looks like warranty is now 1 year. used to be 90 days. i would go for Fire stick as it has Kodi

    • Amazon Firestick does not have Kodi - this app was removed from Amazon long time ago
Kodi needs to sideloaded as a third party app and to make it easier, configured to run with llama using a ghost app shortcut.

      • the end result is that Fire stick HAS Kodi (though not via their app store)

      • Yes you have to sideload it, but that is easy and there are many artiles on the interweb that shows you how.

You are wrong with regards to having to use llama. With the latest os, you can easily access it via the App list without having to use llama to have the shortcut.

So they will ship this but not the Roku 3/4 anymore. WTF. While I love my Roku 3, I have one of these Streaming Sticks in the bedroom TV. It sucks in comparison to the Roku 3. The remote is not of the same quality and often stops working or is very laggy and it also doesn't have a headphone jack. Still 100 times better than a Chromecast but no where near as good as a Roku3/4.

Beware vpn required wich will block netflix :(

    • What do you mean? Netflix has worked in Australia without a VPN for a while now (though with a different selection of media)

      • He is prob talking about the USA Netflix which has more contents then the australian one.

Roku stik needs a vpn so netflix won't work , well it doesn't for me anyway… Us or australian

    • Don't get why netflix would not work though..can't you just use an aussie vpn?

      • Probably because this Roku stick is designed for the USA market (you can tell when it has an Amazon button on the remote control) and so limited to requiring a US IP address to use Netflix.

        • getflix still works fine…

        • @deeps:
getflix hasn't been working for me. I've cancelled my subscription.

        • @AdrianW:

It's been flakey for me - but it's got various US servers you can switch to and it works again. Annoying but still working for now.

    • You need to configure the alternate DNS settings on your router as you can't do it on the Roku itself. However this does not explain why Australian Netflix isn't working for you.

      • when i reset my dns settings to my isp provider roku does not work, change it back to vpn it works, roku doesn't work without vpn , cannot access netflix or anything without vpn dns enabled, if your vpn isn't blocked by netflix it mite be soon, just warning people if they want this for netflix, is iffy, safer to go for chromecast and do away with vpn

    • False information - Roku does not require a VPN (other than when first setting up the web account). You do not need a VPN ongoing, and can use Netflix AU no worries. If you can't do it, that's on you - don't go spreading FUD here.

Source - have been working with Roku units for many years, currently have ~4 in my house, and another 5 or so through my family that I've set up.

Worth with both Getflix and without for me

  • Can u install kodi ??

    • no, firestick 4 that

    • Kodi is a wank. You go to all the trouble setting it up, then in a few weeks it all stops working. Got fed up with it.

      • What are you on about? I've been using it with my fire tv for months without issues

        • -1

          The sport channels constantly drop.

        • Never had any issues with live sports channels With my fire tv and kodi

        • @Al Kider:

FFS, pirate TV streams are not Kodi - read Kodi.tv !!!! You can't say "Kodi doesn't work/is crap" because your dodgy unapproved illegal sports streams don't work.

  • Looking for something that natively supports x265 and 4k but isn't a P.O.S un-userfriendly Chinese Android box. Any suggestions?

    • Try a fire tv.

  • Noob question - how can I purchase this from Amazon and ship to North Sydney??

  • If I buy this, can I still see contents from AUS Netflix?
