      greedy bastard :P

    • +2

And what's with the pathetic attempt at broken english?

    • wow that's the spirit. Keep it to yourself….

  • surely that's meant to say "Valid for the first hour of trade" not valued. What, its value changes after an hour?

    • depreciation mate, depreciation. (JK)

  • Just letting you know that HN Gordan, Sydney has sold out. Got there at 8:30am to line up for half an hour and found out they had been open since 8am. Their website said 9am but the shop dude said 8am for Super Saturdays.

    • Hi
If you missed out and where in the store this morning send me your details and I will pass on to the store.
      We are expecting rainchecks.

      Thanks

      Gary

      • are you only take details for sydney based stores?

If the store itself took your details, whats the chances they will actually follow it up?

      • EDIT: gwh has contacted mods, please see his other posts.

  • All gone within 3-4 minutes at HN's Hobart and Cambridge (Tas) shops. Hobart had 20 of them, Cambridge 17. Good value, shame there aren't any left. Their TV ad mentioned an 8am shop opening time but the junkmail didn't.

And yes, the units really do have three USB ports, though it's not specified on the eMachines website.

ALL GONE IN 20 MINUTES AT HN AUBURN NSW

    • +1

yeah and then they had about 10 left and raffled them off, i got lucky and managed to pick the right ticket :D
but yeah back to the bait and switch tactic, they tried to push about 40-50 unlucky rafflers onto buying a referbed IBM for roughly the same price, had a pile of them in bubble wrap.

  • I was fortunate to get one for my kids at Broady, all gone within 5 minutes. A few upset people.

Now I am looking for a 6-cell or 9-cell battery on ebay, only found 1 guys selling them, but he doesn't ship from the US.

Anybody have any luck finding a replacement battery?

    • Good 'ol Broady , that's my closest HN so glad I didnt bother going … I hope there was no pushing and shoving or raised voices ;-)

  • all gone in 5 mins in Gepps Cross SA……..freakin hell! it was pandamonium!!!!

  • what about Chatswood NSW? anyone got lucky?

  • +2

    I slept in. Fail. :(

    • lol me too i wanted to wake up 7:00 woke up 10 to 8 got theere 8:15 i was the lucky last

  • all gone in 5-15 minutes at the 3 stores i checked (blacktown, norwest, castle hill). the one store that i heard how many they actually had, was only 16 (there was 50 people lined up by the time they told us this)

ad didnt say 8am, but fortunately i saw it advertised on tv last night for 8am, just before i went to bed.

for anyone in WA, hopefully you're up early enough to read this - make sure you're at the store before open time….

edit: thanks to gary for following up with contacting stores if more stock is available, hopefully i can still get one

  • I got to Gepps cross late and everyone had gone in and they went in a millisecond. I asked the girl about the demo one as it was still brand new looking and had shrink wrap on it as well. She said sure and went out back to get the box, when she walked out she got mobbed. I thought that was strange but when she walked up to me and said she found a brand new one out back and handed it over my jaw dropped. The guy I was talking to about the demo asked her for the demo and she went out back and got him a new one as well. LOL. My box says they had a total of 47 units. Seems they didnt put the entire 47 out at once, and people just left after seeing the first batch had gone :)

North Ryde Store opened at 8am which I didn't know. So was long gone by the time I got there. OH well- - not a huge loss. Saves me $200 to go towards a new desktop!

    • Same thing happened to me! All WA stores open at 9am so I arrived at 8:30am (went to Armadale) to find the store open and the units SOLD OUT!

  • There were only 16 units in Sydney CBD, all gone now. It was so quiet, only 6 ppl queued at 8 o'clock.

  • Got one at HN Preston (Vic). They didn't have much stock, but they ensured that every single person who had been at the store before 9 could buy one and that they were ordering more stock in for them.

  • +1

    Bait advertising…kind of expected.
Only 20 available at Oxley QLD. Manager said he underestimated numbers lol

They took details of customers who missed out so they can "try" to get more - just to keep the customers from raging lol.

Sales seem to bring out the worst in people with accusations and arguments over queue jumping. Not fun to be in, but fun to watch.

    • +1

Yeah one woman asked the manager to take a second unit off a bloke in line and give it to her as its advertised as one per customer and the manager did it. The guy in line wasnt all that happy but thats life. I saw one family had 4 of them, one for each parent and then the two kids that couldnt even hold onto them due to their size. Unsure what a "customer" is defined as but in my opinion it should be someone that can pay for the item themselves, not a 4 year old with mummies money so they can score more products.

      • +2

So by your reasoning an unemployed person on the government benefit using our money should not be able to buy one. I say the family was smart.
Kids are great, this is one way the pay you back for costing you so much each year.

        • thats flawed logic.

          how is a 4yr old a customer?

  • Thanks for all the tales guys. I'm glad I slept in and didn't waste petrol and time. To the lucky ones, enjoy your purchase. It's a pretty good price, hard to beat for a while.

  • Score! got one .. had to get up and line up @ 7:45 .

  • +1 Just wanted to say thanks. Been looking for a while.
I also was lucky to see TV ad with earlier 8am opening time.

Smitty did it work for you the Registration???

On entering SNID got the following error occurred
"Your SNID is unable to be validated at this time. Please check and re-enter your SNID or contact us online at helpdesk.acer.com.au or by phone on (02) 8762 3264."

      Any Advice appreciated

      • Thought I'd chime in.
This is the first thing I've actually acted on that I'd seen here on Ozbargains, 2 days in and it's already come in handy at home, so theres that. :D

but i've got the same issue as OzBargains.

        Anyone else?
Nothing to worry about, they mentioned the cashback it right at the checkout, so either acer or HN must honor it.

        edit
nvm, read through the rest of the comments:

        http://redemption.emachines.com.au/

seems to be the proper url for the cashback…although it states the offer is only for purchases until 31st March :S

    ABSOLUTE FREAKIN JOKE

Got there at 7:45 after getting petrol. Lined up, a couple wankers brought their kids with them to bypass the 1 per customer deal. They only had like 10 and took my details but they are full of shit. I made it known I was fuming and so were so many other people.

I cant believe I got out of bed for this shit. I would remove my + vote if I knew how.

    • Way to act out, Orgazmo. The fact that you took the effort to get up and stood in a queue so early in the morning means you thought this was a good deal. Now, you want to remove your + vote simply because you missed out? It's not maltopia's fault that HN underestimated the demand or that some people are nasty enough to bring their kids to bypass the "One per customer" rule, so why penalise him? Way to be part of a community.

      • I should clarify my intention is to give a neg vote to HN for their dodgy promo not the poster. Without maltopia, I wouldnt have known about this deal.

      • +1

He doesn't wish to penalise Maltopia, he is annoyed that Hardly Normal uses the sly tactics.

        • We all knew what HN is doing when it's only advertised to be a one-hour sale only. Unfortunately, we have no way of voting an organisation up or down in this site, or that would've been an option. However, removing a + vote of the deal because you missed out is just being petulant, IMHO. Maltopia gave us a good deal, we + vote it for him. The fact that ppl miss out is beside the point.

  • what a joke. What they did at garden city, was open the doors, everybody ran in and started to run towards the computer section, and then sombody said no you need to line up and the counter. So the people that had been lining up for ages and was first through the door missed out because the people that got through the door last were closer to the counters when the announced to go to the counters.

They should have just had a pile of them and then you went to the counter. I was the next one to be served when they said they were sold out! So pissed!!

  • +1

Using your young children to buy multiple sale units is clearly not within the spirit of the "One per customer" rule.

    Some people have no class.

  • i saw one lady who was trying to get a second unit, claiming that because she was using 2 different credict cards with 2 different names on them that it counted as 2 different customers. Luckily they chick at the counter said no thats not how it works, i would have been fuming!

    • lol.. trying to buy one on someone elses credit card . gotta give it to her for trying hahah

  • I was very lucky - I didn't realise they opened at 9am, and still was able to get one from a store nearby after I just missed out at the first store I tried. It's a nice little unit, now I'm interested in two things - where to get a 6 cell battery, and where to get windows 7 for it

  • Smitty,

i have got the AO532H, can i still be eligible for the cashback?

  • +1

Hi…just went and got one…no mention of a limit per customer
Had a pile of about 30 at Bondi Junction at 9.20am
Some dudes were in there arguing with the sales dude about the 1GB of ram…I'm like "ITS $200, WHAT DO YOU WANT????"
    Anway…nice one guys…thanks

    • +3

lol bondi people don't need $200 netbook when they have $2000 Apples :P :(

      • Yeah it's always a good idea to go to whealtier suburbs for these types of deals.

  • Hrmm its only 7:15 in Perth, still contemplating if I should go

    • +3

leave now. ignore red lights. stop reading and just leave.

  • Reminds me of this. Don't forget to watch the video. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8973616/

  • Got mine this morning at HN Sunshine. They only had 11 units, all gone within minutes.

  • Townsville sold out in under a minute….. lots of people holding upto 10 units but the store manager was at the checkout to ensure only ONE PER CUSTOMER. I was one of the lucky ones to get one. Shame I have a busy day would have been fun to sit back and watch the show when the greedy B*s try to buy their 10 units. LOL

  • so any on ebay yet?

  • At 8.50AM

Auburn super store - nil stock
HN @ Domayne Auburn - last display stock was being purchased
    Blacktown store - nil stock

    • Didn't realise they opened at 8am, no stock left :/

  • I managed to grab one at Alexandria Harvey Norman. They had about 30 of them. Pretty much anyone who got there by 8am opening was able to get one. Nice little machine. :)

  • mates, where do i find SNID? is it the S/N number?

    • if u look under the S/N number on the side of the box there's a SNID number

  • oh, found it, on the otherside above the yellow sticker.

    • on the otherside above the yellow sticker.

    • +1

      and still no positive?

  • +1

All gone at my HN BUT they let people order at the sale price!!!

    • wow really? Do you think it's applicable to all stores?

  • ummm…
can anyone give me some advice
which receipt do i send in? the original or the copy with reprint printted at the top. th elast time i did one of these claims, i posted in the copy of the reciept and they asked me to post in the original.

    • I think you answered your own question

      • umm… i did too, the last time was with the sony tv and the free ps3
but wouldnt sending in the original mean u lose ur warranty? or does the store accept reprints? cause the guy at the check out said this is for your warranty points to original and here's the copy hands me the copy

  • the copy is still a proof of purchase which is usually all that's needed for warranty. A store printed copy is way better than a photocopy of the original. If a warranty claim is being argued because you have a store printed copy of the receipt then they are kidding themselves.

    • oh ok cheers for clearing that up, time to pop into the local post office this tuesday and post out the original then :D

  • I managed to pick one up today, they had around 40 units. 100 people waiting but they said 'don't worry we'll be able to supply everyone here, just need to take a rain-check'

  • I wonder if those who got rain-checks, then the new stock would arrive. You could very well miss out on the cashback by the time it arrives.

    • ill be surprised if they have enough stock to supply everyone

  • +3

Just created this account to say that this is a pretty dirty thing acer/harvey norman have done.

Was looking forward to getting one of these, but the fact that they hardly had any in "stock" (which is bullcrap) means this was a marketing ploy. Get a couple of laptops and everyone will come running to harvey norman.

Either provide adequate amount of laptops, or don't have the sale at all. Harvey norman is a large company, im sure they can afford a small loss which turns out to be a gain in the future due to having enough laptops for most, if not all of their customers.

I will think twice before stepping into harvey norman again.

To do this during Easter, is disgusting, shame on you.

    • +6

      Welcome to reality.

    • +3

What's Acer got to do with it?

  • Hoppers Crossing store, I got there at 10 past 8 and the sales chap said they were all sold out, that they only got eleven in the first place. Apparently there were 40+ people lined up b4 8am. I said I wasn't happy etc… and they took my name and ph no. presumably just to shut me up. We will see if they follow up otherwise MLN had a better spec acer for $299. Fu… Harvey.

  • +4

These kind of deals seem to bring out the worst in people. People pushing each other (and running past others who have lined up) to get to these netbooks. Families of 6 pushing past in the line and each grabbing one… Very ordinary

Robbo the Yobbo is back again - what a nerd

      • +3

Can someone delete this racist post? What's nationality got to do with it?

        • +1 agree totally

        • Robbo the Yobbo is racist? I don't get it. I thought Yobbo was anotber name for like trashy bogans? In which case I have seen bogans in all nationalities.

          • @sickllama: he (or the mods) changed his racist comment

            • @SydGuy: If i offended you or anyone else i am truly sorry.

Remarks like the one i made before will not again be posted by myself.

      • Apologies, didnt mean to offend.

  • I went to joondalup at 7:30 and they handed out cards so we could come back and get one so I didn't have to line up but they were sold out by 8:00 and they opened at 9:00 so alot of people weren't happy

  • Anyone try Broadway HN? Just interested to see how many they had?

    • My sister attempted to get one for me as i was in griffith. They had sold out within 3 minutes. I have sent an email to Gary about how outraged I am

      • Hi
I dont have an email from you or anyone relating to Griffith store.
Can I suggest that your sister email me with her details and I will forward on to store.
Also a general request can everyone put their username in the email as I have trouble figuring out who you all are on OzBargain vs IRL!

        Thanks
        Gary

        • Have got her to email this morning. Got a response and everything.

Thanks and is there any idea of what the solution is?

          • @suchislife12: Hi
            Not at this stage.
Due to public holidays I think it will be late in the week before we have an answer.
But it is very easy now to keep you all in the loop as I have contact details and we have sent every request to the relevant stores.
So as soon as we get an answer you will know very quickly.

If you have further contact details or any other questions, feel free to contact me and I will respond.

            Gary

    ASPLEY Store
Waited 1 hour til da store opens, went in the stuff just carries 2 units a time out of the storage room.others have to wait when they're typing customer infos. No one's in the Queue.
My friend and I was trying to get one unit and two women was saying we're together so
we're not even from the same country…just a student trying to get a cheap netbook…
then the woman[in 40-50s,short,white,fat] called us "SCUM".
how sad…Maybe I should say something back next time coz I feel really upset after…
    definitly not coming back.

    • +1

You should definitely said something back, i doubt a woman in their 40s would make a better use of a netbook than student, another note is its always families kids and what not who lines up these cheap deals, ive a strong feeling those are the ones end up on feebay.

  • i didnt bother with the netbook, but when i arrived they were selling wireless routers for $30!!! inc linksys 120n (yeeah its only g, but still, im going to overclock). Also they had netgear routers etc all at $30 each

    • overclock a router???

      • ill flash the firmware and run DD-WRT/tomato and possibly turn up xmit power.
