to the sale price.?
Staff must have bought the clearance item because all the ozbargainers in front of me looking through the price list walked away dissapointed too.

Good luck to those who find something good.

Good luck to DS the shop, and I can hear the sighs of DS the person as another Australian retailer sinks.

  • That would be Vic- Altona north😕
Wondering if I should bother dragging my one year old twins for the joy ride?

  • +16

Dodgiest staff ever at dick smith today.
Went in at 9am, asked about price for original (old) ue boom, not even on special? So much for audio sale.
Then called up the same store and asked if they have any old ue booms, they said no stock (i just saw 5 in the store???)
Then asked for price on coolpix s7000 and heard manager in the background say "tell him its 299"

No wonder they are closing down

    • man…

    • +9

I cannot comment on the S7000 but the UE Boom (1st gen) has been out of stock for months. The distribution centre has not received any for like 6 months. Do you have a picture of those 5 units you saw? Werent they UE Boom 2?

It's sad to see people commenting here "DS staff is taking everything" when we receive calls from you guys asking "Do you have this or this or this in stock? How many do you have? Ok I will take them all" and then see them dumped on eBay or Gumtree. Secondly, we are not allowed to get clearance items until Monday (even at full price!). Now, maybe some staff tried their luck, but I don't know anyone who did.

Remember, whatever question you asked that staff member, he probably answered it well over 100 times since Tuesday.

      • +4

Can confirm staff did make purchases, not that I'm against that - just wanted to point that out.

      • Okay, ill admit 5 was an exaggeration. I think there were 3 there and i even confirmed that they were the original UE booms (plus i have one so i know what they look like). Shouldnt they be on sale? Seeing as they are old stock. They were definitely original UE boom.
Could you check what the price should be today for original UE boom?

        • You do realise that the new UE Boom 2 only changes a few small things like waterproofing, which you would not be able to see without actually handling them.

Pretty sure no one at all stocks the original anymore, I have been looking, seems only place these days to get one is on Gumtree.

Sure they could be them, but I highly doubt it (like 98% sure).

        • @Betabotx:
I am absolutely, 100% positive that it was the original UE boom.
The new ones are a different colour scheme.
Plus, it was confirmed by staff member that it is indeed original UE boom

        • @puztin:

Very weird, but if they are then they should be on sale, cause they are the definition of old stock.

Might want to go back and check with another sales person. Or get them scanned at the very least.

May I ask which city this is in?

        • @Betabotx:

This is regional victoria, in Geelong.
Yeah i know which is why i found it so strange.
Especially after i called and they said that they had none, when 10 mins before i was looking at them with my own eyes.

        • @puztin:

Well only thing left is to go back and double check if they are still there, probably noticed their error and sold them off.

    • S7000 was $99 at Macquarie. I picked up one but put it away.

      • +1

Man…so dodgy. I even asked them to double check on the computer. Straight out lying to customers is just wrong

    • I checked the s7000 at a store yesterday it was indeed $299

    • S7000 wasn't marked down in my locak DSE yesterday either, not as S9500 or S9900, all display model full of grease, not getting any.
got a S6800 for $49, was told brand new in box, but turned out to be an exdisplay with a few scrachy on the screen, still happy about it as a spare in pocket camera

  • Anyone seen deals in security camera, namely the uniden guardian series?

  • +1

Warrawong has a good amount of boxed and off display printers. All less than $50.

    • Yeah they do and the staff there were great.

  • Philips Sound Bar HTL2101A/79 for $30 - display models but when I brought the box to the counter they were missing all cables (including power)

    • +1

Hidden somewhere in the store room I guess.

    • Pretty sure I have one of these, they're awful.

  • Swann DVR8-3425 Digital Video Recorder and 8 Cameras $800 at Macquarie (No bargains here)

  • Judging by the recent comments seems like there isn't much point going down to DS again today for TVs or headphones. Yesterday they said they only have one small TV on clearance.

  • The headphones selection sucks. Just discounts on the cheapest ones.

  • Anyone see oppo find7 in sydney? Is oppo R7 on sale as well?

    • +1

      At 9am

      Eastgardens has them. Saw 2-3

      • Thanks, will call to reserve one, if they allow.

    • +1

No sales prices on any of the oppo stock at George St city store.

  • +2

Just left broad meadows DS. nothing of note TV wise all tv's on the pricelists in the other post sold. was a bluraydvr for 49 and a 4 tb he for 99. but other than that a waste of my time.

my fiance checked the North land store and same deal… nothing.

    anyone snag anything today?

    • -1

      "4 tb he for 99" ????

      4tb WD?
      4tb ????

      HDD's on special????

      THX!

      • Sorry typo. 4 TB HD. Cant remember brand.

        • Ahhh cool!! Thx!

        • So much info missing, its hardly worth posting.
Portable HDD or Desk HDD or Barebones HDD, Brand?

I just looked through all the DS Deck and Portable hard drive offerings, no 4TB amongst them that i could see, nor could the Sale Rep.

  • Polar Loop fitness tracker - $50 down from $179. 6 left at the DSE under MYER in Sydney.

    • Any other deals there mate?

      • Didn't really look. A few headphones scanned in at mostly full price. Some clearance PVRs that people had in their hands and a Philips movie box thing (where you can plug an SD Card/USB to watch films on your TV) a feature that most modern TVs already have in-built.

  • +1

    Yeah…$5.00 eneloops

  • +5

Maybe the real deal was the low share value. PLOT TWIST?

    • lol, that's what people said about Clive Peeters shares 5 years ago. Didn't work out so good for them!

      • Or buy it when it was like 0.28, put in a few million bucks, sell it now = value LOL

        • Anchorage a-hole already quit after putting their $10m for over $500m, now DSE is a bad debt, in this case, wait till this weekends for real 'must go' sales

      • +1

        Clive Peeters

        E…e…easy

  • +1

    LG 65LB7500 65" for $930 a good deal?

  • Does anyone have a list of the dvrs on clearance?

    • See day 2 post

  • +2

Canberra Civic store - most of what is left on clearance is various different laptops. Nothing seemed like exceptional value but if you are in the market, maybe.

  • +5

Not worth going to DS Glen waverly or Springvale. Only thing on sale is DSE branded products that too not worth buying. No legit deals (profanity)DSE, What a waste of Thursday morning.

    • Just curious, have you found any cheap security stuff left? Also any PS4 game left as I may go there a little bit later :) Also the PS Vita as well ~

      • +1

Naah mate, The only security stuff on sale was Dick branded door alarm and sensors. I was also after a good IP camera but no bargain. Most of games I saw on sale were for XBOX360 AND PS3 for $10

        • Thanks a lot for the update :) I better skip the trip after work then~~

      • +1

All Ps4 games $20, maybe 7 or so in store on point cook

        • Thanks mate, but I live in the eastern suburb so I better pass the point cook one :) Cheers

    • Yes DS springvale i suspect the sales guy took all the goods. Obviously there is stock but their system says no more stock. Well customers can't see the system only the sales.

    • +1

thanks for that saves me a trip

  • +1

Had a look this morning in Prahran. Nothing of interest apart from that $299 PS4 deal, but already have one so oh well. Where are all the deals ?

    • Did you notice if they had any Xbox One controllers left?

      • +1

        Didn't notice sorry

        • no worries, thanks ;)

  • +1

marketown guy and gal were doing there best to get tickets out whilst fielding multiple how much is this questions. i reckon it would be best if they opened at 10 and had an extra hour each morning to put prices out. imo

still have the 65in LG for $919 down from $2300. if only the minister for war and finance….

    • Where at? I'll buy it

      • +6

        Probably at Marketown?

      • marketown newcastle

lady in front of me grabbed a 65 dse model for $200. none left though

    • Any PVR there?

  • Nothing in my local Dick Smith (regional). When I asked last night they had a "heap" of different model ipads in stock, but at full price only. Funnily enough they had none when they opened this morning. Oh well, I don't begrudge them the bargains (but maybe a bit more subtlety would have been nice).

Was actually looking for a moderately decent sound bar or plate. They had one on display (last in stock, no box) for a price higher than their online price for new. When asked they refused to go any lower in price.

    • Which regional store?

  • +1

Pakenham has 3 x Logitech remotes left

  • Got a Changhong 40" Full HD TV from Epping for $119.70 with no remote. Ex display model it seems to be. Nothing else there really.
