  • Walk into the south oakleigh store yesterday just to have a look and was pretty much empty..

    • Yeah, definitely not much left in the WA stores. Was able to get a few pieces of wood last weekend and some mistint paint very cheaply. Might have another look this weekend.

As if any ozbargainers still believe the so-called closing down sale…..If you want to save, go straight to Bunning.

    • +11

Masters is not closing down? Good news, everyone!

  • +1

Surely it must be costing them more in advertising and staff wages than they are getting in sales. They should just dump the rest in landfill and be done with it…

    • You probably got negged by the few remaining staff members. Went there last week and couldn't agree more, nothing worth purchasing anymore, they would save money by closing.

      • They are all paid up to Dec 31 so staffmember told me, and he was of the same opinion
'Close now and dump the stock '
        So he could retire
When you're there take a look around
You may feel slightly paranoid as you'll have at least a dozen staff watching you,
as they have nothing to do, and most of the store's roped off

  • +7

If you feel like going for an adventure go for it. A trip to Masters is like going to the tip now.

Otherwise you are not saving money as you will be wasting time and petrol :)

    • Actually I checked a few weeks ago, and while the store was almost empty, there were still a lot of various power tools left. Some originally expensive, and good brands, both corded and cordless. At the moment I do not need any, BUT I saw some genuine bargains.

      • -1

True that. If you have invested in the Triton, Bosch or Panasonic systems you could be in luck.

      • -1

That was a few weeks ago and is irrelevant now.

        • -1

          Not for Triton.

  • Anyone been to the one in Braybrook, VIC. Just wondering if it's worth while?

    • very little stock two weeks ago. what was left was nothing special.

  • +1

Mandurah last week had paint, safety gear, doors and a few raised garden beds.

  • Joondalup - WA has tons of Titebond III - great wood glue especially for chopping boards as it's food safe and waterproof I believe.

    • Damn, Titebond glues disappeared very quickly from my local stores in Brisbane.

  • NorthLakes has masses of paint.

    • Yes should be able to get a good quote to paint your house at the moment

    • Thats because they ran out of tint this week. Cant sell mid or strong base paint on its own. Its worthless without tha ability to tint it.

      • I'm sure Bunnings will tint it for free
        Kinda like foreplay

      • They sell tint as well. Tint your own

Rubbish, most stores in Brisbane have plenty of tint.

  • Whats Chullora like? Is it worth the visit

    • I was there last week and half of the store is empty. Unless you are looking for paints, otherwise don't bother.

  • would be keen on a Panasonic cordless drill if anyone has seen one in Sydney

    • +4

      Haha haha haha!!!!!!!

    • Tradetools

    • All the decent tools have sold out a while ago mate.

I just came out of one. Found an ego chain saw no box and banged up ex display. No battery.

They said it's 150 from 300. I said check with your supervisor, she said "I am the supervisor and that's the price!"

I wish you all the best in your next finding job where these skills would shine!

    • +3

What you have to understand is that Masters no longer own the stock and staff are under strict instruction not to offer further discounts. I recall seeing signs up a while ago spelling this out.

If you want the chainsaw I guess you are going to wait until it hits the price you like and hope it is still there.

      • +7

Hide it behind the tins of paint…..

      • +1

I got laminate flooring and the staff member charged me for 10 boxes and gave me 20 lol

        • +1

          Laminate your ceiling as feature!

    • -2

They said it's 150 from 300. I said check with your supervisor, she said "I am the supervisor and that's the price!"

Considering people like you make their already difficult job more difficult by ignoring all the signage about pricing what do you expect?

How about thinking about others instead of yourself?

      • +5

Ok, who wound up the monkey?

      • Maverick-au the wound up masters monkey

it has been minimum 60% off since yesterday - sirs2k was only offered 50% today

        • +4

it has been minimum 60% off since yesterday - sirs2k was only offered 50% today

He's mistaken and has no idea what he is talking about. The price at checkout would haven the marked price minus 60%.

Claims he was offered one without a battery when the price he quoted was for a SKIN which has no battery or charger.

          EGO 56V CS1400E 35cm ChainSaw SKIN was $299.
          EGO 56V CS1401E 35cm ChainSaw KIT (2.0Ah and charger*) was $459

  • Just went on Wednesday. Picked up 3x3m gazebo for around $25.

Few bits of tiling stuff left at crazy cheap prices. Picked up some bargains there.

Eyeing up some blinds too. Plenty left at Bundall QLD

    • +2

I got 150cm cedar blinds for $16 down from $250

      • +2

Just goes to show its blindingly obvious there's still some deals to be had

    • Picked up 3x3m gazebo for around $25

what.. now that's a bargain! got a pic?

  • Caroline springs store forget about it..very little stock unless you want light globes

  • Has anyone checked out Hawthorn East store, VIC, recently? Anything left?

    • +1

I was there on Tuesday this week as I happened to be driving past. The store had very little that was of interest to me.

  • Is it an extra 15% after the 60% has been taken off or is it now 75% off?

    • 15% after the other discounts have been applied.

    • I think it's 15% of the final price at the register. So with 60% off it would be 15% off the remaining 40% - effectively 66% off original price.

      Oops, too slow.

  • Went to hawthorn store a couple of weeks ago and there was only very niche stuff less. Could be pretty much free and still not sell.

  • Anybody seen solar pool heater kit at any Masters store in Melbourne? Thanks in advance

Anybody seen solar pool heater kit at any Masters store in Melbourne? Thanks in advance

Some Brisbane stores still have them, not much help to you however.

      • Thanks. I will be Brissy on friday. If you vsit any masters keep an eye out for me.

        • Thanks. I will be Brissy on friday. If you vsit any masters keep an eye out for me.

I was at Richlands today and they didn't have any. Everton Park had two or three but that was two weeks ago and I'm sure that Northlakes had a few. I'll be visiting a few this week so will keep an eye out but stock at the stores is disappearing pretty fast. They had a 13 days to go countdown at Richlands.

I went to 2 in the last 2 days, and managed to get some things. Picked up some cheap hardwood, MDF costs close to nothing, some sheets of polycarb, and some wood finishing stuff.

Sure, there's not much for the normal consumer, but there's still some good stuff to be had, and really cheaply.

  • +1

Before you pay make sure to check the final item prices as they are nasty about their own mistakes and will make you look stupid. Well that is if you are still inclined to waste fuel to find nothing!

  • Worth a trip. Got an Ego hedge trimmer for $68, and there was still a good selection of Minwax wood stains and polyurethanes for dirt cheap. Kind of wish I'd got one of Ego line trimmers I saw at Tingalpa a week ago but they must have sold out at 50% off.

Just went in to buy a couple of 5Lt hammerite metal paint
Specially metal paint 70% off, have bought some of this brand and rustoline all at 70% discount this week
So 5lt at $138 rrp and they wanted $46 a can
    I said that's not right
Well whatever it comes up at is correct they reckon
And the liquidator's on holidays so you can't talk to him
    So I walked
Be careful and take a calculator cause the prices are going up again

    • You are aware that phones have calculators in them, right?

      • +2

        Yea mate
And I can do the maths in my head but they weren't budging
She took the paint to the paint shop part to check,
and the other chick said 'yea it's expensive paint'
It's really hard to argue with stupid

        • -1

          You're aware that you're arguing over $5, right? On a $140 product.

        • +2

@thorton82: Yeah, but it's also the principle.
They say x% off the lowest marked (i.e. highly inflated) price, then scan it at a higher price and you get stiffed even worse still.
I bought some items and didn't realise until I got home that they charged me 2x what it should have been as it scanned at an incorrect base price.

        • +3

          @thorton82:

You are aware that you are on OzBargain, right? :P

        • @yourCVonC:you're aware?

  • No I'm not arguing
I put it back on the shelf said thanks anyway and left
But it's 10 dollars a can when they are supposed to take another 15% off x 2 cans so 20 bucks

  • Got a piece of wood to mark stopping point for car for $2.50
    1L paint $18 - they didn't have the right stuff to get > 1L :-(

  • still stuff lying around to buy, surprisingly enough.

managed to buy an otterbox ipad case, plant watering bottle(!?), rj11 cable in ninja black, some led keyring lights, and an odd-sized pair of gloves

  • does anyone know if there is much left at ballarat thinking of heading there today a bit over a hr away from me.
