  Yes, the master is connected via USB and the computer has to be on to run the software.

I just bought an outdoor master system less than 1 week ago from another dealer! (Haven't got around to installing it yet)

I paid $115 delivered and thought I got a good deal at the time. In my defence, Logitechshop were selling them for $200 + delivery then.

I was gonna buy an indoor master system with an outdoor add on rather than wait for the deal and potentially miss out… but then i realised that for an extra $5 i can get a whole other outdoor system rather than just an outdoor add on. which is what i did :)

anyone know if the computer needs to be on fully or is sleep / hibinate fine? Just a bit concerned about leaving computer on all the time and wasting power. Anyone else feel the same about this or is it just me with my wife on my back about this hahaha

Dont know why everyone is getting excited about this. This system requires PC which will be turned on all the time for you to monitor.
Imagine your power trips off for some reason…and you are overseas …..well you will loose monitoring capability.

I would rather prefer a security camera with in built ip capability ( no need for a separate computer)…an example

  Not only that, if you would like to add more cameras, you need to make sure they plugin in the same electric circus or "the camera will not be found".
  
  If you would like "email notification" or "motion detection recording" you need "pay service" - it is not free.
  
  Provided you have everything ready - otherwise it won't work as you think it would.
  
  I still think it's a great great great deal provided you know what it requires to setup.
  
  BTW, it won't work under low light or no light.

to be fair if you went with an analog or dvr type setup you'd also need to run some device 24/7 usually with a HDD inside… either way if you wanna watch/record 24/7 you gotta run something 24/7 (which i thought would be patently obvious)

Couple of questions:

If 2 spearate master systems are connected (not addons), can thye be connected to the same software and computer?

What is the main difference in connection between the master and add-on? I'm guessing the both connect to the power with the exception of an additional USB connector (with master) to connect to PC. So ideally, are we only paying extra for the USB connector?
