6 Pack Hot Cross Buns $1 (Save from $1.99) @ Woolworths Haymarket NSW (Nationwide?)

100

Just saw this near the front door at the Haymarket Woolworths in the City, Sydney. Has both fruit and fruitless 6 pack variety available. Not sure if this is store specific.

Good deal for a tasty breakfast or break food option at least 66% off

Still a full table at time of posting as seen in picture

Gotta love post-Easter deals :D

    tasty

That's subjective. I haven't been impressed with any generic hot cross buns since tasting the best in the universe.

    • were they $1 for six?

woolies ones this year seem to have more fruit and less doughy compared to last years.

Why are these called Hot Cross buns when they are sold at store temperature? Hot bread is hot/warm, These should just be called Cross Buns.

    • Thanks for challenging my acceptance of the status quo. I will be thinking about this every time I see the name 'hot cross buns' in the future.
Perhaps it is to imply that they should be heated before eating. This seems to improve my experience with the generic ones. Especially after adding butter.

Furthermore, is it even a cross? Should be 'plus' buns…

Or "X" buns. No one knows for sure which shape the cross of the Crucifixion took. The Romans employed 4 main types. The traditional "T" shape (Crux Commissa AKA St.Anthony's Cross) is in fact used by some bakers but not Woolies.

  • short dated?

  • Not in Leichhardt woollies.

    • Yep, same at my local (3149).. Pretty sure they were $3.95 for 6

  • We still have the Orthodox Christian Easter Sunday to celebrate

    • Isn't that in May ?

  • got some yesterday on the gold coast, got home went to have one they were mouldy

    • Ewwww. Wait aren't they the “fresh food people”, and supposed to bake it fresh everyday??

      • yeah they bake them fresh every day and if they don't sell on that day they just reduce the price. happened once before to me at woolies when they had crumpets marked down to $1 near the registers a while back, mouldy crumpets when I got home

  • Saw these being brought out at North Strathfield (NSW) Woolies last week for $1.50 and were cold like they had been defrosted before being placed on display.

  • 6 Pack Hot Cross Buns $1
