Big Xiaomi phone sale starting 5th July. Very reputable store (Hong Kong Dreami) with some excellent prices available. The Mi 4c was very popular last month, and is now going for less!
Prices include free shipping to Australia.

Xiaomi Mi 4c - US $119.99 (~AU $162) (5"/16GB/2GB)

Xiaomi Mi Max - SOLD OUT (6.4"/32GB/3GB/4850mAh)

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro - SOLD OUT (5.5"/16GB/2GB/4000mAh)

Xiaomi Redmi 3s - US $119 (~AU $162) (5"/16GB/2GB/4000mAh)

Xiaomi Mi 5 - US $309.99 (~AU $419) (5.2"/32GB/3GB)

Someone requested a deal on the Redmi Note 3 Pro Prime, I've found this:
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro Prime (gold) - US $168.00 (~AU $223) (5.5"/32GB/3GB)
This is a great price, but note that this store isn't well established compared to Hong Kong Dreami which all other phones in this deal are supplied by. DHL available for ~AU $17.

    Good price on xiaomi Max

    • how's it compare to the note 3 pro? The max seems to have less 4g bands

      • +3

Think of it as a scaled up Note 3 Pro with 1GB more RAM, even crazier battery life and more metal (no top and bottom plastic caps, just plates like the Nexus 6P has on the bottom).

      • +2

Got the Max last Thursday, so far no issues with 4G in Sydney area and around (eg. Campbelltown, Macquarie Centre, Northern beaches, CBD) in terms of coverage and speed compared to the old Lg G3.
Shouldve waited a week and get this deal… But couldn't resist!

  • Anyone knows whether Xiaomi Max comes with play store?

    • +2

This supplier will install Play Store for you, but you can ask that it be left standard without any modifications done. Currently there is no official Global ROM but there are options to get it installed (http://en.miui.com/thread-286862-1-1.html)
I personally would request the package be left alone (no modifications done by seller) and install the gapps package myself.

      • on the mi max, it says factory firmware cant be updated. does this mean it wont ever run regular standard updates on google play?

        • +1

Only if you get the phone with the custom firmware (with multi language and Google Play store) preinstalled by the shop. If you ask for a sealed box, then you'll get the original Xiaomi China Rom (with only Chinese & English language and without google play).
I bought the sealed box,and when first turned on the phone & connect WiFi, it did an OTA update.

        • +1

@kevlam3: Is it easy to install google play store yourself?

        • @stargalaxy: yes, super easy. Just search google in the app store, it will return external link from Baidu for google installer, install that app and run it.

        • +1

@mily: I tried that method, Goodle kept experiencing sync errors/issue "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly". Couldn't sync contacts and others.
Found this forum for the MIUI running android 6.
          http://xiaomitips.com/download/gapps-miui-android-6-0-marshm…

          Worked like a charm.

        • +1

@kevlam3: I am using RMNP3 so don't know it's not working with marshmallow anymore. Thanks for the heads up.

        • @kevlam3: I'm picking up my xiomi mi max from the post office tomorrow, i requested they dont install the global ROM or google apps. if i install what the program on the link you posted (http://xiaomitips.com/download/gapps-miui-android-6-0-marshm…) is that considered another version of the global ROM? im worried im going to get it and none of it will be in english. i cant speaking any chinese or mandarin at all. google apps is no good to me if i cant understand it lol

        • @adamjb007: The chinese rom has english built in as the language option, it'll ask which language you want to use when you start up the phone first time no need to worry that. 99.9% of the stuff will be in english, but some of the built-in Xiaomi apps will still be in chinese (not that you'd want/ or able to use the Xiaomi apps anyway).
the link I gave you is just to install google apps, so we are not installing / modifying ROM and it'll be in english.

        • +1

          @kevlam3:
Aside from the mi fit app if you have a miband and mi home if you have a xiaomi universal remote. Both have passable English translations in them (although I admit I don't know if they're preinstalled on these phones or not)

        • +1

@kevlam3: If it weren't for people like you people like me wouldnt have nice things. youre a legend. i thank you

        • @kevlam3: Bad news, i got the phone started up and google apps is already on there. even though i told them to give me original rom.bugger

        • +1

@adamjb007: ahh, that sucks. You can check if its a custom rom by going to settings - about phone - miui version. Original will only have x.x.x.x, custom will have an extra digit, ie x.x.x.x.x.
I just got an update to 7.5.4.0 couple of days ago, maybe you can check by doing a system update and see if an update is available, and updates to the stock rom?
Or else, you can flash the original Chinese Rom your self, and patiently waits for the global rom which is suppose to be released in August? As they gear up to start selling the phone in India also.

        • @kevlam3: I'm very happy with the phone thus far so i think im going to leave it. i'll consider updating if it starts freezing on me. cheers again

Why buy the Mi 4c over the 4000mAh Redmi 3s?

Looking at buying one of these using Optus network.

    • +2

Mi 4c has Full HD LCD, SD808 is also higher grade chipset (used in Nexus 5x or LG G4) than SD430

      • but battery wont be as good as the redmi 3s, and software on mi 4c will be outdated

    • +2

      Redmi 3S:

      • Better battery
      • Fingerprint reader

      Mi 4C:

      • More pixels
      • Better quality display (according to reviews)
      • Much better camera (according to reviews)
      • Better rom support (official global miui + unofficial cm13)
      • Faster SOC
      • USB-C
      • +3

Redmi 3S does have microSD slot however, whilst the Mi 4c does not

        • Thanks, didn't know that. Also I think the 3S does have an official global rom, but the standard redmi 3 & 3 pro do not.

      • Where did you find the redmi 3s reviews? I've been looking but I can only find the older s616 powered 3 reviews. On paper s430 in the 3s seems about the same as the s616, but uses a newer gpu but I don't know if the adreno 505 is an improvement over the adreno 405 or not?

        Ok I found one review.

        http://www.igeekphone.com/xiaomi-redmi-3s-vs-redmi-note-3-vs…

The 3s is really new so hard to find information on it. Same with the s430. The main advantage I think this has over the previous model is fast charging.

        • I was comparing the Redmi 3/3S to the Mi 4C. The older Redmi 3 uses a SD616 which is comparable to the newer 3S SD430. The Mi 4C has an SD808 which is significantly faster than both the SD616 and SD430.

        • Wasn't aware of fast charging. Something to note for potential buyers.

        • @d6d:

Yeah I'm asking for review links because I'm trying to find out information on the 3s. You said the camera and screen was worse based on reviews? Where you getting this info about the 3s

  • If performance is important the s808 is better than the s430. Some people prefer a 1080p screen over a 720p screen.

  • +10

    There lineup is so confusing.

        Over.. their I guess?

        • +9

I thought it was over they're?

@salem: i guess they'res no way we'll know for sure..

          What yous talkin bout?

  • Note 3 Pro minimum is USD 168.74. I guess the prices you mentioned starts from Tomorrow.

    • Correct, starts on the 7th. Probably not first thing in the morning taking into consideration time zones.

  • Sale model for Mi4c and Redmi Note 3 is only 2G RAM/16GB ROM. Mi 5 & Mi Max is 32GB version and the sale price is good.

in case anyone is urgently after a phone - consider paying more for shipping. I purchased the mi5 from dreami just over a week ago. The item wasnt sent for a week (as in not even shipping consignment). They obviously deal with quite a large quantity of products and have great prices, but thought i would give a heads up on my process with them thus far.

I had seen other people (australian) mentioning getting their phones 5 days after ordering. Either they got lucky or paid the extra $20 for postage.

    Great prices, enjoy ! :)

    • Seriously, I ordered a mi4c from dreami 3 weeks ago, haven't had a tracking update for a week..

    • Same seller, mine was also "sent" a week after ordering. That was Saturday though, so nothing happened until today. Didn't pay express, but also asked for it sealed without global rom installed. People who got theirs express said they also waited several days for shipping.

Mine was the Redmi Note Pro Prime in dark grey. Not sure if it makes a difference as people mentioned theirs were sent after only 2 days. Or if seller only ships 1 or 2 days a week. Or if they don't always have as much stock as they say.

People who didn't order express seemed to be saying 2 weeks or less from when it was shipped until received, which is pretty good and I guess makes up for the slow processing a bit. I think they're sent from Hong Kong, which is quicker than from China.

      • +5

I asked why my shipping was taking so long..
Response from dreaming: it is ready in the warehouse waiting for courier pick-up..

Seems like they do bulk pick-ups from their warehouse to save costs

        • I ordered mine from the "Xiaomi Authorised Store" last Friday and on Saturday it was marked as "sent". I paid for DHL.

DHL still shows it as "Shipment information received" and the item is still sitting in Hong Kong, hasn't actually been picked up after 2 days.

Fairly annoying considering the point of paying for DHL was to get it ASAP so something for other buyers to be wary of.

        • This vendor has updated my shipment information twice. i.e. I am now onto my 3rd DHL tracking number.

The first one never worked (DHL site had no info).

The second one was dated 2 July but was never picked up.

The third one is dated today and is waiting for pickup.

I'm starting to wonder if they are doing this deliberately so they can mark the item as "sent" to meet their advertised processing time but without actually sending anything.

        • @goosmurf:

Hmm.. My DHL tracking number they gave me yesterday also came up as no info. Which vendor is this?

        • @noone: The "Xiaomi Authorized Store" which is quite a new account.

          http://xiaomi-mi.aliexpress.com/store/2178148

          Who'd you buy from?

I thought I'd take the punt to encourage a newer Xiaomi vendor since Aliexpress will cover the financial risk (they'll refund the money if the product doesn't arrive/match the description).

Technically they're still within their 5 business day processing time but it's worrying that they've posted 3 different tracking details, none of which have actually shipped.

        • @goosmurf:

I got mine from "Hong Kong Goldway", which has a lot of good feedback.

          http://goldway.aliexpress.com/store/311331

I've sent them a message asking about the invalid tracking number but haven't got a reply yet. Did you message the seller before they gave you a different traking number? Or did they just change the tracking number on the order?

        • @noone: They changed the tracking number twice on their own.

On the 3rd tracking number they finally messaged to say "oh this is the correct number".

The weird thing is both the 2nd and 3rd tracking numbers worked on the DHL site, and both had my suburb correctly showing.

That seems to imply that they had to cancel the 2nd tracking number since it was actually registered with DHL.

The 1st number just never worked.

Oh well, tonight will mark the end of the 5th business day so I will open a dispute if it hasn't moved by then.

        • @goosmurf:
Be cautious opening a dispute now. I believe you can only open 1 per item? If they send it, cancel the dispute rather than close it as completed if possible. If you can't don't close it in case you have problems when it arrives or if it doesn't arrive. Might be worth Googling for more info, as I only read briefly about this, but apparently it's a tactic to mess around with posting and then you open a dispute and can't open another one later.

        • @Miss B: Hey thanks for this tip, much appreciated.

It definitely feels like something dodgy is going on.

They're now well past their stated processing time (5 business days), and the DHL tracking code has a "shipment information received" date of Monday 4 July, yet the item still hasn't actually been picked up.

I wrote to them and said I'd open a dispute and they then offered to refund me the DHL fee. But I don't give a crap about the money, I just want them to do their job and ship the item.

I think I should open a dispute though coz I'm guessing they're probably doing the same to tens if not hundreds of other customers so they should feel some pain for it.

        • I tried to open a dispute just now and Aliexpress' system says I can only open a dispute 10 days after the shipping date.

It'll be interesting to see whether that is 10 days after the first time they said it shipped (2 July), or 10 days after the most recent shipping label (4 July).

I hope they can't just keep changing the shipping label to reset the 10 day dispute window…

        • To wrap this up, I have received my phone, finally.

          Timeline of events:

Thursday 30 June: order placed, paid for DHL.

Saturday 2 July: order "sent". Tracking number is invalid (doesn't work on DHL's site).

Sunday 3 July: order tracking number is silently changed. Works on DHL's site.

Monday 4 July: order tracking number changed. Seller sends me message informing me of new order tracking number. Works on DHL's site.

Package sits in "shipment information received status" until…

Sunday 10 July: DHL picks package up.

Tuesday 12 July: delivered to my door.

I don't understand why there's such a long delay for DHL to pick up the shipment but something for buyers to be wary of if you're expecting things to be quick.

I can't help but feel like they are trying to game the Aliexpress system. It would appear to the system that the item was shipped "quickly" (so they can blame the carrier for delays) when in fact it just sat in their warehouse for a week.

        • @goosmurf: 26 of june I ordered… Hasn't hit Australia yet, according to the tracking.. it also doesnt mention it leaving the country specifically… im just hoping the tracking is really bad and it just pops up tomorrow at my door. :\

wish i had paid for DHL now.. my current phone screen is getting worse.

Last movement :"2016-07-04 15:17:17 Successful departure from Warehouse" with my singapore post tracking number.. :\

http://s.aliexpress.com/2uyYZzMJ - $223 (gold) (after using the stores $2.70 free coupon)

      • Your Deal seems to be a 20% off sale for Dreami, and AFAIK the Prime is just the 3GB/32GB version, so one would think the Gold and Silver White (no Dark Grey) Note 3 Pro Primes would also be available for US$170 during the sale, through your Note 3 Pro link.
        Perhaps also mention cashrewards?

I got this Redmi Note 3 32gb/3gb and I have been well impressed. Note this deal is the 16gb/2gb and I am sure the rom / unlock stuff is exactly the same but do your own research.

The stock MIUI wasn't the greatest but after trying one of the many available I ended up on this rom and everything is fantasticly reliable stock android on a very capable device for the money I got in my ashtray.

The MIUI -> KREXUS rom process was kind of annoying but I think if you have ever opened cmd.exe and typed something beginning with either adb or fastboot successfully I think you should be able to do it. I messed it up and only had to spend 20 minutes reading xda stuff to find an easy way to recover from my soft brick.

I have ran on a LG G3 for the past few years. For the first few days I missed the improved screen resolution of the G3 and I don't camera much but my understanding is that if you need a good camera the Redmi Note 3 is not for you.

Please give us some NFC and wireless charging but if Xiaomi can keep this up as much as I loved my G3 I won't be doing the $700 again if the Chinese got me covered.

Although it won't help, I expect a more respectable amount of whingeing with these phones (like on Whirlpool, http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2544841).

Without 700 MHz support you'll theoretically have less indoor and bushy coverage with both Optus and Telstra (https://www.amaysim.com.au/mobile-plans/4g/700mhz).

Although few phones worldwide support 4GX Category 9 anyway (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_devices_with_LTE_Advan…), I would hate to spend $419 on the Xiaomi Mi 5, which despite being an amazing 4GX Cat 9 phone doesn't support band 29 (700 MHz) and won't take advantage of Telstra's impressive 4GX (Cat 9 or even Cat 6) speeds (…when it works) now or in the future (https://www.telstra.com.au/coverage-networks/telstra-4gx).

And I believe Xiaomi Mi 5 and Mi max are the only phones in the line-up that have NFC, but you won't get many phones in Australia that have NFC at sub-$200 prices. I don't have NFC now but I think many phone-nerds will be adopting it over the next year.

    • +1

xda devs are working on unlocking the band 29 on the mi5.. havent checked back to see how that is progressing though.
xiaomi still haven't released the kernels, so may be a stalemate.

There were some positive signs early, but i wouldn't bank on it being successful.

    • +1

Can confirm the MI max doesn't have Nfc. Can't find it anywhere on the setting, doesn't respond to nfc tags.

      • +2

        Nooooooooooooooooooo :(

  • Hi Guys, if I get the Redmi Note 3 Pro, will it be all good to run with global ROM or whatever is needed to be able to access all the google services?
Also do they work well with Telstra network?
    Thanks!

    • +2

you wont have 700mhz coverage: Qill still be decent imo, unless you're in a poor coverage zone.

Theres a few hoops to jump through to change roms, but if youve gained root access and had a play with roms in the past you wont have too many issues. If not, there's always a first time!

Youll obviously forgo any warranty you once had also, not that you're buying a chinese phone online for after sales support ;)

      • +1

Thanks! I've got a Moto E now, and the specs on it state it doesn't have 700mhz and I don't have an issue with it so should be all good.

Are there any suppliers that supply the correct ROM installed? I would rather a phone I can pull out of the box and use… (not that I'm slack or anything ;)

        Thanks

        • +1

People have said this seller, Hong Kong Dreami, installs the Official Global Stable Rom (They also say they do in their FAQs in the middle of the listing). If you're getting the 3gb/32gb version they don't seem to be the cheapest though.

          1. Does it have Google Play and Multi-language?
Yes, it does. If you don’t ask for factory firmware, we need to open the box and install official global firmware. This firmware can be updated.
        • +1

@Miss B: Cool. Thanks. So to confirm, this will work like a standard updatable android phone if I opt for Hong Kong Dreami to install the Official Global ROM? Sorry to ask so many questions, don't want to buy a phone and be stuck with the restrictive Chinese ROM :) Thanks everyone for your help :)

        • +1

          @j05h:
It will still be MIUI so it will be a bit different to Android, though it is based on Android. Several comments on the last deal indicate that it comes with the Official Global Stable Rom and will update in a similar way to Android (it will notify you there is an update and ask if you'd like to install it, rather than messing around with flashing ROMs etc.).

Really good prices, nice one OP.

Listen up peeps, there is a redmi note 3 available for sale on Aliexpress that supports band 28(700). It was announced last week and will be released in two weeks time.

    http://m.aliexpress.com/item/32683398479.html?productId=3268…

    It's around $220.

    • +2

I remember reading about someone toying with a different model phones modem files and flashing onto the Redmi Note 3. So with a bit of luck everyone can unlock the extra bands. I'd rather the 32gb with 3gb ram than this for the price with the extra bands included.

    • Do you have link to the announcement.

    • Will there be a 32GB/3GB Ram version of this? If not is there likely to be a noticeable difference between the 2Gb and 3Gb Ram versions? This model has a SD card slow I believe so memory would not really be an issue for me.

    • Is there going to be an announcement for this version going on sale? Should i keep an eye on Ozbargain - am keen to get the Band 28 version!
Would also like to know about a 3gb version pls

  • Warranty on AliExpress guys????

Is it worth taking the risk and buying at this site?

    • +3

This store has an excellent reputation. Coupled with alipay buyer protection you have nothing to worry about. I'm sure many users here can vouch for this. The key is researching the store (reading reviews from other buyers, and viewing how many items sold) before making the purchase.

Warranty will be difficult, best bet is to contact the seller/store asap should the item be faulty or arrive damaged. They will generally try to sort something out (send it back, part refund). Xiaomi doesn't allow international warranty/servicing/repairs (postal) and you would need to physically take the phone to one of their service stores. Unless you know someone in China who you could send the phone to do organise this, it is the risk involved. Another option could be to get it repaired locally in Australia (there are plenty of Chinese phone repair stores in our shopping centres who may be happy to help)

      • +1

So basically no warranty for the Aussie. No deals!

        • +3

The way I see it, if I was to take my $200 to jb, big w, whoever, to buy a phone, I'd be getting something fairly basic/slow compared to one of these. Generally if it was to be faulty it would happen out of the box, in which case you can dispute and refund.

        • -7

I wouldn't buy anything without warranty. Even if it's $10 is still too much.

        • +2

@PW: not if you consider that with this price it only needs to work for a year to be well worth it (in comparison to a $500 phone). And from people's experience with xiaomi, it's going to last a lot longer than that.

But, to each their preference! :)

        • Generally if it was to be faulty it would happen out of the box

That's not always the case because problems will come after a few months time. Check this buyer from another popular seller on Ozbargain.

        • @Rick Sanchez:

not if you consider that with this price it only needs to work for a year

Paying $200 on a cheap phone only last a few months are no bargains.

Read this before buying the Mi 4c

I bought the 32GB/3GB Mi 4c in November 2015 and since early 2016 I have been experiencing the bug in this video where if you are touching the edge and using more than 1 finger, even hovering, the screen does funky business - in my case intermittently going back to the previous screen. The issue has been raised three separate times on the en.miui.com forum with plenty of posts sharing similar stories but with no response from Xiaomi [1 , 2 , 3 ].

I am not sure if this bug has been addressed by Xiaomi in later versions but if you are going to buy I would recommend doing your research first.

Nothing else really to complain about the phone though, apart from the infuriating screen everything else is schmick.

My xiaomi mi 3 did this on several occasions. Completely wiping and starting clean solved this. Different phones obviously and you may have already tried this, but just an idea. Sounds like a faulty screen perhaps?

    • Hey just wondering - did you use the mi 4c straight out of the box? i.e. no need to root/unlock bootloader/install custom ROM?

So you're happy with everything about it except for the funky screen thing?

I didnt like the MIUI rom mine came with. So i've installed CM13. So far so good.

  • Thank you. I am super keen on the Mi MAx
