IKEA Ladda Rechargeable (LSD) 4xAA $8.99 / 4xAAA $7.99 (Excludes WA/SA)

490

I was looking for eneloops at good prices and discovered that the IKEA Ladda batteries are discounted for those with a family membership (free to obtain).

AA - http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/70303876/
AAA - http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/90303880/

I've done some research into this and let me just state that the conclusion is that these are the eneloop pros you are looking for. They are just as good as eneloop pros, both the AA and AAA. (http://lygte-info.dk/review/batteries2012/CommonAAcomparator…)

    What's the normal price?
The Aldi 4 pack AA or AAA rechargeable lsd batteries are $5.99.

If you look into the history of deals, you'll find that the Ladda batteries have more than twice the upvotes of the Aldi batteries in addition to no negative votes.

The previous deal was marked as expired so I don't know if it's the normal price or if it back on sale. In store it said today only but that was yesterday.

I'm letting everyone know about these amazing eneloop pro replacements and that the deal is back on/still on.

There is no literature done with the Aldi batteries. I also understand that there is a bias against the LSD batteries made in China, these are made in Japan.

      • +5

The negative vote by ca6leguy was because it's the everyday price. He comments later to say he has heaps of them & they work fine. It had nothing to do with the quality of the product.

Also judging any product as better quality by the amount of votes it receives is not a good idea. Depending on the time of day a deal is posted can sometimes determine votes.

So 'upvotes' is how you measure the quality of batteries these days?

Downvotes is how we measure the 'quality' of your posts JV so yes if you want to put it that way it is a good measure of the quality.

Id take the Ladda over Aldi. Ive not owned them, have way too many Eneloops and Fujitsu to buy more, but people I know know what they are doing have tested Ladda, and they test well.

      • +7

I tested some AA rechargables today with a LiitoKala Engineer LH-500 charger (using the NOR test & charged at 1000mA)

2 aldi AA LSDs -they claim to be 2400mAh

        1 - 2135mAh @ 1.35v
        2 - 2131mAh @ 1.39v

also tested 2 kogan AA rechargables- absolute shit - they claim to be 2500mAh
        1 - 780mAh @ 1.4v
        2- 717mAh @ 1.4v

minor note - these are batteries that have been sitting around (maybe used in a Wii controller), so may not have been cycled thoroughly. but the kogan batteries (free with a voucher) I've chucked. always have been crap.

        • For the price, that is close enough to their claimed capacity to be worth their price. I have 12 of these Aldi AAs and I have had 0 issues with them.

Good to see that you have tested these personally to confirm it.

        • +3

@CheapCoffee: tested another 3 Aldi AAs and got

          3 - 2138mAh
          4 - 2157mAh
          5 - 2349mAh <—- surprise.

        • @CheapCoffee: Actually it does nothing to tell you how they deliver current. And does nothing to tell you how many recharges they still deliver at the upper end of the current.

This is where Eneloops made in Japan outstrip Eneloops made in China. The Chinese charge well, they perform poorly and last nowhere near the number of cycles. But pop them in the average torch and they seem to go good.

        • @Tuba: Don't forget the Aldi AA 4 pack is $3.00 cheaper, so when they die you can buy another 4 pack for $5.99 & only be $3.00 worse off than buying one 4 pack of the Ikea ones.

          @altomic:
tested another 4 Aldi AAs (bought same day) and got

          6 - 2103 mAh
          7 - 2267 mAh
          8 - 2303 mAh
          9 - 2244 mAh

          capacity-wise they are decent.

    Thanks OP.

I must be one of the few OzBargain addicts who actually didn't buy enough eneloops over the last few years…

    • +3

i only have 2 AA eneloops.

    • +1

You can't be an OzBargain addict without buying heaps of LSD'S

      • +10

cool, that means I've been an ozbargain addict since I went to Uni in the 90s

  • Where are these batteries made?

    • +35

They're grown by monks in a mystical valley in the deep mountains of far western china, as has been done for 100's of years.

      • +3

Mate, even u posted a blank comment you still get 100 upvotes.

      • +4

China, Japan, all batteries look alike…

@AlexF: You might have missed something…

        • @Tuba: inane sarcasm?

        • +3

@AlexF: I agree. These are only available in White/cream. The rest of my house is decorated in eneloop tropical and Chocolat. These will upset my color scheme.

        • +1

          @newdad:
Just use colour them with sharpies and glitter :3

  • Isn't this just the normal price? It's been this price for a couple of months at least https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/263408

Appreciate that you want people to know about them being a good buy, but this sort of thing belongs in the forums, not in deals.

  • These are everyday price with membership. There's no time limit. So not really a deal

  • To help you navigate the huge, confusing maze of a store, these are located in the lighting section.

Thanks for this. I actually went there for a few things near closing time. I got conflicting directions from diff people and ended up at the checkouts as one person told me they are there. Well those batteries are primary, not rechargeable ones.

  • What happened to all the Eneloop deals?.

  • I tried to buy some of these in Adelaide last week, there are None in stock, one guy said a couple of weeks.

    • I tried to buy some today at Ikea Tempe and they were out of stock there too. They said the next shipment would arrive on the 5th of November.

      • Currently in stock at Tempe: 36

You just need to find them

  • Lada?

A guy is sitting at home when he hears a knock at the door. He opens the door and sees a snail on the porch. He picks up the snail and throws it as far as he can. A year later, there’s another knock at the door. He opens it and sees the same snail. The snail says, “What was that all about?”

  • Got some in the Perth store the other day.

  • i have driven to IKEA more than 3 times just for those batteries. And none has them in stock even when the website says it does……
and now a deal excluded WA……

    each drive take 40mins….

i know i couldve bought eneloop with the fuel cost already….but come on.
i like the design of this batteries.
i really wish the website stock check is accurate and IKEA do delivery….

anyone knows anywhere else to buy this and i can get it for sure? idc the discount….

    • Same issue.

It's incredibly annoying when the items listed as available, actually aren't in stock; particularly when it takes about 45mins drive to get to the Rhodes shopping centre/IKEA and you only get 3 hours free parking; which might not be enough if you get lost within Ikea or decide to eat, shop around, etc.
Also can't drive out before 3 hours and drive back in, as they record your licence plate and charge you full day rate if you attempt it.
However, parking is free if you enter after 6pm and exit before 12am.

    • Such a pity they dont post.

  • +1

I picked up some last week at Logan, QLD. There were a few boxes of each, though they had tonnes of the older version ones on the shelves with the sinage saying 'new'.
I noted 3 different mAh for the AAA. Take care and make sure you pick up only the newer higher mAh ones.

    Light lime green packaging.
White battery with black writing on them. (not the silver/green ones).
    AA - 2450mAh
    AAA - 900mAh

  • Was at Ikea yesterday and didnt see any LSD batts, just the normal yellow Alkaline ones.

  • These seem good value, given that any battery can go random - I've just had a Turnigy AAA die on me, and it's only been used in the bathroom scales in series with 3 others, only been charged about 5 times in a Maha Powerex MH-C401FS on slow charge.

        "Hi, Cold. I'm Steve…"

  • I just bought some eneloop pros and this post made me sad for a minute, then I realised that you can't buy online from ikea so I would have had to drive 40mins each way to buy some batteries which may or may not be in stock - so now I'm happy again that I bought some eneloops online which will be delivered by post.

  • Is the IKEA STORHÖGEN Charger any good @ $40 http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/20303647/

They also have smaller capacity AA $4.99 (1000mAh http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/20303874/) and AAA $4.49 (500mAh http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/30303883/) Handy for lower powered devices such as remotes

    • Looks like a decent charger if you want that many batteries to be charged simultaneously. Not sure if any one did serious testing on it though.

Otherwise, the occasional Nitecore deals are pretty good.

  • +1

wow… no expenses spared on styling

  • Has anyone else noticed that the eneloops and ladda batteries have short nipples?

    • you just need to tweak them to make them grow
