  • already posted here . https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/228003 . found it when I search for the model.

anyone know if its a good model, or is it lacking in some vital feature?

    • +1

It's lacking a few features of the higher models-it's Sony's entry-level 4k TV. 50Hz is one of the main disadvantages, but if you don't watch too much sport, it's a great TV.

      • thanks.

From personal experience, don't bother to buy 50HZ, especially on 40" or greater.

    • thanks.

      • If you are looking to buy, my advise is:
        1. Pick a size that suits your distance viewing.
        2. Get a min. 100 HZ
        3. Get with Smart TV feature
        4. No need 3D. As more likely - you don't need/use 3D feature, so it will save your cost.
        5. Brand preference: I have Sony and Samsung with similar spec. I prefer Sony on picture quality and you default setting it is good enough.
On Samsung, I have to play around with manual setting in getting natural picture.

Option: buy in Costco, because more likely they offer decent price in TV - not to mention their refund policy.

        G luck.

        • Is smart feature neccessary? I've been out of the game for too long, and i can't seem to find that many 'dumb' TVs around
          I've got a chromecast/ ps3 + free plex/ and the Altech TV recorder.

  • Forgot to add this Television is eligible for the Sony Summer deals. Which includes 6 months subscription to Presto.

  • The 49" 8300c 100Hz and is a frame lit screen and also has voice control.
The 49"8000c is 50Hz but it has a backlit screen.
