Sorry but I can't justify paying approx $57 more for this prime version when I can get the Redmin Note 2 16GB for approx $180 shipped

Instead I'd rather get the Note 3 32GB for $275

Or even better choice IMO - the Asus Zenfone Prime for $287 with the 10% eBay promo

  • Beware update 7.1.1.0 killed this phone. Sometimes it doesn't charge, though removing the battery temporarily fixes the issue.

No OTA updates so far. Can't seem to get manual update working via Recovery mode

I'm running 7.1.3.0 no issues, maybe try flash with this later version? I rooted my phone and installed TRWP so I can flash without a computer connected

      • Thanks mate, I'll give it a try and get back to you. One user on a Xiaomi forum said that battery life was worse with 7.1.3.0.

        • I've been running it for 4 days now, usually around 65% left after a normal work day so I'm impressed!

      • Anyone has this issue after flashing:

When I tried to select a 'locale', it does not have Australia as a selection?

        • Yep, because it's a china phone, just select any then modify date & time later.. no issues after that

        • @Gomo:
          Thanks G.

        • @Gomo:
Gomo you are are lifesaver ! I rooted it with KingRoot, and flashed TWRP and successfully downgraded.
My music app isn't working but everything else is. Thanks !

edit: looks like I have the Note 1 version (not the Note 2) my bad ><"

@lakers1222: no problem guys !! Glad that I could be of assistant

  • For what I gathered:
    MTK Helio X10 can't use stock/generic android.

Zenfone has camera problem even after updates.

Is there a sub $300 Dual sim phone that don't have problems??

    • Zenfone2 meant to get Android 6 which should fix any application related issues… however I have used an older Asus Zenfone2 and installing a 3rd party camera app makes things more better.

You could also look for OnePlus X, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro (Snapdragon 650 and MicroSD support) or locally stocked Motorola Moto G

      • Android 6 which should fix any application related issues

What are you basing this on?

        • Doesn't the new version of OS generally "fix" things? :)
On a serious note (Sorry I should have clarified) - at least the battery life should be much better on Marshmallow based on all the reviews so far… and we should expect enhanced camera performance by the Google Camera 3.1 app which is available on Marshmallow. Then again if the camera hardware is not better then app tweaking won't do much good

    • Redmi note 2 has a pretty solid cyanogenmod support from what I've seen. That's as close as you can get to stock android from what I understand too.

      • That's as close as you can get to stock android

Cyanogenmod isn't stock. AOSP is stock.

  • Same price as geek buy or gesrbest …so not sure about deal and urgency …had hoped for killer Chinese new year deal.

  • Same price as geek buy so not sure about deal and urgency …had hoped for killer Chinese new year deal. I bought one for my son a while ago great phone with the global rom from their web site and he gets OTA updates

The 32gb at 16gb price would close the deal for me to get one for myself also
