Wonder if OW will price beat this by 5% … even though the DSE site says no price match

    • +1

Yeah, they would price match it. OW should be the people to say they won't price match, not DSE.

    • +1

the no price match probably means you cant walk into a DSE outlet and ask them to match the online price. It'd have no bearing on Office Works.

  • Nice, thats an 32GB touch for around $330

  • Althought I think I'll wait and see what iphone OSv4 brings before I just in there. Might look at an iphone instead.

    • What don't you know about iPhone OS 4.0 that you need to know? Bear in mind that it won't be out til probably June-August (US summer) but the iPhone 3GS and the 32/64GB ipod Touches (of which this is one) will have full support for the features (multitasking is one not available on earlier hardware).

There will no doubt be a new iphone in June but no new ipod touches until end of year.

  • Good price.

Current OW price is $366. So OW may price match. So after price match the price would be $330.60.

Although bear in mind that OW now has a tendency to temporary reduce its prices just below any such offers. Well still, you get to walk into a store and buy it off the shelf. No need to wait for the delivery.

It works well for me as OW is closer than DSE.

    Cheers.

what's the point to have an ipod touch comparing to iphone?

heaps of apps are useless on touch due to the lack of outdoor network.

i got my ipod touch on release-day 1 in australia, and now it sits on my bose dock to do the same job as ipod nano

    • I think the main point is that a 32GB iphone cost $1040 and we can pick up a 32GB ipod touch for $330, ie $700+ difference.

      • -5

you can get 16GB iphone for $700 from many private sellers, so that makes the difference $370, not $700

besides, many contracts offer iphone with data plan. with the right plan, you could even save money by choosing iphone over touch

        • +2

          Product comparison fail, 16GB != 32GB

          • -2

@winter: since when capacity is the most important part of iphone lol its not like comparing ipod with zune, and fyi, iphone has camera and bluetooth, mean something to you?

the point is the best and most popular part of iphone is apps, and major part of them needs network connection, so that decreases the value and usage of ipod touch dramatically.

    • Yes, what Winter said. If you want to purchase a 32gb iPhone it costs over $1000 outright or even more over a 24mnth contract and you need to pay for the data usage. Its a lot of money when you are on a budget.

For $330 you can still use a lot of the apps available on the touch, and if you really want roaming wifi for other apps you could just buy a $200 wifi modem from Virgin and use voip for phone calls or get a cheap mobile and you would still be better off pricewise.

      • how can you connect a wifi modem into your ipod?

edit: i get it, sorry :)

    • Use it as a HT remote for your Windows Media Centre PC.

      • -1

with that touch screen? oh my…

        • Have you tried?

Browsing media libraries on your iPhone, in a similar fashion to the Remote app, works very well.

  • Got DJ's to price match Officeworks - $330.60 for a 32gb Touch isn't bad…

Quick question… (probably should be in the forums but here is good enough!)

So basically i set up alot of these promotions that jump on Ozbargains. Wondering what types of offers are everyone interested in? Gives me a good idea of what you guys want. It'd be good feedback i think.

    • Macbook Pro deals please! I've been looking for a good price on one of the new ones!

    • A great idea , and nice to see the iniative.

I would recommend creating a forum topic for the above idea and then you will be inundated with requests trust me :)

      • Thanks….i'll set one up at a later date.

FYI 04/05/2010 we're having a sale coming along…we should have ipods, tvs, power boards, GPS units (all online only)

Maybe there will be a Macbook Pro promotion at a later date but at this moment it's not really something anyone will do. I'll keep OZbargainers posted if there is any.

      Z5500!

      • +1

yeah what's happened with that shipping container full of z5500's?

        • +1

Logitechshop'll probably mention it when they're close to 1000 followers, then once they're past it, they'll forget all about it again… It seems that's all they care about.

        • Sorry, this seems to be a discontinued line and we arent stocking it in anymore.

    • Hi Dick

Good XBOX and PS3 deals would be good too…..

      Runout clearances on laptops?

    • Dick

Great specials on monster TV's would be good too - 55" LCD and LEDs

  • Good find. I now can price match it from OW and get one for myself :)

  • +1

I signed up to tell you this.

I went to OW today but they had no stock. So I went to The Good Buys (Ballarat Store) and got them to price match. Their price was $399, he gave it to me for $345, $3 bucks less than DSE.

Sure it isn't $330.60, but better than waiting for DSE to ship it out too.

    • The way I personally like to work out if i should buy online is ask the question

"how much do you value your time and how much do you want it right then and there?"

You probably spent maybe an hour going to OW and then Good guys to go pick it up. Let's say you worked and earnt $20 per hour. Essentially you spent $20 to drive and plus petrol to go pick up your iPod. Ofcourse i'm not judging but that's my 2c. If you can wait maybe 2-3 days then why not get it delivered to you.

But then everyone is different (i remember i use to drive around looking for a place that has a computer peripheral that is $5 cheaper)

  • If I tell DSE that I will pricematch it from OW and get it for 330.60, will they lower their price to match that? I feel bad going to another store when DSE were the ones who did the deal in the first place.

    • I don't think so. The price is meant to be an online exclusive offer and is not meant to be matched in store.
