      • so, just call one or two days before offer expired? (installation date + three months less one or two days)

  • No probs

Make sure you download some stuff on demand because you can watch it later on your basic package and won't be able to download it with the new 2 month deal :)

  • +1

Also got offered another 2 months free sports + ent SD package when I called up to cancel today

    • Good news. I was worried when I phoned up to cancel next week they would have stopped the 2 months free package. Thought it might have just been something to keep subscription numbers bumped up at financial year end 30 June.

      • Me too I will have to call to cancel around 20 21 22 July.

    • What did you say your reason for disconnection ?

      • as one of the comments above - they asked what did u watch the most and I said sports (which is the only reason why I would prob want foxtel anyways)..

        • Cheers, called them this arvo and offered Ent + Movies for the next 2 months. Sweet.

  • Anyone know what happens to the Presto subscription once you move off the initial Platinum HD trial?

    • You lose it

  • Be careful, Telstra charged me for Foxtel over that add-on 2 months free, just had to deal with them

  • +1

Just called to cancel, was offered 3 offers to stay (and another member has quoted these offers mentioned):

    • $35/month (ent + another package)
    • $50/month (ent + sport + movies + drama)
    • $99/month (platinum HD)

I said I couldn't justify more than $20/month, and I was kinda hoping they'd come to the party but alas they didn't, so bye bye Foxtel!

Cheers OP, was a good run while it lasted :)

    • Aaaaand just got the email to say no more presto lol

    • So they wouldn't budge on the $35/month (or extend the "trial":P)? I wonder if our friends at Whirlpool have better luck.

Interested to see if you tried to cancel after being on $35/month they might drop the price even further lol.

    • what? you didnt get extended free 2 months for 2 choice of packages? everyone does including me. so i get total 5 months free.
what we want is another extended free offer after the 2 months.

      • I did, I just finished the 5 months :)

what we want is another extended free offer after the 2 months.

Which they didn't offer, they didn't budge from the $35/month (well, didn't offer me the $20 I said I thought it was worth)

        • oh ok ok so thats all .. 5 months with foxtel. not bad.

    • How did you get those deals? I rang about cancelling and all I got offered was free HD reducing my $93 bill to $83… Complained for a good 15 mins but she didn't budge at all…

      • Just what was offered to me on the phone yesterday, I didn't even ask it was just a case of "well, if you want to stick with it, there's some deals on"

  • +1

Read through this (and look at the pretty pictures!) to see what needs to be returned, and what you can keep!

I'd recommend claiming the powerline adapters (I forgot) because you don't need to return them! No need to return the cables (including HDMI) or the remote (which you could probably offload on Facebook or to friends/family)

    • doh didnt asked for the adapter during installation .. hmm would it be possible to call now and say something oh i moved my tv (or moved house???) so i need adapter bla bla bla

      • Yeah I'm sure there's something you could say. Wanting to put the modem at other end of the house and the wifi wasn't strong enough?

  • My free 3 months is up shortly and I think we would just like to keep entertainment plus sports package. Does anyone know if this would be allowed to continue on a month to month basis or would they expect a 12 month contract?

    • You'll get offered that choice for 2 further months for free (down from the full package you have now), and then after the 2 months you should get offered it for $35/month on a 12 month contract

      • Today I was offered a further 2 months free and then $35/mth which I accepted, and there is no contract period. As a bonus I got Drama channels for the next 10 days.

  • so after 3 months free i got another 2 months free. i just started this 2 months free and my first bill is in credit. how come? i dont have other telstra services except $2 simcard prepaid that never been used.

They have credited you part of a month, same happened to me.

  • Which department are you guys going through to get the extra 2 free months? Is it the telstra cancellations department or just the telstra general customer service department? Or are you ringing foxtel?

    • Telstra.

      • The cancellations team at telstra or just general customer service?

  • Please anyone confirm there is no live streams on foxtel for Rio 2016 Olympic. I thought I can watch them on foxtel?

Yes channel 7 has but I though foxtel will have more.

  • Cancelled the trial subscription. Was hard saying no after the 3+2 months trial period and $26/month with no lock-in but can't justify the cost, compared to Kodi.

  • If we cancel, is the already recorded material on the box still viewable until the box is returned?
How long do we get to return the box before the $300 charge is levied?

  • Just about to cancel my free 3 month trial on Monday, hoping to get offered the extra 2 months (just mostly wanting sports). I've read earlier people were getting the 2 packages for free, but had to pay $10 a month for HD.

They'd actually keep me as a customer if they simply just offered to sports package (with HD) for $30 a month. But that will never happen so guess it'll be bye bye FOXTEL soon enough.

  • I called today to cancel. Like others have mentioned they asked what channels I watch. Got extra 2 months free sport + entertainment package without really trying. They also offered that for $35 p/m after the extra 2 months free

    • Is this SD only? I just transitioned to my extra 2 months free of sport but HD is gone. The didn't mention anything about losing HD. Bugger.

      • Pretty sure SD only. Think HD is extra $10 add-on

  • I called today, 132200, tried to get to cancellations department, but they are closed. Have been on 3 months platinum, then tried to cancel, then 2 months of entertainment and movies, now have a $50 bill from Telstra.

I asked to cancel down to free-to-air (which is all we record/watch), the IQ2 box is good as a DVR, I was advised that the cancellations department can help with that tomorrow… Hmmm, I'll have to call again tomorrow to find out what is available. Hopefully $10 a month just to use the box for free-to-view PVR goodness.

I then asked to ditch the movie package as I don't have time to watch any movies, the operator shrewdly suggested I've "paid" up to the end of the month so I she could cancel at the end of the month, or now and my bill would be adjusted, I asked for it to be changed now and I'll live with an adjusted bill :) So, $26 a month now.

Then she said it costs as much as a pack of cigarettes, who does she think I am, the Marlboro man? Maybe I have a cold coming on and sound sick, hmmm.

  • My friend rang Foxtel 2 weeks before 3 months was up, and asked to downgrade to the cheapest package $25. Was gladly accepted by Foxtel. No offer for freebie…. Fall flat on his face :-(( He was too shy to ask for freebie….

  • So basically the maximum months that we can have free Foxtel is 3 months HD + 2 months lesser package ? Has anyone managed to get more free months after the 2 free months end ?

  • Well my 5 months is up today and I don't think I'll really miss it. The only thing I'll miss is catch up NRL (SD is yuck anyway), random classic NRL matches and NRL 360. The rest I can get elsewhere for free or won't miss it.

Fetch TV is coming good, thanks OPTUS.

  • Brought the unit to Aus Post and return shipped. Thanks OP, Telstra and Foxtel. Funny that remote is an optional return, but I still returned it. Can't stomach keeping anything, especially after 5 months of free use.

And yes, bring the unit and the accessories to Post without the box. Post will put it in a big padded bag. Can't believe the items fit in the one bag. You get to keep the AA batteries though, as Post won't accept them.

    • Also don't forget to keep the powerline unit as well ;) Strange that they do allow you to keep the remote and all that, would have thought that would be a requirement.

When my final 2 months run out I'll just give the remote to a mate who has Foxtel so he can have a spare!

  • +1

Mate got a cheque in the mail. Amazing. Telstra made you watch Foxtel for 5 months then hands you a cheque. The company is really doing well. Maybe I'll get one too.

    • scroll up, i got $6.80 credit too maybe that will be refunded! yayyyy 1x future lunch sorted.

  • I cancelled Foxtel today but no information if I have to return the box. How everyone got the instruction ?

    • I got an SMS with a code to show the person serving me at the post office…pretty sure the SMS came a couple of days after I cancelled. I only had to return the main IQ2 box, power cable and remote (though there are some here who have reportedly kept the remote too), and kept everything else, it will most likely be the same for you…if you were given a powerline adapter, you get to keep it..:)

      • You can keep the remote without issue, it's shown on their website what you have to return, although a bit weird that it doesn't include the remote.

        • Would you like to have to clean it so well it was usable by the next recipient?

  • called last night the girl say return remote. i said website https://www.foxtel.com.au/got/support/accounts-billing/equip… doesnt mention remote but she said "not sure but the script i have here say i need to say remote as well"
    funny

  • Called today as my free 3 months is up on Sunday. Got offered the extra 2 months free with the basic + sports pack (I only watch sport anyway). Awesome! Will try and negotiate a good deal in December. If I can get it to $30 a month for HD sport I will continue with it.

    • Gonna be hard, you'll be ~1 month before their Post-Christmas sales

      • Good point. Might cancel and hopefully sign up for the new '3 months free' campaign, since the current one I am on was a delayed start from Dec/Jan promo.

  • I got 3 months free they offered addition 2 months free went to cancel second time and got an addtional 2 months lol

    • You're lucky. I just went to cancel for a second time and they offered entertainment+ with sports for $35. No thanks.

Interestingly she said that they want the remote back and the "cords". I'm keeping the HDMI cable ^^

      • Haha yeh I dont even use it :p

  • For anyone that got the extra 2 months free what does their Foxtel from Telstra account show? Mine shows 'Out of contract'. I know my 2 months is almost up but can't see that anyway in my online account. My last Bill for $0 was generated 16/7/16. Have others kept on receiving $0 bills?
