I still would not take the risk, but that is just me!

    • Not just you, apparently. These bags are not exactly flying out the door, according to troy1976.

I do prefer my salmonella to be pre-bagged

looks like woolies have reduced some of the pre-packaged salad range,

I wonder how much their sales have dropped ?

    • +1

      Would dropped off a lot.

      • -3

do you mean would off dropped alot?

  • +1

Still more expensive than Aldi, and no salmonella guaranteed.

  • It was a unforgivable fault, I wonder why this supplier of prepackaged salads can walk through this so easily.

Maybe Oz is so nice, that we can tolerate anything…

Back away, not today disco lady.

There is a large sign in our Woolies saying 'wash before use' … the bags still say 'washed and ready to eat' …

  • +11

This would have to be one of the cheapest and most efficient ways to lose a couple of kg before Valentine's Day.

Always fun to see the limits of an ozbargainer's thriftiness.

  • Yeah noticed all the 'prepacked' salads at Woolies at steep discounts all week but oddly enough the shelves looked completely full… not a single box or packet of them removed from the shelf which is highly unusual to say the least (although not entirely unexpected).

I'm guessing woolies attitude is that they've got supply contracts with various companies and we should all 'get back to consuming' since we are all assured the problem was only with a particular batch from a particular supplier… despite these sorts of pre-washed and pre-pared salads being notorious for salmanella risk.

    • Yeah its all about the $$$ for these big companies.. They are getting rid of the non-performing Masters but for some reason will not discontinue these disease-causing pre-packaged pieces of sh*t. FFS its not even been a week since the last salmonella outbreak. Greedy SOBs.

LOL i used to buy packed salads all the time

Not anymore - same as the frozen berrys

We ban raw milk but let these guys still sell their stuff on the shelves

    • Next will be prepacked mince meat. If you look to the US, where our practices are heading, you can see that the giant meat processing plants that pack and box up the meat were the source for widespread salmonella. It will happen here too, sooner or later.
A good argument for a local butcher.

They should do a deal on bulk toilet paper to tie in with this one.

"Buy 2 bags of salady stuff and get 16 rolls of clean-up toilet paper for 1/2 price"

    • +1

      LOL.

Now if they could only include a voucher for replacement body organs!

  • I'm sure they washed all the salmonella off before putting it back on the shelve, should be alright to eat :)

I used to work in a packing factory for the bags of lettuce. Never had a salmonella outbreak but somehow half a mouse got past 3 inspectors. Had to ditch a days work as we didn't know where the other half went.

    • Want another day off? Paint the numbers 1, 2 and 4 on three pigs & release them at work, day off while we search for pig number 3.

  • Thanks OP.

I can definitely use a good internal clean out…

You need a detox, not a tox.

I keep pet spiders so I bought 3 bags.

  • +1

When they say crunchy they must mean the added spider.

Posting this deal was worth it just for the comments

  • since when is salmonella a bargain. no deal.

    • +1

If you need to lose a few kilos, or want to spend a couple of days off work.

  • In hindsight I should not have opened this while having dinner.

  • Have to wonder how the spider was able to breath in a vacuum packed bag??
Those things are gonna survive the next nuclear apocalypse……..

    • When was the first one? Must have missed it ;)
