Hello my Ozbargain friends. I have devised this deal to get 5tb Western-Digital-WD-Elements for $206.10 delivered or $198.53 delivered after 3.3% cashrewards cashback. It's not as good as the harvey norman deal from a month ago but it's the best deal out there for a WD right now.

  • wht was harvey norman deal month ago?

  • Could it be Reds inside?

    • I hope so.

Both of mine from HN were greens… :(
Oh well, still better than buying a Seagate.

      • I got one from HN in that deal last a month ago and it was a Red. :)

I've found very good life even with the greens. F*** Seagate.

My last Seagate just died. I need a new one. Is WD better than Seagate?

        • +1

You will see the opposite side of story when someone post a Seagate deal.

        • +1

Not always. It can depend on the model, different sizes within that model can range from good to bad, even the year/factory. The 4tb seagates (ST4000DM000) seem to be well regarded but the 3TB seagates (ST3000DM001) seem almost guaranteed to fail.

Probably the best large scale test is the by the data storage farm company Backblaze (https://www.backblaze.com/blog/best-hard-drive/)

If you want the best reliability you might be better off finding a Hitachi/HGST deskstar and buying your own usb 3.0 enclosure/nas.

  • Is the drive removable? I'm in need of a new large internal drive

    • i'm pretty sure all 3.5" portable drives are removable.. worse case the case needs to be broken to gain access to the SATA desktop hard drive inside.

Only 2.5" portable drives have had their sata connecters replaced with USB to reduce cost and size.

  • Brought 4 drives. Damn fast delivery.
    ALL 4 drives were greens… -_-

However I have been running 3tb greens in my N40L NAS for ~ 2.5 years without issue.

    Still happy, good price.

    • I bought mine moments before I posted this deal and you got yours today? Lol I didn't get mine and shipping status only says info received by auspost.

What do you need 20tb for?
