      • It's pretty obvious what they're doing is illegal. People who keep saying another sale caused an overlap in discounts are either oblivious to the fact or just plain stupid to see through Myers scheme.

What I can't understand though is why is this "deal" even still on ozb, let alone the front page? Are we getting that desperate?

        • -3

Please report it to ACCC and let us know what they say, including which exact laws are being broken.
I'm not interested in your opinion, just what the ACCC have to say after you contact them.

    • The price history only goes back about a month. In that time the price changed from $269.10, back to $299.00, down to $254.15, back to $299.00.
You can't seriously think that a price with 10 cents or 15 cents is not a previous sale price.

  • Classic raise the prices LOL :/

Must have felt the OzBargain power !

  • Shocking shocking shocking.

    Empty sale. Downvoted.

Its an joke, have a look at the clothes range for men.

There is literally like 100 items that are absolute crap.

  • +1

The practice of price jacking during sales to deceive customers needs to be stamped out!!!! Truly, it is really sickening to see businesses take advantage of people like this.

  • Disgraceful behaviour from Myer

Bought the American tourister BHX Expandable 75 cms last week for $148.05.. now price is $329 ( which is Retail price) .. shame on you MYER…http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-BHX-Expandable-Hard-side-Spinnercase-Large-75cm-Black-4-5kg-by-Myer-/231860031905?hash=item35fbef51a1:g:r8gAAOSwuAVWvXqR

  • As usual vendors jacking up the prices during ebay sale.

  • This is pretty poor form. They're out to make a quick buck off the unsuspecting person if their eBay prices + 20% discount is not that much better than the normal non-RRP pricing.

  • Regardless, 20% their RRP not a great bargain.

  • There is no value in this due to sudden increases. Not your fault TA. The finger points directly at Myer.

  • thanks op!

  • Philips electric toothbrushes at 20% off (at the time of writing) stacked with the 20% code is a fair bit cheaper than anywhere else.

    scam, reported to accc

  • This is false advertising

NEW Samsung UA32J5500 32" (81cm) Full HD LED LCD TV by Myer

    AU $535.20 1 22-May-16 12:50:49 AEST

    535.2/669 = 0.8

So your 20% 'discount' brings you right back to the price the other day.

You guys really need to chill!
    As posted before:
Myer had a super weekend sale (Something they do often) and they set their ebay prices to match their online site prices.
The sale finished on sunday midnight and they didn't have a chance to change their prices back to normal prices on Monday morning. I have seen this in the past where they only change back to normal price on Monday morning.

By coincidence ebay came up with the 20% sale. And by mistake some people get the "double" discount. THose who missed out should stop threatening with ACCC etc . without understanding the whole issue here.

    • -3

      People do not understand.

I bought a LEGO set for $600 in 2007, now it sells for $5000-$8000 on eBay, those eBay listings MUST be scams! Calling ACCC

    • Yeah they gave me the same spiel.

I don't think they need to be dobbed into the ACCC anymore, but it's still poor practice.

What this is though is that in some cases these aren't generally bargains though due to Myer being one of the major retailers who regularly charge RRP (although plenty worse deals get posted on OZB, so I digress…)

It does seem odd though in this day an age their eBay team aren't on the ball, and can make such a big mistake though isn't it?……………

      • +1

Why is it Odd? Probably they don't want their I.T staff to work at 12.01am. They could automate it but why risk it if something goes wrong.
Myer has proven in the past they don't change their price on their own website until Monday morning once the sale is over on Sunday midnigt.

For them is worst case scenario some customer can still buy at the sale price until they change it. No problem.

Little do they know we have so many "mindless hordes" that can't accept facts.

        • Odd?

Im not burning them at the stake, but it's a significant error though that is worthy of attention, venture to say they've lost a bit of money on those who have taken advantage of their mistake, a big enough error of a company of their size would be hesitant of making.

In retrospect I agree now the negative response is OTT, but they aren't completely at fault here.

" They could automate it but why risk it if something goes wrong" - There's an even simpler solution, simply delay the eBay code going live, once they've update their own prices, rather simple I would have thought.

    • +5

"How dare they have a sale, then a different sale. I missed the accidental overlap of sales, so it must be the boogeyman jacking up prices.
Why is the ACCC laughing at me when I report this to them? Heads must roll, we need a Royal Commission." ;P

      • +1

        LOL ^

  • Prices still dodgy. Listing prices show a sale price but when you go to buy it now it reverts to full price. Someone needs to fix their by site.

    • -1

Which listing? You should report it to eBay Myer. Maybe you know help them?

  • -2

TIL selling at retail price is a scam, a fraud, dodgy and worst yet requiring ACCC intervention.

    • Dude, you seem rather dedicated to defending Myer during this sale. Tell me, are you associated? If so, you should probably tick the box…

      • -1

Yeah sometimes its clear when people have an association.

      • -1

Ridiculing irrational thinking is not the same thing as defending Myer.
I could accuse you of being associated with Myer's competitors, but that would be irrational.

Many people here have been jumping to conclusions and ignoring facts.
Please do share any facts you have. Baseless opinions you can keep to yourself.

        • -2

          You are quite correct, but:

          1) please provide example of this "irrational thinking", even one example will do
          2) The amount of time and effort this "turd" invests in defending this sale is at the very least worrysome, if he's not associated, then he probably should send his resume to Myer

        • @pyr0maniac: Nicely worded pyr0maniac!

Myer isn't a small business, who ever works in their IT department should be replaced if they can't get a simple thing right.

        • +1

          @pyr0maniac:
          1) Irrational thinking is complaining about jacking up prices when there is no evidence. Please feel free to show me an example where the price has been jacked up. All the other examples I have seen have been incorrect. Not all have been due to the overlap of sale prices, but they have referred to previous sale prices.

The accidental stacking of discounts is a good thing for those that can take advantage of it. I can understand people being upset if they missed out, but those who are making a big deal about it are just being immature. Just think about what it means if these people actually report it to Myer and make a big deal about it. Less chance of the accidental stacking of discounts happening in the future. They've just spoiled it for everyone because they couldn't handle missing out. The mentality of, "If I can't get, no one should."

          2) The amount of time and effort many others have defended unfounded accusations is also worrisome.

  • 20% Vitamix is good enough for me :)

    • You'll find it cheaper at Peter's Of Kensington and other eBay stores, http://stores.ebay.com.au/petersofkensington?_nkw=Vitamix&su…

Eg. the 5200 is $752 at PoK and Myer after 20% off is still $796. Then, PoK is often included in other eBay % off deals to bring the price down even further Eg. Just a month ago: 20% off Everything @ Peter's of Kensington eBay bringing the 5200 down to ~$600 - it was even down to $572 during the CVALENTINE20 off deal, when the listing was just $715 before discount (yes the 5200)

      • I complained to Myer Today and they gave me the dry container for the 750 pro which is worth another $185 so decent deal and don't have to wait :)

        • +1

          Good work :)

  • -1

Anyone have reply from ACCC? Would be interested to know the outcome.

Thanks I dont work for Myer. Just a professional ozbargainer.

  • For those who have been fortunate enough to get the exta discount, Myer should honour your order as they have just shipped mine.
