Optus Cable - up to $740 Welcome Credit

571

Optus is giving credits for new cable customers. Guy came to my door but I jumped online and did it with chat

The page says up to $740 which is on their higher plans but I took the basic plan and got a $500 credit with my connection fees waived. It's $80 a month but I pay $60 as I have mobile with them so it's basically 8 months free unlimited internet and some calls.

Great value

I am with Optus (only because of the Premier League) but wouldn't recommend it to anyone, super unreliable speeds.(SYD)

  • Anyone have any luck with snagging $500 welcome credit, connection cost waive and 2 free months? Optus consultant not budging.

    • Didn't have any problems earlier today.
Infact all i did was say im interested in cable and they told me about the 500 and free connection without prompting.
Didn't ask for or get 2 free months though

Thanks OP I'm on ADSL but in a cable area with no NBN.
Don't use loads of data so never bothered getting cable till now because of extra cost despite only getting around 3mb download speed on adsl which sucks.

Nothing to lose for me- even if/when optus cable is slow it can't be any worse than ive got now.

The $500 credit makes it the same price I'm paying for 100gig of ADSL now.

My 12 month telstra fone plan is up this month and my sony z1 is all but dead too.

So I've jumped on the other optus deal with the s7 for 65/month (which gets me 20/month off this internet deal)

Tied to optus for 2 years for fone and internet… but paying $480 less for home internet (which should be faster) over that time.
Plus getting an s7 for effectively $600 without paying upfront is a good deal for me.
    Cheers.

  • Optus doesn't even have cable at my place so thus deal is mot

I must be on a different planet optus. Dandenong area here and in the 20 months I've had Optus internet/fetch/phone it's only had one outage for about 4 hours and overall I'm extremely satisfied with what I pay and what I get.

Just did a speed test now (http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/5756936956) 99.32mbit … Average lowest speed test performance I've seen is between 30-50 mbit in the evenings and it can hit 105/110 in the early mornings.

It's unfortunate that so many other people are however having the complete opposite with horrific congestion and sub-par performance.

    • Yes, as per my comment back towards the beginning I too have had zero problems with Optus. Speedtests at around 99 or 100 most times but have sometimes noticed it drop back to around 70-75 but that's the lowest I've ever seen it. Extra bonuses include better 4G coverage than Telstra in a particular rural holiday destination we frequent plus lower bills so yeah I couldn't be happier with Optus.

  • Signed up today. When i asked about the $500 credit and $60 p/m (approx 8 months free), they pretend they knew nothing about it (usual BS). Put me on hold for a few mins and came back saying yep all good..spoke to my manager BS. BS. Forgot to ask about the 2 months free.

Getting it installed this week. Hope it's not worse than my ADSL.

    • Also managed to get 2 months free in addition to the $500 credit.
It was installed within 2 days of ordering and getting 60-80Mbps even in the evenings, so very happy

      • Is this with the speed boost applied?

    • I kept trying to get the 2 months free but no cigar :(

  • Great price for the $80 bundle, ends up been the same price as ADSL with line rental. I ordered directly via the website, didn't need online chat. The online chat didn't have any more offers other than trying to sign me up to mobile plans. So I didn't get speedboost or 2 months free.

I think if you are in the right area the offer automatically pops up (as it did for me). Last days to sign up though! Installation date is next Wednesday so it's fairly quick. My street's cable is super fast when I was with them last year and really reliable.

  • I found a code hidden on the signup page "CABLE2M" that gives 2 free months. I wonder if that's what some of the users above managed to get
