  • Maybe change title to something like Data Free Live Cricket for $15 per month or FREE on plans over $85 for Optus Mobile/Home Customers to be more descriptive

    • Or maybe just report to mods.. We don't need an argument on guidelines on every deal. This isn't parliament.

      • -2

This is a discussion , not an argument

  • -3

Stupid consumers think this is a good deal for them. Maybe in the short term.. but the same people will start complaining when they realise how important net neutrality is.

    • -1

when they realise how important net neutrality is.

So when you go fishing, you can catch all size fish equally ???

    • +3

But they aren't give cricket data priority, just not charging for it.

      • Exactly. Net neutrality is important but not relevant to this.

      • Exactly it giving the Optus Sport service an advantage over other services.

Lets say CarrierX offered free data for Apple Music but not Spotify.
You can't deny there is not an incentive for customers of CarrierX to use Apple Music.

Net neutrality is something invented by people with arts degrees for other ignorant people to believe in.

      • +2

Clearly you don't understand net neutrality.

Ensuring small start up companies can compete with the Netflix and Spotifys of the online world, allows competition and drives innovation. Two things everyone should be concerned about.

        • +1

In this metaphorical world of that arts degrees holders come up with packets have rights and so every packet must be treated equally or the world's unfair.

So when an ISP decides to deliver a free service the packets from this service are obviously getting un-faired against because no one is paying for them unlike all the other packets.

This is all justified because of competition and innovation - even though there is no competitor here other than piracy and anyone who is "innovating" is obviously using unlicensed content.

  • Free stream YouTube would be more attractive.

Optus has been streaming cricket data free and cost free for postpaid subscribers for the past two seasons.
Now we have to pay to stream the cricket; so it's not a deal.

Optus is the new Vodaphone of 2012

  • +2

I didn't stream the cricket last year anywhere near as often as I thought I would when I got the pass for free. Not worth $15/month this time around.

    • +4

Not worth $15/month this time around.

      Agreed

Not sure why TA didn't want to put the PRICE in the title though

Not sure why TA didn't want to put the PRICE in the title though

Probably to mislead people to click on his post thinking it's free, when they really have to pay $15

    • Same here, free was a good deal but didn't use it much. Nowhere near worth it for $15/month IMO.

  • +4

No point, 9 will have it In HD finally

  • Watching sport on mobile sucks.

    • +9

Virtually everything you post is a knock, a whinge or a complaint.

  • -5

So something that was free last cricket season now cost money is a deal?

Is free here with Optus Perks https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/269679
Which also mentions no data use.

    • That deal is for a pass to watch the games, this deal is different as it mentions that streaming is data free on certain plans. Also that is data free for select games, this is data free for all games. I didn't neg you btw

      • The streaming was data free last year too.

  • -4

You'd have to pay me to watch cricket.
