Was looking at this at JB Hifi where it was $697. Found it at Bing Lee for $598 with free Chromecast 2 (pickup on the spot - no redemption needed) and managed to negotiate it down to $590. First post so give me a break please.

Just be aware that Samsung has only issued one security patch and no OS upgrades for the Tab S2's since their initial launch in September 2015. They are still running Android 5.0.2. If you're expecting any sort of software support with regards to updates, avoid Samsung at all costs.

    • I got an ipad air 2, 3 months before this thing came out and I was gonna sell the ipad to buy the tab S2, since I am an Android guy.
I'll tell you, I might be an Android guy for my phone but the Tab S2 reviews were pretty disapointed with the thing, your post re-affirmed it too. Surprisingly happy with an ios tablet.

      Glad I didn't do it.

I'm still getting ios updates on an ipad 3 I have here as well as an iphone 5c - Samsung sound like they've abandoned the S2 in Sept 2015 and it was released in 2015! It's a joke.

I love Android but the way updates are handled is just plain broken, it's awful.
          Need google to write it
Then Samsung needs to approve it
Then Optus / Telstra needs to approve it
          UGH
          No wonder it takes forever.

        • @hamwhisperer: works great as is, it doesn't even need an update.

Of course regular updates are preferable but there aren't any faults with the software it has on it.

        • @Circly:
It becomes an issue when they stop providing security patches for perfectly functional although not the latest devices. Also there are features on the newer OS's that would be nice to have especially seeing as the Tab S2's are marketed as premium tablets.

        • I love mine too…I bought the smaller one. Very very very snappy. Screen is beautiful.

      • Sadly Samsung neglects software updates on all their Android devices unless it is the latest flagship device, phones and tablets alike. This I can confirm from experience with 3 previous flagship Samsung phones and two high end tablets.

My Nexus devices on the other hand has always received software updates within days of release. Currently using a Nexus 7 tablet running the official latest and greatest 6.0.1 software.

        • Agree with this guy. Have a few Samsung devices and while the h/w is fine I have issues paying $600 for a device that will get shitty support.

I have a Nexus 7. Obviously this 2013 device has the worlds best support. In fact I reckon it gets TOO many updates.

I also have a Motorola phone. Also great support and I think this has perfect frequency.

Samsung are so below this I dont feel like even buying Samsung on special… and this isnt on special.

    Price in title please

  • I don't want to bring you down but has been significantly cheaper during previous eBay deals. I paid <$420 with eBay 20% off and was on special at eBay Dick Smith (guessing 6 months ago). No free CC2 and the deal is no longer valid obviously but just letting others know. And JB's price of $697 is just crazy. Full retail everywhere has been about $598 for ever. On the plus side it is a nice tablet

  • I paid $440. Price match in jb HiFi and told them to keep the chromecast lol

  • Anyone know if it has any keyboard accessory ?

  • Grabbed a 64Gb I pad air 2 for this price in the recent kogan sale.

  • No deal here sorry

  • I just asked them in store (Carlingford) what their best price was and he said $664…after pushing a bit he said he could go to $659. When I told him about this thread he said it must have been when they had eBay deals because he couldn't get anywhere near this price. It seems like the sales ended on March 31 and I've missed out on a good price on this. Lowest I can find right now is Officeworks at $647.
