      From Mod:

      Thank you for your report for Crucial 8GB Single DDR3 1600 MT/s SODIMM Memory USD $33.15 (AUD ~$44) Delivered @ Amazon (Deal Post)

      The outcome of the review for this content is: No action taken.

      Message:
      You are correct. Delivery to Australia from Amazon is a set price so it is US $33.15 no matter where you are - the only difference is at checkout it shows as US $33.19 (extra 4 cents) but doesn't matter. User has cart in $AU so their price will be slightly higher than paying in $US via mastercard or similar. I'll make some slight adjustment to your title for the $0.04US difference and round it up to AU$45 as it works out to AU$44.67 using mastercard rates https://ferates.com/mastercard/aud Thanks!

        But think about his 4 CENTS!?

      • i posted from my amazon account the prices shipped to nsw

        here it is with the CHEAPEST shipping selected:

        • Oh thought you meant that it costs you $42 to ship to a postcode.

          Anyways, AU$45 is the rough conversion if you are going to pay for it in USD with a fee free credit/debit card such as 28 Degrees.

  • Thanks OP.. Ordered.

    Normally, an excellent deal! But eBay 20% changes things…

    AU$47.96 (-65cent cashback) for local stock, faster delivery, better warranty conditions.

    • ddr3l though, so still a great deal for people who want ddr3

      • +3

        DDR3L is revision of the JEDEC 1.5v DDR3 standard. It can run lower than the old 1.5v without problem. Backwards compatible.

        If you get DDR3, you could be in trouble.

        Get DDR3L, and you're covered for both.

          Thanks, ive posted so many ram deals but know jack about them :)

          @lyl: All good. I had to double-check, myself. Regardless of what anyone says… Please keep sharing your finds!!

          Every time I leave the shadows, and post a deal, I make a KNOB of myself LOL

          Check my latest effort

        • @Utopian[https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/42234]
          If you already have 1.5V RAM in your laptop, you can't mix that with 1.35V. Correct me if I'm wrong.

          BTW… I ordered this RAM from lyl's previous deal and it is a DDR3L RAM.

        • @borealis: As a general rule, I'd try not to mix… So many YES/NO experiences filling the internet. It's never "officially" supported. That's computers, for ya. Everything from RAID, to SLI configs. DDR3L is DDR3, but better-rated. It has to be DDR3 rated, first. so I'd think it should be fine. Again… "YMMV".

        • +1

          @Utopian:

          I'm only good with prices, but not very good with tech, so I'm well known to make a knob of myself when I try to justify my deals lol.

          Likewise, try not to be discouraged from posting deals in the future though, even if you occasionally screw up.

        • @Utopian:
          I agree, DDR3L in a way is a superset of DDR3 as it can draw 1.35V from a 1.5V rated RAM slot. However reverse won't be possible (drawing 1.5V from a 1.35V rated slot).

          However, mixing the 1.35V and 1.5V was something I didn't dare attempt on my laptops.

        • @lyl:
          Good job with finding the prices, mate. I bought this RAM because of the previous deal you posted.

          You might want to change the listing to reflect that it's a DDR3L 1.35V RAM, though. As that's what the one I received said. This way those with DDR3L requirements won't be dissuaded from purchasing it.

        • +1

          @borealis:

          Thanks, just changed, you'd think the listing of the most sold ram on amazon would be correct haha.

        • @lyl:
          Yeh, I also think that this Amazon listing title is misleading in a way. Even though the description does say: "NON-ECC, 1600 MT/S, 1.35V, DIMM Type - Unbuffered"

        • @borealis: Seems weird that they'd make such a basic mistake. Are you 100% sure it's DDR3L and not DDR3 as stated?

        • @fredblogs:
          From The Horse's Mouth

          Labelled 1.35v capable, but not labelled DDR3L

          Odd.

        • @Utopian: and @fredblogs:

          Just to be clear… from memory, it wasn't labelled DDR3L; but the voltage specified was 1.35V only (no mention of 1.5V anywhere on the packaging, no mention of dual compatibility on the packaging etc.).

          And my understanding of DDR3 Vs DDR3L is that they both have the same pinout and the only consumer discernable difference is in volatage drawn - 1.5V vs 1.35V.

          I got rid of the packaging, but I'll open the laptop up to check what exactly the module says.

        • Oooh!Found the packaging. Looks like I hadn't thrown it away - I used it to keep my 4GB module in :)

          And @fredblogs: and @Utopian: Weird/Odd or not, it indeed is labelled as "DDR3L" :)

        • +2

          Here's a picture of the packaging for those who're still reading/following:
          Crucial DDR3L Amazon Deal - OzBargain |y| Package Image

        • @borealis: @Utopian: Crucial website says it won't work in my system (Inspiron 7559). I don't really understand why, because it then suggest a 16GB module with almost identical specs (but that says DDR3L).

        • +1

          @fredblogs:
          As per http://www.dell.com/au/p/inspiron-15-7559-laptop/pd

          8GB Single Channel DDR3L 1600MHz (8GBx1)

          The crucial module in this deal should work for your laptop.

        • @borealis: Thanks. So it's out of local Kingston DDR3L for $48 or Crucial DDR3 (which is really DDR3L :) for $45. Decisions…

        • +1

          @fredblogs:
          The one I ordered from Amazon took 15-16 calendar days to arrive to Sydney metro. Hope that helps you decide.

        • +2

          @lyl: Got an Official Answer

          I think it's weak, and the market seems to agree - As they seem to be the only ones poorly labelling. But, what are we gonna do about it? :D

        • @Utopian:

          What the hell lol… nice work :)

          'Mystery' solved I guess

        • +1

          @Utopian: I wasn't impressed with their answer and I've replied there.

        • @borealis: So Crucial is possibly a better brand, but the Kingston is local so faster delivery and better warranty conditions. Is that correct? I think I'll go with Kingston then.

    • +1

      Crucial or Kingston, which is better ? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/361054582776

  • Is this much better than the kingston that was available locally for $50 a few days ago?

    • $4 cheaper. Check convos above.

  • Can I use this for my 2009 Macbook Pro?

    • Wondering this too.

  • Was wondering if this would work with the Acer laptop posted some time ago…??

    • Yes..but the first Acer in the post only has 1 slot.

    • just buy 8gb one stick mate and shove it in, gotta remove the rubbish one thats already in there (toss it in the bin!)

    • +1

      It wouldn't make a significant difference though. THe underwhelming CPU will bottleneck everything.

      • +1

        Depending on your requirements that CPU is quad core and plenty powerful for most home/office based tasks that do not involve gaming or heavy graphics work

        I have 5 of them with ssds and 4gb RAM each

      • -1

        I originally thought that too until I swapped the HDD for an SSD. Chrome on the hard drive was unusable, but perfect on the SSD. Now I just have the hard drive in the empty DVD slot as a data drive.

        Then again, I'm only using it for RDP, internet, media playback and word processing. Attempting to play games won't go so well obviously.

  • It has been reduced further today so I got the 8 GB kit (4x2). Good deal.

  • Further down to 25.99USD

  • Installed this last night. Can confirm (1) it's labelled DDR3L (2) Crucial are idiots for advertising it as "DDR3" and confusing everyone (3) The RAM works fine in my Inspiron 7559
