Anyone know where to get a Samsung Tab S 10.5 screen replacement for less than $300 ?

Sat on mine the other day and the cheapest screen replacement I can find is $310. $299 for a brand new device is a bargain.

  • Just bought a Samsung Tab S 10.5 for $299 at DSE Kotara. More available in stock despite the online store showing no stock available at Kotara.

  • I managed to get tabs 8.4 ex display.started using it and can notice like a static text always aliasing at the bottom of the screen. Not sure if it's a screen issue or some settings need changing. If u guys have any idea then list ms know

    • Screen burn, OMLED is like plasma, displayed static image too long.

This and battery continually discharging and recharging is why I wouldn't touch a display model, even at this price.

Dick Smith Mirrabooka WA still have one new Tab S 10.5 ticketed $299 and 1 display set. as 8pm today. One display Nexus 2 7" 32GB for $99. In case anyone interested.

  • Guys, try to ask those MOVE stores which are also under DSE clearance prices. One helpful DSE staff told me they had 5 tab s 10.5" in stock at MOVE store.

    • They don't care what DSE clearance price is. They are separate business holding.

      • No their prices are the same as DSE just like DJ. The DSE staff showed me on its screen.
edit: those in WA dont mind display tab s 10.5" i saw one at Morley and 1 at Cockburn. Best ring before you go the staff are nice and will hold for you.

  • It's very funny. I went to the Toombul store this morning. I wanted to buy iphone 5c. The staff told me it's sold out. But they have both Sumsung tab 10.5 and 8.4 on special $149 and $299. I didn't take it.

  • Dick Smith's go-for-broke stock clearance sale kicks off

    Catie Low
    Published: December 4, 2015 - 4:09PM

Dick Smith fired the starter's gun on its latest round of desperate discounting on Friday as part of its quest to clear inventory after its shock stock write-down this week.

The massive sale, with discounts of up to 70 per cent off televisions and gaming accessories, comes amid talk nervous stockists are already tightening supply agreements.

High-profile electronics brands such as Panasonic and Acer are believed to be carefully watching the stock clearance sale, with some insiders suggesting they have already taken steps to limit their exposure to Dick Smith's troubles.

Poor stock management forced Dick Smith to write off $60 million of inventory or 20 per cent of its stock against its first-half accounts this week, and ratchet up discounting online and in store.

Dick Smith revealed the sale will run for as long as it takes to clear stock, and analysts claim the discounting is likely to suck in competitors such as JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman and force them to price match on popular brands like Apple and Fitbit.

Billionaire Harvey Norman founder Gerry Harvey said the Dick Smith business model was flawed and there should be an investigation into private equity's role in its $520 million float after Woolworths sold it for just $94 million.

"I think it's going to go broke. I think it was broke once and it's going again," Mr Harvey said.

He said some stockists were cutting supply and if a product was not in stock, Dick Smith was unlikely to be able to get it unless it was willing to pay cash.

As Dick Smith's share price hurtled south this week falling out of the ASX200, one senior Woolworths insider is believed to have said "Woolworths always knew it wasn't a great business".

Morgan Stanley retail analyst Tom Kierath said the Dick Smith sale was likely to draw other electronics and appliance retailers into a pre-Christmas price war, particularly for popular consumer tech items.

"Retailers do get caught with too much stock from time to time and I think Dick Smith will get through this, but there will probably be some changes in their inventory management," Mr Keirath said.

Retail consultant Stephen Kulmar said the size of the write-off, which he said was equivalent to at least $100 million in retail sales, suggested the inventory mismanagement could date back as far as 12 months.

"To me, this says they have problems with their core information systems," Mr Kulmar said.

"They have a problem with their point of sale, they are not collecting data and they don't know what's selling and what's not selling."

He said Dick Smith's inventory problems would be a big concern for suppliers, many of whom would have already tightened up their agreements in a bid to limit any financial damage.

"A lot of suppliers would be very nervous. And they will start to withhold supply, particularly if the sale doesn't work as well as hoped."

It would be difficult to get any read on the effect of this latest round of price cutting until well into the new year because Dick Smith's sales would also get a lift from Christmas shopping and the traditional new-year sales period, Mr Kulmar said.

"Dick Smith is operating in a highly competitive marketplace … I guess the question is, is there room for a fourth national chain."

I remember when Dick Smith was my favorite store. They were the first to introduce online in store stock checking and use to have a no questions asked return policy. Now, they are the worst.

Should I be surprised that DSE accepted my click and collect order, took my money, then told me they sold the tablet to someone else when I turned up to collect? Absolute disgrace.

    • Exactly the same thing happened to me. "We sold that this morning", even though I ordered & paid for it 3 days ago. They never answered the phone, turns out they keep it in the store room so they don't have to hear it ringing.

  • Purchased Samsung tab s 10.5 at Knox on Thursday they still had one left, went past Glen Waverley store today they had 8.4 display one for $149, 2x Samsung tab s 10.5 WiFi and 1x 10.5 4g one $379. Don't bother ring up just walk in guys!

    • Displays aren't worth it imo.

  • My Final whinge about DS aka Tricky Dicky..
I had to go to Cranbourne for an appointment next door to DS so I popped in to have a look at the JVC 65in which was on special all the TV on display were playing a loop video which was a new age fade in fade out psychedelic commercial which never showed a clear picture.
I asked the salesman where is the JVC he said they have never stocked that brand in this store and as far as he knew not in other stores .
I advised that they advertised it on the Ozbargins list as available for CC and that I know it had expired but wanted to see how good it was.
He said head office do this all the time advertising and selling items for CC when the stores dont have them and he apologised.
OK I said … can you put on a DVD or can I bring in my own source to see how the DSE 65in shaped up.
He advised that they cannot load anything on as HO had locked the TV source and this crazy commercial was all they could show they did not even have the ability to show TV channels.
I was amazed and said it makes all the TV look real bad.
He agreed and said he was sick of HO making it so hard and that they didnt have to face upset customers, he referred me to Goodguys if I want to see different video sources.
Anyone want to run a book on how long DSE will be in business before going into liquidation .. my bet is 6 months.

    • My bet is March.

  • Anyone has both Tab S and Nexus 7 (2013)? I bought both display models from DSE and compared them after upgrading Nexus to Marshmallow. With Tab S 3GB RAM 1.8GB has already been used to run bloat wares leaving only 1.2GB free. Nexus 7 has only 2GB RAM but only 600MB used to run those "background " apps leaves 1.4GB free. Everything on Nexus 7 runs smoother than the Tab S.

    • I'll buy the S off you if it's the 8.4 one…

Edit: Noticed display model. No thanks sorry.

  • very good price
    unfortunately missed

  • Ordered online click collect thur morning. Status says awaiting fulfilment. Should I be preparing myself to be fighting for a refund ?

    • +1

      always prepare for the worse

    • Won't happen. Start chasing up the refund now. The useless idiots at the store aren't going to do anything unless you make them. Also, who know when they'll go into receivership.

    • Paypal dispute time mate.

      • Ghey!so dick smith called me – I knew it bad news.

girl told me the tablet they have for me has got screen burn so unable to sell to me… wouldn’t one assume when ordering online means you are not after a display or used one.

Anyways told me refund will take up to 5 business days.

        • Both the ones I ordered are have been cancelled too. Sold them to someone else (I'm guessing staff took them).

  • Has anyone found a good case for the Samsung tab S 10.5?

    • Original Samsung Tab S case with rear clips that attach directly to device (or good clone from ebay) works best with this device. Check Samsung site then search ebay for similar at significantly cheaper price. Got mine from German ebay site for just under Au$20 shipped.
