  • any deals on the QC30?

    • +1

No QC30 in ebay yet, plus the review in amazon looks not good. Basically, the NC in QC30 is not as good as QC20 or QC35. https://www.amazon.com/Bose-Quietcontrol-Wireless-Headphones…

      • I thought the bigger issue was the mic.

        • Not sure. Some reviewer in youtube says the NC in QC30 is 50% better than QC20. I do not trust them, will test in the Bose store by myself.

      • +1

I reckon thats quiet control not quiet comfort.

Also you can get Audio technica ACN earbud which will perform almost as good as qc 20, cost around $70

    • A new listing. Can be C&C'd at WW for the voucher.
$450 for QC30… so no discount.

Edit: I thought TRS was 90 days… I wont be able to claim back on these if i buy it now… (its only 60?)

  • +10

2016 model? There's only one model afaik since it only came out a few months ago.

      • +3

that's genuinely confusing. honestly better without it.

      • Yes, so it's redundant. There's no other model.

      • +3

Why stop at year? Go down to the month it was manufactured. But why stop there?

        • +3

DOB of the person who assembled the product together?

        • +1

@michaelTito: and what they ate the night before going to work please!

  • If I leave the country can I claim GST back on this?

    • +28

yes but I would suggest that you should have other reasons to leave the country

      • +2

        :-)

      • +5

        Internet speed in Australia

    • Actually I have claimed the GST through TRS multiple times myself in the past however the items where still in the original packing (gifts for my little sister) but I'm wondering can you actually have the item unpacked already in use around your neck when they ask you to declare it?
Shouldn't be a problem, should it? Just had a moment of aha, emmmm, not sure!!

      • +1

        should be fine

      • +1

Yes u can. I claimed my iPhone 7. It was unpacked

      • +1

I claimed my Apple Watch that I was wearing at the time (and didn't have the packaging)

      • +1

You can for sure, I claimed my Bose headphones while wearing them back in July, I just had to have the receipt with me (I hear a photocopy of the receipt is fine too), also claimed a tablet which was also out of packaging

  • Damn bought at the other place for $11 more.

  • +1

Damn you OzB - why tempt me. I am happy with my QC15s (so I have to keep telling myself)

  • +1

Thanks!! $340 (with cash rewards) makes it one of the best prices I've seen :)

  • If anyone finds a sub $100 noise cancelling headphone, that will silence plane engines (thats ALL it needs to do) I'm interested.

    • +5

Too soon for a Note7 joke?

      • +1

        The Note7 is a joke!!!

    • +1

Bluetac… or increase your budget to Bose. That's about it.

      • Really?
I've found a few sony's that claim to remove a fair bit of noise.
Some Juboury Solace Pro's sound pretty amazing in reviews.
        Also had AudioTechinca recommended.
Why do you compare Bluetac to Bose? Would you imagine they're only about as effective as each other?

My parents are going on a flight. They will likely only ever get one use, 4 hours each way, do you really feel buying Bose is worth it?

I guess it only comes to about $600 to get Bose, but it feels like a lot for one flight.

        • Bose are the leader for a reason. I suppose for the limited use as you have described and coming from starting point of nothing then what you have described would be good bang for buck options. I never tried the Juboury but at the price point they could be OK if decent. I'll never get on a plane again without my Bose though and i certainly couldn't trade down to any lower performing NC but i use them often too.

  • +6

Please anyone finds a good noise cancelling in-ear headphone, that will silence missus's engines at night(that's All it needs to do) I'm desperate~~

    • +5

      just use her pillow

    • there are tongue strips that let you last longer.

Maybe stop her needing to turn her engines on in the first place :P

      • +1

thanks mate, tried but not working, 92% success rate but she is the one in 8% category. :(

  • Waited for 2 days and finally bit the bullet, hopefully there's no cheaper than this before 24th!

  • So, apologies for sounding stupid but how much can I get the QC35s for?

    • $447 minus TRS if you can get it.

      • Oh, it's for 'tourists'?

        • +1

          short answer, no.

        • +1

It's $447, but you can get a $100 eBay voucher for a near-future purchase. You still have to spend $447 to get these headphones, regardless of any incentives.

        • @tomkun01:

Thanks for that. A good deal if you're looking to buy something else on eBay soon after. Unfortunately I'm not.

        • +1

          @gasman70: yea i can't think of anything i need, and i already have qc25s.

        • @tomkun01:

Same here Tom. If they were going for $350, I'd consider them but the wireless ability over the QC25s is hardly worth forking out the cash……but this place makes you do silly things!

  • I got flagged by ozbargain as a sockpuppeter for this deal. I must post a lot on qc35s.

Anyone have any ideas on what to spend the$100 voucher on?

    • I'll spend my $100 at TGG.

      • +1

        Anything worth buying?

        • LOL

  • +2

Great price for a great headphones!

  • +1

These things are like eneloops. I don't think I'll be able to hold out much longer. Would be the odd one out at the ozbargainer convention.

    • These things are like eneloops

      I'd prefer 40 pairs of QC35 tho…

  • Anyone see a good deal on QC25 taking advantage of this eBay voucher deal? The QC35 has a non-removable rechargeable battery and is reported to sound pretty poor via it's wired connection while unpowered.

edit: some discussion in this deal= https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/271059

    • All models sound poor when unpowered compared to powered, at least to me. It makes a real difference even on QC20!

    • I have QC25 and would like to upgrade. Wireless is totally worth it for walking around the house. And yes, both QC25 and 35 sound very underwhelming when not powered.
The non-removable battery would still last you 3 years of heavy use.

Wait for after the US Election. If Trump is elected, their dollar will fall and these will be even cheaper.

    • +1

Shit I didn't realise that that's a possibility. Well spotted

    • +2

I am not exactly rooting for him, but I am totally gonna shop like crazy if he gets elected and our dollar goes back to parity. I have a stack of stuff I want at startrek.com (don't ask)

      • This is why the World votes for Trump

        • And Brexit was the best thing to happen for shopping in the UK…

    • +1

If you look at the electoral college map, there's no way he can be elected. I'm not saying it's impossible (few things are) but I would say it's not worth delaying your life based on this infinitesimal chance.

    • Either way they're (profanity). No one wants giant douche neither turd sandwich

  • +7

I bought these with a reluctant wallet back in July before my Europe trip. Long haul flights will never be the same for me. These make flying so much more comfortable, the moment you take them off the engine sounds feel like a tornado around you…

    • +2

feel like a twister around you…

    • Youcan combine it with ACN earbud or gr8 isolating iem earphone like shure. Will silence even much more noise

      • +1

Then you can't listen to music…

The excellent NC on these headphones coupled with decent sound quality (compared to historical Bose headphones) makes for comfortable flying in itself…the "pressure" on ears due to NC is also mininal.

        • I reckon you misunderstood me. What I mean is when you have a really noisy loud sound there is even better option to supress the noise.

If you wear both of them and just Use QC 35 only for ACN feature + Shure / QC20 for the main sound I reckon you can even minimize even more noise if you want to sleep or concentrate

        • +1

          @rodinthink:

Ah I see…that sounds like a good idea. I stand corrected, apologies if I came across the wrong way :)

  • +1

Agreed they are incredible BUT please be aware you can get these at the Qantas store using 68,000 points now - which makes it an equivalent price (comparing with, e.g. Woolworths Gift Cards) of under $400!

    • Can you possibly explain the maths on this one? How does 68000 pts = under $400 compared to woolies cards? (Not criticising, genuinely curious.)

      • $250 WW Gift Card = 43,850 points

        $250 * (68,000 / 43,850) = $387.68

Here's the link to the QC 35's
        https://store.qantas.com/Catalogue.a2?Page=ViewProduct&Produ…

        • Ah ok thanks. I guess I find it hard to use gift cards to compare since they are IMO poor value on their own.

          But still tempting :P

        • Not a bad idea… but nearly the equivalent of 2x return flights from Perth to Melbourne in points. They're definitely worth more than $200ish each.

        • @TheZohan:

          Apples, Oranges
IF you can find a seat that your points can buy that's at a time suitable for you; and even then you'll also pay for taxes, fees and carrier charges.

You're still right that flights are most efficient use of points.. but - fly to Perth twice, or get a pair of QC35's? I know what I'd choose! :P

        • +1

@blackfrancis75: yeah of course! T'was just showing my own mental working out on what to do…

I'd have to fly to Perth on one of the legs given I live there :-P

        • +1

          @TheZohan:

72k points gets u a business class upgrade to LAX for around $4k or 5k value :)

I always use business class upgrades as my yardstick for QFF points hehe. Which makes if very difficult to spend points on the qantas store :/

        • @Skramit:

          $4K or $5k "value"?
Amongst the things you should consider in that calculation would be: is the Business class upgrade worth $5000 if you were paying with your own cash? In my own experience, I'd say no way in hell

        • +1

@blackfrancis75: true…. but thats the price of business class so hard to argue with that when factoring in to value of qff points.

    • Too late

why, oh why is there an 'edit' function but no 'delete' function??

  • Wireless?

    • +1

      Invisible wires. Magic.

      • how does this contraption work?

    • they can work in wireless mode (BT) or you can use the bundled wire…battery life in wired mode is much longer.

  • Does anyone know when the QC 30 gets released here? Travelling overseas in 12 days and would like some noise cancelling head/ear phones but I prefer ear phones over head phones

    • Its already released.
See here for the only ebay deal for it.
Unfortunately, priced at $449 it is higher than the QC35…

      • Ohh thanks, it's only $2 more than the QC35, not significant considering the total price

        • Its itching at me, but i just found out that TRS is 60 days, not 90 days. I leave the country on the 30th dec, so I cant claim back on tax if i buy it now. Gotta wait for another sale before then hopefully.

        • @ATangk: I'm sure something will come up, it only just got released. Just purchased it, thanks for the link

  • +2

    It's cheaper here, $446:

    eBay

    • My 98.5c?! Nooooo…. Why does this happen to me! ;-)

      Good price! Keep going down!

    • Sellers compete against each others.I think when OP posted the deal,it was lower.

    • nice, i just saved 98.5c. and for some reason there's a 10% off on my ebay account. winning

  • +1

ahhhh I eneded up bought this headphones :(

  • Do these lag when watching movies?

  • +1

I'm getting caught up in the excitement of all these QC35 (and 25) deals but have not yet succumbed. Any die-hard Ozbargainers keen on the challenge of convincing me I really should get a pair? The best use-case case I see for myself is long international flights. If I flew regularly alone it would be a no-brainer. However, we generally fly overseas only once every 2 years and I always do those with my family (wife and 3 young kids). We are doing 2 such flights in December. I reckon the 'best in class' QC noise cancelling is probably not a good idea as I need to be able to hear the kids and my wife. (Although we're flying economy so will pretty close together anyway :-)). I bought 3 pairs of the recent COTD Sony wired NC headphones at $50 each - to share between us. My previous experience on flights is the ability of powered headphones to amplify the volume makes a big difference, and the on-ear / over-ear fit also helps - and although the NC on the Sony's will be nowhere as good as the QC's I'm guessing this is going to be good enough for us - and also enable us to hear each other if required. I didn't buy a 4th pair of Sony's as I thought I might buy a pair of QC's, but I'm thinking of just buying a 4th (one of the kids is a baby so don't need 5 - and the Sony deal is still active). I have a pair of (non-NC) Blue-Ant in-ear headphones which I use in 3 situations, for which I don't see a pair of QC's being a better alternative, viz - running, work commute (wouldn't want to be wearing and carrying full size headphones) and (hardly ever) watching movies in the lounge room while not disturbing the rest of the family (as my Sony AV Receiver is able to transmit to BT headphones). I'm curious re what most peoples' use cases are for these.

    • I wear headphones mainly to listen to audio books. As such, as well as on flights, I also wear them around the house while doing jobs, outside while doing gardening, including mowing the lawn, using a blower vac/whipper snipper/anything else that makes noise. Wireless will just add another dimension to my previous NC headphones in that there will be no wires to catch on stuff anymore. Looking forward to Tuesday when they're scheduled to be delivered!

      • Enjoy! Interesting - and thanks for sharing.

  • Annnnd I bought these after a noisy day at the battery hen pen they call an office….
