I would rather an iPhone 3G than this.

    • +4

I bought my 9 yr old the redmi note 2 great phone for $180, but the problem with these phones is software updates …. when sales of a model drops, there is no profit in supporting them anymore. at least Google keep updating nexus as a PR exercise to promote android and apple keep updating their phones so customers feel they will get longevity. still waiting for android 6 on my Samsung s5. …….. my nexus went to android 6 very quickly.

      • +1

I use my old iPhone 4S as a car GPS. I made the mistake of updating to iOS9. You get all the new updates, sure. Now it takes 2+ minutes to boot and be able to load Google Maps. No option to wind back to an earlier OS.

        • they are making you upgrade your iphone lol. Cheap tactics

      • Don't really care about software updates that much. You will Chaney to new one probably in a year or two. It will come with new OS. That's why they are cheap for a reason

  • +1

Yeah with a lower end device or old phone I'd rather not update. You don't get performance degradation, and with Android you can run most apps still on older os. Mind you the older nexus devices such as the Galaxy nexus run better on Marshmallow roms than they did on Jellybean the version Google stopped support on.

  • A quick search on eBay gave these three deals for $224 using these search words (xiaomi redmi 3 pro 3GB 32GB) using worldwide and lowest to highest price.
deal one item number 262236283575, two item number 301929039410, and three item number 141973586736

Tempered glass screen and skin is a must, but if you want to change the colour, there are other cheap protective skin alternatives

    • +4

That's Redmi 3 Pro not Redmi Note 3 Pro.

    • +1

the redmi 3 pro only has a 5" 720p screen with a snapdragon 616 processor, this deal is for the redmi NOTE 3 pro which has 5.5" 1080p screen with a snapdragon 650. Anyway if you are after the redmi 3 pro it's cheaper here, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/249952

      • Yeah I'm very familiar…. GeekBuying are becoming like GearBest…

  • This phone was $211.00 including shipping about a week ago with GearBest using a coupon (now expired). This price will come back. Good phone, I have it. Very fast.

    • Also bought tempered glass for $3 and a case for $4 on eBay.

      • +1

Can you point to the deal and coupon , I know it's expired but I know a couple of GB reps on freaktab and possibly request them to do the deal again.was it AU $211 for the 3GB 32GB Redmi Note 3 pro version with Snapdragon 650. I highly doubt it, probably the 2GB 16GB version which is US$149 -7% cash back from Aliexpress

        • Sorry I had deleted the email by then.

    • +1

that was redmi 3 pro. This is redmi NOTE 3 pro. The NOTE is bigger screen and faster processor

    • +1

I'm pretty sure you meant $211 usd.

  • How would this compare to a Nexus 5 in terms of speed ? Cannot find a comparison between SD 800 and 650

  • +2

thanks OP ordered one with the MOFI Case

have been using mine that i bought from the $273 eGlobal deal, few things,

    -camera is below avg
-OS seems buggy: eg., proximity sensor doesn't work sometimes when on a call, sometimes phone heats when on a call
    -fingerprint sensor doesn't work sometimes

overall phone is okay but im not super happy about it. i'm not sure if i would recommend this to a friend and if my next phone gonna be xiaomi. Your take might be different tho.

    • If it's so bad and can't recommend why have you upvoted the deal?

    • +1

Isn't there a cyanogen or ASOP ROM for this phone? If you don't like the Xiaomi OS then it's pretty easy to ditch
      http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/development/rom…

      • Anyone installed this? I'm more interested in how to unlock bootloader + adding 700Mhz band 28 to it

        • Yes. Being SD chipset this may be possible.. if the antenna can do it.

    • I checked the review on youtube which says it does meet the expectations for the price point. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wbw1Mqv-zRU. I have already ordered it. I will check it out before I hand over to my mom. I have been using the Mi4 on a global ROM (still kitkat 4.4)and quite happy with it. xiaomi is not quite good with updates though. I am hoping this gets 6.0 update. Are you using the snapdragon version with 3gb ram?

    • I choose Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro over Nexus 5x because:-

      Advantage
      - Nexus battery life is way worse. Xiaomi has excellent battery life
      - Much better build quality on Xiaomi. Aluminum body
      - Camera is fine during the day
      - Miui updates often
      - 3GB RAM
      - Dual SIM + memory card if you want with 1 SIM (you can argue Aus is phrasing out 2G but overseas still useful)
      - $60 dollars cheaper than Kogan deal with DHL express post
      - IR Blaster

      Disadvantage
      - Lack of updates on Android OS probably won't see 6.0
      - Camera isn't good in low light
      - Software support not as good
      - No Quickcharge 2.0
      - Can't record 4k video, but 1080p is good enough.

I think its great phone for parents.

      • for parents the battery will probably last all week

      • MiUi is buggy and that's why they make so many updates. So many bug fixes and just one or two features among (eg. last update). I'm not saying bug fixes are bad but suggests MiUi is still not a stable OS.

  • Why is the post title incorrect?

It says: Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro 32GB

However the item linked for sale is: Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro Prime 32GB

These are different handsets… I'm surprised no one has noticed so far?

    • +2

I'm not sure that they are different models but rather resellers using Pro and Prime to differentiate.
Does Xiaomi use Pro Prime anywhere? I'm happy to change it if this is wrong. As far as I can see it is alright.

      • I only searched for aluminium / glass / plastic based back covers as I prefer these.

Plenty of flip covers available on Ali Express though :)

    • I want the MSVII but the size description is a bit confusing.
Which size do we need for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro?

I assume it's the "Xiaomi Redmi Note 3" because I assume the pro is exactly the same size.

"Compatible With: For xiaomi Redmi Note 3 & Pro
For Xiaomi Redmi 3 ( standard version)
      For Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro ( high-end version )
Please Notice: Please choose correct size for your mobile phone, here are sale 3 different sizes for Xiaomi, you can according to the model decription(For Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 & Redmini 3 & Redmi 3 Pro) on the top of the picture to choose right model.thanks!!! "

  • I got an email yesterday telling me it's already shipped.
I hope I'm not too optimistic.

  • +2

Looks like they dropped the gold model with standard package price by USD$10 today for this same link. I had it on my wish list and got an email from Aliexpress saying a price drop. I ended up paying AUD $252.77 not including cashrewards so happy at sub $250 :) Now… can I wean off my iPhone…

    • +2

The cost of a nice case.
      $249.44 now.
      AUD is rocketing up

      • Hopefully more stock arrives, that's an excellent price - possibly the best yet.
Other stores have it for around $257, which is incredible too.

  • Aaand its gone

    • Stock is back in silver/white. Price is now $249! Cheapest I've ever seen, great time to buy.

  • +1

    Gold is back in stock.
    $248 AUD now
pitty the fools who paid $249
Must be AUD still caught in an updraft

  • $248 price is for standard shipping which the website says will take up to 60 days/2 months to deliver (the price would probably dropped by the time it arrive)

Can someone share how long it takes to deliver in Australia using their Standard shipping ?

    • It depends when they do their bulk processing. My order from 2 days ago is now flagged as shipped so that's good. Others above have reported receiving in 2 weeks from then. Note however the ETD from Aliexpress says 15-45 days.

      • Good if it only takes 15 days using the standard shipping.

I believe Aliexpress transaction are all in USD therefore there will be currency conversion charged by credit card company.

How much was the currency conversion charge by credit card company?

        • My MasterCard charge is still showing as pending to the value of AUD$249.44 so I'm yet to see the ~3% currency conversion surcharge of approx ~$7 appear but then keep in mind the 2.4% cash back from cashrewards it all kind of balances out :)

        • @trjodea: You should get yourself a 28 Degrees Mastercard, no conversion charges.

  • I paid $261.81, its $13.78 less now @$248.03 adding DHL is another $27

  • No
    It's $245 now
    suckers.

  • this or LG G4?

    • If you wanna gamble with bootloop. Sure

G4 pretty much killed LG name

      • yeh mine bootlooped this week..just wanted to see if others thought if this phone was better than the G4 in some or all aspects.

the only thing thats making me cling to the g4 is the camera.

    Well Vickmall is cheaper right?

    http://www.vickmall.com/xiaomi/redmi-note-3-pro/3gb-32gb.htm…

$199 USD so what's going on with that?

    • That equals roughly $267 AUD

      • I'm comparing before the price drop although it doesn't come with anything extras and this one does

  • +1

Thanks OP, just grabbed one with a case and screen protector! Hope it's as good as the reviews say. Now the waiting game begins..

    • Everbuying lowest price for GOLD (~$236)

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/252011

      • +1

Posted about 30 mins sheet I ordered :(. Win some lose some..

      • For gold yes but not silver. I think the other post has TOLL priority included delivery is faster but without TPU case and screen protector.

Also we do not know if it's global rom

        • If you want silver — AliExpress is much cheaper

Someone also mention on the EverBuying post that this AliExpress comes non-factory firmware that "can't be updated".

          — not sure about the consequence about this. My impression was, it is better to install the global ROM to wipe out the bloatwares or possible spywares pre-installed with the phone. IF the firmware cannot be updated - will this be an issue ?

With price difference of about $9.00 (if you are buying the gold color). you maybe able to buy a tpu caseand screen protector at that price.

If you want the tempered glass than normal screen protector, there is no use for the screen protector and if you prefer a different casing.

        • @atlinus:

I received it today and its global ROM. Recommend this seller

Also with Cashback 7.25% the gold one is cheaper than the other

        • @neonlight:

How many days before it was delivered? standard shipping ?

Did you ask for a GLobal ROM or is it by default ?

        • @atlinus:

the default is Global ROM and updatable via OTA.

I paid DHL express for $23 I think its worth it. No idea how long it takes for shipping if normal I would say at least 3 weeks.

At least I know DHL handled the item fine.

        • @neonlight:

Was it unpack when you recieved the phone?

I saw the message from seller that they will unpack the box to install global ROM.

        • @atlinus:

          All sealed and packed

        • @atlinus: Mines came well packed. The actual phone box was not sealed in clear plastic wrapping though. So I guess it was unpacked to install the Global Rom. The phone itself did still have the factory protectors on back and front. I purchased Monday with DHL shipping and it was delivered today.

[@neonlight]: Did yours come with the box properly sealed or same as mine?

        • @nfs1:

since it has global ROM, does it mean it is already unlock and free from the chinese pre-installed apps?

        • @atlinus: Yep, the phone is unlocked and there is no Chinese bloatware installed.

        • @nfs1:

          Same situation like yours.

  • Does this one come with global ROM or chinese ROM ?

    • Either. It generally comes with an "international ROM" but if you request to have it as Chinese original ROM they will send just that.

  • -2

Hopefully you guys don't get a sophisticatedly refurbished phone.

  • Is the extra $50 worth the extra ram or are there other differences?

    • Yes worth it for multitasking don't skimp on RAM

  • Which one is better: Note 3 Pro OR Note 3 Pro Prime ?

    • Potato Potahto

  • How do we know if they are selling original Xiaomi ?

  • +2

Decided to buy RMN3P gold from AliExpress hoping for CashReward 7.25% which makes it cheaper than EverBuying offer of ~$236 (topcashback seems unreliable from comments)
—- includes tpu cover and screen protector plus aliexpress seems

    • Default message from AliExpress upon confirmation of purchase:

we are going to process your order, sending you phone with Multi-language ROM to the address you registered. For making international we are going to unpack the box, check the quality and put global firmware
    • cashreward is being tracked - so it looks more reliable than topcashback which some people complained about not getting any cashback after purchase from aliexpress

    • Status change to Shipped after 5 working days.

      • Status Singapore Post:
20/06/2016 Despatched to overseas (Country code: AU)
        18/06/2016 Received from Customer

      • Status changed

27/06/2016 Arrival at Destination Post (Country: AU)

If it already arrive in Australia, still I have not received the phone

      • RMN3 delivered today.

Box shows chinese characters with "Note 3".
There is an explnatoin on their website to determine the difference in packaging for Note 3 anf Note 3 Pro

  • What's the difference between Xiaomi's original firmware and this new global firmware install?

    • Original has less bloatware, but no google.

  • Anyone who ordered standard shipping got theirs yet?
    I'm hoping this week.

  • Paid on 9th and still under processing, didn't select DHL and I reckon I won't see it any time before mid-July. :(

  • +2

Paid on Sunday 12th and got shipping notification and tracking number today Thursday 16th. Not too bad.
    edit: shipping via DHL

  • Black (dark grey) will be back in stock soon if anyone is wanting to wait.

  • Received mine today, anyone going to unlock the bootloader unofficially or just wait for Xiaomi to do it?

    • FREE delivery or DHL? when did you order?

I thought they already install Global ROM by default as per their description therefore no need to flash and install Global ROM.

"If you don’t ask for factory firmware, we need to open the box and install official global firmware. "

      • Bought the 2gb ram version, shipped via Singapore Airmail

Yeah, but from owning the Redmi note 2 I don't really like their roms, was thinking of trying CM12
