      • I got lucky with the staff. The lady didn't seem very happy but did everything well.

I got the gift cards at the concierge near din tai fung.

  • Bought $100 Westfield Gift Card on Sunday 4th Dec at Westfield Airport West, received Amex email straight away.
Receive $25 credit this morning. able to use the Gift Card at my local woolie and coles.

    • Does it mention gift card on your transactions list?

I'm wondering if the generic "Westfield Chatswood" on mine means that the transaction appears to amex as just a purchase from Westfield and not a gift card hence not triggering the credit.

  • showing online:

WESTFIELD AIRPORT WEST AIRPORT WEST $102.95
Theatrical Producers (except Motion Pictures) and Ticket Agencies

AMEX Westfield CR AIRPORT WEST $25
Theatrical Producers (except Motion Pictures) and Ticket Agencies

    • Thanks Akanie.

I'm only looking at the app right now and mine's pretty much the same.

I don't see the second line but that's probably because more info shows up online.

Thank you again for putting my mind at ease. :)

    • Single payment or split?

      • Split payment.

        • Lucky! When was it purchased?

        • @Turd:

          4/12 Sunday.

  • I think people who did split payment Westfield have put a hold on things

But we did nothing wrong. So we will get our CR's $25

    • Here's hoping anex's famous customer service comes through.

      • Credit should appear on your billing statement within 5 business days from qualifying spend but may take up to 90 days from offer end date.

        • Yep hence I'm slightly concerned but haven't called then up yet. Going to give them the 5 days.

I purchased Westfield gift cards on "Friday (2/12) and Saturday (3/12) using Mobile promotion. I have received credits for the mobile promotion but still no Amex credit for Westfield purchased. I also purchased from Rebel Sports on Saturday, no email from Amex and also no rebate yet for Rebel promotion. I spoke to someone in Marketing team (not Amex, with another bank dealing with same kind of promotion), she said the promotion did not set up properly, therefore did not trigger the cash back. I personally think the statement credit has anything to do with the "split payments". As long as the spent met the promotion requirement, the system should trigger the statement credit.

          @Hogg:

Definitely something fishy with Westfield offer.
Purchased Myer gift cards yesterday(05/12) and the offer status is now 'Redeemed'.
Westfield is still 'Saved to card' though I purchased on 02/12.

        • +1

          @spk:
This is the second offer we've signed up with Amex Offers (with Bank issued Amex card). I purchased a $100 giftcard on Sat but still have not received any email confirmation and my status is still showing as "saved to card" instead of redeemed :(

        • @KupoHo: I never had issues with Amex offers so far.
Been using it for couple of years now.

        • @spk: I'm in the same boat. Purchased the $100 Westfield voucher on Saturday (04/12) and also spent $50 at rebel sport.
No confirmation from either, but the Rebel deal is "Redeemed" and the Westfield deal is still "Saved to card".

I also bought another giftcard on my bank issued Amex, haven't heard anything about that one.

        • +1

          @idonotknowwhy:
From previous experiences, I received statement credit even tho the offer still states "Saved to card"

Provided you have registered and fulfill the requirements, you will get your statement creidt

5 days past, no split payment, red westfield card, no CR yet…

    • +1

This happened to me with the Harvey Norman deal and I never got an email confirmation. Called AMEX and they said it was looking all good and that I had to just wait. It finally did come through 2 weeks later so sometimes they aren't as fast as usual.

  • Has anyone who purchase Westfield gift cards online received their rebate?

    • akanie has

      • +1

Akanie brought his instore at Airport West.

    • I've got all the credits applied to my cards, did 4 split transactions from Mt Druitt Westfield's on XS giftcard.

  • +1

This is not normal, I believe there is a problem with the Amex systems. They may have not loaded the Westfield locations or something. It's not that they will not honour it, I'm pretty sure they'll fix it soon but let's hope their fix will work retrospectively and we don't have to contact amex to get the credit.

    • I agreed, the promotion did not set up properly by Amex staff, therefore did not trigger the cash back.

  • I saved the promotion to my two Amex cards awhile ago . Went to Westfield today intending to buy the giftcards (2x$100), I was told I cant use two Amex cards, only allow 1 Amex cards per day!!!!!! I explained to her the reason why I want to use two Amex cards (ie to get the rebate)….. then she told me the rebate on longer available…..quota been reached (even though I saved the promotion to my cards ages ago) ….. Needless to say I did not buy the card……. Grrrrrrrr

    • +2

They are really stupid!! The offer has max registrations already, I bet head office called Amex and said STOP THIS NOW, however the credit cashback is still valid! Until 24/12/2016.

Did you say if they will allow you to buy with two MASTERCARD or VISA card?

      What about AMEX + VISA?

This is totally stupid and dumb from management, similar to Harvey Normans
These middle management people really do not know how to read t&c's obviously they do not care and having to do extra work on their end so close to xmas, typical work ethic. screw and do a poo on them

      • The problem was she gave me the wrong information…..anyway when I gave her two Amex cards, she said the two cards have different name, I told her to check again: one is Bank issued Amex and the other one is Amex issued Amex card…then she said oh…. but I am allow to use one card only PER day, so i have to come back tomorrow to buy another one if I want two Giftcards (2x$100) under two Amex cards….. when I said ok I just get one giftcard then and pay with 1 Amex card…. then she told me the promotion has finished……

        • +3

Most likely they say that to stop fruad, and wtf they think two different cards are two different people? Clearly it's not fraud, how many banks are out there? Say big 5, each of them have amex, u can probably get 5 amex cards.

I dont like how some people just shove off people and not help them to get bargains. Come on you work there it doesnt matter if the person you serving is getting deals from your product.

Usually there are two concierge tables, you should go to the other one and use the other card.

I bet Westfield management just want the extra $2.95 or so to cover the fees AMEX charges them. 30,000 people x say $1 fee, it is 30k that can employ some concierge person.

          *shakes head at Westfield Management.

    • @TheMatrix

The Oracle: "I don't expect you to do anything. I expect what I've always expected, for you to make up your own damn mind. Believe [AmEx] or don't."

      • lol…. I rang Amex up when I got home…. she was wrong, once you registered your card for the promotion, you have till the end of the promotional period to get the giftcard.

        • hahahahahahahaha The person who told you it is no more told you lies, blatant lie. You should go back to that person and complain to their supervisor or the person who told them it is no more.

        • Do not need to call Amex, You are right, as long as your card is registered for Westfield promotion, you are eligible for the statement credit as long as your spend is before 24 Dec. Those Westfield staff are not professional at all.

    • why didn't you buy one gc there and then and the second one later?

      • 2.95% less of a bonus

      • -1

She said only 1 amex PER day …..and the promotion has finished anyway !!!!

        • +1

          Incorrect.

Registrations for the enrolment have closed.

The offer/promo is still valid till 24th Decemeber 2016

    • Was the concierge a professional?

      • she make me feel like I am trying to get a free giftcard from her or something….

        • Let me guess, older generation?

        • @Purple: When I got mine, I had a younger person say no split transactions. However they offered me a $10 gift card as a bonus so a bit :|

This 1 per card thing from upper/middle management/head office is to..

          1. Stop fraud
          2. Easy to sort out fraud if it happens
          3. More profits for Westfield due to the $2.95 "service fee" bs. Imagine everyone paid the min $2.95 fee x 30,000 that's 30k, if people try to avoid that it means less profits for Westfield.
        • @Turd: This "one card per person" - not too sure does it only applied on a few Westfield or all Westfield. Need to wait for more people to report here.

        • @Turd: I don't mind paying the $2.95 fee for each giftcard (2x$100 giftcards, 2x$2.95 fee), but I am not allow to do that either, and I can't buy one gc first , and then come back later to buy another gc because I am only allow 1 per day!!!!!!

        • @Purple: Yes…. but I was polite to her through out that transaction…she might had a bad day or the customer before me gave her a hard time or she was just following order….. or what ever.

        • +2

@Purple: It would be random depending on how or what the volume of traffic is at the concierge desk is.

Imagine for months you do nothing and maybe only direct a few people to where to go, where toilets is. Then one day/weekend BAM 100 people come to you to process gift cards… more so split payments?? WTF…

Supervisors will be like omg gomgomg this is crazy!!! We got so much work we need more people, management is like NO we are poor.. Deal with it.

          Then thus this happens.

        • -1

@TheMatrix: Doesnt sound at all logical for 1 per person per day, it isnt baby forumla or nappies or wheetbix where you are sending them over to Chyna!

        • @TheMatrix: go to different concierge at different level to buy more.

        • @Turd: I told her it doesn't make sense to me… she said she was told by Amex to do so….

        • @TheMatrix: So ask.. If I have 2 VISA cards can I split payment and buy one $200 card with two VISA cards. ?

          LOL

Replace VISA with MASTERCARD or Diners, JCB etc..

        • @TheMatrix:
They let me split with 2 cards when i looked baffled when she asked me if I was doing the amex promo.
She was so nice after that telling me Westfield will be sending me a $25 gift card in the mail (her interpretation of amex deal)
3 days prior same lady said NO when told her about my intention to split with my 6 cards

        • +1

@Peanut money: Did you give them your address details? for the $25 gift card?

        • @Turd:
Lol. Dammit .i was more worried she was going to remember me

        • @Peanut money: I told her straight…. the reason I want to use two cards on two separate transactions is because I want to maximise the current Amex rebate, it wasn't my intention to increase her work load…. that's when she started making things really difficult…(and I thought this is a totally legitimate thing… in my mind this is good for Westfield, they lock in my money and Amex pay for the promotion…good for their business and I thought they would welcome this with open arms…..wow… I was wrong!!!!)

        • +3

@TheMatrix: Chatswood Westfield has two concierge desks ;)

    • then she told me the rebate on longer available…..quota been reached (even though I saved the promotion to my cards ages ago) ….. Needless to say I did not buy the card……. Grrrrrrrr

She probably means its no longer available to register, as the registration quota has been reached- which is true.

      • may be…. but I did tell her that I have registered for the promotion and the promotion period run till 24/12/2016.. she then said Amex already paid out 30,000 rebates and the promotion is no longer available……which sounded strange to me because I am one of the 30,000 card holders who registered for the promotion and Amex has not paid me (because I have not bought any Westfield gc)….. so when I got home I rang Amex…and was old I am still entitle to the rebate….

        • Blatantly lied! Dishonest!

        • +1

@Turd: Not understanding the deal and saying things otherwise known to be false is different to blatantly telling a lie.

        • @roughana: Who ever told them to say that clearly doesn't know what this am3x promo is, nor shud care about having to do extra work at this time of the year. Do your Allah dam job!

  • Just bought a $50 rebel gift card with Apple Pay but no email confirmation with neither😢

    • I bought Westfield gift card with Android pay, I have received email confirmation with Mobile promotion but not with Westfield promotion. However, I spent $50 on Rebel on last Saturday, I swap my card and I never receive any email confirmation from Amex for Rebel. I have not receive the statement credit for Rebel spent yet.

      • Thanks for that. This promotion is getting a bit confusing to keep track of

        • fatming, FYI, I received the Rebel rebate from Amex which I purchased $50 in store on Saturday - 3 Dec. But still not rebate of Westfield gift card yet.

  • Interesting, I did an 8 card split payment at MYER on Saturday.

I received a call from ANZ fraud, in their capacity as one of my AMEX cards provider, and as provider of the merchant facility to MYER.

The 8 card split triggered their systems, and they were contacting to confirm it was legit (which it was). they wanted to know what it was about ($35 rebate on $150 spend), relay that information back to MYER so they know whats going on.

Still, from a fraud POV, I can understand the 'no split payments' as frustrating as it is as it probably DOES cause more work in the background with this fraud side of things.

I dont understand Westfield Southland refusal to put through multiple transactions. I'm still annoyed by the Westfield Southland lady the other day.. its almost tipping me into doing it online to receive via post!!!

Anyone have luck at Westfield Geelong with split payments/multiple cards in one day?

    • I went to Westfield southland too…. and my request was not technically a split transaction….. it was two separate transactions (one for each $100 gc, and I offer to come back later and buy each one separately…. but no, only 1 per day!!)

      • +1

Some Westfields (Doncaster, VIC included) have multiple concierge desks, that's how I bought multiple cards in one day. I didn't try to do a split payment.

    • Yep preciously. Extra work for middle management at this time of the year when most people take early holidays. JUST NOT ON!

he he that's why people are annoyed LOLOLOLO Harvey Normans?

  • +1

This Westfield offer must be the most frustrating offer so far on ozbargain.. Not only because of the manual intervention (like Harvey Norman), but also because the statement credit confirmation emails do not get sent to most people in the first place..

    • +1

Confirmation emails not sent means amex didnt setup this right. Nothing to do with Westfields.

Westfields are just being male reproductive people and being difficult, most likely due to one fraud case where the police have captured that person in Pyrmont already.

  • +1

My flight landed SKSA 10.45am & at noon I bought 2 GC's at the Burwood NSW Westfields. Yee Haa! I did not try to do split payment, but the staff member looked like she had been sucking lemons. If this was a PR exercise for Westfields, then it failed. Anyway I received the 2 Amex emails, however I was not sweating. Once before I did not get a rebate, and they made it very quickly after I emailed them.

    • +1

      Welcome back!

  • So.. the 4th one maxed out is.. Woolworths Online!

  • Bought 1 x $100 Westfield GC (normal red one) at Westfield Innaloo (WA) this afternoon - used chip and PIN, received confirmation email almost straight away.

    • Yip can confirm - lovely lady at Innaloo.
Bought a $500 XS gift card split over 5 amex cards. Allowed usage of mobile pay x3 , had to swipe card once and paypass last one.
Received all 5 emails about 30mins after.
Had used mobile pay before so had already received those statement credit emails

      • Went to Innaloo today, and asked for $200 XS gift card to split over two cards, was told not possible. Wasn't until I pushed for it that she said she will try and as expected it went thru just as expected.

I used card + Apple Pay and all without any problems. Even got my mobile credit when using Apple Pay. Stoked!

        • Update: Westfield and Myer credits came thru. Apple Pay credits have not hit my account yet. Shall give it a few more days before emailing Amex.

    • +1

Doh! Got the $100 Red card but from Whitfords and still no confirmation. I did however test it at a Coles outside of Westfield and it went through fine so yay for that!

  • Noob question - do all Amex credit cards allow you to get these offers(including the likes of 0$ yearly fee - The American Express Essential® Credit Card) or do you need to have some specific ones?
I wanted to buy a few things such as a dish washer and a few other things and was hoping to score a deal during the run up to xmas. do you guys know how much time it would take me to get a card if I apply tomorrow? just an indicative time will do.

    Appreciate some help.

    • +1

Just got an essential card today took about a week from applying
As far as I know it qualifies for statement offers
use the referral for the $75 for $750 spend

      • Hi horice,

Thanks a bunch for the info :)

    • +1
      • Most Amex cards qualify for offers, including the free cards, e.g. Essential. If a specific Amex offer you want is not there, often you can enrol manually for the offer.
      • After application, card comes quite quick. Amex specifies 5 days, but sometimes it may be quicker or a bit slower. But good chance you will get it way before Christmas.
      • Also, once it is approved, and you need it urgently, say for a trip, you can request Amex to courier it to you.
      • If you want more info about Essential card, my post is here. If you want to look at entire offerings, then narrow your choices, this comment may help. Good luck.
      • +1

Thanks, used your referral link ;)

        • Many thanks for that :-) Hope you have received the card by now, and able to do the shopping you plan.

why dont people just buy the gift cards online westfields and harvey norman they both should work ?

    • +3

Gift cards for Westfield's online you must pay a 9.95 delivery fee. Like seriously! Wtf!

Harvey Norman online is canceling all gift card purchases made with amex.

      So go figure! These people!

  • I bought three Myer cards and 2 westfield cards on Friday. The myer credits have all come through, the westfield credits have not. What is worrying is that it is not showing as redeemed under amex connect.

    • +6

Don't worry, as long as it shows up on your transaction history, even if there's a technical glitch, Amex will happily sort it out with a quick email. I've never had any issues with them. They've gone out of their way to help me in situations where it was clearly my mistake. I have just asked nicely and sorted immediately.

      • oh that's good to know…what email do you email them on?

  • So for all of these I can make 2 transactions 2 days apart and as long as the total is over the amount required I will get the cashback?

    • According to Amex T&C, it only stipulates that you must use the card that you registerd for the promotion to purchase the GC to get the rebate, doesn't say anything about how long apart each transaction must be….

    • AMEX is carefully specific in it's offers. And so you can read "in one or more transactions" as a certain.

  • Got Westfield credit for the one I spend on Monday 5/12/2016 but not the one for 1/12/2016, I have emailed Amex

  • Still not Westfield credit for the purchases I made on the 2 Dec (Friday) and 3 Dec (Saturday). Mobile promotion credits (used to purchase Westfield gift card on 2 Dec and 3rd Dec) , Rebel credit (also brought on 3 Dec -Saturday) all come through. Except the Westfield credits.
