    Sooooo Telstra, any time now

      A comedian eh? I like you :)

    • Apple Music access does not count towards the data for post paid plans with Telstra from memory and has 6 months free access.

    • cdaddy Optus and their affiliate Virgin are doing this as a counter-offer to Telstra's Apple Music

  • Now looking for 3 months free Spotify code.
Never see Pandora codes posted here.

    • Just use Google Music. Upload all your CDs, it's free and voila.

      • Google Music is not free it is a paid subscription. At least Spotify and Pandora have free options with ads and Subscription options. Google Music doesn't do this.

        • +4

Yes but what YellowKnight is saying is to upload your existing collection and listen to your existing collection for free.

      hey dude.

SIgn up through Chromecast app and you get 2months free sub to spotify

    • i jumped on the deezer offer. i think its better than spotify!

This isn't your first time posting though :/ your last one was 8 years ago :P

    • Wow!

    • +1

      Haha. Didn't remember posted that!

      deceptive post ;-p

      • Yep, liar liar pants on fire. NEGGED! (j/k)

  • +3

thanks. you need to opt in for the marketing thing before you can see it and add to your account

    • this! Once activated you can opt out again.

Vodafone, are you observing the perks offered by competition.
Optus offers Netflix data free :)

    • Waiting for them to add something similar too.

    • Please vodafone!

      • I think they are going mad. Plans changed to either give data or international calls or music. When competitors are offering almost everything

  • Thanks MrPickle just added to my account and signed up to iheartradio

  • Awesome!
I just want to confirm that post-paid are the types where they normally bill you after each month?

    • Nevermind, the offer was available to claim so my question has been answered.

  • I can't see these rewards on my account

      • Can't see it either…it should be under "rewards" tab right?

And yes I have opt in.

        • yes, what plan are you on?

        • @dynamike:

          I'm on $40 10gig plan
I opted in but still can't see it

        • @sakinah: Looks like it's working for most people on this or the similar plan from a few months ago. Are you definitely on postpaid? If so, I'd contact Virgin.

        • @dynamike:

Thanks I chatted to them and they added it

Google Play users can change their streaming quality to high (320 Kbps). This is an awesome reward!

    • +1

didn't know there's that setting, thanks!

  • Thank you - wouldn't have known about this without this post

  • +3

That's awesome, but I must say after four years of being with virgin though their customer service is pretty terrible. I'm sure that is largely the case for all telco's, however I think i'll definitely be changing to a cheaper sim only plan.

    • Agreed, I've had nothing but trouble from them. 2 years ago when I signed up, I was with Lebara for a short time (in order to get the data bonus from Virgin) and their customer service was actually amazing. I'm going back as soon as my contract expires.

As much as I like free stuff, this trend away from net neutrality is concerning.

    • +1

Yeah it would be better to just see 'free streaming services' in general, or a facility to add what you want to stream for free (e.g. server/port) and if the data stream matches then it lets you stream for free…

Ideally we'd just have unlimited data plans as an option, with a speed cap (i.e. not full 3G/4G speeds but capped to say 1Mbit/s)

  • Assuming the current offers on their website are expired ("Offer now ends 29 Aug 2016"), those old offers seem to be better than unlimited music streaming.
e.g. $40 sim only plan has 3GB included data, but until 29 Aug came with 10GB data

I can't imagine there are many people to stream music so heavily that unlimited Spotify worth more than 7GB data.

If I were in the market for a new plan I would go with 10GB over 3GB + free streaming.

    • It's good for anyone already on the $40+ plans. Otherwise, it would be better waiting for the 10GB $40 plan again.

      • But the link says this is only for "new" plans, so it would seem that anyone that signed up on the 10GB/$40 plan, for example, wouldn't get the free music streaming.

        • Read again under existing users. Just activated mine. Thanks OP.

        • It's for existing customers too.

You just have to opt in by logging into your 'My Account', will be there if you're on a plan $40 or higher. Worked for me this morning and I'm on an existing 10GB $40 plan.

        • @starburstyellow: Cool. Very good for people who signed up with that extra data then.

  • +4

if only YouTube was on that list. Thats all i do on the train

    • We would bleed that YouTube dry!

  • so, i can switch my streaming and download quality settings in spotify for iphone to'Extreeeeeeeme'?

    Awesome if thats the case!

    • Just noticed, under 'whats not included' it says song downloads. So does that mean downloading a song to play offline through the app is not included? how could they differentiate that!

      • If this is the case, I will feel better about just re-signing with Vodafone. I download pretty much everything I think sounds alright on first listen, then delete later if I lose interest.

      • +1

Confirmed - does not include the song download feature, according to Virgin Tech Support Rep

Sarah: It does not include the 'download song' feature. It is strictly for music streaming. IF you download/save a track, data usage charge will apply.

Sarah: The App itself should tell whether you have downloaded or streamed a song.

  • I got Optus 15GB for $50 with free streaming. It doesn't get better than that I'm afraid.

    • But won't be on 512kb tho.

      • +1

I thought they provided max 512kbps which was the minimum needed to stream 320kbps.

        • +1

I'm pretty sure they do. And even if they don't, I'll gladly exchange a little bit lower quality music streaming for more data.

      • spotify only streams at max 32kbps though…Virgin only got this deal because of their parent-company Optus

    • Spotify Extreme quality is 320kbps and the max allowed for data free on optus is 512kbps…

You can really hear the difference when using extreme it's great.

  • +1

    Ah, competition.

Just what the home improvement industry needs.

  • Cheers OP

Was hoping for something like this

  • Great news, thanks OP

  • Awesome, thanks OP!!

  • Does anyone know if this appears as "Music Streaming" if applied under the "SERVICE AND EXTRAS" heading?

It wasn't in my rewards section of my account and I had marketing activated so unsure if they auto applied it to my account?

    • Says "Music Streaming added" on mine if that helps.

  • Thanks OP! What to do with the extra 5gb this deal just freed up…

    • now we've complaining about too much data available to us? this is a change! :)

  • Anyone know how soon this kicks in? I got the free steaming this morning, by opting in to marketing, clicked yes in extras then turned off marketing again.

Did refresh, my data usage went up . I'm steaming in high quality too!

  • Ah, if only soundcloud were on these free streaming promos

  • i just moved to canada. its amazingly worst here.

$80 for 1gb of data. unlimited talk and text (is okay i guess) local in my city only. outside i get charged both ways. yes, australia consider urself lucky.

This is a good deal if you want to spend $40 a month, but I feel a bit hard done to.

I can't use my mobile at work, and my friends and family are all on Virgin (free to call and text), so am currently on a grandfathered plan, paying $20pm (byo $30 plan), getting a mythical $200 credit (which I don't use up) and 1.2GB.

I was quite enjoying the Guvera extra 1GB, and just signed up for Spotify Premium when Guvera got cancelled.

The FAQ response of "if you want free streaming increase your plan to $40" is not very satisfactory.

    • How is it not satisfactory? You've got quite a good deal, for what you're paying. When a company like Virgin pays for something in order to provide for customers, whether that be paying fro exclusive deals, or writing off data like they have here, then it needs to financially viable. No brick and mortar telco offers a $20 monthly plan any more, because I believe it's no longer viable. So if they're barely making a profit (if any at all) why would they take a further hit by providing this for yourself and everyone else in the same situation?

Companies exist to make money, not to give things away for free; you get what you pay for.

      • How is it not satisfactory?

By virtue of the fact I'm not satisfied.

Companies exist to make money, not to give things away for free; you get what you pay for

Except when they do give things away for free, like the free 1GB, and the free streaming data. You aren't paying for them. That's the definition of free.

I acknowledge that these are free, and the company is well within it's rights to stop them; but I don't have to like it when they stop a service I've been accessing.

      • No brick and mortar telco offers a $20 monthly plan any more

Except Telechoice does, and they have stores.

  • What's does your data show on the Virgin app?

One screen says I'm over, another other says I'm under.

Pretty sure it's because it counts Spotify data plus other data but just wanted to check
