Got it via TGG deal - not perfect (no direct button to select specific hdmi port for example), but no major issues so excellent value.

    • +3

Won't matter to people using an AV reciever.

      • Unless you also want to watch FTA via the TV, for example. If it's always on (say) HDMI1 then yep, no problem.

  • Looks interesting, 58", 100Hz,4k,smart TV, only lacks 3D.

    • +4

      and HDR :P

      • whats HDR?

      • +1

Wasn't there some issue with Australia not getting the HDR update with people having to download a Euro version, which caused some issues?

That and that fact that Hisense's version of HDR is not actually HDR certified and it's just their own take it.

        • +1

If you're talking about PlayStation i don't think the update is actual HDR. It's some shitty thing which only works on menus. There was an article about it at DigitalSpy or something if you're interested. If you want actual HDR i recommend Xbox One S :D

        • @Iggemo: Huh, who was talking about consoles?

I was talking about the Hisense TV this deal is about.

        • Not sure if this model is meant to have it. The m7000 range does via software update from Hisense which is available.

        • @Xizor: I've read of people saying they've downloaded the HDR update for this model but it was a Euro version as it was never released here. My point was more so that even if there was a HDR update for this TV, it's not a TV I'd be buying for that feature alone as Hisense TV's are not true HDR and are under the minimum specs for HDR10.

        • Yeah cool fare enough. Never used that TV but makes total sense especially since not advertised as having. HDR on the m7000 which i went and inspected today i understand is not actually spec complaint not being 1000 nits (brightness is it? not sure) looked plenty bloody bright to me when i gave it a going over in an already bright store. Picture was exceptionally good imo. Had to seriously restrain myself from buying this arvo on ebay.

        • @Jonesy7707: Good HDR is also heavily dependent on the source, XB1S is widely reported to provide a better source than some standalone players.

        • @Xizor: The M7000 is great value for money and without comparing it side-by-side with some of the panels that are $2000+ most people would be impressed with what it can do but only being 400 nits vs 1000+ for the (much) more expensive models, there is a pretty big difference.

        • @StewBalls: Of course but when the panel is having to map a HDR10 source it can look rather off, which is the main reason I stayed clear of M7000 as HDR is important while it may not be for plenty of others.

        • @Jonesy7707: But you asked for the relevance of the console reference, now you have it…

        • @StewBalls: The poster asked if I was talking about the PS4, I said no and that no one was talking about consoles. Consoles and/or 4K UHD players were not being discussed at all.

        • @Jonesy7707: Well… I was comparing it side by side (well, turning my head to be precise) and the difference between the Hisense, Sony, and Samsung was… well, it was not big. In fact, for some content i think the Hisense looked better. Granted, i didnt mess about with the settings of ALL the TV's and i may not have had the right content to illustrate it (dunno what that would be though…) I did not pay any attention to any OLED panels. But I definitely wouldn't pay $2k extra for either the Sony or Samsung TV's based on the current models on offer and until today a TV from Hisense was not even on my radar.

        • @Xizor: I was only talking about HDR, not the picture in general. Anyway, we've gone well off-topic and I think one thing we can agree on is….Hisense offer very good panels at a very decent price!

    • +2

60 Hz with processing creating additional frames (presumably).

      • that's what they all do with all those 100hz, 200hz, 9000hz "motionflow" technologies ;)

  • Hmmm i haven't opened my Aldi 65" yet (even though they have 60 guarantee anyway), as I am about to move. Thoughts on swapping for this?

    • +2

This will be much better even if youre sacrificing a few inches. Have heard mostly scathing reviews of those with the aldi range.

      • +1

Hmm most reviews I've read were pretty positive though. This has smart tv functions and higher frequency though

        • Are talking about the recent 65" 4K UHD LED LCD TV which was on sale on 17/9/2016? Does it have smart TV function?

    • +3

Love my Aldi 65, awesome TV especially after custom tuning the display settings. Turns on super fast, the remote is really good and the UI is awesome. I can't fault it in any way.

I've been thinking about getting a 55-60 for my room but I'll wait for a Bauhn.

      • Thanks for the feedback!

        • I should mention that the scaling of SD TV isn't the best but it's still watchable. Haven't seen how other similar TV's compare in that regard.

      • can u share ur customs settings? i bought mine last weekend. thanks

        • +1

Here's the settings I applied for better picture quality:

          Contrast: 50
          Brightness: 47
          Saturation: 60
          Tint: 50
          Sharpness: 35
          Colour Temp: Warm
          Noise Reduction: Off
          HDMI mode: PC

You can access these settings by Press Menu and then 1147

  • My advice is to go to the store check it out yourself. Make sure you compare with other major brands like Sony, Panasonic, Samsung and LG.

    • +1

Where is your sony 60inch for under $2000 hahaha

      • +3

Mate, it's not Xmas yet so stop asking silly questions.

  • Happy with mine purchased last sale.
Only real complaint is time it takes to switch between channels.

  • Alternatively $40 postage (address must be set to NSW).

Nope, no postage and I'm in NSW.

Pickup only, even when I changed my postcode to Sydney it only showed pickup.

Edit: For those wondering, you can't set your default address to NSW then change it at checkout to bypass the NSW only restriction. When you change your address in checkout from NSW to elsewhere it will give an error "This seller doesn't post to your location. Change your address to continue."

      • Thanks Hamza, I appreciate your help.

It won't work though, it seems they must only deliver to certain postcodes.

I'm near Newcastle and although a local store has stock, it states: "The address specified in your cart is in a location that doesn't meet the seller's postage requirements. You can change the delivery address in your cart and try adding this item again, or contact the seller to request an exemption."

        • +1

Ah I see, I was trying with Metro NSW postcodes. I remember seeing a postage restriction on previous Bing Lee posts for regional areas, I think they must only be posting to Metro NSW then and they must consider Newcastle 'Regional NSW'. I'll play around with it a bit more today, sorry to hear it didn't work for you.

          Edit, eBay listing postage terms:

          Posting to: Australia
Excludes: Adelaide Metro, Brisbane Metro, Melbourne Metro, Northern Territory, NSW Regional, Perth Metro, QLD Far North, QLD Regional, QLD South East, SA Regional, Tasmania, VIC Regional, WA Regional, WA Remote, PO Box

  • Does this have HDR?

    • no

    • +2

at the price point people demand WAYYYY too much here

    • -3

This is a budget brand TV so no.

      • The range above this does.

  • Thinking to upgrade to 4k from my Sony 1080p TV. How useful is 4k if I don't have Netflix or 4k Bluray?

    • I suppose it depends what your TV now is really like. Mine is a FHD plasma so good picture quality, very good for sports etc. so a bit higher of a baseline than a lot of LED/LCDs people would be upgrading from. But, if you have Foxtel HD (so a decent portion of tv and sports watching is of decent source quality), AND if the TV has good upscaling, it can then be quite nice from what i have seen. I'm not sure how the upscaling this particular model is but the higher spec'd M7000 range is meant to be quite good. I just got back from checking out the M7000 range actually and would buy it in a heart beat if my current TV stopped working.

    • The only other reason to get 4K is gaming on yet to be released consoles I think … Youtube type content isn't a compelling reason.

    • -2

You'll likely see a big degrade in picture quality going from a Sony to a Hisense or any other budget branded TV. They're cheap for a reason.

      • I would not be so sure Yuri. Sony and Samsung have plenty of very average TV's out on the market. Hisense have come a long way of late. I have not looked at this model specifically but i did go inspect the range above this the m7000 range and was very pleasantly shocked. I reckon you would be too.

  • Brilliant TV in terms of value, got it last deal

  • Whens a cheap hd with her coming out, me wonders…?

    • cheap and HDR in one sentence, good luck to you
cheap means BAD QUALITY or corners cut

Aldi hit the mark with their latest 65 incher but no hdr

  • Thanks OP, bought one for my parents

    • +4

I wish I was your father.

      • -5

Wow… You want impoze to be Ur son for a cheapo TV?? …. Geeez… Atleast do it for a curved Samsung

        • +1

          will Samsung explode?

        • +1

          Curved.. hahaha… zero cred.

  • This price is a bargain. Good enough

  • I've already spent close to $1k this week alone… this is really tempting

  • The lack of HDR is a deal breaker for me.

  • Does anyone manage to contact Binglee and get the item shipped to other states? I would like to buy this item but my address locates in QLD.

    • Some users tried yesterday and no good. They won't post it outside of NSW, see comments here.

  • -4

You get what you pay for with these TVs. Hisense like Aldi, Soniq, Dick Smith or any other budget orientated TVs have noticeably worse picture quality over more expensive brands such as Sony, Samsung or LG. I've used an Aldi and Dick Smith TV over the years and couldn't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p among other things, the picture quality is that bad. They also lack many features found in more expensive TVs like 4:4:4 chroma subsampling and picture calibration options. I'd be more concerned about lacking those basic features before HDR, smart or 3D features. I would recommend checking it out in store before buying one of these. Personally I would never touch a budget branded TV. I'd rather pay the extra for a proper TV as I want a good picture even if that means sacrificing 4K for 1080p.

    • +5

Hisense is a respected multi-national company and they make decent mid to high quality TVs. They don't belong in the ALDI, Soniq, or DK television category.

    • +5

If I'm not mistaken Hisense are now a top tier company in terms of TV sales and are ranked 3rd/4th. I wouldn't call them a budget brand and certainly wouldn't put them in the same class as some of the brands you mentioned, nothing against those brands though.

Some of he Hisense models i.e M7000 can match it with the top brands at around $1000 cheaper but you're right in one respect, some of the more adavanced features like HDR are either not there or not up to specs to be certified.

Hisense would be a bang-for-buck TV offering a major upgrade at a fraction of the cost for a lot of people.

    • Ugh, not sure why i bothered responding to your other comment.. or this one. Clueless mate.

    • Ur about 5 years too late with ur warning. Unless ur planing to use this as a computer monitor you don't need 4:4:4 which isn't a basic feature! I've only had my monitor for about a year that does it! And look for this price does anyone really care?

  • +1

I bought this (I'm pretty sure this) tv around New Years from TGG, never once has the freeview feature worked. YouTube & Netflix work through it so it's not an internet thing, if I press the coloured buttons they just don't load. Anybody else had this problem?

    • +1

Try emailing Hisense for a firmware update and see if resolves?

    • +1

My mate said Stan won't work on his but Netflix does. Def some issues with software.

  • Any information if this has android? Thnx

    • It uses Opera Browser, so no.

  • For those that care about the SmartTV functions such media player there are quite a few issues around aspect ratio.
    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2488178

Also, 4 out of 5 4K mkv files that I tried would not work and resulted in the TV rebooting lol.

Otherwise picture quality is good for the price and I actually thought broadcast SD looked pretty good (in contract to comments above).

  • Have one of these, not a tv expert but it looks great to us. No gotchas i can think of

Ours has a 3 year at home warranty, thonk its standard but dont know about Bing Lee imports. The 3d looks terrific and extra glassrs are cheap on ebay.

    • Is this 3D?

      • +1

        It's not 3D

  • +2

I purchased this TV from HN for $998 and thought it was a bargain, at this price its a steal!

As someone mentioned above its a little slow changing channels and the EPG takes a while to load, other than that
the picture quality is good, upscaling with the Xbox One S to 4k looks really good.
Not ideal for PC gaming as it is only 4.2.0 chroma. Makes the picture somewhat fuzzy.

I don't use the Smart Tv function as I run an Android box that also has Kodi loaded.
4k streaming is also good ala Netflix and Kodi.

Best bang for buck 4K TV around.

    • Is there a game/PC mode or the like to help with the sampling?

      • Yeah there is a game mode in the picture settings. I also changed the name of the HDMI 2.0 port to PC.

  • So much debating and many up votes plus over 1K views, but only 10 units sold?

  • +1

Bought this TV few months ago … Absolutely amazing. Rich deep blacks, 4k upscaling, Netflix and YouTube buttons on the remote … Also have a Sony .. anyone suggesting this TV to be any less than the bigger brands hasn't seen this yet

  • How do I choose Click and Collect at Wodonga Vic 3689? It keeps saying "Do not post to your address"

    • +1

I think there is an issue with the listing, however I just checked click & collect and Wodonga 3689 isn't appearing, must be out of stock there or removed now sorry.

If you wanted to check, I got around it by changing address to 1 George St, Sydney NSW 2000. Making it default address, refreshing and then adding the item to cart for click & collect. Make sure you add your phone number to otherwise it doesn't seem to like it.

  • Can it run plex ?

    • my 55" came with plex preinstalled (they run OperaTV) .. works fine.

  • +3

I ordered around 12pm and got a call an hour later that it was ready to pick up at rouse Hill.

Set it up in a few minutes, changed settings to Avforum and it looks pretty good

Simple interface and having recording functionality with external drive is nice

Great TV at a great price

    • Plex?

      • my 55" came with plex preinstalled (they run OperaTV) .. works fine.

  • My local store 2350 appears in the listing but says out of stock. I'm going to call them this morning and see if they can do anything. I'll be a bit bummed if I miss out and only having a store just down the road.

  • +2

Tried to get JB HiFi to match it but it's an unknown model to them,,BUT did walk out with a Sony 55" 4K smart for $1101,
which I'm happy with. Not an expert at all on TVs but I kinda thought the Sony should be at least as good/better than the HiSense.

    • I doubt if JB would match a third-party promotion like the eBay discount.

    • hi, do you have a photo of the receipt i can use to buy the tv for same price? thanks

  • +1

    I'm in Qld BTW.

  • +1

Just bought it yesterday morning, 1 hour later was ready to be pickup.

And so far this TV is just awesome.

Plex is preinstalled and works fine, and Netflix on 4K is just awesome !

  • Hey a…… Has everyone received their TV's? I still haven't had any update from Bing Lee or eBay regarding when my order will be ready… :( I sad…

  • Has anybody managed to watch youtube in 4k? All the videos I picked supposedly 4k were showing as 1080p only.
    Anybody updated the firmware?
