  • Duplicate? No. There's no Cruise deals for the Telstra store. There are no deals including the 5GB Bonus Data.

Can we use ALDI sim with phone?

    • +7

Out of the box = NO. Need to unlock to use anything other than a Telstra SIM (i.e. not even Telstra MNVOs will work).

I had an Aldi sim and bought this phone (from Auspost) last Friday and it wouldn't work. Thanks to some helpful posts on OzBargain I unlocked with a key bought here: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/321747695369. Very easy and I received the key within an hour of purchasing.

      • Telstra's Boost might work.

        • Interesting - if it did/didn't that would pretty much close the argument whether Boost is Telstra subsidiary or MNVO…

      • Yep Boost cards work in Telstra branded and locked 'phones - we had a Boost card in a ZTE Q Lux

Didn't work in mine , had to pay Bagman to unlock it .It was the Telstra Buzz 4gx phone about a year ago though.

  • Does this give access to Telstra Perks? Tempted to get one just to access NBL games on the cheap

    • +2

nbl games are FREE for all now

      http://pages.nbl.com.au/tv/

This phone is good for the spare charger and extra SIM to get some free Uber etc

      • Whaaaaat?!? When did this happen? Can I access them on my tablet as well as via their webpage?

EDIT Just checked the NBL page - Telstra gets access to all replays and older content so still a good deal to get the phone

Yes. And Telstra Air wifi, Apple Music, 200GB OneDrive storage.

Sold - just bought one :)

So tempted, but the 14 day expiry is so annoying.

It seems that the 3G is only 850MHz. Optus has no 850MHz, so you'd fall back to 2G if you unlocked this for Optus.

    • Vodafone does have 3G 850MHz fortunately.

      • not any more, vodafone refarm 850m for LTE.

How does it give 5GB free data when the phone cannot even use it i.e. not a smartphone. So how do people use the 5GB? chuck the sim in another telstra device? I have a Telstra locked 4G modem. Will that work?

    • Yes. That will work.

      • It's the phone that's locked, not the sim right? I've got an old Lumia phone I can use to stream music using the data, so if it's a matter of plugging the sim into that phone then I'll be very happy

        • +1

Well the SIM can only be used for Telstra but can be used in any device (mobile, tablet or hotspot). A SIM lock refers to a PIN that a person can apply to their SIM.

  • Is the 5gb only when you recharge?

    • No. 5GB upon activation.

  • phone charge via micro usb port?

  • Get 5GB Bonus Data when you activate on Telstra Pre-Paid Plus™
    Telstra Pre-Paid Plus™ -is a $30 prepaid plan.
All for use in Australia within 14 days when you activate before 11 January 2017. Recharge $30+ before the 14 day expiry period and any unused data will then roll over and expire at the end of the next 28 day period.

  • Shame this doesn't do Bluetooth. This would've been perfect as a non-smartphone.

The Telstra site just changed to $29, but when I placed the order it was $9 still (luckily!)

    • Looks like its $29 at Telstra and everywhere except Coles now?

Just FYI that although the credit expires in 14 days, the 5GB bonus data expires in 7 days.

Happened to me this morning after activating the service last week. Bonus data gone, only the $10 call credit remains.

    • It's not what the website says. Ask Live Chat to reinstate your 5GB bonus.

      • Thanks sween64 :)

They said I have used up my 5GB in the last 7 days :| It is a possibility, although I can't think of a session when I used that much data. When I checked two days ago it was still around 3GB haha.

Anyways, looks like a false alarm :)

Woolworths also selling for $9 in their catalogue starting tomorrow (7/12/16).

  • For everyones information, mine come with a full size SIM card. Had to cut it down with scissors.

Probably not an issue for most but worth noting :)
