      Standard.

    • These exclusions weren't there when I checked first. Coupon still applies to Chromecast unless they cancel the orders.

    • +2

Dick Smith shares are going down

You mean Woolworths. Its all about turnover. Trade is generally quite in a normal store on a normal day.

        $10 x 100,000 > $40 x 10,000

        • +1

Well, its good to see that should be the last exclusion list we see. Its quite gorgeous isn't? oh the evolution of the exclusion list will prob get its on straight-to-dvd-release or telemovie one day, immortalised in the great DSE fall of 2016….

    • Dick Smith receivers say gift vouchers and deposits will not be honoured

    Please read this before purchasing.

Dick Smith's shares have ceased trading it looks like they will be going under very soon. Use up any gift cards you have in store today before they become worthless.

  • +15

Don't order online as you might never see the product or your money again lol (voucher?). I'd suggest going into a store and picking the stuff up:

It's an online only sale as per the website ONE DAY ONLINE ONLY

Dick Smith just released an announcement on the ASX that it has gone into Voluntary Administration.

      • +2
        • Does this mean go to store and get stuff for %50 OFF ?

        • @alz: Don't see why you can't try your luck. A sale is a sale to them. I mean, they won't have a job soon so it's no skin of the salesperson's nose what price he/she sells anything for.

        • +5

          @Firey1989:

I am now looking forwards to a liquidation sale. :)

        • +20

@googleyahoo69: The staff will just tell you its out of stock so they can buy it

        • @Firey1989:

Oh well. They will loose their job soon. I pity them. Nothing much "good" stuff left since the previous firesale… all DSLRs are gone… doubt there are any consoles sitting around…

        • +1

          @Firey1989:

Yeah well I guess it didn't end up too well for them playing this game. End up with a bunch irate customers. who wont come to the store as often = they loose their jobs.

I'm sure the staff would have to Dick Smith regardless of the bargains to be had.

        • @googleyahoo69: Yep but be smart and beat the crowd! http://imgur.com/HB3XpfJ

        • +4

Back to back comments saying people "loose" their job. What are the chances?

        • @hellno: Well spotted

        • @Firey1989: well, the sale is not so good ….so why try your luck for mediocre deals ?

    • +2

I ordered the Ipad air 2 128gb cellular which never turn up, even though I ordered quite early and it showing in stock. After 4 weeks, I called and asked( 3 phone calls-total of ~3 hrs spent), they promised I can do click and collect. Which never happened. Finally, I got sick of it and file a dispute with Paypal, still no respond from them. Hopefully, I get my money back on the 7/1/15!

      • Yea… I can so imagine eBay and Paypal are running around freezing funds in Dick's account.

Remember walking into the city store in mid December, and there weren't much left.

Any tips on where to get a colour laser printer with scanner at a cheap good price?

  • +6

Wouldn't pre-pay for any products online. Go in store and buy directly.

    • Agreed. I wouldn't consider any online sale or preorder a 'deal' from Dick Smith at the moment. If you can walk in store and get it, sure.

  • -5

Excludes what i'm in the market for i.e. Acer & HP laptops. FFS DS FCK OFF!

    • +1

      Patience….

    • Consider yourself lucky, if those items you wants included, you will thrown your money down the drain.

  • +10

Awesome, just bought some $1000 DSE gift cards

    • what happens to the gift card if ds bankrupt?

      • +12

It's up to the administrators, but they're not compelled to honour the gift cards. People with gift cards just end up in the list of people the company owes money to, and in the scheme of things they're low priority. I would use the gift cards ASAP and buy something which is easy to resell if you're interested in a cash return.

        • +5

          Naturally I'm kidding

        • +3

Those with Gift cards are unsecured creditors - at the end of the queue if DS goes under.

Other store gift cards have been worthless in previous closures.

Of course funding may be arranged & DS may trade well into the future.

But best to use up any gift cards asap.

        • So I take it Dick gift cards can't be used elsewhere?

        • According to the latest, they've 'appointed Ferrier Hodgson as receiver' … 'Ferrier Hodgson said it would not honour outstanding gift vouchers or refund deposits paid for goods.'

          http://www.smh.com.au/business/retail/dick-smith-goes-into-v…

      • +3

Dick is bankrupt. If you have the gift card run to their store now, buys something worthy.

    • +1

In lieu of anything else, that's a lot of Eneloops…

    • you forget to include the /sarcasm tag.

      • +5

Lol, was hoping i didnt need it!

        • Clarky… I bet there are people who are buying DSE gift cards, right now.. Thus the reason people took your comment for real ! :-)

        • +1

          @xywolap: gee I hope not!

        • @clarky:
LOL… and the same people vote and drive on our roads! :-(

    • +1

you'll lose 100% of what is un-spent once they declare bankruptcy.
Good luck finding something to spend them on….maybe itunes credit ?

  • +10

Now that the company is under administration you'd have to be crazy to buy anything from them online.

    • +1

If you pay by credit card then you are protected by your bank, but you may need to wait a couple of months.

The problem is once a business has lost the confidence of suppliers and/or customers they are doomed. You cannot buy product on credit and customers will only buy name brand products at discounted prices.

  • +6

And they are now in Voluntary Administration

    http://www.asx.com.au/asxpdf/20160105/pdf/4346lly4rnwjc1.pdf

Now to wait for the fire sale…

    • If you have gift cards use them ASAP!!!

  • I bet tomorrow will be a good time to line up at DSE. LOL. Or maybe this afternoon?

    FIRE SALE!

    • +5

The staff will have more reason to hoard up all the good deals, since now that they may lost their jobs. Consider that as their severance pays. So good luck lining up at Dick stores.

      • +3

Doubt there's much to hoard, considering a lot of the high value goods were sold out in Dec.

  • +1

Woolworths was smart enough to offload most soon-to-be worthless Physical Dick Smith Gift Cards to Ozbargainers.

Coles probably asked DS to pay by credit vouchers so they offloaded that to Ozbargainers as well.

Now who said companies don't have insider information and can't take advantage of it……

    • +4

I'd be surprised if woolworths pays dick smith anything until a gift card is actually purchased.

      • You will be surprised how desperate DS was in the last few weeks trying to grab any money possible.

      • +1

Gift cards have no value or cost to Woolworths (beyond cost to put on display) until card is sold.

    • LOL at insider information - this is taken from the 'DSE Trading Update' released 28th October 2015

      'conservative outlook going forward'
October's traffic lost immensely (sales down)
impact was enough that changes were required through Nov and Dec
taken action in the business (more advertising in TV & Radio)
'daily deals' were to actually get people in the door, to increase earnings
change of guidance to a frequent sales, in order to keep market share (so selling things almost at cost)
driving 'harder' to sell stuff pre-Christmas (hence multiple sales) which sees a big change to profit
drive the inventory to cash (so selling stuff) increase based on last year (basically cashing up for creditors)

this resulted in the share price halving over the next 3 days, so the investors clearly knew that DSE was failing fast
after which (start of December 15) three of the major entities holding shares sold out, resulting in another 50% drop

this isn't new news, investors have known about this for a while now (and some have dubbed the pre-Christmas sales as a closing down sale)

  • +5

This isn't a deal, this is weekly Dick price cycle just like petrol petrol prices. Also I wonder why people are so scared to vote down rubbish deal, sorry OP nothing personal. Maybe you guys feared retaliation from the sock-puppets?

Edit. Never mind it's seems they are going under.

    • +7

LOL… I wouldn't put my money into an online order even if it's 50% off sale now…

  • thanks op, was waiting for another chromecast

  • +1

No way anyone should be buying from DSE right now..

    • -1

      Will manufacturer warranty just disappear?

      • +1

        Manufacturer warranty will be honoured.

        • -2

          My comment was sarcastic

      • No, but your item may never even show up..

  • +5

Use coupon code VOLADMIN to get 60% off all Dick Smith gift cards. Just wait by the letterbox because they'll be mailed straight out.

    • They'll probably exclude everything anyway so no use :)

  • Anyone shopped in their physical stores this morning? Any signs of a liquidation sale?

I went to the Adelaide city store yesterday and everything was slas per usual.

    • +3

There won't be any liquidation sale. All the stocks, assets etc now belongs to the 'Administrators' who will ask potential retailers to buy stock in bulk. BigW, JB, HN, Officeworks probably already lined up to grab the 1st-graded bargains. Then Graysonline etc will get some 2nd grade stocks at really low price.

  • -1

I doubt anything you buy will get picked up by the courier now they'll be fearing getting paid. Wait for in store clearances. Anyone these sales usually bring things down to JB normal prices anyways

  • +1

16 AA eneloops for $40.14 isn't so bad… (Sanyo not Panasonic - but $2.51 an eneloop)

    2x http://www.dicksmith.com.au/eneloop-tones-rouge-8-x-aa-recha…
    $10 discount

Also - those people worried about not getting their order because DSE is going to go broke any minute now -
    pay with PayPal,
then if you never get it dispute your PayPaltransaction ;)

  • +1

I did a click and collect last night but paid with PayPal so I figure I'm covered if I can't pick up ?

    • Yep, but see how it goes first with your order, sometimes it's still go through. If not, just lodge in a dispute in Paypal.

    • -2

I doubt you can pick up now. All the stocks now go into administration. Nobody can touch anything now. Accountant and auditors will come in now.

      • Then all the stores would be closed immediately. You're wrong.

      • Its the shares that are not trading, the stores & online business are trading. That's what the administrators say they will try to sell.
        And the cycle repeats ;-(

  • +5
    • scary insight. Thanks for sharing.

  • +1

I'm just concerned that without DS having 10% Apple sales every second month there would be no incentive for JB to follow suit. There goes my discounted Apple products…

    • +4

Time to switch to Samsung for more competitive pricing and price-matching possibilities.

      • Alas, I do not like Samsung products.

  • +2

    Its' all gotta go.
    (we aren't kidding around anymore)

    Make an offer…

    Please! lol

  • +7

    When a business goes bust

    Consumers as unsecured creditors
You will be affected by the appointment of an external administrator and may become an 'unsecured creditor' if you have:

    · paid in full for goods or services to be collected or delivered later
    · paid a deposit, such as in a lay-by agreement or interest-free offer
    · bought a gift card or voucher and have not used it
    · returned a product and been issued a credit note.

Buying online or having DS Gift Cards is a risk. DS may not fail, but administrators may not honour any debts to customers.

    • +3

      Thanks for this excellent information,

      another reason I love Ozbargain.

      Bravo!

      • The ACCC is a handy source of consumer information everyone should know about.

        • -3

In fact in recent years the ACCC phoneline has routinely been issuing false information based on the staff's inside knowledge they do nothing about consumer protections anymore. What's written may in part be true but much of it is incorrect.

For example the ACCC assert they operate a complaints procedure - they don't. You will recive a receipt and then it dissapears. You can ring, you can write, but nothing will happen to the complaint in writing even when they verbally admit it was justified.
The accc are in administrative terms totally corupt and today a complete waste of taxpayer funds. Even when they have obtained expensive court orders they routinely decline to enforce them anymore.

        • +1

          @enforcer103:
So the above information from the ACCC on consumer issues in business bankruptcy is not useful??

You seem to misunderstand the role of the ACCC. It rarely deals with individual complaints, unless they are of broad public interest. Look at the terms of its charter before complaining it does not perform a role it is not intended to do.

        • -3

Is literacy a problem for you?

'the ACCC assert they operate a complaints procedure - they don't. You will recive a receipt and then it dissapears. You can ring, you can write, but nothing will happen to the complaint in writing even when they verbally admit it was justified.'

The ACCC OPERATE AN INTERNAL COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE ABOUT THEMSELVES - however wriiten complaints about the ACCC are ignored in writing. Whilst they routinely give any caller deliberately false and incorrect consumer advice, when a wriiten complaint about the accc well dodgy service is made to the ACCC, the ACCC ignore the written complaint submission made to them and only ever verbally admit the ACCC'S deliberate failure, and thus avoid doing anything about it. You can expect a written receipt but never a written response from the Accc through its internal complaints process.

The Board of the ACCC is routinely failing in its duties of governance.

Clearly you have an undisclosed interest in this thread.

        • @enforcer103:
No vested interests, just informed by reading & understanding the roles of the various consumer bodies & the reach of their different roles.

Some people expect the police, government bodies, & other groups to be their personal 'enforcer'. Those groups generally have a different view.

Sorry you can't handle people having different opinions & experiences to yours. But don't make up unfounded allegations about people.

If that's how you lodge a complaint, it may be why it goes nowhere.
