I bought a few of these for $2 a pair at Bunnings last year…

    • +1

They still cost about that too. Bought some recently for $2.

    • +12

I posted the $2 bunnings gloves as a deal a while back, why didnt i make the front page?

why didnt i make the front page?

you don't have as many fanbois as TA…

        • +1

But wise old JV, im a bit disillusioned here….should not each deal be judged on its own merits, rather than the poster? Surely the good folk on on ozbargain realise this right??

        • +4

          @pointless comment:

should not each deal be judged on its own merits

yes, but life isn't always fair…

        • +20

Why does TA always request mods to remove his comments when he gets stacks of -ves ???

That is a very negative attitude TA…

        • +13

@jv: its a pity that all these comments have been removed and the thread collapsed - it was a healthy discussion on gloves, ozbargain politics and quality of front page deals in general

I think its poor form requesting the removal of a comment when it results in several others users comments also being removed.

If people take the time to enter into discussion with you, surely you owe them a rebuttal or concession - or even complete silence - rather than a complete denial that the said discussion ever existed.

Ive made a fool of myself time and time again on this site.

Not once have i considered requesting the removal of my comments.

        • +4

          @pointless comment:

Hi PC. Firstly let me start by saying I should not have entered the discussion to begin with. I asked the moderators to delete my two comments for a reason. The first was in response to 'placard' stating they weren't the same gloves as the Bunnings ones, and in fact a lesser quality. When I got a response to it from jv, I then asked for it to be removed as I saw no point in continuing by trying to justify it. The second comment I made, I regretted totally 5 minutes in. I called you a troll. I'm old and man enough to admit this was wrong and it's not my style. I hated myself for it! It was done out of pure frustration, anger, and disappointment at the continual negativity I seem to be copping lately in my posts, of which I have no idea why. I don't see it happening anywhere else but my posts. For this comment, I want to apologise unreservedly. I was totally out of line.

I also noticed another user jumped in to my defence. I treasure his friendship like no other. He's young, wise and intelligent beyong his years. Having said that, I believe he also should not have commented, and I've since spoken to him about it. I value what he did as he publicly showed support, but it also incites unwarranted negativity (for want of a better word). I understand the points you try to make in your comments, but I also see others feeding off them and 'fuelling the fire'. I believe the comments within the post should really only be about the deal itself. How does it benefit anyone by bringing up an old post and asking why it didn't make the front page? You may have noticed I comment less and less these days, and these are some of the reasons why. Having said that, I will continue to post great deals - it's what I love to do - and I hope the community benefits to the max. Let's all move on and do what we do best. Take care and have a great day. TA.

The second comment I made, I regretted totally 5 minutes in. I called you a troll.

well thanks for taking the time for such a response. I hereby accept your apology for labelling me a troll, it was uncalled for but you are obviously big enough to admit wrong doing publically. I respect that.

I believe the comments within the post should really only be about the deal itself

Thats is fair, but comments on any deal inherently carry with them the reputation of the poster themself. I think such lines of consideration are healthy to not only the self purported democracy of ozbargain, but also to the overall quality of the site in general. Anyone who takes the time to create an ozbargain membership is invested in it and therefore has a right to express opinion - if it is unwarranted, the neg army will be sure to let you know

I also noticed another user jumped in to my defence.

So did i TA, so did I. While This paragraph came off as a bit too saccharine sweet IMO, i get your point. I hope Lyl has learnt some valuable lessons here. someone like myself is happy to weigh into arguments and share an opinion coz i simply dont care about reputation, upvotes, politics and/or referral credits/commmissiosn/prizes. someone like lyl obviously does. He came off looking like the milky bar kid armed with a calculator.

Anyway, no hard feelings to either of you and keep up the good work - at the end of the day its all about the bargains

        • @jv: can you feel the glove?

Also, at this price, you could use the gloves as a sick bag to contain the said puke

          @tightarse:

It's a good thing no one had to buy 1 of these $2.50 gloves just to demand a duel :)

        • @Spackbace: lol, i alReady cracked that joke below - complete with youtube link - in fact, it was what started this little tussle in the first place…thanks for Stopping by

        • @Spackbace: correct…repetition is the key, as youve now learnt….use this power wisely ;)

        • @pmupsinep: the matter has been resolved - you are the only one trolling, now for a second time - please refer to my response lower down the page that i gave you upon your first trolling effort.

You are lucky that i have a policy of fighting my own battles without dobbing trolls like you to the mods - i think your efforts to troll me over the past 24 hours would require a week or two in ozbargain jail, if i was a tattler

@pointless comment: Interesting, considering that post you linked to was not even referencing you, yet you decided to launch a full scale attack on me regardless. Hmm. But that's cool you have form for that sort of thing on here so we're used to it, we mostly let it slide out of pity lol. Keep fighting those battles, and thank you for the contribution.

        • -1

@pmupsinep: third trolling effort…just quit it

Why do you even comment - you dont post any bargains, just snide remarks?

And you have the audacity to sarcastically thank me for my contribution?

You may well be ozbargains least MVP!

        • @pointless comment: Let me know when you've finished editing your comment so I know what I'm supposed to be replying to.

        • @pmupsinep: well obviously you just replied…so im guessing you dont really have one yet again.

Please stop trolling me, 4 times is enough, thanks & enjoy the rest of your evening

      • I m shocked that you had 2 negative votes as well.

        • -1

          Me too buddy.

I fear that another anonymous hero will give you a second neg too - in case a 3rd pops up, ill hit you with a plus to ward off one of them

Sometimes balancing the politics on this site is harder than a bank account

      • +5

Because you are a different OP. This site is not democratic(?) and people are biased as usual :/
I have put a negative vote on this OP before and bombarded with lots of negative votes by his/her followers. Since then I never vote a negative vote to anyone as this site is designed for. We have no fair voting rights here like in North Korea. Try and you will see.

        • +1

I too do not vote negative on anyone for the reasons you express.

Infact, in my case, i fear with justification it will lead to another lengthy period in ozbargain jail , aka penalty box , or even having my account disabled

You can often find them in cheap asian stores for less than that too. No deal

    • @JV Was it the exact same brand? because you can't compare two different brands at the same cost

Give Cowgrain Rigger Gloves a try, they last longer and are more comfortable, you can get them for about ~$5

    • Watch this hit the front page anyway with dozens of votes, may even hit triple figures

      I demand satisfaction!

        • +7

the chinese made gloves use panda leather.

        • @thepigs:

The Bunnings ones used to be made in India, not sure if they still are…

        • @jv: still same.
made in India is better over China/Bangladesh too.

        • @electricbluee:
I doubt it seeing after all the advancing of their society, they're still traveling on top of trains.

        • +2

@fuzor: try to handle the society with a history of more than 5000 years. And population of more than 1 billion. You can't provide everything to everyone.

Quality of the gloves has no relation with the travel on top of train.

        • @thepigs: they use cat and dogs skin as well. :)

        • @thepigs: And you're lucky if you can get them to pair up every few years.

        • @fuzor:
you should try it once.. it's amazing.. it's adventurous.

    • +5

Please actually compare the quality of the gloves, if you look at the images there is a clear difference

      • +1

i agree bunning gloves are made for india, master gloves are made for australia.

  • -1

These are bog standard gardening gloves. No bloody wonder Masters fell over.

    • +2

I don't think they fell over because of their prices…

I stopped shopping there because I hated the store layout, very hard to find what you want…

And really, really, really poor customer service….

They should have hired more tradespeople and less uni students…

      • +3

Poor customer service???? really I found the opposite.
Actually I really can't comment on Bunnings customer service since if you can even sight their staff, it's their backsides as they're running away from you.

        • Poor customer service???

Yep, the one at Northland is hopeless… Chalk & Cheese vs the service I get at Bunnings just up the road…

Last time I was there, I was waiting at the service desk for almost 5 minutes whilst staff were having a chat to themselves behind the desk…

        • @jv: poor customer service ??? i too find it opposite.
when ever i go to bunnings there is no dought they will run away from you, everytime look for someone you cant find anybody near you, btw they are smart they know how to dodge customers….
masters always someone will be available atleast.

  • +4

I went to my local on Sunday. The staff were UBER friendly. I mean Cash Converters friendly.
Freaked me out so I buggered off haha.

  • -2

This is a standard price for these type of gloves. Its not a bargain.

  • If I am right those are practically identical (very similar, anyway), and go for $2 at Super Cheap Auto:
    http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Best-…

    • Have you even compared them in person. Unless you have, I think it's pointless to make these comments.
Based on the photo alone, the one at Masters seems to be much better quality.
Supercheap auto one looks thin and floppy. Masters glove looks like it's quite thick.
Same comments apply to Bunnings gloves. It looks rubbish compared to this one.

Love how people love to jump on the "No deal" bandwagon when they are not even comparing apples to apples.
Oh well, some people don't have the eyes for detail to even distinguish between cheapies and quality

      • +6

Have you even compared them in person.

        Have you ???

        No ??? yet you claim

the one at Masters seems to be much better quality.

and you're claiming the Bunnings one is 'cheapies' and the Master one 'quality'

        LOL…

        • -2

Masters employee has said that quality is different? Also see the comment below , someone has already confirmed that masters glove is of a different quality. Who's right now Mr troll? Get a job.
You really are pathetic always trolling. Is that really what you want to do with your life lol

Must be really sad to have to want attention on an online forum. Only sad creatures find your sly, useless comments scattered around on every single thread funny, the rest find it pathetic

        • -2

          laugh away troll.
I don't need to see it in person because the quality is night & day even in the photos.
If you can't work that out, you are either stupid or blind.

Pretty sure you are the former since you can't even read.

I never claimed I saw them in person, however I said "Based on the photo alone, the one at Masters seems to be much better quality. "

Can't you read and comprehend that sentence? Lord have mercy on your soul…
My assessment is based on the photo and it is very easy. As easy as ABC. maybe not for you

        • @djc926:

Masters employee has said that quality is different?

So the Masters employee shops at Bunnings so they can compare the two?

      • +4

        • Roflmao

          Is this still 2016?

        • See the comments at the bottom and visit specsaver too since you can't even work out anything with high resolution photos

        • at least I inspected the photos closely to work it out, mr not-so-smart.

@pmupsinep: hope you manage to snare a few pairs of the gloves, they will protect your hands from all your furious gnipmupsinep

You really should either change your name or just cease to antagonise people, you make it far too easy … I mean really….a user name like that on a glove post?

        • +1

@pointless comment: I always keep forgetting to read it backwards. I wonder if it was intentional.

        • @TheOneWhoKnocks: haha mate yeh well if it wasnt intentional it must have been some kind of freudian slip of his prized posession

Looks like he just logged on too - and the comment collected 1 neg.

          Coincidence?

I think not - looks like he has no come back for that one - he really should take my advice and think things out a little better.

with a user name like that you have to be selective on who you bag and where - last time he dissed me was on a doona washing deal, and now a glove deal…he just makes its too easy lol

He had another go at trolling me again at the top of the page….i cant belive this guy lol

      • @djc926:
Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out of it alive.

  • cheap

  • Any information on sizing? Nothing is mentioned on the site

ok might as well use 10% voucher on this

  • +14

As someone who used to work with a glove importer these gloves vs the Bunnings and super cheap ones are very different.
Primary difference is full piece of split leather (suede kind of leather) on the palm on the masters ones as opposed to patch leather on the cheaper ones. Patch leather is where they use the old off cuts and sew these smaller pieces together. This is lower quality for two reasons. Firstly stitching in areas of work are the first things to generally fail, secondly, the off its they use in patched leather are the worst parts of the leather that are not suitable for use anywhere else.

Hopefully this will help clear up some of the bickering back in the rest of the comments.

Keep in kind I have been out of the game for a while but for reference the landed cost for these two types of gloves used to be around 45c for the cheapies and around $1 for the better quality. This was wholesale industrial level, not carded or packaged up for retail.

  • Someone find the dummy and put it back in And someone needs to change its nappy
there there the gloves are good
    Now slowly back away

  • I don't know much about gloves but are these waterproof?

    • No.

    • No, they're mostly cotton.
You can scotchguard them to give a little bit of water resistance, but that'll rub off pretty quickly.

    • Definitely not, they are a cotton back sueded leather and would be ruined in no time.

  • Thanks for the comments! I am currently using those disposable white rubber gloves for gardening…lol Waterproof garden gloves are pretty exp!

  • I bought gloves that looked like this from Superchaepauto for $2.

    • I was once told that on ozbargain unless you have links it never happened

  • Just picked mine up. They are much better quality than the $2 versions. The $2 ones from elsewhere are knock-offs of these Masters ones.
