FREE Microsoft Continuum Dock for Owners of Lumia 950 & 950XL Purchased from Nov 10 ($149 Value)

1480

Microsoft is offering Australian owners of the Lumia 950 & Lumia 950 XL a free Display Dock accessory. The offer is open to anyone who purchased a Lumia 950 or 950 XL from November 10, 2015 to February 29, 2016. Promotional codes can be redeemed through March 31, 2016.

The Microsoft Display Dock allows connection to a keyboard, mouse, and large display, allowing you to use your phone like a PC. This is done through Windows 10 Mobile's new Continuum feature. The dock has three USB ports, a USB-C port and charging connector, along with DisplayPort & HDMI connections.

Valid only on original purchases made from authorised retailers in Australia.

Steps to claim the display dock (thanks to IceCreamBandit)

  • To start the claim process, go to the "Lumia Offers" app on your device. If through hard resets you've lost the app, this link should be the direct Microsoft Store link to get the app back.

  • Once in the app, tap Check for Offers or something along those lines and there should be a prompt to accept the T&C to receive Microsoft emails and stuff. Accept and you'll see the Display Dock offer.

  • Using your Microsoft Account email address (should already be filled in if your phone is signed in), press next and you should receive an email with a code and further instructions.

  • With your unique promotion code, go to http://microsoftdisplaydock.com.au/ and enter your code. Then enter your personal details (email address must be the same as the Microsoft Account email address on the device where you started the claim) and finish the process and you should receive a Confirmation email.

Great offer. Should put this in the description.

Valid only on original purchases made from authorised retailers in Australia

    • would be interesting to know who the authorised retailers are….hopefully its not just Harvey Norman

        • +1

If you can't see the use of it, then it probably isn't targeted at someone like you.

    • Added. Thanks.

    Thanks TA!

I bought a 950XL through this deal and was able to get the Display Dock.

To my understanding "authorised retailers" should be anyone selling Australian local stock e.g. Optus, Virgin, Harvey Norman, Telstra (when they finally get it) and not "grey imports" from Kogan and the like.

Sorry for the long comment but I hope this helps :)

Edit: Should also mention Microsoft have quoted the Dock should be shipped in 6-8 weeks.

Edit 2: If you're missing your confirmation email, check your spam/junk folder. That is where mine ended up. The initial email with the code came through to the inbox just fine though.

Gee, you've done well. An XB1 bundle, and a dock!

      • +2

Haha yeah…the phone was too expensive to buy outright, and the Optus bundle made things more affordable as a friend was after an XB1 around the same time so things worked out pretty well!

    • Thanks for the info…but that is a terribly convoluted way of running this offer on MS's part.

      • +1

Having to use the app on said phone, all but eliminates people who bought, kept/copied receipt and returned etc. I doubt many if any would do that but I guess that's one thought, along with promoting the actual app (which from my experience doesn't even show up in the store search).

        • They could just stipulate that you use the same MS account that you used to sign into the phone.

    • Just processed mine, must be impatient, didn't get my code the first time so i tried again, got the code and haven't received my confirmation from the offers page,
just received my second request for my code though, lol
Server must be under a bit of stress.

how long did your confirmation email take?

      • how long did your confirmation email take?

Probably 5 minutes? Maybe less because it was in my junk folder at first so I didn't know. Things might be a touch slower now as more people know about the offer and are trying to claim.

        • thanks man,
been over 40mins now and no confirmation, i need to find something better to do with my time :D
when i go to the offers page it states my code is not valid, so they defiantly got my application the first time.

        • @xn1337:

Mine took 20 minutes. Have you received yours yet?

        • @Neatoboy: Nothing yet :|

        • @xn1337:

          Check your JUNK MAIL.

        • @sickent: Thanks but no email at all, contacted Microsoft and they said wait 48 hours or so for the order to show up on my account, at this stage i will probably never receive a confirmation, there may be a backlog that someone has to fix,

          But since i get:
"The information you have entered is invalid. Please check the details are correct and try again."
It means the code has been used.

I still have the page up that states:
"Thank you, you have successfully submitted your claim. You will receive a confirmation email shortly."
So it should definitely be me.

While on the phone i tried to get the code resent from the lumia app again and it states its been sent but took 1 hour to arrive in my gmail.

PS: Junkmail and SPAM are empty, all Microsoft emails are filtered into "Label" (its a folder GMAIL!)
I thank you for your concern with my junk mail, i have been using gmail since the Invite only times of 2004, but for any one else, check your SPAM Label if your using Gmail.

Thanks TA, just bought the 950XL for $960 through Optus a few days ago (unlocked, no Optus branding), so this is a very nice bonus.

    • +3

Show me a wireless standard with the stability and bw of hardwires :D

    • +4

It this dock does have USB, HDMI, and Ethernet ports. Kinda can't make that wireless just yet with reliability and speed.

    • The point of a product like this is to just carry around the phone and the dock. Not a whole heap of bluetooth devices. In this scenario you are taking your phone and dock to an office, etc that has the screen and peripherals available.

  • +1

Woooo, thank you! I forgot to keep checking the Lumia Offers app.

If the reviews proved accurate, maybe some of us would have listened:

      • You can use continuum with out the display dock
      • The software was in beta when reviewed, since then we have had 2 updates and a firmware update (not including the fast insider ring)
      • The phones back panel comes off (allowing for SD card and removable battery) which can be replaced with some excellent kit

Yes, the apps can be an issue for people that have all these apps they use on iOS or android. But, that is something most are aware of, and many of us are happy with the OS and integration windows phone offers.

Not to mention I've scored a free Xbox one and now a free display dock out of this.

** I've used windows phone since 7, iPhones since 3 and android since the 1st generation Samsung galaxy. I've had the good, bad and ugly from all 3 and prefer windows phone**

    • +2

lol…you use CNET for tech reviews? There's your problem :)

Good to see microsoft looking after the early adopters. Thanks OP!

  • Clicking on Get the App link is not working for me. Am I doing something wrong?

  • great spot, I think Continuum is a really good idea. I like Windows Phone. I'd like to get on board but the app gap is preventing me. The fact my bank doesn't have a WP app is a deal breaker for me

    • Which bank are you wishing to use an app on Windows phone for?

TA, you even post bargain deal over the Xmas and new year, I salute you…

  • Everyone waiting for confirmation emails make sure you check junk mail. Mine was there.

  • Received mine yesterday! Thanks again TA :)
