Ordered a gold @ 7am Saturday. Nothing from eGlobal by late this afternoon so sent them a mail reminding them of their "will be dispatched within 3 working days" line. Was dispatched within the hour. Not sure why these stores can't set up some kind of automated periodical mail response system. Would make all of us customers eagerly awaiting any news a lot more relaxed.

Ugh. I got carded by TOLL (watched camera footage on my phone, driver literally just put a pre-filled card on my doorstep - no attempt to knock or actually deliver) and they won't allow re-delivery. The only available depot or "alternate delivery point" is a 40 minute drive away…. I was really hoping that Australia Post would handle the delivery once it was within Australia. I have better experiences with even Couriers Please than I do with Toll.
i got carded as well. had to go 40km away to pick it up and then got stuck in the traffic. can you complain given you have some footage. it is getting really annoying now a days all the parcels are carded defeating the purpose of online shopping and "delivery".

Just received the phone and it looks great. The version on the phone is MIUI 7.2.3.0 Stable after I did an update.
Do you think I still need to flash it with the global version ROM? The ROM version that I have found on the official forum site is Version: V7.1.8.0.LHOMICL (MIUI7) so seems like it is older.
What version did it come loaded with? Did you buy the non-China version?
I didn't look at what the version was before pressing update on the app. I bought the phone from this deal. Not sure if that is the China version or not. Is there something in the about phone section that I can list that will determine this?
Based on the product title and what others have said I think the white version was China whereas grey/gold were HK
@zinga77: excellent. Good to know cos I was starting to get worried when people were bricking their phones attempting to upgrade from vendor ROMs to official ROM. i think they purchased from aliexpress though.
So do you recommend I flash the official ROM or just leave it as is? Don't want to brick anything and not really experienced in doing this.
@YellowKnight: Yep seems like everyone's getting the official global ROM out of the box, so nothing to worry about here. I was referring to someone from whirlpool forums that bought from aliexpress, got a vendor ROM and has now bricked his phone trying to get official global on it.
Not sure what ROM because I updated it before checking. It had google play installed though.
@YellowKnight: Go to setting > About phone > Miui version. Global rom either V7.1.7.0.LHOMICL, V7.1.8.0.LHOMICL or V7.2.3.0.LHOMIDA. I haven't got my phone yet. Dispatch yesterday, perhaps I will get it on Tuesday

@YellowKnight: Seems like the gold/grey ones are sourced from HK and come preloaded with official global ROM. You'll be able to get an OTA update.
I tried to update it to the global rom and now everything shuts immediately when I open it like the camera app, gallery and even the updater when I click update.. I am going to factory reset the phone now and hopefully that gets me back to square one.
What methods did you use to update to global ROM? As far as I know, have to use this method:

I just downloaded the global ROM and put it on the root drive of the phone. Then went into updater and selected choose update package. Selected the zip file and away it went. I will look into those methods later tonight

No I got the Gold version but I think I have stuffed it up by trying to load the Global Rom. I can't swipe up to get into my phone. Also I can't get into the hard reset menu option by pressing power and volume + because it takes me to a dark screen where there is a image of a phone and a cord at the bottom. So if I plug it into my computer the driver does not install so I can't connect it to my computer. Don't know what to do. Wish I could go back how it was when I unboxed it.

missed the delivery yesterday so could not wait to pick it up from Toll today. picked it up an hour ago, came home and did the unboxing. here are my thoughts:
it was a sealed unit.
the rom appear to be non-tempered official rom, no bloatware no Chinese apps all international settings in english. could not find Australia in locality though, i think it is something to do with, it not being sold here.
checked for system update and did an OTA update for 7.2 so running 5.1 android lolipop.
very fast and smooth operation and the phone is very well built. i think it looks as good as their studio shots.
first time buyer from eglobal: very fast and secure postage and didnt have to deal with flashing. recommended

dosent look right. mine said it was dpex but ended up being Toll in melbourne. it was port melbourne toll headquarters where i picked up

Okay, so I've just torn open the satchel. Before I start tearing into the crispy wrapped seal of the plastic I need to know a couple of things. Is it right that the box just say Redmi Note 3 and NOT Redmi Note 3 Pro? I noticed the invoice states "Gold English HK ver." Does that mean I have to flash it with a global ROM? I thought the link I ordered from was the non-China version?

You got a pro version. My understanding is that the global Rom has everything in English including all apps. A.d if it is a genuine Rom then you should be able to do an OTA update. Just start the phone, skip setup, enter Wi-Fi, go in to settings and check for update, it will then download and update to MIUi 7.2. Once updated check that everything is in English. There is no crap on mine, so assuming all received a similar thing.
if it's got google play store it should be the global ROM

Xiaomi doesn't call it The Redmi note 3 pro, its simply the snapdragon version of the original Redmi note 3 pro. Venders often call it pro to easily distinguish the two.

As it's already reached Melbourne. I just called Toll priority as that's the service showing for DPEX. They said as this is coming from overseas this is handled by Toll Global and they work tomorrow, so will be calling them tomorrow. Let you know how I go.
