        • Rang the number and they knew nothing about it at first. Then after putting me on hold, told me I needed to fill out details on the amex connect website.

        • @Purple: Legend! Thanks heaps Purple!

        • @cnrmlj: Check your Amexconnect as both of my Amex account and amexconnect are showing as “redeemed”. I have feeling they are all fixed up now. Now waiting for the money to be credited to all the accounts.

        • @cnrmlj and milomiki: I have received an email from Amex regarding the bank issued card, the contents of the mail are as below:

          Thank you for your enquiry.

Sorry to hear that you didn’t receive a confirmation email.

We can confirm that the Card ending in XXXXX has been enrolled for the Westfield Gift Card offer.

Although you didn’t receive the confirmation email, please be assured if the transaction is valid you will receive a credit.

Please note as per T&Cs, the statement credit is normally applied within 5 business days but it may take up to 90 days from the end of the offer.

According to our system record, the statement credit has been applied to your account on 9 Dec.

Please allow 3-5 business days for the credit to be appeared on your statement.

Thank you for participating in AMEX offer.

    • "Therefore, we're manually issuing credits from our end."

So best not to bother them with an email re: issue, ie take away man power from doing their jobs or are they only manually crediting after receiving complaints from individuals?

  • Has anyone tried to make a purchase at First Choice Liquor with Android Pay?

    • +1

      Yes

    • I bought Coles Myer gift card n got instant email confirmation

  • I triggered the Westfield offer last Friday but till Wednesday I yet to receive the confirmation email.

I login to my Amex account and sent the secure email to Amex.

They said they will put thru the transactions and will credit me back in next 24-48 hours.

  • I went to pay for a Westfield giftcard, the machine said declined but actually charged me $104.95, so I had to call up AMEX and they have now cancelled the transaction (does not appear anywhere on my statement) but at the time I received an email that said thanks for shopping small.

Does anyone know if I'll receive the cashback if I go make a purchase at Westfield again?

    • +1

      Yep should be np

    • Lol thanks for shopping small?? Wrong promo?

  • i have the myer offer saved on my card. My wife just bought a $100 gift card with $10 gift card. She didn't ask me before buying. I could have got $35 back from amex had she bought a $150 card. is there anything i can do now.

    • +3

buy another $50 worth of gc.

      • can it multiple transactions. i thought it was in single transaction

        • +1

          Total spend…should be fine

    • Deleted comment - basically what Purple said.

  • +1

yes, correct. The offer term is: spend $150 or more on that Card, in one or more transactions.

  • Westfield Offer:
Just got Amex to manually apply a $25 credit on 3/7 of my Amex cards (Chatswood NSW purchases)

Since they weren't automatically triggered … I wonder if I can go to a different Westfield in Greater Sydney for another 7x$100? Mt Druitt,
Burwood and Liverpool had instant emails according to all the comments?

    • +1

Please go ahead try and report back

      • +1

Not going to bother trying now.
My Amex issued cards all say Redeemed for the Westfield offer overnight!

  • +5

Morning all, I have noticed that Westfield offers on my AMEX issued AMEXs are now showing as 'redeemed' after more than 1 week of 'saved to the card'.. I think the they have finally resolved the issue and everyone should get their credits soon!

    • Thanks for the update - I checked mine again and sure enough it looks like overnight, all my cards which were still awaiting movement now show the Westfield offer as "redeemed". That's usually a good sign that the credit is coming soon :)

      • Thank you. I just checked my account. Yes, it showed as "redeemed with card". However, only one account was not showed as "redeemed with card". Hopefully it will come soon….

Also, just checked the bank issue card, also indicated "Redeemed" for the Westfield promotion.

        • How do you check bank issued cards for offer redemption status?

        • +2

@SBOB: log into your amexconnect account and you should be able to see the status there

    • +1

Both my Amex account and amexconnect are showing as redeemed. I guess they are all fixed up now. Now waiting for money credited to my account

    • I also just noticed mine now says "redeemed" for both my AMEX. Now to hopefully see the credits come through next week.

  • Has anyone is able to spilt payments with Westfield gift card lately? Today Westfield staff will not let me and said they received an email from Amex said No split payments (most properly is from Westfield management instead of Amex), but she said I can split payments with Visa. What a joke ! I do not want to argue and I walk away.

    • +1

The hoops they make people jump through does leave a bit of bitterness. I think Westfield management is short sighted. Certainly this is a promotion made by their media/advertising department but the way it is being run seems to be creating more of a negative effect than a positive one.

Is the extra $2.95 x 30000 = $88500 worth the negativity posted about them online?

    • +1

Use mobile pay for the second card. Or cover the Amex logo

    • +1

Hey Purple, that won't surprise me.
Mwave wouldn't let me split payment back in September due to strict instructions from Amex themselves.

  • +1

Tried to buy vpay in Harvey Norman Preston & was refused to pay by amex, the cashier said this is restricted by amex and they are not allowed to sell any gift card or prepaid visa card to amex cardholder. this is very ridiculous in the way doing business. they can just reject all amex transactions including buying goods from their stores.

    • +1

Did you ask if ok to use MasterCard?

      • Yes, I asked and they said Visa and Mastercard was OK, just not Amex.

        • Wow that's very racist lol

  • +3

So I thought I'd share my experience here as we've seen so many mixed experiences with the GC purchases for Westfield.

    Venue: Westfield Southland (VIC)
    Amount: $400
    Total Paid: $404.95
    Type: Westfield Gift Card XS
Payment Card: 2x ANZ issued AMEX and 2x AMEX (the basic free one)
    Payment Split: $104.95, $100, $100, $100
    Payment Type: Apple Pay x4
AMEX Confirmation Emails: x4 and immediately in the inbox after Apple Pay Payment

So it is worthy to note that I tried the Concierge upstairs near the DJ and the banks; the young lady there wasn't rude but did ask whether it was for AMEX offer, and said that the offer no longer available. I said I registered for the offer already and so the offer still valid, and stated the above gift card amount I wanted to purchase using split payment as per above. She said that their manager disallowed them to do this and the max amount of gift cards I can buy in 1 day is $100 which I thought was pretty crappy as I know they are discriminating against the AMEX offer for some reason.

So I walked away and wondered around and by chance spotted another Concierge desk downstairs (quite far from the one above) near Coles. Thought I'd try my luck there and the bloke there was very friendly and did not have any problems putting the split payments through. No ID check necessary, no line and was done in less than 2 minutes.

Good luck to those still yet to give it a go, I hope you don't all swamp the Concierge guy downstairs at Southland mall, but what we've proven here is that there's absolutely no consistency whatsoever and it is strictly at the discrepancy of the person serving you as to whether you will manage to buy the GC's successfully or not with split payment. If the first Concierge counter fails, go back later or try another one in the same mall, you never know.

    • I went there today a bit late, nearly 5pm and nobody was at both of the Concierge desk, may try the downstairs one tmr. For those who want to get VPAY at HN, you may try Moorabbin, the nice young lady just warn me that it will not work but I just told her to sell me the VPAY anyway and I have bought 2 today.

BTW, how do you guys know which voucher is available from the HN EPay system? How did you guys know about this VPAY?

    • Can you explain what the benefit of Apple pay is? Also isn't the offer a 25 buck rebate for 100 spend? I don't get the whole splitting payments thing? Can't my wife and i just go in with our cards and each buy a $100 westfield voucher from concierge desk?

      • $2.95 (red) or $4.95 (XS) issue fee per Westfield gift card

  • +2

Thanks everyone for sharing your experience and feedback, it always made me feel so much better after reading the comments on Ozbargain.

  • +1

I got home from Southland a couple of hours ago and was about to post my comment when I saw that nizsmo beat me to it. I also went to the downstairs concierge in Southland near Coles. There was a nice young man named Matt and two other young people. The person I had two weeks ago was a woman about 60 and she was nasty! Matt let me split the payment but when I tried to use my supplementary card, the pin didn't work. All those shop small transactions were only $20 so I never realised that I set up the wrong pin on the card. OOOPS! Problem solver that he is, Matt split the payment into two $50 payments for that card which meant that I could do it without a pin. He asked me if the cards were in my name and I said yes but he didn't check. The name does not show up on the card in Android Pay anyway. This time I got the emails for the Westfield gift cards but not for the android pay.
Then I went to Myer for those gift cards. Not sure what I am going to do with all these cards but will sort something out.

  • +1

I went to Doncaster Westfield. The guy said with AMEX they are only meant to do one card per day. He also mentioned if it was for the AMEX offer he didn't think it allowed 2 cards and that I might not get the offer on the 2nd one. The system might not allow it either. I was thinking what rubbish so I asked if they could give it a try which they were fine about. $200 gc on 2 cards. No ID check. I think as I went close to closing they probably couldn't be bothered arguing.
Got home and received email for both cards.
Good luck for those still needing to redeem.

    • ask them if it works with Mastercard or visa. bet they will no know wtf it is

    • Just came back from Westfield Doncaster. Went to main concierge right in front of HSBC. Allowed to purchase 5 gift cards but was refused split payments. Had to pay the 4.95 transaction 5 times. Oh well, still a $100 saving.

Paid 4 with Apple Pay and 1 with physical card. E-mails all came through.

Went to Rebel Sports and purchased another 5x gift cards with split payments on physical cards but no e-mails.

      • I did not receive any confirmation email for the Rebel purchase on 3 occasions. However, I received the credits 2-3 days later.

        • Thanks! That usually happens to me too with other purchases. Worst case is Amex will still manually credit the refund if conditions are met :)

  • is first choice gift card same as coles myer?

    • +2

      No

  • After reading all the comments people had with Westfield, just wanted to pipe up that I had no issues buying my Gift Card with my DJs AMEX at Westfield Sydney Central Plaza (Myer side). Didn't get confirmation e-mail (I didn't get one for Dymocks either but did for Myer and kikki.k) but got the $25 credit.

All these offers are making me broke! Still want to take advantage of The Body Shop and Supercheap Auto …

  • What happens if you buy multiple things, receive a statement credit from Amex, and then decide to return part of your purchase (not all of it). I've read the terms and conditions and it basically says that they have the right to rescind/reverse their offer, but can someone who's done it before tell me if they actually do it? How does it work if you don't return everything?

    • +1

I've had that happen to me maybe 7-8 times. Sometimes the credit is reversed, sometimes it is not. Doesn't appear to be any pattern or reason why some stick and some don't. I'd put it down to luck of the draw.

      • Which retailers and did you return the items to the same store? I have not encountered credit reversal yet because all my purchases and returns are never at the same store.

        • did you do that returns on purpose to exploit this offer?

        • @dragonindespair: I am not doing returns on purpose, but if I do return items I am conscious of the statement credits.

        • Various stores, the big brands: Target, Woolworths, Harvey Norman etc. Can't remember specifically which ones did/didn't reverse the credit. I know there were two instances that I ordered from Woolworths Online and got the Amex credit only for Woolworths to have out-of-stock items which put me under the spend threshold - one time the credit was reversed and the other time it wasn't. Both identical circumstances, both had the same credit card transaction description (I think 'WOOLWORTHS ONLINE') and the refund happened within a week of the original purchase. This was confusing so I gave up trying to work out if there was a pattern.

None of my refunds were done to exploit any offer. Just unlucky I guess.

  • +1

Got all my $25 credit westfield on amex amex cards now.
    Previously didn't get emails.

I didn't contact them system auto fixed itself

    Amex is great!

    • Yes I can see all my credits now

Looks like it's double credit for those who got it credited manually.

      • Did you get double credit?

    • Yep, WESTFIELD CHATSWOOD -$25.00 has cleared on my Amex issued cards.
Not sure if they're the manual credits, or the automatic credits, because I did email Amex late last week about it.

      • +1

        That's automatic one.
        Manual would be 'credit adjustment'

    • Got mine too - exactly 5 business days post purchase

  • Looks like both the automatic and manual credits are coming through!

    • Received all my credits for Amex issued card. Bank issued card the credit has not come through yet.

  • +2

So $50 off for people!! Nice work!! This is how you survive in Australia!!!!

Dont complain about high prices of property!

  • +1

Amex will take back extra $25 credit…

  • No issues splitting payment for XS card at Westfield Garden City concierge (near level 2 food court) - thanks Deb :)

  • registered my card for westfield offer.
used it on Dec 1. no email came through. waited for a week and sent amex support an email.
just received an email from them stating credit is made on Dec 9 and will appear on my card statement in 3-5 days.
as others pointed out, it seems like some error there and they are working on it manually.

    Thank you for your enquiry.

Sorry to hear that you didn’t receive a confirmation email.

We can confirm that the Card ending in xxxxx has been enrolled for the Westfield offer.

Although you didn’t receive the confirmation email, please be assured if the transaction is valid you will receive a credit.

Please note as per T&Cs, the statement credit is normally applied within 5 business days but it may take up to 90 days from the end of the offer.

According to our system record, the statement credit has been applied to your account on 9 Dec2016.

Please allow 3-5 business days for the credit to be appeared on your statement.

    • For bank issued card, I have received the same email from Amex.

  • +1

Westfield $25 rebate has come through on all genuine Amex cards (inc Android $10 double-dip). I can confirm bank issued cards have now credited as well. No manual intervention was required on by part (expect the long wait for Amex to sort their sh!t out). Now time to go buy some QF gift vouchers to take advantage of those offers ($700 for $150 back + will double-dip on the 15% (max $50) online end of yr promo = $700 QF Flight Gift Voucher for $200 back)

    • Where is double dip ? Please share the link

      • Westfield gift card + android pay ($25 + $10 = $30 back) for the single transaction (you could android pay for something else and still trigger. I'm a fan of 'stacking' wherever possible to reduce the number of transactions and reduce risk)
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/279026

Qantas offers stack (I can confirm). Buy $700 of voucher = $150 + $50 back. Rinse and repeat. And voucher doesn't need to be consumed all at once as you are issued with a 'residual' voucher for what is left (over $2):
        $700 spend … get $150 back https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/279705
15% back up to $50 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/272508 (you can also use this offer to trigger Dans as well i.e it triggers QF & Dans)
For QF use an Amex cards that pays multiple points per dollar vs a low return card such as Gold charge.
And QF have a bonus 5 x QF points / dollar offer on vouchers right now as well. http://www.qantas.com/christmas/
So it becomes a bonanza of QF points as you get them on the flights themselves when you fly as well.
I then wait for more QF offers to use the vouchers e.g bonus points / double status credits etc as the vouchers don't impact any offers QF run through the year. Do read the conditions of use though.

For the QF spend … I worked out what I would need to buy as a minimum across the next 12 months. Multiple vouchers then purchased. You have approx 12 months to use the flight vouchers and you can book flights approx 12 months in advance. So technically you can get close to 2 yrs of use from the voucher if you booked a flight on the last day before voucher expires.

        • How do you buy a $700 voucher? Denominations are only in increments of $50 up to $500, then next options are $1000 and $2000?

          I'm looking at:
          http://www.qantas.com/travel/airlines/gift-vouchers/global/e…

          Thanks

        • @kelea: Nevermind, been reading elsewhere and guessing you've bought two vouchers (e.g. $500/$200)…

        • +1

@kelea: 2 ways. either multiple vouchers e.g 2 x $350 for 1 pax or 1 x $350 but change to 2 pax. The Amex system just adds up the final amount across spent over the period. I hope you found it useful as it is easy money back provided you needed to fly anyway

  • Can i use the Coles Myer GC to buy another GC at Coles?

    • Depends on customer service person

      • At a self checkout and i only whip it out before they know whats going on?

      • actually it may depends on their checkout system, Coles has upgraded their system and it block payment for gift card using gift card. So if the system at your Coles been upgraded it may not work.

        • I went to world sq one, the system allows it but the staff was adadment that "you can not do it". Most likely to prevent fraud because management can not see the source of the gift cards, so could be stolen.

        • @Turd: Even if the staff allow it, the system may not allow it.

        • @samehada: aka if it doesnt work try another coles

        • @Turd: I am not sure if it is on the store scale or system scale because it has not been working for me in many Coles stores and someone on here still comment that it is working yet I am not sure how long ago they tried it.

  • Hi all, I have checked bank issued card, the credit had came through.

  • +2

Bank issued (NAB & ANZ) and Amex Credits for the Westfield deal all came through today. Transactions done about a week apart and at two different Westfields.

If you registered, then it would seem there is no issue in the credits being applied, just takes a bit more time that we're used to.

$900 of credits in total across MYER/First Choice/Westfield in the last month. Should pay for the annual fees for 4 more credit card sign ups netting 390,000 QFF points.. first class for 2 on EK to New York here we come for cost of taxes.. now to work on the return leg!

    • Same here, bank issued credits for Westfield purchases on 03 Dec finally arrived today.

  • Carendale…QLD…. No issue split payment.
Xs card total over 2 cards $204.95
Even got a XMAS wrapped gold cardboard box with card in it! Wtf????
    Now for cash back email….

    • Remember the early XS & AMEX days?? lol hehe

      • Yep was looking at getting 20k no fee back then… Did not pull the trigger…

      • Wow, interesting… I missed that, any link to those discussion back then?

        • Aust FF forum

        • +2

I missed the boat too but after researching the AFF forum it seems you used to be able to

          1. Buy XS cards without the $4.95 service fee if you bought them via the corporate program. Minimum spend was $20000 worth of cards.
          2. Use XS cards to pay bills at Auspost using post bill pay.

So, buy $20k XS cards on Amex with no service fee. Go to Auspost and pay back to $20k to your Amex card. Rinse and repeat for endless reward points. Needless to say this loophole was shut down quickly.

        • @meumax: But payment for AMEX at AusPost had a fee of $2.95. And yes I did this for maybe only 2 months or such. :( But yeah

  • I have been wondering how OP generated the manual link?

  • Ordered from Woolies. An item was out of stock and no replacement could be found so they're refunding. Called Amex and they confirmed as per Ts & Cs, this will mean I don't get the credit.

On the phone to woolies right now to cancel the order.

This is 1 of 4 orders. Hopefully the other ones will go through.

UPDATE: Managed to cancel the order. Got $10 coupon for the inconvenience.

    • ask them to give you the refund as a 'coupon' (can be used as credit for next time). They can easily do that.

      • So if I do that then I would have still spent the $100 in Amex transactions and still get the statement credit?

    • -1

I always got my amex cashbacks for woolies online for orders that i had items refunded because of no stock.
One time i paid only $70
