The Queen has 'concerns' about Prince Charles taking the throne, a new biography claims.

I'm not surprised she has concerns. The main one is probably that she'll be dead.

    • I have concerns about Charles taking the throne, especially since his partner would need a bale of hay to sit by his side.

There were rumours the queen was putting into writing to deny Charles the throne and go to William, she can do that.
William certainly is getting groomed for the position.

      • Can she really? Isn't succession a result of the Succession Act in each of the realms?

        • She can

        • +1

          @whodidthat:

The Sovereign cant make laws - they lost that job to parliament a long long time ago.

The Succession Acts are written by the parliaments of each country. By convention all countries agree to the same things at the same time. THis happened a few years ago in CHOGM in perth, where they removed the male preference thing.

@ninetyNineCents: Whatever, I was only born there and repeating what we (the public) were told.

    • Perhaps not, There is the Tower? John of Scotland ,David II of Scotland,David 11 of Scotland,Richard 11 of England [although he was killed at another castle],Henry VI of England, Edward V of England and his brother,Saint Thomas More and do not forget Anne - Henry VIII wife, and Catherine Howard the royal wife No.5, Henry's friend Thomas Cromwell,Queen Elizabeth I,Sir Walter Raleigh, Guy Fawkes, William Penn, Lord George Gordon, Rudolf Hess [!] and Ronnie and Reggie Kray not for being gangsters but for avoiding National Service. hanging, hanged, drawn and quartered, beheaded, neglect are some of the things that happened to most of the towers quests. Most were Kings Queens and if Scottish or Henry's brides you lost your head.

      • …we haven't had a good Regal dispatching for a while now.

Might need some crowd funding to get back onto the 'Public Performance' shortlist

        • whom should be on the short list?

    • The Queen has 'concerns' about Prince Charles taking the throne, a new biography claims.

I'm not surprised she has concerns. The main one is probably that she'll be dead.

Either that or that she'll end up on the floor the next time she sits down. Check if the throne has been listed on Gumtree…

      • It was. Bought by an "Asian-looking gentleman" and it disappeared. You can now go to your favourite Group site and buy "Regal chair with authentic original throne parts) for $69.95 (+ freight)

  • +1

i can't find how to get the queens pic, someone got a direct link ?

  • +8

It's not really free. It's comes out of the government budget which is from tax collected from the people (us) so we are effectively paying for it anyway.

    • -1

      @Yazuka85

The tax payers money is free money really. We should heavily increase our tax budget on the royal family. Joe Hockey makes sense, "get a job"

      • +1

Australia does not pay towards the "upkeep" of the royal family, hasn't for a long time.
Also, in UK, the royals "budget" was cut years ago, they had to start paying tax and become more self sufficient.

        • yeah we only pay for the upkeep of her representatives, the governors general, and holidays any of her extended family decide to take here.

  • +5

    Gawd bless 'er!

  • Might one ask how much is it normally?

    • +4

Normally costs all your lands and country.

    • +1

      oh yeh.. where is JV?

  • +1

on australia day you post an offer for a free portrait of a foreigner - doesn't have an ozzie passport, medicare card or pay tax to australia

    • +9

She doesn't even have British passport, she is the passport

    • +1

Well at least she's not a convict.

  • Can I politely decline?

  • +1

Any deals on budgie smugglers Tony?

    • you need some budgies?
Go to Alice Springs, plenty out that way

      • Is there like a massive budgie smugglers outlet in Alice Springs?

  • Who? And why do I care? REPUBLICA STRAYA!

    • +2

  • +2

  • +1

    You're too kind, your Grace.

    Thank you, your Grace.

Enjoy. A true Asslickia Day celebration. Grabbin' one as run outa flags.

    • History my good man, not hysterics.

    • +3

First of all you should know that you can only sue the actual thief not a descendant.

Like it or not British colonisation actually benefitted India. Life was much worse under the old system so stop romanticising it. Go back and read about all the terrible customs and apartheid system they had, aka the caste system. Theres a reason why India has a lot more people now then before, and thats because lots of people died back then before the EUropeans from disease and the cruetly of their betters and supposed countrymen.

      • +1

        There, I do agree.

No one can say any country is perfect, looking at history and "today".
Sure, UK got it wrong and did bad things in the past - but so did other countries.

UK sent people here, invading a country and taking over - now celebrated as Australia Day - but is it Australia Day for the "natural" people of this country? Don't get me wrong, I love Australia and most of it's people but……

There is both good and bad everywhere…….

        • +5

Im not denying all histories from all places have good and bad… im simply stating nobody wants to live in the old days when life was really bad for just about everyone.

Like it or not the British actually helped shape the modern world for the better. Everybody did slavery for example, even India, it was the British who used the Royal Navy to start the end of that horrible chapter in human history.

Id rather live in the modern world which the British mostly defined than some world where we do Australian aboriginal customs or old India.

        • @ninetyNineCents: "Everybody did slavery for example"

so did australia until at least the 1970's… thats hardly "old days" http://www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/bushtelegraph/d…

        • +3

          @nosdan:

          Bullshit.

Secondly if we remained without the British improvements we would all still be slaves, living in shit (literally), with half of us dying as babies, with basically no medicine and a lot of horrible other things.

So be gracious and stop the bullshit. If you dont like the modern world - go live with the Taliban.

        • +1

@ninetyNineCents: I am British. I know the good, and bad, the country did in the past.
Even to their own people and leaders!

Cpt Cook came from my part of UK, so I know a fair bit about him. I also know what the British did to the aboriginals at the time - that was wrong. It was an invasion and takeover.
Yes, Australia is good, but the cloud of that time still hangs.

USA was another story, they went into slavery when a lot of places were "leaving it behind". The British also invaded there and took from the natives. The Americans, as they became, just continued it and then abused Africans……..but as I said, that's another story.

        • +3

          @whodidthat:

Everybody invaded and stole in the old days - im not denying that at all. Im simply saying some people like our friend nosdan completely forget that the other systems were even WORSE than the brits. Whats more at least the Brits improved a LOT OF THINGS, eg democracy, equality, abolishment of slavery, introduction of hospitals, police, schools.

Old India would not have any of those things if they werent educated by the Brits. The same is true of the rest of the world.

Life was shit everywhere else - tahts a fact.

        • -3

          @ninetyNineCents:
the british also royally (pun intended) (profanity) this country in many ways.

          Bullshit

          taken from the link above

Between the 1860s and the 1970s, Aboriginal people of all ages were taken from their homes and sent to work on cattle and sheep properties all across Australia.
Several such schemes were run by colonial and state governments, theoretically to protect Aboriginal Australians from mistreatment.
People were forcibly sent to work, sometimes far from their homes, where they spent up to 16 hours a day toiling in kitchens, homesteads, shearing sheds or on the land.
          Wages were very rarely paid.

yea, dosnt sound anything like slavery to me either…….

So be gracious and stop the bullshit.

yea, a credible news source is probably a bad place to get your facts from…. i should be more like you and just have "faith" that something isnt as it seems huh….

If you dont like the modern world - go live with the Taliban.

wtf does some shithead organised religion have to do with anything? all organised religion is evil. its all the same evil, hate mongering crap.

          random thought for the day…
i wonder if someone can have their head shoved to far up their own arse that their head actually pops back up where its meant to be again?

        • @nosdan:

yea, dosnt sound anything like slavery to me either…….

Still was better than life in India as a slave where our master could kill you at their pleasure.

wtf does some shithead organised religion have to do with anything? all organised religion is evil. its all the same evil, hate mongering crap.

I was simply trying to show how bad life was in the old days. The old days werent a (profanity) paradise where everything was warm and fuzzy, it was harsh, evil and cruel.

wonder if someone can have their head shoved to far up their own arse that their head actually pops back up where its meant to be again?

Big words from someone who completely skips the fact life was shit in nearly ALL cultures in the old days. WHen i shit lets not add a few terrible thigns they did like human sacrifices, slavery, death because the chief wanted you dead, lack of justice etc.

        • +2

There isn't any country in the world that hasn't been invaded and taken from its previous owners at some point in time. I mean, even Britain was invaded by the Roman Empire. So, who owned Britain first? Over time the settlers seem to become the 'rightful owners' until the next invasion occurs, even if that takes a thousand years…. Turn the page.

      • Britain (profanity) up every country it ever colonialized.

Look at what is now Israel, India/Pakistan to name a couple.

        • Not quite correct.
Britain was a lot better than, say, Spanish or Portugese or French and Dutch. Yes, times were tough, but most British Colonies got there independance without Civil war or even unrest (USA being a most notable exception). These former British Colonies also got a good dose of Public Health and cleanliness and the beginnings of good social order without Feudal warlords and bandits fighting within the countries

  • Does anyone know if the portrait is framed?

I'm surprised that the pictures of your Head State does not have a place in your home. The place where I come from, it is compulsory to have the photo of our Supreme Commander at the Forefront of the Struggle Against Imperialism and the United States, hanging on the walls of our homes.

Our Dear Leader, who is a perfect incarnation of the appearance that a leader should have, will know if you adore Dennis Rodman or anyone else more than him because he is a Heaven-Sent Hero therefore he is omniscient. If you did not hang the World’s Best Ideal Leader with Versatile Talents pictures on your wall, he will have you head hanging on your wall instead.

Also, it's also a fact that our Ever-Victorious, Iron-Willed Commander and Guardian Deity of the Planet, doesn't have a butthole because he has no need for one. If you ever wondered who he is, just take a look at my avatar.
